What if the prophecy took a different path?

In Marvel Comics lore, Mantis, the Celestial Madonna, was destined to bear the Celestial Messiah through the union of “the perfect human” and “the perfect Cotati.” But in this alternate vision, Solaris Warlock is born of Mantis and Adam Warlock, The Celestial Madonna and Him, a being of cosmic light and divine mystery. Rejected by the Cotati, they are branded a false prophet and crucified, paying the ultimate price for a fate they never chose. Solaris would later be born again.

This concept draws inspiration from the comics, where religious symbolism has long been woven into both Adam Warlock’s and Mantis’ narratives. Adam Warlock himself was once crucified, and Mantis was prophesied to be the mother of the Messiah. Despite these striking parallels, their stories never truly intertwine in canon.

This reimagining explores the idea that Mantis’ destiny as the Celestial Madonna is not bound by prophecy, but by her own choices. No matter who she bears a child with, that child will be the Celestial Messiah—no matter what.

I got an idea and I ran with it. Done on procreate on iPad. I’d love to see more Mantis and Adam in the MCU. And a more stoic mature grown up Adam Warlock much like his comic book counterpart. I think the relationship dynamic between Adam Warlock and Mantis would be rather interesting. They are both finding themselves Adam recently emerging from his cocoon and learning the world around him. Feeling emotions for the first time. Mantis having lived in isolation with Ego having now left the Gaurdians to discover herself. Being an empath she could help him navigate and understand his emotions better. In any universe I think they could work.
