trying something new

my pottery teacher established her studio 25 years ago, and back then she couldn't just buy prepacked clay. she used to buy unfired bricks and then process them a little bit before giving them to her students. she still has a giant chest full of these bricks so i wanted to use them up.
i put one brick in water to dissolve it and then i had to przeszlamowac everything through a sieve. the clay used in bricks is not pure and clean and also for some reason they add sawdust to it. sawdust might be a good admixture for bricks production, who knows, but its awful for makign pottery. so i had to remove all the impurities before using it

it had to be left like that for a few days before the excess water evaporated and then my teacher poured the clay into a big gypsum form/bowl (plaster form? idk). gympsum sucks out water so it speeds up the process to achieve the perfect consistency
