Meadowlink AU
Okay so that at the very least I have something to point to when I mention the meadowlink au, I’ve written up a very condensed version of it, because the outline alone is a 26k+ word google doc and I’m not going to subject you all to that much information when it’s not an actual fic yet alsdjflkajfalkdsf
The Premise: After returning from the Chinese Peninsula, Shinra is deeply bothered by learning the truth of the Tabernacle’s sacrifice, and by extension, the Amaterasu’s as well. Determined to learn the truth of how the first pillar came to be the foundation of the Tokyo Empire, and not trusting the stories handed down through the generations of Haijima or the Holy Sol Temple, he seeks an audience with the only primary source left - Amaterasu herself.
The Outline:
Part 1: Shinra Visits Amaterasu
Shinra gets approval from Obi to go try and connect with the woman in the Amaterasu on the condition that a team goes with him to mitigate any potential damage, and to bring him back to himself should she take him over again.
Shinra successfully establishes an Adolla Link with the woman and manages to connect with a deeper part of her than just the madness and rage. She shares her memories of becoming the first pillar with him, showing him how she was betrayed by humanity and saved by the Evangelist. Shinra shares his own knowledge of the discovery that the first Raffles wasn’t human, and promises to show her the truth of Raffles I with his ability to view the past.
Amaterasu - and it turns out that’s her name, that the structure was named after her - remains within the energy plant, still wary of Shinra’s claim and siding with the Evangelist.
Timeline Splicing - events with Nataku proceed as they do in canon.
Part 2: The 1st & 4th Pillars Learn the Truth
Company 8 has another run-in with the white-clad, including Yona - who Arthur’s able to point out as being the inhuman one in the group. Shinra reaches out to Amaterasu and she grants him a sliver of grace, linking with him when he uses his light speed kick to see Yona’s memories, and by extension the truth of how Yona tricked humanity into sacrificing Amaterasu.
This shift in perspective forces Amaterasu to re-evaluate her view of humanity and her trust in the Evangelist.
Part 3: Rescuing Amaterasu & Birth of A Dark Sun
The Amaterasu fails for the first time since it’s inception, plunging the Tokyo Empire into darkness, and the 8th dodge Haijima and the Holy Sol Temple both to go rescue Amaterasu herself.
The Empire is left in crisis without power, and the 8th scrambles to help where they can. After Amaterasu has recovered somewhat, Shinra makes the decision to take her place as the Adolla Burst in the energy plant - at least until they can figure out another energy source.
Part 4: Amaterasu Alone & Life Beneath A Dark Sun
Shinra’s sacrifice hangs like a shadow over all of them, and Vulcan and Licht work tirelessly on a solution for a new energy source.
Amaterasu slowly finds a place within the 8th and begins to form bonds with its members, though she struggles to fully trust anyone that’s not Shinra. She also finds that she has to reacclimatize to using her pyrokinetic abilities after 250 years of the only output option being 100%.
Part 5: Shinra’s Fall From Grace & Homecoming
An alternate energy source is implemented, and the energy plant can finally be decommissioned for good. The 8th finally bring their hero home.
Part 6: Pillar Bonding and Adolla Links
Without the entirety of the Tokyo Empire resting on either of the pillars’ shoulders, Shinra and Amaterasu finally have time to bond, themselves. She teaches him more about his Adolla Burst as well as the Adolla Links - namely how to properly initiate them, and maybe more importantly, how to break unwanted ones.
Part 7: Rescuing Sho
Exactly what it says on the tin. <3
Part 8: Breaking In a New Life
Shinra and the 8th help reintegrate Sho into normal life, though it’s not exactly a smooth transition. The rough patches only lead to strengthening the bond between brothers though.
Sho and Amaterasu find a special kind of solidarity in each other, both being people displaced from what they knew for so long that they’re outsiders in a world they should belong to.
Part 9: Making Up The Rules
It becomes apparent that there’s absolutely zero precedent set for what pillars that aren’t under the white-clad’s rule are supposed to be like. Even Amaterasu had been alone in her experience with the Evangelist, and for so long had only experienced other people through Adolla Links. Which means that with three of them now under the 8th’s care, they’re kind of making up the rules as they go.
The use of adolla links slowly becomes more personal between them, as they begin to use the links for comfort and connection rather than domination or control, and with this change they notice the landscape of the adolla link begin to change. It becomes a meadow of safety and familiarity, a place of healing to soothe past traumas - no longer an adolla link, but a meadow link.
----
Parts 10+ aren’t 100% set in stone because I don’t know exactly how I want them to go, but the things I do have some rough outlines for are:
- Shinra is captured by the white-clad and forced into a comatose-like state by Haumea, being unreachable even by Adolla Link.
- The 8th devise a plan to get him back, and succeed, but Shinra is already too far gone.
- Amaterasu basically goes searching for his soul while Sho acts as their anchor to guide them home.
- Even this isn’t enough though, and Amaterasu, knowing the bond between Shinra and Arthur, forces Arthur into an Adolla Link in a fit of desperation, demanding that the knight bring Shinra home.
- This becomes my excuse to fuck with the malleable dream-like quality of Adolla and basically set up a fantasy au within the larger au, where the world shifts around them to become like Arthur’s fantasy world, rife with fairytale themes and challenges for Arthur and Shinra to overcome together. It also works as the turning point for Arthur to truly step into the formal role of being the 4th pillar’s guardian, and for Shinra and Arthur to meet and understand each other on a soul-deep level.
- Is this secretly also the longest slow-burn shinarthur au ever? Yes.
- Being forced into the world of Adolla has its side-effects on Arthur too, namely being that he can access the pillars’ meadow link, though without the full potential of thought/emotion/intention sharing that the pillars have.
----
Beyond THIS though??? Even more vague:
- Shinra & Arthur officially get together (you think they got together BEFORE now??? absolutely not!!! this is slow-burn city babey!!!)
- They do rescue Mari at some point
- With all of his family back, Shinra develops a rainbow fire - his own source of grace (instead of relying on the evangelist’s)
----
Final notes:
- Given that all of this was written before I caught up with the manga, I no longer know entirely how I want the au to end lol. I mainly just wanted to explore adolla links to their fullest capacity within this au and the depth of connection they could offer, flesh out Amaterasu and her backstory, and make this a kind of fix-it fic for some elements of canon, so the ending is still up in the air!
- I actually wrote the bulk of this outline before really deciding I wanted to go with shinarthur (though their bond was always there regardless of platonic vs romantic) and I’m still steadily going back through and adding Arthur’s perspective of, and interaction with, all of these events, and basically deciding how I want to progress their relationship beats throughout the story, so this is why the shinarthur is probably coming across as sparse at best. But don’t worry!! I’m a huge fucking romantic and I’m going to make this relationship be so tender and loving!!

Fire Force S2EP9
aka: 4th company looking nice
Oh we're getting a history lesson now.
Arthur remains a total dork.
.. Did the OP always have lyrics? Or am I just that slow in only noticing them now?
Ogun stepping up and making these infernals look easy.
Good for Takeru for protecting Tamaki but goddamn! That demon really shot his entire arm through his chest!
Wait.. he's not actually hurt? How..
Ohh, that demon's fire scythe has a bunch of power behind it.
This creepy woman isn't giving Shinra enough info to work with.
Ah.. those key arrowheads look like that thing in the OP towards the end with Iris.
And looking back at the OP now, I realize that the pole/arrow/whatever it is also has random numbers on it like the many stone from last ep.
People with adolla bursts are sacrificed to power amaterasu and this tabernacle?
So is that why the creepy woman never came back? She gave her life to protect the forest and oasis?
Ogun.. hello there.. you have my attention.
Dam dam dam is right! Holy hell boy!
This power of his is incredible!
He hasn't defeated the demon but he's putting in some fine work!
Ahh creepy woman's voice gives me chills..
“One second will be plenty.” Honestly though, with Shinra's speed, one second of adolla grace would be nice right now.
Aw come on, don't end right there!

Toonami Weekly Recap 1/23/2021
SSSS.Gridman EP#02 - Restoration: Yuta and his friends discover that, in addition to all the damage being undone, nobody remembers the kaiju attack. In addition, several students are missing and nobody has any memory of them. After they decide to investigate, they are approached by a mysterious man named Samurai Calibur who "optimizes" Junk, allowing Rikka and Utsumi to see and hear Gridman. They investigate the missing students and find out that everybody's memories have been rewritten to believe they had all died before reaching high-school. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Yuta's classmate, Akane, and her electronic companion, Alexis, are behind the kaiju attack, which she instigated to kill the missing students for ruining her lunch. She then creates another kaiju to kill her homeroom teacher for not apologizing after bumping into her. Yuta once again fuses with Gridman to fight the Kaiju, but finds himself outmatched. This prompts Caliber to leap into Junk, transforming into a sword that Gridman uses to destroy the kaiju. The homeroom teacher survives the kaiju attack, and the next day, the damage and everybody's memories are reset like before.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season (Marley Arc) EP#03 (62) - The Door of Hope: Reclining on his bed, Reiner thinks about his past and a conversation he had with his mother on the curse of being an Eldian. He and his mother were abandoned by his Marleyan father, leading to the beginning of his quest to become an honorary Marleyan. He entered the military training program where selected trainees were chosen to become Titans; Annie Leonhart as the Female, Marcel Galliard as the Jaw, Zeke Jaeger as the Beast, Pieck Finger as the Cart and Bertolt Hoover as the Colossus. Porco Galliard was devastated when Reiner was chosen to be the Armored Titan, but Marcel had sabotaged Porco's chances for selection to spare his brother from the dangers of battle. General Magath sent Annie, Bertolt, Reiner, and Marcel on a mission to reclaim the Founding Titan on Paradis, but on arrival, Ymir, in the form of a Pure Titan, emerged from the ground and devoured Marcel. Annie and Bertolt wanted to abort the mission, but Reiner convinced them to proceed, leading to the breaching of Wall Maria. Following the mission, they reverted to their human forms and joined the Training Corps on Paradis. Emerging from recollections of his past, Reiner contemplates suicide, but reconsiders because of his role as a mentor to Falco and the other warrior cadets. Meanwhile, Falco engages in conversation with a wounded Eldian soldier who has lost a leg and an eye, but admits to faking trauma-induced amnesia to avoid being sent back home.
Sword Art Online: Alicization: War of Underworld Part 2 (Alicization Lasting) EP#21 (45) - Beyond Time: Rinko retrieves Alice's Lightcube, but Asuna informs her that she will stay behind in UW to be with Kirito, and the system enters the maximum acceleration phase. Meanwhile, Miller returns to the real world, just to find that his body is dead and his soul is dragged to Hell. Upon learning that both Miller and Vassago were ultimately defeated, Critter and the other remaining attackers decide to flee. Before fleeing, they rigged Ocean Turtle's main engine with explosives. However, Akihiko Kayaba takes possession of one of the installation's robots and successfully disarms the bomb. On their retreat, Critter finds out the other attackers never found Vassago's body. The robot used by Kayaba also disappears. Back in UW, Kirito and Asuna depart from the World's End Altar to explore the world together.
Fire Force Season 2 Chinese Peninsula Arc EP#09 (33) - The Core: Prologue: A retelling of The Great Cataclysm describes how after the world was enveloped in flames and ash, a man, later to be called Raffles I, led his followers to an "unsullied flame", an energy source which he used to create "Amaterasu" and benefit mankind. Back inside the Tabernacle Amaterasu, Victor tests Arthur's hypothesis that the code is based on "pi", but the results are inconclusive. They continue forward and reach the entrance to the core which emits a mechanical sound like a heartbeat. From the presence of white-feathered arrows, including one in the keyhole, Victor deduces that the core involves a sacrifice and may contain a living being possessing an Adolla Burst. Outside, Shinra and the others fight off the Infernals until only Tempe remains. Tempe creates a flaming scythe and attacks the Fire Force who seem powerless against him. Shinra still hears the voice telling him to save the forest so he asks Ogun, Tamaki and Takeru to delay Tempe while he and Scop attempt to contact the woman in black robes. He is finally successful, but she is so weak that she can only provide one second of Adolla Grace to help him. Shinra believes that will be just enough for him to defeat Tempe.
Assassination Classroom EP#18 - Action Time: Koro-sensei is forced to watch an hour-long movie edited and narrated by KĹŤki Mimura exposing all of Koro-sensei's embarrassing habits, used as a distraction from the chapel slowly filling with water and bloating up his tentacles. Once the students of Class 3-E shoot off the seven tentacles, they surround and block Koro-sensei with a hydraulic cage, allowing Chiba and Hayami to snipe him. However, Koro-sensei activates his ultimate defense, trapping himself in an indestructible crystal sphere, which will last for one day despite his limited movements. As the students lament their failed assassination attempt, many of them suddenly and severely fall ill. This is revealed to be the work of a mysterious third party who had spiked their drinks with a supposedly deadly virus, demanding that the remaining students and teachers bring him the immobilized Koro-sensei in exchange for the antidote. Deciding against the trade-off, Koro-sensei and Ritsu instead come up with a plan to infiltrate the high-security hotel and obtain the antidote.

Fire Force S2EP10
aka: *whispering* mission complete
Creepy lady in black finally grants Shinra some grace. Let's see if this one second really makes a difference.
Anndd that's a yes. Damn, look at his speed now.
He went so quick he was able to look at the demon's memories back when it was human.
That explosion really was instant. Shinra flew quite far away too during all that chaos.
So creepy lady was given an adolla burst by one of the evangelist's insects.. but didn't turn into an infernal or demon?
“You are trying to go up against.. the being who created.. your god.” Well that's one way to illustrate how powerful this evangelist is.
I have a love-hate relationship with how this lady speaks..she's whispering nonstop and these echoes make it all creepy.
True, if the first pillar was actually sacrificed, then it's no wonder she's so filled with hatred.
Ohh that pan up with the current pillars was nice.
Aw, the boys are so tired, but the mission was a success.
Saying goodbye to Scop already? I'll miss him.
“Hell yeah!” Ahh they all went through that gas without their masks again! I love it, though I wish we could've seem them go crazy like last time.
That dream with the first pillar though.. perhaps she's not always angry.
The search team is disbanding too.. and everyone is being sent home with boxes of potatoes..
Looks like we'll be seeing more of Viktor next time, alongside Joker of course.
