GUYS, another passion of mine that played a big part in my life is the cartoon "Mao Mao: heroes with pure heart."

Analyzing this masterpiece by Parker Simmons, I noticed that his enormous passion for Japanese culture, and he did not fail to include numerous references from Japanese folklore(even more than the traditional ones TMNT 2012)

Furthermore, I noticed animal species and I would love to show you what I researched about the name and meaning of some of the animal species present in this magnificent cartoon (PART 1):

•MAO MAO MAO

(yes, that's his full name 😆)

Let's start with the protagonist, and my favorite character, Mao Mao.

They might look at him and say "he's just a black cat with green eyes", but for those who didn't know, analyzing his physical characteristics, I saw he is a Bombay Cat.

Also known as the Bombay cat, he is a cat of American origin, this species is like a mini panther (very apparent in some cases throughout the series where he makes panther roars), Its name was chosen to honor India, the region of the black panther.

But even so, he is super cute, and he doesn't really like being alone, he is playful and mischievous, very extroverted, and even purrs, not at all treacherous (looks a little like him). Its bad reputation could probably also be a reference to the size of the animal in real life, as it is very small, and to its superstition, originated in the Middle Ages, when it was believed that felines, due to their nocturnal habits, had a part with the devil, and if the cat was black, usually associated with the darkness, even worse for him.

So his father Shin Mao is also of this species

Since they are both small cats.

When I saw the real species of this character... it had never made so much sense before:

Introducing, the Meles anakuma (or Japanese Badger), he is a species of omnivores, and is endemic to Japan.

It's not his case but, in Japanese folklore, the badger has cultural significance, often portrayed as a shape-shifting creature with mystical qualities. These folktales and cultural insights had influenced

I suspected the cutest little thing, Adorabat, was a vampire bat due to its nose

ADORABAT'S NOSE / VAMPIRE BAT'S NOSE

But this bat's diet is only the blood of cows and sheep, so it doesn't work, and I found the closest species to the species of this cute little girl

This species of bat is insectivorous, just like she, also called Free-tailed bat.

It has pointy ears and is very small, they live in resting places near water and mainly in caves, but they also find refuge in mines, bridges and even tunnels and abandoned buildings.

Mao Mao Mao x Gn!Reader

Good ol' dad

Shin Mao has come to visit his son at the forceful request of his wife. Fortunately, since the last time he visited, the legendary hero has been more caring towards Mao Mao, even as far as not getting his name wrong so often.

Mao Mao still looked up to his dad despite Adorabat and Badgerclops still not knowing why. So naturally in a casual conversation, the topic of you arose.

Mao Mao had the biggest crush on you but you always seemed to try to quickly get away from him or say something awkward and there you disappear. His dad listened to him attentively and seemed to recognize some patterns in how you reacted. But to make sure...he came up with a plan. He told his son to follow him and show him who you were. Mao Mao thought something strange was going on but didn't object to his father and they went out to your usual location. Seeing you there Mao Mao pointed at you and Shin Mao grinned.

"Alright," he whispered to his son "Just play along."

Now with a slightly louder voice, he says: "Well Moo Moo, gotta say your position here as a hero is just not impressive."

Your ears turned in their direction.

"What? But dad--"

"I mean! Your sisters would have already moved on to bigger places than this."

You clenched your fists.

Mao Mao even though he knew his father was up to something still hurt. His eyes threatened to spill tears.

"Honestly, such a disappointment Me Mo"

Suddenly you moved with such speed that others only saw a blur. You climbed Shin Mao's chestplate till you were face to face as you yelled.

"His name is MAO MAO!! MAO! MAO! He is LITERALLY your last name THREE TIMES!!! How could you even get it wrong?! Also! Disappointment?! Excuse you!!! Your son has been looking after Pure Heart Valley's citizens, fighting a strange and regular horde of monsters and sky pirates for no reason other than his good heart and in hopes he can make you proud. HOW DARE YOU HAVE SUCH AN ATTENTIVE SON THAT LOVES YOU AND TREAT HIM WITH SUCH DISRESPECT?! With such A FLIPPANT ATTITUDE EVEN?! You do NOT DESERVE HIM!!!!!"

Mao Mao's eyes widen at your reaction. He blushes at every compliment you give him and how passionate you are about defending his honour. Now he just needs to try to get you off his father who just looks at you with a calm smirk (which infuriates you even more).

Mao Mao finally being able to wrap his hands around you trying to get you off. "It's ok, stop, please!"

"No! He needs to know! Aaaargh!"

Mao Mao successfully removing you from his father gives you a kiss on your cheek which makes you go completely limp, face red at his action.

"I-I just---- I need to go!" And there you go running away again.

At this Shin Mao boisterously laughs.

"See, son? They like you back! If they didn't they wouldn't risk coming to face me!"

Mao Mao blushes still looking at you disappearing on the horizon at how embarrassed you were. His father places a paw on his shoulder "My father did the same for me when I was trying to get with your mother you know? All beings turn insanely protective of the ones they love. Even if they are up against a legendary warrior! So you have nothing to worry about Mao Mao... Well, maybe you should worry they are going into the monster forest..."

Mao Mao stiffens at that and, seeing as you indeed were headed towards the forest in your blind panic, screams and dashes to save you.

Shin Mao just chuckles as he remembers the same thing that happened in his youth with his now wife.

Unlucky Lucky AU (MMHOPH)

Remember that AU I was talking about a couple of days ago? Well. here it is! Real quick, this AU is based off a great webtoon comic called, "The Misadventures of Misfit and Mieko." The webtoon follows two cats who are cursed with good luck and bad luck. Together, they are on a journey to break their curses and, you know, save the world along the way. I definitely recommend it! So, here's my MMHOPH AU:

Mao Mao comes from a long line of legendary heroes. Heck, even his older sisters are well on their way to becoming the greatest heroes of their generation. More than anything, Mao Mao wants to follow in their footsteps. However, there's just one small, itty-bitty problem with that plan. Mao Mao's cursed with bad luck.

Then, there's Badgerclops. Badgerclops' having trouble with his family, and he's kind of involved with a group of thieves, but he's doing fine. You know, except that he's cursed with good luck. Mao Mao and Badgerclops meet, and they decide to travel together in order to break their respective curses.

Along the way, they meet Adorabat, a young strangely blue bat, who's trying to find her way home and promise to help her. Except, Adorabat's looking for a place that doesn't seemingly exist. Oh, and apparently, they're all destined to save the world.

A silly cross-over I thought about after finishing She-Ra on Netflix while watching Mao-Mao. Adora from She-Ra + Adorabat from Mao Mao = Adorabat-Ra? She-Dorabat? Lol

SURPRISE!!!! I made a MMHOPH OC!!

Her name is Lambina Woolington. She is a sheep girl who moves to Pure Heart Valley to escape the boring life of her old town. But she also needs time away from her overly attached parents who don't know how to give her space. She is kind hearted with a quirky personality, but can also be seen as "strange" or "odd" to some.

Mao Mao tends to not really like Lambina initially, finding her rather annoying and strange, even going far as to judging her based on his own bias. But this bias mainly stems from the contrast of their relationships with their parents. While Lambina gets WAY too much love an affection from her parents to the point where she needs her own space, Mao Mao would to anything to win that same love from his neglectful father. It's because of this that he sees the sheep as "ungrateful" for what she has, even though that is not the case. He later learns that just because someone is strange or different doesn't mean that they are a bad person and to not judge someone based on these differences. He also learns that his opinion is not fact and that not everyone will view things the same way as him, as Badgerclops and Adorabat have no problem with Lambina. Even the King has taken a liking to her!

Oh! And she IS part of an OC x Canon ship. TBH, I was never really into shipping any canon characters with my own OCs, though I do LOVE a lot of OC x Canon ships that other people create. So this is a first for me. But I'll get more into that ship another time hehe. For the time being, can you guess who I ship her with? Hint: It's NOT the Sheriff.

Badger was originally apart of a group of rogue Hunters who exploit the masses for as much loot as possible. Badger in this au is vastly different to his mmhoph counterpart. He's wary and overly cautious. A doctor/surgeon who is a prodigy in medical science

the group was attacked by night terrors and Badger was left for dead. The seals of a small cave were broken during the skirmish. Mao was released and instantly attacked the monsters. Covering everything in gore. Badger suffers from the fear of blood.

Their first meeting Badger faints at the mere sight of him. Fangs bared, blood stained and a maw full of gore.

Eventually the see eye to eye once Badger knows he won't feed off him. So fast forward to them wondering to the kingdom. Adorabat due to her species is ostracised. She's terrified of being alone and clings to Mao and Badger. Mao isn't fond of the situation but pities the child.

As payment for being in service to the kingdom decreed by the royals, a farmer will offer a cow once every 5 months or other livestock once every 3 if a cow isn't available.

I said I would make this account if multiple people were interested but went ahead and made it anyway, I can't get this au out of my head and I need more people to be obsessed with it WITH ME. Here are the refs I recently drew!

A small introduction and explanation. This Alternate Universe exhibits the idea of "What if Badgerclops was a full on bad guy, top tier villain in his home town, most dangerous guy around." I have a similar au, Mao Mao: Vice Versa but this is if Badgerclops left Maos side to be a villain once again.

The difference between these two ideas are:

Badgerclops is physically different, he's more violent and doesn't do petty crime as often, he's extremely dangerous, and badgermao is not a part of this au (not planned to be, at least)

The obvious similarities:

Badgerclops is a bad guy, he and Mao Mao fight... but that's about it.

I'm going to go into a little lore to maybe help those who would like to ask the characters questions.

Mao Mao broke the Ruby Pure Heart on accident, after fighting the sky pirates which is similar to canon so not much has changed with him. His physical appearance is different but that's because his path of life is different from canon. He's mental state and personality are also a bit shifted, ask him a few questions to see what I mean 👀

Badgerclops arrives a few days or weeks before Mao Mao, he was harassing and battling the Sky Pirates for territory before MM showed up and revealed the valley. Since then he causes problems and has to be stopped by MM. He's been going around stealing and harming people for his own reasons, and will now do the same thing in PHV. His physical appearance and mental state/ personality are also pretty divergent from canon so ask him a few questions to see how similar or different he is from canon Badgerclops 👁️

Adorabat still lives with Eugene but she sneaks out when she wants to be trained and taught to fight. She witnessed a fight between Mao Mao and Badgerclops and can't tell if she wants to be a hero or villain. Both seem exciting and fun, much less boring than her everyday life in PHV. Mao Mao tries to tell her why being good is so important but it seems she's imprinted on Badgerclops, who thinks it's funny to mess with their dynamics. Her physical appearance is different from canon but her personality is mostly the same, ask her why she looks the way she does for some answers :))))))

I plan on writing and posting a fic eventually but I can't promise it'll be the best read on the block, I'm terrible with vocabulary :')
