I work at an outpatient mental health clinic. We are county-run, and treat the underserved, primarily. Although we are not allowing the clients to come in, we staff members have to be here to make sure the folks we serve can still get their medication and have phone visits with their clinicians. What we do cannot be done from home, at least as things currently stand. Will you signal boost people out there to send a little love to those of us who do not have the option to stay at home?

Y’all who are on the front lines, going to work, ensuring that our society continues to function, even while everything is so disrupted, are major heroes.

It’s a common characteristic of that particular vernacular to drop the possessive identifier of ( ’s). Thus, one might say, “I’m going to my friend house,” instead of, “I’m going to my friend’s house.” To a non-native speaker, or to one who hasn’t had much exposure to African-American Vernacular English, this must be very confusing!

So, yes -- “my baby mama” would be one step removed from “my baby’s mama.” So I guess, grammatically speaking, in the origin of the usage, the possessive would refer to “baby,” as in “my baby’s mama”/“the mama of my baby.” But then, after it evolved from “baby’s mama” to “baby mama,” the “my” kind of transferred to the whole term. (I’m sure there is a more proper grammatical term for that) My wife, my girlfriend, my baby mama. And now (in my perception at least) it’s used more that way, as a compound noun of its own, and you can just use “baby mama” even without the “my.”

Have I mentioned I love language?

And yes, I can imagine that as a non-native English speaker this would be confusing as hell. Thanks for nothing, David! (just kidding ily)

If you decide to "go for it," download Kodi. Watch some You Tube videos on how to set it up properly, and prepare to never leave your house again, because you can watch anything and everything there is!

I, of course, would never recommend doing such a thing to watch the Expanse, one of the finest TV shows ever. It goes against my personal ethics to advise anyone to download a program like Kodi that would allow any of my followers to watch something like the Expanse, a wonderful show whose owners have made it virtually impossible for new viewers to enjoy. Nope. Never.

Three Ships: MSR... and, more broadly, Jane Austen heroines w/ their heroes. Um... oh, wait! I was obsessed with Marion/Marian and Robin Hood from the BBC series (2006?)-- made crackfic comics (read: pencil doodles) about them in my teens, so that counts. ;)))
