in my alyssa lives au, baelon dies instead (somehow. idk. he gives birth to aegon.) so viserys and daemon are still only raised with one parent but instead of getting a loving if absent father they get the most overbearing boymom this side of the narrow sea.
alyssa wants to try and recreate her relationship with baelon with one of her sons but neither one is a really good pick. viserys is a weird not-boy while daemon is a weird not-girl. but viserys is the eldest while daemon is her sweet baby boy so the brunt of that grooming comes down on viserys. as she tries to force her son into a mold he does not fit. but alyssa doesnt get that. she was groomed into the perfect wife for her brother, she should be able to get the perfect husband out of her son.
alyssa does NOT “save aemma” and infact spends the entire two years that viserys waits for his child bride to at least START puberty before he starts sleeping with her complaining that he “needs to get on with it already” and “be a man” and “give her a grandson”. then when aemma does get her first period alyssas like “well yall dont have any excuse now :/“. and. supervises their delayed wedding night. afterwards shes critiquing viserys performance being like “your father wouldve done it like this.” “your father wouldntve started crying.”

Helaena was sulking with Aegon due to the recent discourses and slight disagreement between them but they still feel the need to spend time with their kids together in the garden.
Jaehaerys and Jaehaera playfully chasing each other and Aegon bounced Maelor in his arm, showing the butterfly perched on the rose meanwhile Helaena busied herself collecting bugs to be added in her growing collection.
Spotting an iridescent bettle, Aegon picked it up and called Jaehaera to come closer to him.
"Give this to your mother." But before he about to say 'Don't tell her it was from me', Jaehaera has already dashed off to Helaena.
"Mama!" Jaehaera called with her sing-songy voice. "Bug for you!" She was smiling wide, sweetly, revealing a gap where she lost her baby tooth.
Helaena beamed at how pretty the bug is as if it was the most precious thing she had after her little family. "Thank you, my darling!" She pecked a kiss on her daughter's temple.
"Papa found it! And—and he asked me to give it to you!" Jaehaera bounced excitedly on her feet.
Yes. Aegon heard that. Crystal clear.
He twisted his body away, facing the other direction, pretending to show Maelor the leaf that may look interesting for his son. Or him.
Jaehaerys came to closer to Helaena to see the bug. "Mama! It looks shiny! And it looks green like Papa's clothes!"
Helaena glanced at Aegon. He was facing away from her with Maelor nibbling on his shoulder, wetting the tunic. As if he knew his Mama was looking, Maelor babbled in excitement.
Aegon tried to get Maelor's attention but eventually defeated and turn to the direction that his son was looking at.
"It was Maelor that found it. Yeah." Aegon was trying to act nonchalant when deep down he wished she could forgive him.
Helaena stiffled a laugh and shook her head. She kept the beetle safe and sound in the case and already decided a name for it.
She would name it Aegon.
Maelor was never missing! Ever!

I'm sick of the argument that "alicent was just scared for her children's lives!"
No. That argument does not track, because if she truly was so afraid, she'd have done everything in her power to have Rhaenyra be as close as possible to her children. She would have fought tooth and nail to have all five siblings be best fucking friends and love one another. But she didn't. She made them enemies by fearmongering and insisting to her sons that Rhaenyra would kill them when there was zero evidence she would.
You don't placate an "enemy" by making them hate you - by usurping their lawful birthright - you placate them by not being seen as a threat.
There is no evidence Rhaenyra wanted her half-siblings harmed, and in the books she insists she'll take them back into her heart if they bent the knee, but they were so twisted by Alicent and Otto's and their own greed for power that they were raised to hate her because Alicent and Otto filled their heads with the lie that Rhaenyra stole their birthright.
Rhaenyra didn't steal anything. Viserys, the King, named her his lawful heir and successor. The greens usurped the lawful heir, and Rhaenyra fought back only after she lost her daughter and her son to the greens; she, at first, wished to fight diplomatically. The greens drew first blood.
Rhaenyra would never have had to harm her half-siblings if they knelt and allowed her to ascend the throne bloodlessly. They didn't. And don't start by stating " but the lords would have risen in revolt!" Possibly, yes, but if the lords revolted and wanted Aegon on the throne, and Aegon had knelt and proclaimed Rhaenyra his lawful queen and refused to be their puppet, he'd be innocent and the rebel lords would be punished for treason.
Rhaenyra could have given her brothers places at court, or even married them to her supporters. But she wasn't given a chance to do that, because Alicent and Otto forced Aegon to usurp her, and then he tasted kingly power and wanted Rhaenyra and her family dead.
Also, before you come at me saying that Rhaenyra, in the show and book, wanted Aemond "sharply questioned", to try and "prove" she'd have killed her brothers, and think she means tortute, thats incorrect. That isn't what that means. It means aggressively questioned. Abruptly. Intensely. Not tortured.
"He should be sharply questioned" means "he should be intensely questioned with verbal force as to where he heard the rumor my sons are bastards" AKA Viserys should have pulled rank as King to demand the truth as to where Aemond heard such treason and thought he could spew it himself.
Tumblr media
"Aggressively" also doesn't mean physically so, but rather this:
Tumblr media
Example: how Dumbledore asks Harry if he put his name in the Goblet of Fire in the movie. That's questioned sharply.
Not torture.

"helaena does not ride her dragon, she has no taste for it." genuinely what an easy line to change into something like "she has no taste for battle" or "she has not been trained for battle." helaena enjoyed riding in the books, and she, aegon, and aemond all became dragonriders in the same year
making helaena a proficient dragonrider who refuses to fight would add an extra layer of complexity to the story and to helaena's character. she "commands" this awe-inspiring beast, but refuses to take to the sky and torch the fields of battle. but with her refusal, more soldiers on her side are burned. but i guess she just has "no taste for it"

on rewatch, the first episode did a really good job in showing how fractured the relationship is with alicent and her children. aemond outright calls her a fool, aegon is resentful that she's still trying to baby him, and the only moment of familial comfort that we saw was when helaena ran to her room in terror after b&c (which ofc backfired). there's also a direct comparison to rhaenyra's relationship with her sons and how night and day it is with its warmth and solidarity

Watching Helaena chatting with the man who ordered her child to be beheaded stone-cold and Branesque and watching Alicent give up her son (as if the son for a son didn't already happen when they killed Jaehaerys) for Rhaenyra is just...
LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY GIRLS
Where is BASTARD BLOOD SHED AT WAR
Where
These fuckass writers are so removed from reality if they think real women operate on basis that even their own sons are expendable evil men and are ready to give them up for weird situationships with other women.
Bet they fuck up Sunfyre killing Rhaenyra because she is a woman and a chosen one and fuck source material.

When Rhaenicents say bs like that I’m just like why? Why would Rhaenyra marry Alicent? She politically inept, her only contribution to the war effort was to cry in bathtubs, and she’s proven to be an untrustworthy traitor. Why in gods name would Rhaenyra marry her? The woman can’t even give her the backing of a powerful family!
you are so right, anon. In hindsight, alicent is technically politically inept, yes, she may have had the Hand of the King as her father but would you really believe Otto's ass to be able to teach his daughter the ways of politics? I get that she may have learned to be adept at it by the time she married Viserys but overall it's not like she suddenly knows how to operate the kingdom, alicent is not intelligent at all...not in the series anyways, if anything, rhaenyra is the most inept of them all including her siblings, she was practically groomed at a young age to be able to operate a kingdom, and since she is basically a princess, she has access to a higher education, education that aren't granted to girls and boys at that time, this is also my gripe with rhaen*cent shippers is that rhaenyra is technically the dumb one, the stupid one, i remember an edit caption where they say that rhaenyra can't tell from her left or right and it just really annoys me because then they'll praise alicent as if majority of what was going on in the series wasn't because of her, as if choosing to believe that viserys chose aegon on his deathbed after vehemently and steadfast in defending rhaenyra and her sons' claim, also mind you, she literally set Mysaria's home or whatever it is on fire, so not only did she kill the women there but also the children, she was also very presumptuous in thinking that the exception of women-no-rule doesn't apply to her, knowing damn well how that would look for a faction that actively fights against the claim of a woman, but sureeeee alicent is the smart, she's the mastermind, she's the victim. SHE IS NOT.
By no means is she even a perfect little victim but these fuckass writers and producers wants us to think oh, poor alicent, she can't do shit at all, she can't think for herself, she doesn't know what she wants, all the while outwardly doing the things she actually wants (wearing green as a call to war, undermining and humiliating rhaenyra and her sons, forcing rhaenyra to come to her chambers to see her baby after she had just given birth, allowing herself to spread hatred to her children, allowing herself to harm rhaenyra and get no repercussions at all) :/, it's as if rhaenyra herself isn't just as tortured when she spent all her life being cast aside by her father and now suddenly thrust into a position where she knows she will be targeted, many will demand her things that they don't demand if a man sits on the throne, like the message isn't received and it's a bad message because it's supposed to say that oh, targaryens or the royal family, they're basically the exception since they're the ones who makes shit happens, rhaenyra is practically safe from misogyny when that isn't the point, the point of F&B is that no matter what class you're in, whether you're highborn or not, whether you're capable or not, you will be subjected to being underestimated and undermined because you're a woman. There is not a single position in this life where you are safe and that is because you are a woman and you live in a man's world. it doesn't matter if you were chosen, you are a woman.

Dragons I think the F&B characters would ride if the dragons had survived the dance (Aegon III reign - Blackfyre Rebellion only):
I've seen people do this trend on several different platforms and it's really fun to think about.
Viserys II - Vermithor (was said to be a potential Jaehaerys I in terms of rule) or his dragon egg hatches but idk what color or name it would have had
Aegon IV - Sunfyre (of course his greedy ass would go for the prettiest golden dragon) also consistent of him to piss off his father by claiming the usurpers dragon.
Aemon - Caraxes (fits his warrior character) consistent of him to claim the dragon that makes his father proud and pisses off Aegon IV the most. I also think he would have claimed Quicksilver if it had lived.
Naerys - I don't see her claiming a dragon. Either she gets an egg that hatches a sickly dragon that dies quickly or Dreamfyre chooses her show Seasmoke style, but she rarely rides it because it is too dangerous for her health.
Daeron I - Vhagar (goes well with his "make the Targaryens conquerors again" campaign and gives Vhagar a revenge comeback lol) Daeron becomes Vhagar's last rider, either by getting too wounded in Dorne or just dying of old age.
Baelor I - Does not claim one. Like his father, thinks dragons are an abomination. If we held him at gunpoint and forced him to claim one though, I think he would have chosen Silverwing since its one of the most docile dragons. Def tried to have the dragons killed but fate intervened somehow.
Daena - Meleys (she has a lot in common with Meleys' past riders, with Alyssa having a similar personality and Rhaenys being passed in a succession crisis).
Rhaena - would probably never claim one but I see her riding Morning like her aunt, if Rhaena of Pentos had passed away sort of young (very unlikely), or Silverwing.
Elaena - Arrax (I saw some art of her with Arrax and it fit bcs of the gold/white pattern) or her egg hatches
Daeron II - Syrax (hear me out...both him and Rhaenyra had their right to the throne questioned and it led to a civil war...either way Syrax ain't doing shit but I can imagine she loves the drama of it all). I imagine Daeron claiming a dragon late, during Aegon IV's reign, which makes AegIV mad as shit and encourages the main bastards to claim one out of spite.
Daemon B - Caraxes (furthers rumors of him being a better option for the throne because wow: Targaryen looks, fit body, charm, legendary Blackfyre sword, AND beloved Aemon the Dragonknight and known badass Daemon the Rogue Prince's dragon?? Give him the crown already)
Daenerys of Dorne - Dreamfyre (I see her claiming her mother's dragon, also Daenerys + Dreams go hand in hand)
Bittersteel - I saw someone giving him Shrykos (Jaehaerys son of Aegon II's dragon) and it made sense. Shrykos was described as fighting till the end in the storming of the dragonpit, similar to Bittersteel carrying the Blackfyre rebellions until his death. Also, Vermithor fits since they both have grouchy personalities.
Bloodraven - Morghul (black dragon that means "death" in Valyrian hello??? Also, the word for "dark sorcery" in JRR Tolkien's world??) Also, I saw fanart of him riding the Cannibal which also fits (he IS the Visenya rider of the Cannibal greenseer, dreamer, part dragon, etc, OC)
Shiera Seastar - Moondancer (fits perfectly with her witchy aesthetic, would think Sunfyre looks tacky :/).
Baelor Breakspear - Vermax (he is sooo Jacaerys)
