Workflows That Work: Bring Order, Focus, and Flow to Your Delivery
Workflows That Work don’t just happen. They’re designed—with clarity, intention, and a deep understanding of how value actually flows through a team. But let’s be honest. Too often, the workflow boards I see in software and digital product teams feel more like a visual mess than a helpful tool. Tickets pile up in ambiguous columns, blocked work is buried under layers of “in progress” confusion,…

Urgency Versus Importance - Which Drives Your Work, Teams And Why We Need Them, Conversations with Jeremy Willets and Jeremy Berriault, SPaMCAST 822
The Software Process and Measurement Cast 822 features a discussion that Jeremy Willets and I had during the Work Intake Summer Camp. The tyranny of the urgent often eclipses work that is merely important. Not understanding the difference between the two concepts and the long-term implications of ignoring what is important can be catastrophic. We will also have a visit from Jeremy Berriault,…

Does Your Team Show Up or Amp Up?
Former NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner’s life story is depicted in the movie “American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story”. One of the most poignant scenes is when he was cut unceremoniously by the Green Bay Packers. After four years of being undrafted, he finally got his shot with the Green Bay Packers. At his first training camp, he was awestruck that he had finally made it. He was so…

Well this hella sounds like their other statement, from months ago, just before their huge layoff. They even used some of the same words and phrasings. Really this doesn’t sound too good for bioware in general 🥲

#they really love using agile and focused team fir their layoff texts in game dev huh?#also: didn‘t the relocating of team members to EA go badly??

I love him so many 💖 @lloonlloon look at my boy go!
I came into the weekend hoping at best Roland would be willing to try a couple obstacles and it would be great experience for both of us, but as always my little man was willing to go well beyond my expectations. he is the best little dog in the world and I’m so lucky to have him with me 🥺
#we slightly modified the standard course since we don’t have the weave poles down yet#but not bad for a team that’s only been doing agility since november!#dog#my pets#roland#agility

I think I have Aayla's retirement plan solidified for obedience and rally. I've spent a lot of time talking with friends and I really think it's time.
She is starting to appear a little more stiff in the mornings and is starting to struggle more and more with weird phases of utility.
AKC
Aayla is entered in a trial in two weeks for UB/OB, if she does very very well I may try and finish the year out to see if she can get her UDX. Yet I would expect her to have a utility Q rate of higher than 50% so that means over the next two weeks she needs to Q 3/5 times she has between this weekend and in two weeks. If she doesn't, then she is retired from AKC obedience and I will not enter her again.
I will then start entering her in rally only to get her RACH. She needs 9 more 3Qs, and she should be able to get that by May of next year. Then she will be retired from AKC rally. She really loves rally and I don't mind doing rally longer with her.
ASCA
I have a trial this weekend and then nationals planned. Aayla will most likely get her OTCh at a pretrial at nationals and compete in utility finals as her last obedience finals. I will not continue on to Superdog next year. After that I will not long travel for any obedience and we will only compete locally at her home training ring until she gets her UDX, then she will be 100% retired from obedience.
Aayla will continue in Rally until she gets her RTCH title. Depending on how she is doing I may be trying to qualify for rally finals next year, if we get in we will attend nationals for one last time for Rally and maybe Nosework/tracking. Then she will be retired from ASCA Rally.
----
All of these are the longest she will go in these sports. I am prepared to retire her sooner if needed. We have Nosework to pick up and I hope to find someone to help with tracking.
She loves training and working still and it's breaking my heart that it's her body that is slowing her down.
#i started crying while talking to her breeder yesterday#her breeder was saying she wishes she had a dog in her home like aayla to trial and compete with#that aayla is the most accomplished sport dog out of her kennel#that aayla is one of a kind#and i know that with my whole heart#i just cant grasp that our more cooperative sport phase is coming to an end#dont get me wrong nosework is incredible and im excited ti work on it#yet there is nothing like working as a team with rally obedience and agility for me

Plan Smarter, Deliver Better: The Secret Behind Confident Forecasting
Confident forecasting starts with something surprisingly simple: knowing how much work your team can actually take on. In fast-moving environments where teams work in iterations—be it Scrum sprints, Kanban cadences, or just regular check-ins—it’s tempting to dive headfirst into tasks without stopping to think about capacity. But that often leads to overcommitment, missed deadlines, and…

For four days and four nights tumblr user cosmik-homo watched a dog show ardently. And on the dawn of the fifth day she awoke, confused, from a death gate themed dream, going, huh.
#not sure it Actually featured dog though.#which is a shame. would've enjoyed watching haplo do agility.#(margaret weis's favored dog sport is flyball byt it's too loud for my feeble mind. and also sorry patryn are Not team sport people)#Haplo Doing Agility has been in my brain for three days actually. he'd be So.

Kiyama DenziYellow wearing his glasses. very important (you agree)
#denziman#give more characters glasses pls ty#every time he wears the glasses we hoot and cheer#he wears glasses so you know hes the 'brainy scientist' of the team but then he's also got the typical boy yellow brute fighting style#and it creates this really amusing juxtaposition#little nerdy baby has never had to fight before now and cant do all the flashy/agile things his teammates can do#so instead relies more on his strength over any particular kind of technique#and i love him#he's so cute i'm grabbing his face and shaking him violently#best thing this show does is put kiyama and akagi in situations together#cause it makes akagi look like a dad taking his son out on an investigation and it kills me#denziwatching

dizzy and I were invited to join a competition obedience class and the instructor said she was “gorgeous” 🙂↔️
#dizzy tag#I told her we are a very new team so having 1:1 attention will be great#and small group size means I can focus on engagement around other dogs#even their foundations class seems very sports focused#they had stuff like finishes and turns and halts in the curriculum#I told her we have not worked on any of that 😅 but she does know agility turns so she’ll get it quick

i have so much fun with ffxiv bc like. me and my friends that play have a wol team and we roleplay tons when we're able to all be on at the same time
sure it takes forever to actually progress bc we're all having hours-long scenes after story events to work out the impact on everyone and, in some cases, who was impacted more than the others (like thorgeim being the one who got framed during that one incident, whereas the dragoon wol had a lot of specific stuff during heavensward, etc)
i'm told there's some shit later on that Complicates the wol-team idea but i don't want spoilers and i'm confident we can work it out when we get there so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#we basically all rp together bc we don't want to get story spoilers from randos...can't even visit venues without that being an issue :(#but it's nice having a static party for basically every story dungeon and fight#we're at....early-mid stormblood now i think? after like...two years lol though part of that is just not having time to play#so many maxed out sidequests and lore things tho...it's great#stirring up trouble#we have another friend who doesn't roleplay but does have some fun insights from time to time and has many helpful tips#and their character is thorgeim's wifey lmfao. they're both so grossly over-the-top affectionate lolol#and then one more friend who basically never plays with us these days but when they do it's like. Top Tier Roleplay. i love...#currently trying to convert other friends to ffxiv (though realistically we're not gonna be on much for a bit but still)...join us...#become part of the wol team....lets get a whole sentai group going lmfao#that or join our all-viera side group bc that is. definitely a Thing. massive tonal shift from the wol team lol i love them sm#the bundie brigade!! their whole gimmick is doing all their fighting in their skivvies basically to show how tough and/or agile they are#they started out as just being silly side characters and became MUCH more than that...oops we gave them lore and trauma#ugh ok i need to stop yelling abt this now. it is Bed Time and i have shit to do tomorrow.#i should draw and post them at some point tho...i love them sm....

For as easy as Moxie is to live with, she doesn't tolerate repetition well which makes her a difficult agility dog to train. I've spent the last month juggling with the idea of pulling her from agility and seeing if we can find something else she likes better while also seeing if I can break agility down into something she can mentally handle. And I think tonight I found that with her.
We did some fantastic short sequences with lots of great attention as well as working on dog walk which she really liked! She doesn't like weaves and they have been very difficult to introduce to her but I feel like we are slowly chipping away with it now that I have put in a minimum amount of repetitions in place and have figured out a way to loop it that prevents her from getting distracted while also not triggering her dislike for collar grabs.
I didn't get her expecting that Ever would surpass her in skills so soon, but Ever is a dog that will make me a better handler while Moxie is the dog that will make me the better trainer.
#bark bark bark#Moxie is a great dog and has the potential to be a good weekend warrior agility dog but she isn't world team material#I think she could produce it but she isn't it#I think most of our conflict comes down to a difference in the training she was raised with and my style
