Who is the other parent of Amberface's second litter? Flareface?
Yep!
Flareface is Amberface’s current mate, and the mother of her second litter - as opposed to Amberface’s first litter, in which she and her first mate were separated even before the birth of their litter of three, two of which ended up not even surviving as well.
Amberface took her first mate’s resistance to do what she wanted as a sign that they wouldn’t work out, and thus, abandoned them. But when two of three kits disappeared, reportedly lost to weakness in the night, she became very overbearing and protective of her last remaining kit - Goldentongue.
But then Flareface came along, saw Amberface was in a position of power, and decided to become the fairlead’s mate purely for the status and power that came with it. Flareface doesn’t love her, but Amberface does - so much so that she was willing to earn the ire of the whole Fealty by stripping her rightful successor of his title, and give it to the secondborn of Flareface’s litter.

Wait.... If Molefang trained Slatenose, then why is Slatenose the head allheal?
It was another strike for Amberface to try and humiliate her ex-wife.
It was intentional. The moment that Slatenose got his full name, Amberface stripped Molefang of her “head” title and gave it to him instead.

What's Spineltongue's family situation like?
[Spineltongue’s name has been changed to Goldentongue]
Not great…
His parents, Amberface and Molefang, grew up together, and had the sort of relationship that two middle schoolers dating did. It wasn’t healthy, but it was full of adrenaline and intentionally bad decisions, and for two young felfolk weighed down with astronomical expectations, it was fun at the very least. As they aged, however, maturing and growing, they also grew apart.
Molefang was drawn to the path of an allheal. It was her duty to care for all, and she became highly adept at it, with a real mind for medicinal knowledge if not a lackluster bedside manner. Amberface grew into her role as successor, but didn’t like how Molefang had become too busy for her. They were still official, but for a significant stretch of time, they were “separated”; Molefang was too busy too fawn over her mate constantly, like how Amberface wanted. But then Amberface rose to fairlead, and Molefang announced that she was expecting, and that was the point their relationship truly fell apart.
Amberface was overjoyed by the news, but Molefang expressed that she had fallen out of love and fully intended on raising their children not as mates. To say Amberface was furious would be an understatement. Throughout Molefang’s pregnancy, she tried to continuously worm her way back into Molefang’s good graces, growing increasingly more slimy throughout it all, until Molefang had enough and snapped. Since smothering her with affection didn’t work, Amberface turned to manipulation and public humiliation, issuing threats that she would ensure Molefang never be a mother to their children, merely a bystander from afar. This sparked panic in Molefang, and when she delivered a litter of three, two mysteriously vanished just a few days after they were born, leaving the loner of the litter to be snatched from his dame’s paws to be directly watched over and cared for by Amberface.
Goldentongue grew with Amberface hovering over him, ensuring that he too wouldn’t disappear or die, and with Molefang being his solace. For a time, he even wanted to take up training to become an allheal like her, but upon learning of this, Amberface shoved his beloved denmate, Slatenose, under her care to prevent this, and assigned him to Gracklepelt, who she assumed would be “weak” enough to prevent him from getting into any real trouble or danger.
But then, Flareface, Charcoalback, and Emberfur arrived. And a few moons later, Marigold and Mint were born. All of Amberface’s attention shifted onto them, leaving a hole in Goldentongue’s life that he never thought would have existed - a hole that grew ever larger once he was stripped of his title of successor, the one thing he had been groomed into succeeding at in his whole life.

How does Slatenose feel about being an allheal, and immediately the head allheal.
He’s got a lot of feelings about it, and none of them are good.
In the beginning, he didn’t even want to be an allheal.
He came into the faction as a foundling fished from a half-frozen river, and, as a result, spent most of his early days being tended to by Sagewhisker - the allheal before Molefang. He found the den stifling, and overwhelming, and once he recovered from the frostbite that still left him lacking a few toes, the tips of his ears, and his sense of smell, he never wanted to return there again.
His only solace was little Goldentongue, who would come into the den to visit his mother. They grew closer that way, with Goldentongue learning from Molefang how to help Slatenose recover. He saw the way that Goldentongue’s eyes would light up, how interested he was in medicine and herbs and healing, and was fully prepared to support him throughout the journey required to become an allheal.
But then, Amberface caught word. And Slatenose was once again shoved into the allheal’s den - this time, permanently.
He was horrified. He felt betrayed - not only for himself, but on Goldentongue’s behalf as well. It was clear that they were meant to be on one another’s paths, and while Molefang did her best to pull favors to get Slatenose proper sharpclaw training, and teach Goldentongue healing, she overloaded herself and couldn’t keep it up. Slatenose did his best, truly, but being an allheal without a sense of smell wasn’t exactly the best. He had to rely purely on his other senses, which lead to him making a lot of mistakes - but eventually, he adapted.
He still wasn’t satisfied, being an allheal. He still felt as though he were robbed. But as he received his full name from his beloved mentor, her eyes shining with pride and understanding, he felt as though he could live with it. And then, the moment they arrived home, Slatenose was announced as head-allheal. He was mortified, guilt crashing down and over him like a tidal wave. Molefang was understanding, and Goldentongue did his best to comfort him, and yet… It was all still far too much.
#slatenose will be one of the ONLY instances of a folk being forced into a healing role#ailurocide#ask#x-critter2022#ailurocide: slatenose#character relationships#ailurocide: amberface#ailurocide: goldentongue#ailurocide: molefang#ailurocide: ignite | earth

May I inquire further as to the specific heir choice in this instance. You italicised the secondborn part so I'm assuming that aspect in itself draws controversy as Amberface is technically skipping two heirs as well.
But why the second kit specifically? Is Marigold the favourite?
Marigold is AFAB. Amberface thought it might be better to present a female heir to the faction, rather than two males in a row. She thought it might soften the blow a little bit.
There are only a few who even knew that Marigold wasn’t the firstborn, at first, but the secret got leaked to the faction, and then to the Evergreens.
Amberface would’ve gotten away with it, and her plan probably would’ve worked to gain her and her new litter some new brownie points, but alas…

Oh wait with the companions being birdy based besides just getting their claws taken (which is. So horrific I choose to not think about it bc aaaaaaaa) but also what if they naturally grow full wings but they’re clipped…
Imagining Castel who gets away before he’s officially clipped. Idk little guy being able to fly slightly is pretty adorable
An avian-based felfolk reach fledgling age at four moons old; their initial flight feathers begin to grow in around this time, and thus, they are clipped to prevent any new flight feathers from growing in their place. They are also declawed at this age.
Four months old in a felfolk is the equivalent of a preteen; 9-12 years in a human.
There are very few shornmuhn Guilds who still do what is widely considered an “archaic and cruel” act via declawing and clipping the wings of their companions; the Sunguard Guild is one of very few (maybe only five, total) Guilds who still practice this. It is meant to purposefully disable their companions, make them reliant on their overseers, as well as be a sort of power play.
It is messed up.
Those who typically oversee the clipping of a fledgling felfolk’s wings and claws are the current sovereign of the lead companion’s family. So, in the Sunguard Guild, Ninette is technically in charge of this act, but the duty is being transferred to Regine.
#ailurocide#take this as you will ;)#DOES castel have his wings still?#he’s quite small… perhaps even a late bloomer… it would be easy for his family to claim that his naturally wings were clipped young#he’s not a fullbred avian-based felfolk as well…#who’s to say?#who is to say indeed.#ask#spotty speaks#ailurocide: castel#nightly-ruse#ailurocide: ignite | earth#ailurocide: pigeon

Who is training Gar as a craft-claw?
Garpelt is undergoing his specialized training at the paws of Frost-tongue!
The Mightmire is currently experiencing a very severe lack of population (their numbers are currently the smallest of any faction) after a plague and famine hit them shortly after Rainpelt rose to power.
New lives have been few and far between (Laurel and Elm have only just graduated to rough-paw status, and Pigeon has only been a keenpaw for about a month or so), so when Frost-tongue announced her pregnancy, the whole faction rejoiced and have been treating her like a queen.
Though this also meant that her duties training Garpelt had to be put on hold, so she didn’t strain herself…
#frost-tongue is like. a little younger than him too#so garpelt has a lot of mixed feelings about it#ailurocide#ask#x-critter2022#ailurocide: frost-tongue#ailurocide: garpelt#ailurocide: ignite | earth

I know you were joking about being an Amberface defender, but is anyone in the Highpeak actually doing that?
Flareface is Amberface’s biggest supporter and defense. Amberface can’t get her paws dirty, but her dainty, spoiled mate has no issues clawing folk across the nose if they dare talk badly about her in earshot of the nursery.
Some other notable Amberface defenders who are a lot more low-key than Flareface in their support:
Sheepbelly is very submissive. If she’s pressured enough, she’ll offer her support to just about anyone - especially those in power.
Crowtail will always support her fairlead, so long as they possess the blood of the strongest line. And Amberface undoubtedly does, even if she’s got some “mud” in her veins as well.
Amberface mentored Cloudpelt, and raised him up essentially to be the perfect supporter for herself.
Ospreyclaw was welcomed into the faction by Amberface, so he’s got a soft spot for her.
Most of the paws’ were born under Amberface’s reign, so they can’t really imagine their faction without her at the head of it. They’re not so much supporters as they are tolerators.
Those are just the primary, and most notable few!

War? What war was the Highpeak involved in when Amberface came to power?
The Highpeak and Undermoor have been at war for several generations, to the point where even the Evergreens have kind of taken a step back off of it because it’s become the new norm and they’re loathe to try and disrupt the flow of things.
The war has been immensely damaging, though. The Undermoor’s role of tunnel-claws has largely been abandoned in favor of pushing all available bodies to the surface to be able to fight at any given moment, and the breaking of so many tools and armor used in battle has caused the Highpeak to overstrip their mountains of resources before they could recover. Much of the culture of both factions has been lost due to their war, but the Evergreens are content to let it “burn out” in the hopes that new factions might rise from the ashes, so they have a clean slate to start over with.
The war started well before Amberface’s birth. I’m going to be making a timeline soon of eras for the Fealty, so I’ll narrow down the exact point in which it started once that goes up :)

How do the other factions view the Highpeak drama? Is it confined mainly to the Highpeak themselves? Is Amberface less respected?
The other factions - including (especially) the Evergreens - are acutely aware of Amberface’s indiscretions. The Evergreens are furious at her numerous reasons: for going against the Fealty’s Way, for stripping a perfectly good heir of his title, for having another litter when her first already had a mate and full intentions of carrying on the line, and then naming her secondborn her successor just to alleviate some of the heat off of her.
The Fealty views Amberface as cowardly, and flippant. A folk guided purely by her heart, by her own desires without the care for others, which is not a quality you want in a fairlead. In the beginning, her faction and the Fealty as a whole regarded her as a good leader, if not a little spoiled and impatient. She was a young life thrust into power in the middle of a war, and thus, she was offered patience and kindness. But due to her recent actions, those feelings have waned quite significantly.
While the details of the drama aren’t public, the broad, general story is. Amberface doesn’t tolerate any gossip while she’s around, and has picked fights at Gatherings to those who badmouth her or her decisions, which has cemented her as strong but foolhardy even more than she was regarded as beforehand.
TLDR: The Fealty thinks Amberface is a spoiled brat who was coddled a bit until she overstepped a line.
