Aino’s very......unique family. but hey! it works! theyre happy :) They used to live all together in a remote hut in the woods (marrying a cambion wasn’t a very popular choice with Kairi’s family) until Aino left for the city to do his ceramics business. He visits occasionally, though! (the patterns referenced are of the Mulgi region of estonia :) )

ok so um. i have been playing baldur’s gate 3 recently...you know how this goes Anyway. Meet Aino!  here’s a little bit about him:

He’s a ranger and a guild artisan.  Before being abducted by illithids he had a nice, secluded lil house on the edge of the city, selling ceramics for a living and doing a bit of wood carving on the side. talking to animals more than the neighbors. Dreaming of living in the actual woods someday, away from the city. He knows a LOT about flora and fauna not only from experience, but from study too. Has a humble little library at home. 

During the after-abduction travels, starts collecting random books he finds, no matter the context. reads them at night by the campfire to pass the time. When he doesn’t have books to read, he picks up woodcarving again. misses ceramics and his little house, but doesn’t miss the pressures of his actual job. or the city for that matter Raises some giant spiders at some point (they leave eventually as spiders are want to do, but he still fondly remembers his five beautiful daughters. to the horror of his companions) Has a vein-related phobia, but is not afraid of blood itself. It’s complicated.

They’re a seldarine drow who never really cared about All That. War WHAT? Lolth WHO? They just want to make music and be pretty 💃 They’re a bard, even tho that option is not in the game yet, but theres a time for everything in the future

They are also a bit of a jock

They decided to leave the underdark for the surface and maybe fulfill their dreams of an entertainer career.

It...did not go as planned. First - they get lost. Second - they tend to spook the locals. Thankfully, they meet Aino while wandering the woods one day and, after a bit of a tense first meeting, he invites them to stay with him for a while  😌

They become friends quickly, and Ülo ends up staying permanently. They help Aino with his work sometimes, when they can’t find work of their own. 

They make their makeup themselves from glowing underdark mushrooms and stuff, and they are very distraught when the materials they brought with them eventually run out. It’s a big drama

They get abducted along with Aino though, so no worries, they’ll get to visit the underdark again eventually :)
