A Lionsgate Movies liberou o primeiro clip do remake da, agora, trilogia Os Estranhos.

No filme de 2008 nós acompanhamos Kristen McKay e James Hoyt, que estão em plena viagem, rumo à remota casa de veraneio dos pais de James. Ao chegar, eles apenas querem descansar, mas seu descanso é interrompido quando três estranhos mascarados invadem o local. O primeiro filme da trilogia será lançado em 2024, mas ainda não conta com uma data oficial.

ANDY L - Hi Doc, I've been meaning to write for a while but been rather busy. Just wanted to say that I’m glad to see the return of horror news to Horror news radio. I think it was a good choice to divide things into horror news radio for news, and Gruesome magazine for reviews. It was often the case in the past or there’s a lot of overlap between what belonged in what feed. This is a much more clear delineation. While I agree with you that it’s nice to see Kurt and Wyatt Russell together on screen, I still have a bit of misgivings about the idea of either a Godzilla or a king Kong series. Not sure if either one is really well designed for that kind of multiple interconnected episodes. However, I will keep an open mind. Thank the crew for the continued entertaining podcast

DON JOE - These all look good to me but a new Marcus Dunstan film gets the vote from me. The dude has a great track record with multiple franchise pictures under his belt with writing and directing credits on Feast, Saw, Collector, Piranha. Although it's just a story credit, his take on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was a lot of fun and showed he could work in the family horror category too. Also loved his Into the Dark episode 'Pilgrim', a highlight episode on an under appreciated series. Here's hoping this next directing credit goes well and gets him even more work.

Film-maker Renny Harlin is directing the remake of the 2008 cult horror film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gabe Basso and Froy Gutierrez will co-star in the movie set to become a trilogy of titles shot in Bratislava, Slovakia. The reboot of the 2008 psychological thriller of the same name, directed by Bryan Bertino and starring Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler, would have Petsch playing a character who travels cross-country with her longtime partner (Gutierrez) in order to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. They are compelled to spend the night in a remote Airbnb after their car breaks down in Oregon, where three masked intruders torture them from twilight till daylight. Harlin directs Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland's script. Lionsgate will handle global distribution. "When setting out to remake The Strangers, we felt there was a bigger story to be told, which could be as powerful, chilling, and terrifying as the original and could really expand that world," producer Courtney Solomon said in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter. “In 1969, life in San Francisco consists of free love, communal living and political protest,” posits the Freak Brothers logline. “Freewheelin’ Franklin Freek (Woody Harrelson), Fat Freddy Freekowtski (John Goodman), Phineas T. Phreakers (Pete Davidson), and their mischievous, foul-mouthed cat, Kitty (Tiffany Haddish), spend their days dodging many things—the draft, the narcs, and steady employment—all while searching for an altered state of bliss. But after partaking of a genetically mutated strain of marijuana, the Freaks wake up 50 years later to discover a much different society. Quickly feeling like fish out of water in a high-tech world of fourth-wave feminism, extreme gentrification and intense political correctness, the Freaks learn how to navigate life in 2020—where, surprisingly, their precious cannabis is now legal.”

The producers will deliver eight 22-minute episodes, along with several mini-episodes. The premiere clip features John Di Domenico guest-starring as Donald Trump. The series was written and produced by Dave Krinsky and John Althschuler from Silicon Valley, and Highly Gifted’s Daniel Lehrer and Jeremy Lehrer. This series will be animated by Starburns Industries (Rick & Morty) and Pure Imagination Studios (The Simpsons).  

The showrunners are Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland, best known for their work on King of the Hill. Blake Anderson and Adam Devine (Workaholics) are executive producers. It is being co-executive produced by Jeffrey S. Edell. Jeffrey S. Udall, Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon, who produced the comic the series is based on, are also producing.

The series will also be executive produced by Gilbert Shelton, who created The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers in 1968 when it ran in an underground Texas newspaper called the Rag. It centered on Freewheelin’ Franklin Freek, Phineas T. Phreak, Fat Freddy Freekowtski, and Fat Freddy’s frisky feline friend. They basically spend their time looking for the most blissful high and traversing bad trips and worse paranoia. Underground Comix, many of them self-published and sold inside or next to subculture magazines, were marketed for adults and didn’t hold themselves to the restrictions of the Comics Code. The first Freak Brothers comic was published in 1971. It has since been translated into 14 languages and sold more than 40 million comics worldwide.

The Freak Brothers is being shopped and will premiere this fall on an as-yet-announced network.
