This is a good sign. My mental health has been a struggle the last couple of weeks. After an EPIC failure on my sourdough I didn’t have it in me to get in the kitchen. Other than a basic white sandwich loaf I haven’t baked in almost two weeks. I needed a break. I need to regroup and start over. My creative side has been struggling lately, which is to be expected. Today is day 69 of quarantine for me. Feeling trapped doesn’t make anyone feel creative. It’s a huge task to manage my mental health right now due to my past history with agoraphobia. Having spent a portion of my life afraid to walk out the door into the world around me doesn’t make being stuck at home, even voluntarily, easy. Baking has been a huge part of my recovery process and an incredible addition to therapy and medication. Not doing it made me feel like I wasn’t myself. I needed something to occupy my brain other than Sorority recruitment this week so I’m back working my way through @alchemybread Bread Baking for Beginners book! For the past week I have been in a love hate relationship with creating and nurturing my sourdough starter, whom I have now name ‘Becky’. Becky has finally gotten her life in order and doesn’t smell like a raging drunk anymore.
