And belated welcome to tumblr from someone else who also spent years seeing tumblr screenshots on reddit and twitter before joining.

I read Significant Digits a while back (immediately after reading HPMoR) and enjoyed it a lot, so thank you for that! More recently, I've tried doing some writing myself, with middling success (a HPMoR, Delve, Mother of Learning and Mage Errant crossover).

One of my readers left a long and fascinating comment on my fic, in which they quoted your review of HPMoR at length: https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/a-call-to-the-dark-city-delve-mother-of-learning-hpmor-mage-errant-multicross.127432/post-30801851

I found that I disagreed with your thoughts quite a bit, which surprised me! My response is in the next post in that chain, but the gist (ignoring context specific to my fic) is this exchange:

Harry does not win the climax of the fic by having overcome his flaws, he wins it through brutal murder. The biggest organic change he undergoes is from believing in the value of truth to advocating for multiple conspiracies against both the wizarding and muggle worlds, and if that's character growth, I find it ugly.

My (shortened) response:

As Alexander Wales notes, Harry *does* change in HPMOR: he becomes less open, less willing to share information widely, and shifts focus from local issues (people and ethics near him) to what he considers global risks and outcomes. As a reader, I'm not too interested in whether or not the change in Harry's character is in a 'good' direction, or whether or not he becomes a better person, or whether or not his views over time gradually approach my own. For me, the most important thing in a story is that it is *interesting* - and I find Harry's arc in HPMOR very interesting.

I'm curious about if you have thoughts on the general debate there - to what extent do you think writers should prioritise faithful simulation of characters and setting vs. giving the characters an arc with an emotionally satisfying conclusion? Or is deciding initial conditions such that accurate simulation leads to a satisfying character arc and emotional conclusion *the real puzzle*?

Thanks again - I've enjoyed your writing a lot over the years, and expect to enjoy it more soon! (About 10 of my readers have independently recommended that I read Worth the Candle based on the stories I've included in my fic, so it's pretty close to the top of my reading list :p )

I've been thinking about how to answer this for a bit, but I think what it comes down to for me is that I want a story to have a clear thematic, emotional, or intellectual through line. I want a story to be about some specific thing, and then take that thing through its paces, and to have us come out the other end having explored that thing in its fullness.

To some extent, I like stories best when they're driving at some singular vision, which I know as a sprawling webfic author probably seems insane. So if the ultimate conclusion is "yes, we should commit conspiracies against people for their own good" then I would like for the early parts of the story to show us why that's the case, ideally by having some truth be put out into the world that causes damage, or by showing how a lesser conspiracy worked to protect something, or whatever else. Or contrarily, if it's the work's position that conspiracies are bad things, then it should show us how and why they're bad, and why this character is making that decision anyway. Or if the work isn't sure how it feels about this thing, I still want them to explore it, to see the different scenarios and thoughts.

I'm an avowed fan of HPMOR, and I am unfortunately the sort of fan that has a lot of critical takes about the things that I enjoy. My biggest problem with HPMOR is that it's not thematically "whole": the individual parts don't feel like they mesh that well together (in my opinion). With that said, I haven't reread HPMOR in a very long time, and my arguments are rusty, so I don't want to give them here.

I think my desire for thematic cohesion is probably work-dependent, but even so, is also probably at the far end of reader preferences. Some people are perfectly happy to read things that are more simulationist in nature: a character does things because that's what they would do, and if this doesn't build up to some grand theme or climactic showdown, so be it. I do think a lot of the trick of writing is making character stuff work in harmony with plot stuff, because you don't want people to feel like "oh, he just did that because the plot demanded it" (though they will say that about almost anything, in my experience).

I don't think that HPMOR is fatally flawed for its thematic wanderings, and I do think there's some sense in which it's best read as a you'd read a TV show with multiple "seasons" which are individually about something but don't necessarily have as solid of a through line. It's just a personal preference thing, I guess.

Uhhhh Damn. Hold on. Lets seee..... I can give you eleven- in no particular order- that come to mind with a bit of searching. but questioner- I read so many fics. This is gonna be a crapshoot of fandoms, so hold on. Of Harrowed Hearts by Sable_Scribe: A Naruto fic which is sadly unfinished- but had an awesome vibe and really dives into the characterization of the Konoha 12 and their potential. It does have Naruto/Sasuke vibes- but when it last left off the slow burn was slow and Sasuke was barely realizing his emotions. The Games We Play by Ryuugi: It's posted on Spacebattles origionally- but it's been reposted a few other places. It's massive- nearly a million words. This was my first real 'Massive fic' i followed as it was updating- and my real intro to Space Battles/Sufficent Velocity as fanfic sites. Also- first Gamer fic that went *way* into the power scaling and endgame stuff. Jaune in this story escalates hard as fuck. I'm talking supernatural kung fu, elemental powers, the ability to destroy cities- And his threats are scary enough to match it. This was before Salem for most of the story- but the Grimm that show up are terrifying. Keeping on the forums real fast- Two Quests (Essentially reader driven stories) deserve to be on this list. Xander [Quest] by one Judge Mental is another of those Monolithic kind of reading experiences. it's massive- on a word count I can't even figure out- spread across like 28 threads. it starts as a simple premise- You are Alexander Harris- and you are born as the reincarnation of Ganondorf. Yeah- that Ganondorf. Things only escalate past that point- to where the last i checked we were possibly the strongest sorcerer on earth- and only 12.

"A Geeks Guide: CORE" series by Sage_of_Eyes. Again, monolithic in scope- it's a complete reimagining of the Highschool DXD mythology (yes, the ecchi novels/anime. Yes it's way deeper then it deserves. Yes, it's also metal as fuck)

Swerving back from forums:

A Drop of Poison by Angel Of Snapdragons: Naruto's Shadow Clones are fucking crazy- and if you've ever wanted to see the power fantasy of them escalating non stop- this is the good shit. Drifting by AlphaDelta1001: More Naruto- but this one has some of my favorite 'Kinda Genius' Naruto moments. It mixes up the timelines, throws in a completley revamped Chuunin exam, introduces tones of new characters- and completely revamps Naruto's methods- if you ever got bored of 'it's all Rasengan' in canon- this is definitely a suggestion.

From Fake Dreams by Third Fang: Fate Stay/Night. Supercharged. This is a bit of a controversal pick- mainly because Third Fang is one of those authors who's sense of humor is... off. Just a bit of that old school Shonen Jump Pervert vibe in the background- snarky comments and purile humor creep around the corners of his writing- but FFD is still immensly fun to read. The power creep- already high as fuck in Canon FSN- goes so high. Where recently Shirou isn't fighting Servants- But True Ancestors. Son of the Western Sea by Mac_Ceallach: If you want Percy Jackson going solo on a world-wide adventure- this is it. its after the War for New York, before the romans showed up- and Its got Percy just... being cool vibing. Hitting into other myths by accident. In contrast, if you want some true off the rocker Percy- An Impractical Guide to Godhood by Antony444 It's technically a crossover with A practical guide to Evil- but if you ever wanted to see olympus and the rest of the percy jackson verse just... implode with chaos? This is it. Flooding Hades with the flaming river- beating Ceaser in Gladatorial Events, fucking with the olympians? This goes hard. The Many Quirks Of Phantom Thievery by PsychicBeagle Persona 5, reloaded. Featuring New Game+ shenanagains, plenty of romance and memes, and puns. If you're a P5 fan, I highly reccomend it. It's Time For Another Good Idea, Bad Idea by Haurvatat: This is a weird one- for one it's Solo leveling, so it's fandom was kinda niche. on the other... It's got Cannabilism in it. But! As a Cook? this is a guilty pleasure fic. The cooking scenes are all written like Binging with Babish episodes, the humor is on point, there's actual stakes and emotions- theres closure? What more does a fic need.

“It’s okay.” Louis’ voice was calm and gentle. Not a trace of fear in his brave glance. If you knew him well enough, you could have caught a hint of insecurity holding back his confidence by a thin thread. He would get away with it a moment after.

“I trust you. You’re the only one I trust.” A whisper only meant for him, to reassure his inner dilemma, to cuddle the intrusive feeling of guilt that was making his hands shake.

The black kopis felt heavy in the middle of his chest. Louis paid enough attention to the historical weapons lessons to recognize the effigy on the handgrip. It was strangely thrilling to find comfort in the thought that Alexander Magnus used the same knife to cut the Gordian knot, literally and proverbially. Almost ironic how much the entire situation could be fitting the metaphor so well.

The pale fingers wrapped around the handle were the perfect contrast to what was going on in his breaking soul. The intentions were so clear, still Louis could see on his face all the second thoughts he was having.

“I trust you and I love you.” Louis reassured him. He hoped this wouldn’t have taken any longer. There wasn’t another way to go through this. Louis felt his own throat go dry and suddenly it became harder to breathe. A flash of determination crossed over his face and Louis knew it could have been the last time he saw those emerald eyes.

That’s one way to go, anyway.

“Do it.” Never had his voice sounded more powerful.

He stared in his eyes when a broken gasp let out his lungs.

“Ad vitam aeternam.” The heavy knife with a forward-curving blade was pushed down, to cut his chest in two.

When Louis’ heart realized there was not a single glimpse of hesitation in Harry’s eyes, it beat for the last time.

For One Night Only: David at the RSC Fringe Festival (oh, and one other thing he probably didn't do...)

For today's post in "obscure things David Tennant did way back when," we'll need to travel back in time to the late 1990s. It was a busy time for David. By May 1997, he'd just wrapped up his first Royal Shakespeare Company repertory season (in which he simultaneously played Touchstone in As You Like It, Jack Lane in The Herbal Bed, and Alexander Hamilton in The General From America). This set of three plays had begun their runs in Stratford in early- to mid 1996; they then transferred over to London's Barbican Theatre, where they had ended their runs by mid-1997.

Next on David's theatre agenda was the role of Mickey in Hurlyburly (a play I've talked about before) which ran at the Queen's Theatre in London from August to November 1997. He then performed a one-off staged reading of Derek Jarman's Blue at the Chelsea Arts Theare on 16 November 1997 (which, by the way, is another little-known DT performance I want to explore!)

That was it for 1997, theatre-wise.

Then, beginning in March of 1998 - as I've explored previously - he began his run as Moon and Brindsley Miller in The Real Inspector Hound/Black Comedy. This double bill ran first at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Surrey and then in London, first at the Richmond Theatre and then at the Comedy Theatre. That play finally wrapped in August 1998.

But a month before wrapping The Real Inspector Hound/Black Comedy, David had popped over to Stratford to do something interesting, something that's the focus of this thread. It was called For One Night Only, and - as it says on the tin - it was, indeed, for one night only!

First, though? A little history!

Around 1990, the RSC began to hold an annual summer festival called the Royal Shakespeare Company Fringe Festival. Intended as a showcase for RSC talent, it included a mix of events: short plays, devised pieces, stand-up comedy, concerts, etc., as well as new works making their Stratford debut. The festival lasted two weeks and saw actors, directors, stage managers, musicians and staff all taking part in more than 25 events. All the events were either on Sundays, or timed around RSC productions, so audiences could go see fringe shows after seeing the actors perform in their usual RSC roles.

Most of the events for 1998's festival took place in a specially adapted 100-seat rehearsal room at the RSC's 'alternative' theatre, The Other Place. But not all of them. Their opening night event - on Sunday, 19 July - was to take place at the Swan Theatre.

That opening night event? For One Night Only!

Starring Desmond Barrit, Emma Handy, and Amanda Harris as well as David, the launch event cost £4-£12 and began at 7:30 pm. It was called a "curtain raiser" as well as "aptly-named."

And just what was it about? Well, um....I know it was organized and compiled by its star, Desmond Barrit...and that it was supposed to take its audience on a journey through the theatre. These articles say so.

But that's about all I know. I wish I had more details.

I am, however, supremely lucky to own a piece of ephemera about this one night only event.

Here's the front and back of my For One Night Only flyer, and as I'm sure you'll notice, it promises "an evening of theatrical prose and poetry...and a little gossip!"

While researching For One Night Only, I came across something else of interest, which I thought for a moment David might have been involved in - an event staged nine days before For One Night Only. But after researching this event in more detail, I don't think he was involved, after all. Such a shame, really. He would've been perfect!

On Friday, 10 July 1998, at 1 pm in the afternoon, some Royal Shakespeare Company members got together to do a fund raiser and preview of the upcoming Fringe in the forecourt of the Other Place. Called a Sonnetathon, this three-hour event featured various RSC members reading all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets!

Now a Sonnetathon would've been right up David's alley, am I right? He'd have loved it! But I'm about 99% certain he wasn't there - and here's why. That Friday night at 7:30 pm, David was onstage in The Real Inspector Hound/Black Comedy at the Comedy Theatre in London, that's why!

But here's why I say 99%. It's not impossible to imagine he got up early that Friday (after doing a show the night before) and took the train in to Stratford to do the Sonnetathon - wrapped it up by 4pm, then hopped on another train back to London in time to make the 7:30 curtain up for The Real Inspector Hound/Black Comedy.

But you have to admit, it seems unlikely.

But The Real Inspector Hound/Black Comedy wasn't showing on Sunday, 19 July 1998, so David was able to get to Stratford and go onstage as part of 'For One Night Only' to open the Fringe...and then get back to London in time to go onstage once more the following night.

So now you know what I know about For One Night Only.

Of course I'll keep looking for more!

11. perc, Dominik kicselezi saját magát és elveszti a labdát, aztán orra esik és döbbenten nézi, ahogyan Kyle Walker elhúz az orra mellett. Rice nagyszerű beadását éppen hogy ki tudja védeni Dibusz. 

15. perc, első magyar helyzet. Séfi talál egy kis részt a Trent-Rice-Bellingham középpályában és egy nagyszerű passzal helyzetbe hozza Dominikot, aki 7 méterről a Holdra vágja a labdát. HajdúB elkezdi Harry Kanet hibáztatni, amiért a meccs előtt összetaknyozta a magyar csapatkapitányt.

25. perc, Harry Kane átvágja egymás után Nagy Ádit, Langot meg Szalai Atit is és gólt rúg, amit Dibusz csak a bal válla felett néz. Az NSO oldalát összeomlasztja meccs thread komment szekciója. 0-2

30.perc, ígéretes megmozdulás Sallaitól Varga felé, akinek a jól irányzott lövését fogja Pickford. Varga térdre bukik frusztrációjában és elkezdi püfölni a földet. Pickford a kis T-Rex karjaival mutogatni kezd neki, Milost Dominik Kalmárt meg Szalai Attila rángatja le a hetykén vigyorgó angol játékosokról. A dúlakodások közepette Trent arcon könyökli Domit. Hosszú, elárult pillantások. Larry, DomiTrent twitter romokban. Négy kiosztott sárgalap. 

33. perc, a Jézusi szám, emlékezteti HajdúB a tikkadozó szurkolókat. Reményteljes kiáltást hallatt, ahogyan Nego a semmiből felcikázik a jobb oldalon, és egy kissé pontatlan, de ígéretes beadással helyzetbe hozza a megilletődött Callum Stylest, aki lányos zavarában egyenesen Pickford karjaiba lövi a labdát. 

4 perc hosszabbítás. Hiába szerez végre labdát a magyar válogatott, csak erőtlen hátrapasszokkal tudja azt megtartani. Rossi torkaszakadtából üvölt a pálya mellett. A kamera Southgatera közelít, aki empatikus pillantást vet a magyarok olasz szövetségi kapitányára. “Egy igazi angol úriember” - jegyzi meg egy lepontozott kommentelő. 

44. perc. Trent Alexander-Arnold megpattanó szabadrúgását Dibusz egy szerencsétlen mozdulattal belepkézi a kapuba. 3-0

Racionális honfitársaink szelíden emlékeztetni próbálják a tomboló népet, hogy ebben az eredményben végülis semmi meglepő nincs. 

Félidő. Utolsó vágóképként a kamera kimeredten mutatja, amint a szurkolók lejjebb eresztik a 6-3-as történelmi győzelemre emlékeztető molinót.

HajdúB elbicsaklott hanggal adja át a szót a sTÚdiÓnAK. Bozsik dadogva magyarázkodik, Matyinak furcsán fátyolos a tekintete. Bognár heves monológba kezd. Miután kétszer használja egy percen belül a "szar" kifejezést, lekeverik.

VargaAttila_01 twitter felhasználó "bennfentes forrásokra" hivatkozva megosztja, hogy elvileg Rossi "báhdzmeg"-et üvöltve lekevert mindenkinek egy taslit az öltözőben. Dominik, miután megmutatták neki a pár százezres banter editeket róla, kért még kettőt. A poszt gyorsan törlésre kerül, és mindenki egyetért, hogy nevetségesen szürreális. A félidőre kivonuló paradicsom fc-t kollektívan mindenki betudja az idegeknek.

56 perc. Az egyébként is szorgosan tűző Nap fénye [bizonyos meterológiai okokból] még erősebben kezdi végezni dolgát, és a fél pályát beláthatatlanná világítja. Kihasználva helyzeti előnyét, a magyar csk végigcikáz a pályán, majd a pillanatnyilag félvak Walkert és John Stonest kikerülve, a hunyorgó Pickford lábai közé gurítja a labdát. 3-2

49. perc, egy izmos letámadás fogalmatlanul hagyja az angol védelmet. Pickford hiába jön ki a kapujából, Nego beadása tökéletesen pattan Varga combjára, aki egy ügyes labdakezelés után, Isten tudja hogy, de a hálóba varázsolja a labdát. 3-1

Az elkövetkező 5 percben semmi érdemleges nem történik azt leszámítva, hogy az angol kommentátor és sportsajtó faultot kiált és a gól érvénytelenítését követeli. Gary Neville dühös tweeteket írogat, Roy Keane szerint az UEFA keze van a dologban. A világ összes többi országa döbbenten figyeli a jeleneteket. A gól érvényes, a VAR vizsgálat hamar lezajlik. Szerencse, hogy senki nem beszél magyarul. Azok akik meg mégis, bőszen hallgatnak HajdúB megnyilvánulásáról miszerint "Puskás Öcsi óvó keze adta az asszisztot a második gólhoz".

Az újult erőre kapott magyar válogatott hirtelen rájön, hogy tud focizni. Miután két gólhelyzetet is kidolgoznak néhány perc leforgása alatt, Southgate cserél a 60. perc környékén. A megégetett Walker le, Trippier fel, Trent a középpálya jobb szélére, Maddison fel. A melegítő Henderson marad a padon, ahogy csak Maguire a védelem szívében.

Két perccel a csere után Maddison elveszti a labdát a tizenhatason belül az ügyesen és szabályosan becsúszó Langnak köszönhetően, amit Kerkez megkap, tovább paszolja a légüres térben mozgó Nagy Ádámnak, aki kiugratja Sallait. Sallai bombagólt lő, a stadion felrobban a magyar szurkolótábortól. A tévé előtt ülőknek nehezére esik eldönteni, hogy HajdúB éppen szívrohamot kap, zokog vagy örömében ujjong a mikrofonba. 3-3

Két magyar játkos is sárgalapot kap miután nem hajlandók abbahagyni az ünneplést időben és visszatérni a pályára.

A játék három percig áll, mert Varga Barnabás a gólöröm hevében véletlenül széttépte Sallai mezét és újat kell neki hozni. Dominik közben Rossi mellé kocog, aki olaszosan magyaráz neki. Örömteli pillanatok.

Fejetlen csirke taktika mindkét csapattól, mindenki is gól akar lőni. Trippier felszántja a beadásra készülő Negot a jobb szélen. A sárga lap elmarad, de kap a magyar csapat egy szabadrúgást. HajdúB rasszizmussal vádolja meg a bírót.

69. perc, szabadrúgás 19 méterről, lehetetlennek tűnő szögből. A lövésbe Maguirenek sikerül belefejelnie, a labda egyenesen landol az angol hálóba. HajdúB összefüggéstelenül üvölt a mikrofonba. Mielőtt Szoboszlait tomboló csapattársai maga alá temethetnék, egyenesen belekacsint az előtte lévő kamerába. Harry Kane csüggedten figyeli őket pár méter mellől. 4-3

Rossi cserél. Varga le, Ádám fel, Séfi le, Styles fel, Nego le, Bolla fel.

75. perc, Harry Kane parádés szólóakciója végül csak egy szögletet ér. A szögletrúgást Trent Alexander-Arnold végzi el, aki egy gyors mozdulattal benyesi a sűrűjébe, de Szalai Attila a meccs első személyes jó megmozdulásaként sikeresen kibólintja.

79. perc, Kerkez letarolja Bellinghamet a tizenhatoson még csak éppen, hogy kívül. Sárga lap és szabadrúgás, amit TAA végez el. HajdúB vinnyogva hörög, amikor Ádám Martin önfeláldozóa, fejjel beleblokkol az egyébként egyenesen a kapu jobb sarkába tartó lövésbe. Ápolás, fejkötés, de Ádám 👍🏼 -val jelzi, hogy tudja folytatni a játékot, mégha kicsit instabilan is áll a lábain.

84. perc, Willi Orbán szereli le a semmiből előtörő Kane-t. Southgate cserél, de a gól továbbra sem jön.

86. perc, Dibusz kiöklözi Bellingham lövését. Az összes magyar szurkoló (és minden antiangol szurkoló) összeszorított farpofákkal figyeli a hátralévő perceket.

89. perc, Styles labdát szerez a saját térfelén és egy jól súlyozott hosszúlabdát kanyarít Sallai felé. Sallait azonban két játékos is akadályozza, egy gyenge lövéssel passzol Ádám Martin felé, aki hirtelen villámsebességre kapcsol. Pickford rossz irányba vetődik, Ádám Martin találata pedig a bal alsó sarokban a magyar csapat ötödik gólját jegyzi. A stadion egy emberként MEDVE, MEDVE skandálásba kezd. Ádám Martin leveszi a mezét és ostort imitálóan meglóbálja a feje fölött. Ezért sajnos jár a piroslap, de igazából már senkit se érdekel.

10 perc hosszabbítás. Rossi támadójátékost védőre cserél. Dominik dorgálóan Milos felé int, Orbán Willi nyugalommal teli bólintást tesz Lang és Szalai felé, majd atyaian körbevonja kezeit a felfutó, kerek szemű Balogh Botond körül. A visszatért NSO capslockos visszaszámlálót indít a főoldalon. A magyar és angol tábor igyekszik egymást túlénekelni.

90+ 3. perc. "Csak még egyet fiúk, ha már lúd, hadd legyen kövér." Könyörög HajdúB.

90+6. perc. Ádám Martin egy méteres lesgólt lő.

90+7 perc. Mindent vagy semmit alapon Anglia könyörtelenül letámad. Még Pickford is kijön a kapujából, de szüntelen. A magyar védelmi sorfal bosszúállókat imitálóan hárítja a legveszélyesebb próbálkozásokat is.

90+9 perc. Ádám Martin szemére rácsúszik a fején lévő kötés, elvéti az egyik passzát, amely így angol játékos lábára kerül. Milos végül csak nem bír a vérével és izomból felrúgja a nagy sebességre kapcsoló Rice-t. Második sárga, piros lap, de már csak egy perc van hátra, mégis kit érdekel.

90+10. perc, Rossi olaszosan az órájára mutogat az oldalvonalon. Southgate ráncolt homlokkal mered a semmibe.

90+11. perc, Orbán kibikázza a labdát, feltartott karokkal néz a bíróra, hogy fújja le a meccset.

90+12. perc, A bíró lefújja a meccset. Városi legenda, de Budapesten kisebb mértékű földrengést mérnek az azt követő másodpercekben.

A magyar szurkolók a német rendőrök legnagyobb erőfeszítéseik ellenére beözömlenek a pályára. Rossznyelvűek szerint a német szervezők nem is próbálkoztak túlzóan a magyarok megállítására, helyette önfeledten nézték az angolok idegösszeroppanását.

HajdúB könnyeitől elázott mikrofonból ugyan nehezen lehet kivenni mit mond, de nagyon boldog. A sTÚdiÓt hiába kapcsolják, Matyi csak zokog, nem bír megszólalni. Bognár örömében szétverte a fél berendezést, sajnos kénytelennek ismét lekeverni az adást. Helyette hosszasan Szoboszlait mutatják, ahogy alsónadrágban ölelgeti csapattársait, stábtagokat és szurkolókat egyaránt. Az angol közvetítést is kénytelenek lekeverni miután Roy Keane ****-nak nevezi őt élő adásban.

On the morning of October 1st, in place of the monthly edition of the V.C. Gazette, a message is sent out to every member in the supernatural community.

The supernatural community is clearly in further uproar. Everyone has received and read this message. While some still believe it to be a prank, no one can explain why anyone would play one as cruel as this. It has come to light that those taken include a wolf from the Lycaon pack, a witch from the Remington coven, an elf from the Westwood clan, and a vampire fledgling from the Roşu clan.

The Council has immediately urged everyone to remain calm while the respective elders handle the situation, but how else would a community under attack feel when they know that their attackers have now captured even more of their own?

No one knows who Artemis is, but everyone is desperate to find out...

We hope everyone will have fun with this plot drop! Players can volunteer their characters to be part of the Vigilantes or Elders. There can only be 4 groups in total - 2 Vigilante groups and 2 Elder groups. Those who have volunteered their characters to be Vigilantes should decide amongst themselves who to lead. There can only be 2 group leaders. Only species elders can lead Elder groups. Should there be more elders than elder groups, players should decide amongst themselves which elders should lead. Non elder characters can choose which leader they wish to follow. * MY BEST FRIEND IS A ROCKSTAR: (tw: death) muse a & muse b have been best friends since they were kids and grew up together. throughout their childhood, muse b had always told muse a about his plans to become a famous musician and as he grew older, became more and more determined to make those dreams come true. when they both hit their teen years, feelings eventually grew and the two were head over heels for each other but neither of them was ever able to admit it. they were both terrified that the feelings would be unrequited or that it would ruin their friendships so just imagine the angst of them seeing each other with other people and FGHDFG. anyway, when muse b finally turns twenty-one, he decides to move to hollywood to make his dreams come true, and muse a stays in their small hometown. they keep in contact with one another but as time went on, muse b becomes a huge rockstar with his band and their contact start to drift but they always had each other in their thoughts, wishing they were closer to one another. a few years pass and they still speak but it’s not like before. muse b was hugely successful and enjoyed the life he was now living but always felt like something was missing. that someone was missing… it’s not until he gets a distraught call from muse a telling him that her mother died does he rush on a private jet and comes home to her. after helping her arrange the funeral and being there for her through her grief, he suggests that she comes on tour with him and the band. wanting to run away from everything and everyone in her small town, she agrees. queue cute ass moments on the tour bus, traveling the world and falling in love like they did when they were young. add drama, angst ( because they’re both still dumb and won’t admit to their feels) stadium tours, TENSION!!!, groupies, etc, etc.

Former air hostess of Qatar Airways turned Bollywood actor, Noor Malabika—hung herself in her Lokhandwala, Mumbai flat a few months ago. June 10, 2024. Her body was decomposed. Friends identified her by the crown tattoo on her wrist and her name underneath.

Chronicles of Prydain Series Book Review

I read the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander, and it was pretty good. The books in the series are The Book of Three, The Black Cauldron, The Castle of Llyr, Taran Wanderer, and The High King. Originally published back in 1964 and based on Welsh mythology, it tells of a teenager who stumbles through one adventure after another adding one and then another compatriot to his band. This series is written for younger readers. These books do not include a map, but there are fan sites where such maps can be found.

In the second book, the protagonist teenager continues his adventures aided by his assortment of companions, a feminist princess, a lying bard, an invisible dwarf, and a Gurgi. Gurgi has the hair of a wookie and the intelligence of Jar Jar Binks and is there for comic relief. The group of adventurers are trying to find and destroy a magic cauldron which turns dead humans into undead warriors. This book is better and darker than the first book in the series. The second book in the series was the inspiration for the Disney animated movie, The Black Cauldron. Reading this book has me interested in the movie even though it's poorly rated by Rotten Tomatoes.

In the third book in the series, the protagonist Taran continues his adventures in Prydain. This time, he has to rescue his princess friend, again, from an evil enchantress who wants to use the princess's magical abilities for evil. Taran also begins to realize he's attracted to the princess which makes for some awkward situations. There are magical items, a giant, sword fights and other typical hallmarks of fantasy, but the whimsy sometimes takes away my enjoyment. However, I realize it's fantastic fantasy for younger readers.

In the fourth book the protagonist, Taran, is becoming a man more and more. He wants to win the hand of a princess and believes he must discover his heritage hoping that his parents were royalty. So, his quest has fits and starts, mistakes and lessons. It turns into a morality tale that it's the mettle which makes a man and not his blood. As this series progresses, it reminds me a bit of the Harry Potter series in that the protagonist grows up and learns more about life and himself with each passing year.

The final book in the series was excellent! It was a Newbery Medal Winner in 1969. Finally, all the different threads of this saga come together in a satisfying conclusion. There are a few unexpected twists and turns and plenty of action. The protagonist gathers all the friends he's gained to fight against the forces of the evil Death King, Arawn. There's a magic sword, magical creatures, and a few spells by an old wizard. The protagonist learns some life-changing lessons along the way. By the end of the series, he's become a man. It's a recommended read!
