Hey so I’m not super familiar with team Russia outside of the girls who make major teams so I’m thinking about team finals next year and like who the hell are they going to put on floor? Lena, the off chance that Melka won’t fall, and the vague possibility of Aliya being ready and not getting injured? Are there girls they left home this worlds or 2018 seniors who are strong floor workers?
They actually have several strong floorworkers!
Lena has room to upgrade her dance elements, so I’m hoping she’ll be in the high 13s next year
Melka’s falls at Worlds were because of her ankle injury. Yeah, she’s incosistent anyway, but things aren’t usually THAT bad lol.
Aliya will be there if she doesn’t get hurt. She’s 100% serious about the comeback
Ulyana Perebinosova has some impressive tumbling (Russian Cup routine), and is also TF worthy on bars. Good AAer.
Maria Kharenkova nearly made the Worlds team, but was left home in favor of Paseka and Ilyankova. Here’s her Russian Cup floor. And of course she’s also TF worthy on beam.
Eleonora Afanasyeva (maiden name Goryunova) is also great (Russian Cup routine). She’s training an Amanar too. Rodionenko said they would invest in her, but she’s already 21 and a mother, so… we’ll see.
Lilia Akhaimova has great tumbling and a DTY. Not great on the other events though. (Universiade FX)
Angelina Simakova is a 2002 baby with nice, clean tumbling (WOGA Classic routine).  She wasn’t peaking for this meet, so her landings are rough, but she looked much better at Junior Japan. Also has a (pikey) Rudi on vault, and is quals-worthy on UB/BB. Solid AAer.
As far as the other 2002 babies: Valeria Saifulina is messy but powerful (routine from March); she’s upgraded to double arabian and 1.5+triple now. Alexandra Shekoldina hasn’t competed FX in a year due to injury, but she’s still training at Round Lake. Here’s half her routine from last November (she got hurt on the 3rd pass:”)). And finally, Viktoria Panchuk showed simple-but-strong passes last November, but like Shekoldina, hasn’t competed FX since then. Hasn’t been at RL much either.
There’s also Tutkhalyan and Elizarova, but… meh.

VRod is saying the Worlds team is Melnikova, Akhaimova, Schekoldina, Simakova + Spiridonova. Anastasia Agafonova is likely as a substitute.

Right; Valentina has been fired, you are picking the team, who are you taking?
Melnikova - AA duh.
Akhaimova - AA + keep your fingers crossed.
Paseka - VT (UB + FX in quals if desperate)
Spiridonova/Ilyankova - UB + BB.
Simakova/Shchekoldina - VT, BB, FX.
