~ Cure Ace was, once again, stressing the whole team out. You weren’t defeating a Jikochuu fast enough for her standards, so of course, she was rushing you. Eventually, her five minutes were up, so she reverted back to her normal self.

~ When the battle concluded, you all went to find Aguri. Of course, when you did, she started scolding you for not being fast enough. That was it for you. You began yelling at her, angry at how she made everyone stressed out because of her own problem.

~ Mana, hating conflict, tried to put herself between the two of you. But that just made you start scolding her as well. You told her it wasn’t okay for Aguri to act like that, and that she shouldn’t let it slide.

~ Fortunately for you, Mana gave up. She knew you were right, so she stopped trying to defend her. She still doesn’t believe that fighting is the answer, but she knows that being gentle isn’t always either.

~ All you wanted to do was have fun with your friends at the mall. And while you did sort of consider Aguri to be your friend, she could be pretty unbearable sometimes. Especially since she felt the need to be overly critical of every little thing everyone did.

~ You passed by a small toy store, and a cute plushie caught your eye. You expressed how you might want to buy it, and Aguri said that you’re too old for toys, and that you should grow up. She had completely rained on your parade, so you lashed out at her.

~ Rikka was happy to join in. She defended you, saying that Aguri had no right to judge other people’s interests. She even admitted to liking cute things too, even owning many frog themed items in her bedroom.

~ Aguri eventually apologized, though obviously annoyed. Afterwards, Rikka took you into the store, and stayed with you while you bought the plush. She even picked out a little frog plush for herself, so you wouldn’t feel alone.

~ Alice usually pays Aguri’s attitude no mind. You, on the other hand, couldn’t. Everyone was having tea at Alice’s mansion, and Sebastian, her butler, prepared not just the tea itself, but also the sweets. They were really good, despite them being a tad burnt. He tried insisting to make new ones, but everyone said they were fine.

~ Despite this, Aguri couldn’t help being overly critical, as usual. You thought that other than being a bit crispy, it was almost unnoticeable that the sweets were a bit burnt. But apparently, Aguri had super-tastebuds, because she kept making jabs about them tasting odd. While Sebastian’s face remained stoic, you knew it was getting to him, so you scolded her.

~ You let her know that the sweets were wonderful, and that she was just being picky. You fully expected Alice to try and calm you down, like she usually does. But instead, she calmly added that Aguri should just be grateful for what she got.

~ After that, Aguri kept her mouth shut for the rest of the tea party, and ate the sweets without any fuss. As you were leaving, Alice pulled you aside to her kitchen, where Sebastian had prepared special sweets just for you as a way of thanking you. Alice thanked you as well for showing respect for him.

~ When you’re a teenager, voice cracks are pretty much unavoidable. Even when you’re an idol, which is the case for Makoto. Even though she warmed up her voice plenty before going on stage, a small crack was heard. Of course, she kept singing, ignoring her small mistake like the professional she is. However, Aguri couldn’t do the same.

~ After the show, everyone went back stage to congratulate Makoto on her performance. But, of course, Aguri couldn’t resist pointing out the tiny flaw. Makoto brushed it off, saying it just happens, and she’ll try harder next time. But Aguri kept on teasing.

~ You eventually told her to shut up, and that it wasn’t a big deal. You also said that Makoto already deals with enough criticism, and is aware of her mistakes, so she doesn’t need to hear any from her friends. Makoto became flustered, and tried telling you it was fine, but you continued.

~ Aguri eventually apologized, and left. Makoto thanked you, but said you didn’t need to do that for her. You let her know that Aguri was being unnecessarily mean about it, and that she doesn’t need hate from her own friends. Makoto just blushed, and thanked you again.

I know what I’m doing after I finish reading Japanese in 30 Hours! (I might keep reading Reading Japanese for fun too just cause... I might as well we will See).

So like curse me if, when I say I will, it makes me not lol. I hope I DO actually do this. Because it sounds so much more clicks-with-me right now than my alternate study plan (which was Nukemarine memrise - which I WILL eventually do ToT I plan it ok, and tae Kim’s grammar guide - which I’m happy to replace with any grammar guide I’ll finish fucking reading tbh).

1. Remembered bilingualmanga exists and I am making no commitments to read anything (tho I have 4 mangas open and an urge to read them for the first time in years since I read yotsuba earlier and followed it). But I will say it’s quite cool I could um read and look words up (ditto for just regular iOS word lookup and Japanese scripts... I’d say ditto for Animelon too and I DO recommend it but I’m just not really an anime watcher).

2. Wasabi Japanese has a: a grammar guide. So my ass is gonna try reading it (in my defense it has audio which I find marginally nicer than the other sources I’ve been looking at... like I literally read Japanese in 30 Hours aloud audio helps me... also why I suspect in part Nukemarine’s decks help they make me listen a lot). https://www.wasabi-jpn.com/japanese-grammar/wasabis-online-japanese-grammar-reference/

3. Even better (to me) wasabi Japanese has b. A grammar drills lesson course that has you shadow and practice SENTENCE PATTERNS AND GRAMMAR. I was literally considering buying a Japanese shadowing textbook for just this purpose (but that textbook was random phrases whereas this is targeted sentence patterns). Also I learn best by just fucking seeing sentence patterns so I kind of suspect an activity like this would click with my brain better than actual grammar guide reading (tho grammar guide reading gives me a useful overview of what to start noticing). Like I literally own the book Japanese Sentence Patterns just cause it was the only thing that clicked... Bonuses about this lesson course wasabi Japanese has: it’s me Doing stuff, I learn best just Doing tbh (it’s why just brute force reading clicks well with me lol). And better, Doing stuff in a streamlined way so I can not bumble as long lol and I have reference if I’m confused (Also why I like graded readers). 4. Wasabi Japanese has lessons through stories, listening reading and shadowing. Phenomenal. Both the perfect chance to test if Listening Reading works some more (which I’m currently into), and to actually DO some things I wanna do like read and practice listening (versus Nukemarines memrise courses which are just flashcards, or playing Japanese video games which is... doable but too draining to be enjoyable or efficient yet). 7. Also I am again contemplating the benefit of just playing audio in the background more. Will I do it? I don’t know. I’d love to play SpoonFed Chinese audio, Japaneseaudiolessons, and Japanese core 2k audio on in the background. As it’s all comprehensible input I know I’d mostly pickup if I just heard it enough to Review it (whereas rn I just hear each audio file once ever on a walk then never again cause I have little time for focused audio only listening). But I feel bad when I play them in the bg and don’t fully listen ;-;. Ah the dilemma. Truly though they’d help so much if I played them in the background I know it... as of this month as an experiment since reading The Word Brain, I’ve been listening to SOME Chinese audio more. Specifically Guardians audiobook, a random Chinese hp audiobook, Alice in wonderland audiobook, silent reading audiobook. You would not believe how much it’s been noticeably helping. Usually it’s avenuex’s Guardian audiobook and every time I catch a bit of it casually in the bg while working, I’m blown away I understand clearly what I didn’t the time before. In particular I’m probably having the most improvements in this novels comprehension, since I’m Listen Reading Method with it too. But like... the first time I focused listened to it during L R? I caught everything with difficulty during the only-chinese audio but English text step 3. And then listening alone only caught the main story beats/scenes (which was already a major improvement for me). Now when working I can actually catch the paragraphs about Guo Changcheng’s family, his uncle, going to McDonald’s - these are details I very specifically remember being the ones I could NOT catch doing listening only the first time post L R. So after idk 3-6 listening of this chapter, just listening again in the background (since L R takes too much time I’m lazy I only do L R once), I’ve made this much progress. I only saw the full definition of everything ONCE one time during L R step 3 once. But just listening more I catch more and more. And of course, as I catch more the unclear parts become easier and easier to maybe figure out. All I know is I severely underestimated the benefit of repeated listening - at least when (at one point once) you comprehended the material. So considering this... I think now with hindsight, yes listening to condensed audio of a show or just a show, that you’ve seen before with English subs/dual subs/in target language and looked unknown words up, in the background probably could help. If at one point you comprehended it before. (So for me Guardian cdrama is hella on this list lol). With hindsight yeah, repeated audio of an audiobook chapter or audio drama you followed the target language subs for before, or that you could read but not hear alone, would probably help listening skills. Definitely my audio flashcard files where they’re literally Built to be comprehensible since it’s English then target language each line. So... yeah in hindsight more audio, even background audio, can help. Guarantee when I’m not L R with the guardian audiobook I’m barely even listening. And still I find myself catching parts of it.

8. My roommate got too excited about Final Fantasy 14 and informed me it’s free to play now.. which I didn’t know. So of course I foolishly looked up if I could play it in Japanese on a PlayStation and looks like answer is probably yes and I am sorely tempted...

9. It’s gonna be wild for me looking back on may progress at the end of the month because: I did almost nothing I planned, I got demotivated then intensely motivated, I’ve done a ton ToT, I also did a ton of Japanese immersion which?? I’m not even counting?? I don’t track my Japanese immersion yet because like... it’s not my priority right now. I read a ton of manhua the other day and just forgot to log it. I watched some of the woh concert and just did not count it, I read a surprising amount of Japanese this month for someone “not studying it much” yet (aka maybe more than I read last time I studied Japanese??). I did a lot of L R method I didn’t even track, I did a ton of background listening and I’m not tracking just hoping for the best. Did I finish 小王子 this month or last month? Whatever month that was I read like 4 Chinese books. I just remembered I read like 3 Japanese graded readers but didn’t count them cause they felt too simple to count (only 28 pages each). I watched 10 Cure Dolly Japanese grammar vids tho not sure how much help it is long term. Whatever time I did the Japanese video games had to count for something even tho it was draining af. Anyway my point is just... count on me to not do what I planned but be more productive when I do that. All that said: I’m more productive when I set plans even if they aren’t always followed, so I’ll keep making them lol. I think I just needed to hit that turning point of “do anything you want, just continue to do something” instead of “complete this first!” (Although I’m still aiming to complete things - or at least go for progressively challenging things). I dunno... I want to say I want to consider just trying to finish things imperfectly just finish them (to motivate me to finish my Hanzi books, Japanese books, courses I find). But knowing me.. I have no idea what will get me to keep going. Just need to remember it’s ok to do it imperfectly. other recommendations, hmmmmm let’s see what I can come up wiiith

(genres are gonna be all over the place, sorry about that)

among anime that I eagerly looked forward to new episodes of, I’d recommend re: zero first and foremost. it’s a “normal guy ends up in an alternate fantasy world” story but it does the trope SO MUCH BETTER than the trope usually gets done. there were already like five episodes out by the time I finally gave it a try and boooyy am I glad I did because it’s just a phenomenal story, very painful, top marks from the pain-loving me

if it’s anime that I looked forward to, then I can’t not mention natsume yuujinchou. the sixth season aired last season with new episodes on tuesdays and as early as thursday I’d be like “TUESDAY IS COMING IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR NATSUME.” natsume is what I call a warm and soft anime - it just feels good to watch it. that said it is six seasons long and it’s episodic with pretty much no overarching plot (though there is some subtle and natural character development that’s just HEARTWARMING) so a lot of people find it too boring but if you don’t mind the episodic nature then it’s so… so good

speaking of warm I also greatly enjoyed amaama to inazuma and udon no kuni no kiniro kemari / poco’s udon world. I say them in the same breath because they have a LOT of similarities: yuuichi nakamura (voice of karamatsu) plays a mild-mannered guy awkwardly bumbling his way through single fatherhood to a young child. the thing that makes them very clearly different stories is that in the former the child is the main character’s four-ish-year-old daughter, his wife recently deceased, and in the latter the child is a three-ish-year-old magical shapeshifting tanuki. for amaama to inazuma there’s also an ongoing manga which I would almost be inclined to recommend over the anime (the art works a lot better imo) if not for the fact that the little girl in the anime is voiced by an actual little girl and it’s so endearing

if you like osomatsu san (and if you’re engaging with my blog it feels safe to assume that that’s the case) then I recommend handa-kun for it’s extremely relatable protagonist and general hilarity. if misunderstandings as a tool for humor is up your alley then handa-kun is the alley itself. hardly anybody watched that show and to this day I cannot understand why. (actually it’s probably because it was a prequel to the similarly underrated barakamon which I also wholeheartedly endorse. there are a few references to it in handa-kun so on one hand if you’re interested in watching barakamon it may be better to watch it first for the sake of those references but on the other hand handa-kun has a very different tone from barakamon so it may feel a bit weird watching it after barakamon unless you leave a gap in between)

another criminally underrated one is alice to zouroku. my god did I enjoy that one, it’s a found-family story featuring a young girl with extremely limited worldly experience and a grouchy old man with a heart of gold (ngl I based the explosive engineer in tata on this guy after the first episode because I was so deeply intrigued by the unusual character archetype). it goes through a few shifts in genre and leaves a looot of loose ends but imo it is SO WORTH IT for the really wonderful themes along the way

so that’s what I can come up with for recent anime, and for older/less recent anime the first thing that comes to mind is definitely steins;gate, which is pretty highly acclaimed so I’d be surprised if you’re not already familiar with it. BUT, what gets talked about much less is robotics;notes, which I also very much enjoyed. as you can tell from the semi-colon it’s by the same author as steins;gate (and I THINK, I might be wrong but I THINK it’s also the author of re: zero?) and there are parts that stick out very vividly in my mind, so vividly that I also distinctly remember sitting in the school cafe talking about these parts to a friend because holy shit

I also will never miss an opportunity to scream to the sky about hyouka because MY GOD I loved hyouka and it was so beautiful and so interesting and yes it’s kind of slow and quiet but it’s a highschool slice-of-life pseudo-mystery with a focus on characters and character development so of course it’s gonna be a bit slow and quiet. also the main character is voiced by yuuichi nakamura so, y’know, lil bonus there for those who are as deeply attached to karamatsu as I am

and! tales of the abyss. play the game if you can (it’s for ps2 and has a 3ds port) but if you can’t then the anime, while not necessarily what you might call pretty or well-animated, is an admirably faithful adaptation for being limited to two cours. the protagonist is one of the most deeply human characters with some of the most realistic and thoughtful character development I’ve seen out of anything ever and I will never stop recommending it, but do play the game first if it’s within your ability because it is, naturally, much more thorough in its storytelling and also is very rewarding by nature of being a game

back to anime that’s just anime (and boy is it anime), I’ll always enthusiastically endorse shirobako, the quintessential anime about anime, specially about anime production. I’ve heard that it was supposed to have four cours but due to scheduling conflicts it was cut down to just two and I will never know peace knowing that I could have had twice as much shirobako as what I got

and now that I’ve been through aaaaaall that how about some MANGA

there’s three right off the bat that I very very VERY highly recommend but I’ll do em one at a time for the same of organization. first, I’ve said it before and I’m still waving my arms in the general direction of the promised neverland if you’re not already reading it. if you’re more of an anime watcher than a manga reader you just wait a while and I have no doubt in my mind that an anime announcement will spring up

next, I’ve actually been wanting to recommend this one for a really long time: dungeon meshi. it’s sorta like d&d meets shokugeki no souma - a party of penniless dungeon crawlers crawl through a dungeon trying to save the main character’s sister, and because they’re penniless they cook and eat monsters. it’s CRIMINALLY funny and extremely well-illustrated and the plot has been seriously heating up lately and there aren’t nearly enough people reading this manga

and third is to you the immortal / to your eternity / fumetsu no anata he (not sure which is the more accurate translation of the title). a strange immortal rock has the power to take on the form of things that have a big impact on it, and by experiencing bigger and bigger impacts the entity gains a sense of identity and purpose, plus a whole bunch of forms that he can shift between at will. it’s by the same author who did koe no katachi (which I also highly recommend, both the movie and the manga are really really great - though the manga covers much more than the movie)

I would also recommend yotsuba& / yotsuba to but I don’t want people to think I have a type (I do have a type, it’s family themes. lay them sweet sweet family themes on me). I’m honestly really surprised that this one’s still never gotten an anime. a soft and fluffy story about a single dad raising his extremely energetic small daughter

there’s probably a loooot more, especially manga, but I have completely run out of energy and that’s a pretty extensive-feeling list as it is so I’m gonna leave it as it is for now. hope something in here piques your interest!

When in your company, she tries to keep the whole Pretty Cure thing out of conversation to reduce the risk of any drama. But of course, she still intends to bring you to the good side.

Mana: “Hey (name)! We’re all going to the mall. Wanna come?”

(name): “You’re inviting me? Even though I’m-“

Mana: “Oh please! Don’t worry about that. We’re still friends! Now c’mon, let’s go!”

~ In her mind, someone as kind and caring as you can’t be all that bad. So she constantly tries to use that as an attempt to help you turn good. She’ll talk about how good it feels to be nice, and how if you wanted to, you could choose to do so all the time.

Cure Heart: “Wow, that was a close one! It was so nice of you to save that child from the Jikochuu!

(name): “I had to. They had nothing to do with this.”

Cure Heart: “I knew you’re not all bad!”

(name): “Oh Mana…”

~ She treats you the nearly same way as she treats Regina. Meaning she includes you in as many adventures as she can, and always tries to defend you when the others get mad at your label as a Selfish. In fact, she treat you even better than Regina, because you’re much kinder than her, so there’s more to work with.

Makoto: “Why are you inviting (name), Mana? They’re a Selfish. They don’t belong here.”

Mana: “Aw, c’mon. Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh? After all, they’re still a great friend!”

Makoto: “How great can they be if they’re one of the people who helped take over the Trump Kingdom?”

Mana: “Makopi, please have some compassion! I’m sure they did it because they never knew about being good! They were only doing what they were told. I’m sure if we let them, they can switch sides!”

~ It always makes Cure Heart’s day when you help out in battles. It makes her so happy how you go out of your way to fight against your own side when innocent people’s lives are in danger. It gives her even more hope that you can be reformed, and more determination to help you.

(name): “Cure Heart, look out!”

Cure Heart: “Woah, that was close! You saved me, thanks! Hey, don’t you think you’d make a good Pretty Cure? You’re so caring, I think you’d be a natural!”

(name): “Haha! Not a chance.”

~ When she first met you, Rikka tried her hardest not to be your friend. She thought it would be easy, considering you were evil. However, when someone who’s a walking ray of sunshine comes into your life, it’s hard to not warm up to them.

(name): “Hey guy! I brought cookies!”

Rikka: “They’re not poisoned, are they?”

(name): “What? No? Why on earth would they be?”

Rikka: “Because you’re evil?”

(name): “Yeah, but I’m not a monster! Just try one!”

Rikka: “Hmm… these are actually pretty good.”

~ She would’ve preferred not to see you, to avoid conflicting feelings. But of course, Mana couldn’t care less. She tried talking some sense into her, trying to get her to understand that you were evil, but to no avail. Knowing Mana’s tendency to not give up seeing the good in people, she just learned to bear with your presence. Although, she can’t help but enjoy it when it’s so nice.

Mana: “Hey guys! Look who’s here!”

Rikka: “Who?”

(name): “Hello!”

Rikka: “Oh. Hey (name)…”

(name): “Ha! You’re smiling! That means you’re happy to see me!”

Rikka: “No!…”

~ Sometimes, she forgets that you’re on the bad side, and finds herself being friendly with you. She hates to admit it, but she thinks you’re fun to be around. But of course, once her memory comes back, a pit of guilt in her stomach makes her distance herself from you once again.

(name): “Hey, I know that book! It’s really good!”

Rikka: “Really, you like it?”

(name): “Yeah! The twist at the end is so good! Oh, sorry! I don’t wanna spoil.”

Rikka: “Haha, it’s okay. I’ve actually already read this a few times. I really like it too.”

Makoto: “Rikka! A Jikochuu is nearby!”

(name): “Aaand that’s my queue to leave!”

Rikka: “Oh… yeah…”

~ Conflicting feelings once again find themselves in Cure Diamond’s mind whenever you choose to help them out with fighting Jikochuus. She knows she should dislike you for being a Selfish, but she can’t help but remember Mana’s way of thinking. Afterwards, her demeanor towards you alters a bit. She continues being friendly to you, but when it comes to Pretty Cure stuff, she never lets that get in the way of saving the Trump Kingdom.

Rikka: “Hey (name).”

(name): “Hey Rikka! Wow, you’re actually talking to me first?”

Rikka: “Haha, yeah. I just wanted to say that it was really cool of you to save Mana like that.”

(name): “Oh, it was nothing. I just didn’t want my friend to get hurt. You know I’d do the same for you, right?”

Rikka: “Yeah… I do.”

~ Alice just went along with whatever Mana did. So when Mana decided to be your friend, so did she. She didn’t really care much about you being a selfish, just as long as you weren’t purposely hanging out with them to target them. But you weren’t, so she treats you with the utmost kindness and hospitality.

*Alice’s car pulls up next to you*

Alice: “Good day, (name). The girls and I are having a tea party later today. You’re welcome to attend if you’d like.”

(name): “Wow, really? That sounds like fun! I’d love to!”

Alice: “Wonderful. Would you like to ride in the car with me, or would you rather teleport.”

(name): “Eh, teleporting’s too boring. Besides, I’ve never ridden in a car before!”

~ While she trusts you, she still keeps tabs on you, just to be safe. She has security cameras everywhere, so there’s no avoiding her watchful eyes. It’s not a secret either. Just ask, and she’ll admit it.

Alice: “How was Makoto’s concert, (name)?”

(name): “Great! Wait, how did you know I was there?”

Alice: “My family owns the security cameras in the building she performed in.”

(name): “So… you were spying on me.”

Alice: “(name), I’m aware of everything that happens around the city.”

(name): “Oh…”

~ Anytime a potential fight or argument threatens to break out due to you being a Selfish, Alice quickly and calmly stops it before it can happen. She prefers to keep your “job” something only to be talked about during Pretty Cure related things.

Aguri: “Why is the Selfish here?”

Alice: “Because they’re our friend.”

Aguri: “They’re no friend of mine.”

Alice: “Please, Aguri. Let’s not argue. Just enjoy the party; something unrelated to our jobs.”

~ The main reason Cure Rosetta treats you as a friend is because of your kindness. She knows that if you were truly evil, your kindness wouldn’t even be a fraction of what it is. So she believes that it’s not worth it to hate you. Over time, her thoughts are only proven more true as you continue to help them out during battles. Any true villain couldn’t care less about people they know getting hurt, never mind innocent bystanders.

Makoto: “I can’t believe (name) still has the nerve to show their face. Especially after all they’ve done.”

Alice: “Makoto, isn’t (name) a big supporter of yours?”

Makoto: “Well, yeah. But that doesn’t matter.”

Alice: “I beg to differ. If they were truly so bad, don’t you think they wouldn’t be listening to your music?”

Makoto: “Hmph…”

~ Makoto made no effort whatsoever to be your friend. She refused to talk to you as much as possible, not wanting to interact with one of the people responsible for the taking over of her home. Convinced it was all an act, she despised you for even having the nerve to be so friendly with the others.

(name): “How’s your day been, Makoto?”

Makoto: “It was fine until you showed up. And don’t call me that. If you want to refer to me, call me Kenzaki.”

(name): “Woah, no need to be so cold!”

Makoto: “I have every right to be cold.”

~ Anytime you showed your presence, her attitude immediately shifted to a grumpy one. She did not want you around, and she didn’t even try to hide it. She made many attempts to get the others to stop hanging out with you, but none were successful. If only Mana weren’t so keen on seeing the good in people.

Mana: “Hey Makopi! Look who’s coming to the mall with us!”

Makoto: “Oh, it’s them. I’m second thought, maybe I won’t go.”

(name): “Aww, c’mon Makoto! It’ll be fun!”

Makoto: “I told you, call me Kenzaki. We’re not friends, and never will be.”

~ Eventually, against her will, Makoto seemed to begin warming up to you. It started when she found out you were a fan of hers. She found it annoying at first, and would give you signed merchandise to get you to leave her alone. But over time, she would find herself anticipating your interactions with her. But of course, she’d never admit it.

Makoto: “We needed to get rid of some extra stock, so here’s a CD of some of my older songs. I already signed it.”

(name): “Oh my gosh, no way! You’re the best, Makoto! Thank you!”

Makoto: “I’ve told you many times before, call me Ken- You know what? Never mind.”

~ It confused her a lot when you’d help them out. You cared way too much for the innocent and those you considered friends, even though you were supposed to be harming them. The one thing it took for her to finally trust you was you saving her. Since then, she no longer treated you with disgust and hatred. Instead, she greeted you with soft, barely noticeable smiles. She even talks to you, and laughs at your jokes.

Cure Sword: “Why did you save me?”

(name): “Because you’re my friend, Makoto.”

Cure Sword: “No I’m not.”

(name): “To me, you are. Even if it’s one-sided, I still care about you. But I don’t think it’s one-sided. After all, you let me call you by your first name now!”

Cure Sword: “*sigh* You know, I tried my best to hate you. But you just keep making it harder. I don’t even think I still do at this point.”

Mana: “Wanna go hang out at Alice’s house, Aguri?”

Aguri: “Will the Selfish be there?”

Mana: “You mean (name)? Yeah, why?”

Aguri: “Then I’ll have to pass. Sorry.”

~ But unlike Makoto, her feelings are much more easily swayed. Of course, she’s still very stubborn. But she knows she’s growing to like you. And besides, she doesn’t show her love for her other friends that much either. For you specifically though, she’s much more cold.

Aguri: “Hello Selfish.”

(name): “Oh, hi Aguri! Wow, you’re actually talking to me!”

Aguri: “Hm, yeah. But that doesn’t mean I like you.”

(name): “Haha, I’m not convinced.”

Aguri: “What was that?”

(name): “Oh, nothing.”

~ She carefully and closely studied your relationship with the others, and took note of how caring you are when it comes to their safety. She also took into account how you also care for the safety of random bystanders. This was what really pushed her to finally trust you.

Aguri: “Selfish, why do you go out of your way to help others? You’re supposed to be evil.”

(name): “Well, because I care about them. The bystanders have nothing to do with what’s going on. And, of course, you all are my friends. So why wouldn’t I save you?”

Aguri: “But you’re not supposed to care.”

(name): “Then I guess that’s what makes me special!”

~ After a while, she finally allowed herself to bond with you. You finally earned yourself the right for her to talk to you, to which nobody ever thought would happen. She even considers the two of you to be friends. Though, of course, she’d never say it out loud. But don’t take it personally. However, when it comes to the sake of her kingdom, don’t expect her to spare you.

Aguri: “Can you pass me the cake (name)?”

(name): “Sure! Wait, you didn’t call me ‘Selfish’! You actually said my name!”

Aguri: “Yeah, yeah. Just gimme the cake.”
