In all the severe cases of parental alienation I have worked with, each child has experienced repressed positive memories of their alienated parent, a parent they once had a positive relationship with. Positive memories surface through the alienation process; they are emotionally painful for the alienated child. The child feels extremely guilty if they see their alienated parent or think good thoughts about them. The child pushes these memories away to survive the situation. The good loving memories with that parent are stored. Sometimes, the child can feel as if their thoughts are monitored by the parent they have aligned with, afraid they will disappoint them or break their trust. The child feels guilty for participating in the alienation process and rejecting a good loving parent. They can feel completely at fault for the entire situation. 👉As a parent, no one should have to ever make this decision! But I did... My child had already been alienated from me for awhile. I remember afterwards, crawling into bed and never wanting to leave! I mourned over the loss of my child hourly, yet my child was a short distance away, and very much alive. I went through all the same emotions a parent goes through who has lost a child to death. The pain some days was more then I thought I could bare. I clung to my child's toys, breathing in the last scent of his clothing.. Had I made the wrong decision, played over inside my head like a broken record! My Narcissistic Abuser could never file in court on me again, per the judge! I was finally free but had lost my child.. I became numb inside. Daily going through motions but have basically no recollection of time, days or events. My world stopped the day I was forced to walk away to save my child from being abused and used. It was a 50/50 chance to help my child. 👉When meeting with a GAL or child advocate. We want this person to understand what we've been through, what we've had to endure, deal with, and what the Narcissistic abuser has done to our child. So often we focus on the details of proving our case! Don't do this! Show evidence clearly without diagnosing your ex-spouse. Allow the child advocate or GAL to determine a diagnosis of Narcissist abuse. Allow them to arrive at a baseline of problems and the next steps. This is key for your case!
