I made a group too
I liked the idea of making my own group as well, so I made a group. I've had the concept in my head for a while, but never actually formed anything. Fics for this group will probably hop between here and my side blog. And yes, I have put WAYYY too much thought into this. There are some details missing still. Anyway, here's the group.
Zodiac
Zodiac is a twelve member boy group that debuted in June 2022. Each member has a different Zodiac and Star sign. The members are Jehyuk, Daehyun, Wonjae, Arthur, Merlin, Taehoon, Jihoon, Woong, Minseok, Youngbin, Junseok, and Jasper
Fandom: Astrologers
Yang Jehyuk
Leader, main dancer
Born Feb 4, 1992 (Aquarius, year of the Monkey)
ENTP
Jehyunk doesn’t sneeze. He’s got rhinitis caused by a deviated septum, but that primarily just causes itchiness and congestion. It also means he never knows when it’s going to be set off. It almost never causes sneezing. He doesn’t have any allergies or sensitivities. He is slightly photic, but it only ever triggers if he’s got a cold. This is because a cold makes his nose just sensitive enough for the photic reflex to actually trigger. Normally when he’s not sick and he walks into the sun, he’ll feel like he needs to sneeze, but it almost never culminates into anything. Because his rhinitis is unpredictable, he sometimes has trouble differentiating between a cold and rhinitis. If there’s a cold already in circulation and wakes up with symptoms, he just automatically assumes he caught it too. Although, half the time he’ll wake up the following day perfectly fine. This has caused members to say he has a fairly strong immune system because he gets over his colds super fast.
Already completed Military service
Kim Daehyun
Main rapper
Born March 2, 1993 (Pisces, year of the Rooster)
ISFP
Daehyun has got mega allergies. If it’s a plant that produces pollen, he’s allergic to it. The only time that he gets any sort of reprieve from his allergies is essentially during the winter when nothing is blooming. Seeing as they’re both sneezing all the time, Daehyun rivals Taehoon as the sneeziest member. Daehyun sneezes a lot like BtoB’s Minhyuk, and he always starts off covering, but if he’s having a particularly intense fit, he eventually gives up. He rarely gets sick, but when he does, it has a tendency of knocking him off his feet for at least a day
Already completed military service
Park Wonjae
Main rapper
Born April 10 1994 (Aries, year of the Dog)
ENFP
He is a major germaphobe and heavily pushed to have his own room in the dorm, so he wouldn’t have to share a room with anyone if they were to get sick. Without fail, Wonjae almost always loses his voice when he’s sick. His sneezes are pretty powerful, frequently causing his entire body to move. They’re of medium volume. He always tries to cover his sneezes and coughs, whether it be in a tissue, handkerchief, or elbow. He always has hand sanitizer on him and his members refer to him as the dorm’s pharmacy, because he keeps everything well stocked. He doesn’t like taking care of the others when they’re sick due to being a germaphobe, but if he’s the only one available, he will do it. He also doesn’t want to spread whatever illness he catches to his members, so when he’s sick he always wears a mask, even around the dorm and will try to stay in his room as much as possible. As far as Wonjae knows, he doesn’t have any allergies.
Already completed military service
Arthur Hwang
Main vocalist, producer
Born May 14, 1995 ( Taurus, year of the Pig)
Korean-American
ESFP
Arthur doesn’t have any allergies or sensitivities that he knows of, but he is a fairly frequent sneezer. He sneezes at least twice per day and he always sneezes in doubles. He always has tissues or some kind of handkerchief on him because his sneezes are always messy. Whether there’s spray, snot, or both, Arthur always needs to clean up after he sneezes. He also never gets sick in the chest cold or head cold kind of way. If he’s sick, he either just has a fever, or it’s a stomach bug. He’s an independent sickie. That is to say, he is almost always upfront when he’s sick, but unless he can’t walk for whatever reason, he refuses to let anyone take care of him.
Merlin Bang
Main vocalist, producer
Born June 16, 1996 (Gemini, year of the Rat)
Korean-American
INFJ
Merlin is allergic to bird feathers and nothing else. He also doesn’t have any sensitivities. His members found out he’s allergic to birds because the one time they had a pillow fight with pillows full of feathers was a disaster and a half, however none of them have made the connection with him feeling sick and bird migration patterns. This is in part because he gets sick a lot. He seemingly always has either a chest cold or a head cold. He’s always carrying a thermos of tea.
He has a younger sister who is a soloist under her Korean name Bang Jihye whom he teases relentlessly
Seo Taehoon
Main rapper
Born July 7, 1997 (Cancer, year of the Ox)
ISTJ
Taehoon is allergic to both cats and dogs, yet is the member to advocate the most for having pets in the dorm. Because of this, he is quite sneezy even though he takes allergy meds every day. Jaewon is the only member that knows about Taehoon’s allergies because Taehoon has gone to him in the past for help on particularly bad days. However, the others have their suspicions about him having allergies, even though he hasn’t said anything. His sneezes are of medium to loud volume, and he always sneezes in multiples of threes. He doesn’t get sick terribly often.
Already completed military Service
Jang Jihoon
Lead dancer
August 7, 1998 (Leo, year of the Tiger)
ESFJ
Jihoon is a very loud sneezer. His sneezes rival that of AB6ix’ Park Woojin. He is very allergic to dust, so the members try to keep the dorm as clean as possible to save their eardrums. Jihoon rarely gets sick, or at least he’s very good at hiding it. When a bug passes through the dorm, the members are frequently amazed that he somehow didn’t catch it even though he’s been interacting with everyone as normal. In reality, he was probably one of the first ones to get sick, but managed to conceal his symptoms from everyone.
Kang Woong
Main dancer
Born Sept 16, 1999 (Virgo, year of the Rabbit)
INTJ
Woong is an extremely photic sneezer. To the extent that his members think that he has allergies when he doesn’t. He thinks being a photic sneezer is weird, so he hasn’t told anyone. He doesn’t sneeze super loud, but he does lose focus on whatever he’s doing in favor of getting the sneeze out. This has occasionally caused traffic jams in the doorways of buildings when exiting and his photic reflex gets set off. He doesn’t get sick very often, but he is very dramatic about it and has a tendency of needing to be forced out of bed to go to schedules when it’s just a minor cold.
Kwak Minseok
Lead rapper
Born Oct 7, 2000 (Libra, year of the Dragon)
ESTJ
Minseok doesn’t sneeze very often, but when he does it’s going to be a fit of at least ten. This is a little problematic for him, because he’s also a chronic stifler. If he’s having one of his rare sneezing fits and he’s caught stifling by one of the hyungs, they will frequently go up to him and remove his hand from where it’s clamped over his nose, forcing him to sneeze normally Lim Youngbin
Lead vocalist
Born Nov 12, 2001 (Scorpio, year of the Snake)
ENTJ
Youngbin doesn’t have any allergies, but he’s pretty sensitive to scents. Spicy food and being full also make him sneeze. He loves spicy food even though it makes him sneeze. He’s frequently a bit of a sneezy mess by the end of lunch or dinner, because his food is always spicy. When his sneezing is spice induced, he always sneezes in rapid fire triples. If his sneezing is caused by a scent, he will wind up having a fit of like thirty sneezes spread over the course of an hour. Sometimes it’s less, sometimes it’s more, depending on how long he was around the offending product. This has caused all stylists that work with the group to receive a list of allowed perfumes they can wear.
Guk Junseok
Main vocalist
Born December 10, 2002 (Sagittarius. Year of the Horse)
INFP
Junseok is a very quiet sneezer. To the extent that he has sneezed in front of his members multiple times, but the only one that actually hears him is anyone sitting directly next to him. Even then the member doesn’t initially think they heard anything until he sneezes three more times. Junseok almost always sneezes in quadruples. However, if he’s sick he’ll only sneeze once instead of in fits. Therefore it’s rather easy to differentiate between his regular sneezes and his sick sneezes. He’s allergic to dust and pollen
Jasper Choi
Main dancer, maknae
Born Jan 1, 2004 (Capricorn, year of the Goat) was born just after midnight and has a tendency of insisting that he’s an 03 liner because of being born at 12:02
Korean-American
ISTP
As far as Jasper knows, he doesn’t have any allergies. However, since some members adopted some pets and brought them into the dorm, he has been sneezing a lot more frequently than he normally does. Somehow he hasn’t made the connection and thinks he’s just developed non-allergic rhinitis and he just has to deal with sneezing a few times a day. He is not nearly as sneezy as Taehoon or Daehyun

Can Dirty Air Ducts Make You Sick? An In-Depth Analysis
Maintaining clean air ducts is not just a matter of home maintenance—it's crucial for health and well-being. In this comprehensive article, we will explore how dirty air ducts can impact your health, the signs that your air ducts might be in poor condition, and actionable steps to address and prevent potential health issues.
Understanding the Role of Air Ducts in Your Home
Air ducts are essential components of your home’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. They facilitate the distribution of heated or cooled air throughout the different rooms in your house. When functioning correctly, they ensure a comfortable indoor environment. However, when air ducts become dirty, they can lead to numerous health concerns.
Health Risks Associated with Dirty Air Ducts
Allergic ReactionsDirty air ducts are a breeding ground for allergens such as dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander. When these particles are circulated through your home’s air system, they can trigger allergic reactions and exacerbate conditions like asthma and rhinitis. Individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions are particularly vulnerable.
Respiratory IssuesProlonged exposure to air contaminated by dust and mold can lead to respiratory issues. These can manifest as chronic coughing, wheezing, or even more severe conditions like chronic bronchitis. Mold, in particular, can release mycotoxins that irritate the respiratory tract.
Increased Risk of InfectionsAir ducts can also harbor bacteria and fungi. When these microorganisms are distributed throughout your home, they can lead to infections and other illnesses. This risk is particularly pronounced in homes with high humidity levels, which can exacerbate mold growth and bacterial proliferation.
General DiscomfortPoor air quality resulting from dirty air ducts can contribute to general discomfort, including fatigue, headaches, and a feeling of malaise. These symptoms are often overlooked but can significantly affect overall quality of life.
Signs of Dirty Air Ducts
Visible Mold GrowthIf you observe visible mold growth inside your air ducts or around the vents, it’s a clear indicator that the ducts need cleaning. Mold spores can be harmful when inhaled and can contribute to various health problems.
Increased DustAn increase in dust accumulation on your furniture and floors might signal that your air ducts are not functioning efficiently. This excess dust can be a result of inefficient air filtration or dirty ducts.
Unpleasant OdorsPersistent unpleasant odors emanating from your HVAC system could be a sign of decaying organic matter or mold within the ducts. These odors can contribute to an unhealthy living environment and discomfort.
Allergic SymptomsIf family members frequently experience allergy symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, or runny noses, and these symptoms improve when away from home, dirty air ducts could be the culprit.
Preventive Measures and Solutions
Regular Inspections and CleaningScheduling regular inspections and cleaning of your air ducts is crucial for maintaining indoor air quality. Professional duct cleaning services can remove accumulated dust, mold, and other contaminants, thereby reducing the risk of health issues.
Improving Air FiltrationUpgrading to high-efficiency air filters can significantly reduce the amount of dust and allergens circulating in your home. Ensure that filters are changed regularly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Controlling Humidity LevelsKeeping indoor humidity levels below 60% can help prevent mold growth within the air ducts. Dehumidifiers and proper ventilation can assist in maintaining optimal humidity levels.
Addressing Leaks and DamagesInspecting and repairing any leaks or damages in your air ducts is essential. Leaky ducts can lead to energy loss and allow contaminants to enter the system.
Maintaining the HVAC SystemRegular maintenance of your HVAC system, including cleaning and servicing, can prevent issues that might lead to dirty air ducts. Ensure that the system is functioning properly and efficiently.
The Importance of Professional Duct Cleaning
While some cleaning tasks can be performed by homeowners, professional duct cleaning services offer a thorough and comprehensive approach. Certified professionals use advanced tools and techniques to ensure that every part of your air duct system is clean and free of contaminants. They can also identify and address underlying issues that might contribute to poor air quality.
Conclusion
Dirty air ducts pose a significant risk to your health and comfort. They can contribute to allergic reactions, respiratory issues, and general discomfort, all of which can impact your quality of life. By recognizing the signs of dirty air ducts and implementing preventive measures such as regular cleaning, improved air filtration, and maintaining proper humidity levels, you can ensure a healthier indoor environment. Professional duct cleaning services play a crucial role in maintaining clean air ducts and protecting your health.
By taking proactive steps to manage and maintain your air ducts, you not only enhance your home’s air quality but also safeguard your family’s well-being. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent serious health concerns and contribute to a more comfortable living environment.

Types of Mold Sickness: Comprehensive Guide to Recognize the Signs and Symptoms
Mold is a common household problem that can have serious health implications if left unaddressed. This comprehensive guide will help you understand the different types of mold sickness, recognize the signs and symptoms, and take appropriate steps to protect your health.
What is Mold Sickness?
Mold sickness, also known as mold illness, refers to a range of health issues caused by exposure to mold spores. Mold is a type of fungus that thrives in damp, warm environments, and its spores can become airborne, making them easy to inhale. When these spores enter the body, they can trigger allergic reactions, respiratory problems, and other serious health issues.
Types of Mold Sickness
Allergic Reactions
Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): Exposure to mold can cause symptoms similar to hay fever, including sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes, and throat.
Asthma: Mold exposure can exacerbate asthma symptoms, leading to increased wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
Respiratory Infections
Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: Mold exposure can lead to infections in the nasal passages, sinuses, and throat.
Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: In severe cases, mold exposure can cause infections in the lungs, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
Toxic Mold Syndrome
Mycotoxicosis: Some molds produce toxic substances called mycotoxins. Exposure to these toxins can cause a range of symptoms, including headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and cognitive impairments.
Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS): This condition is triggered by prolonged exposure to mold and mycotoxins, leading to chronic inflammation and a host of other symptoms, such as muscle pain, joint pain, and neurological issues.
Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms of Mold Sickness
Allergic Symptoms
Sneezing and Runny Nose: Frequent sneezing and a persistent runny nose are common signs of mold allergy.
Itchy Eyes and Throat: Mold spores can irritate the eyes and throat, causing itching and discomfort.
Skin Rashes: Exposure to mold can lead to skin irritation and rashes.
Respiratory Symptoms
Coughing: A persistent cough, especially if it's dry and non-productive, can be a sign of mold exposure.
Wheezing: Mold exposure can cause wheezing, particularly in individuals with asthma.
Shortness of Breath: Difficulty breathing or feeling short of breath can be indicative of mold-related respiratory issues.
Systemic Symptoms
Fatigue: Chronic exposure to mold can lead to unexplained fatigue and weakness.
Headaches: Frequent headaches, especially if they occur after spending time in a damp or moldy environment, can be a symptom of mold sickness.
Cognitive Impairments: Difficulty concentrating, memory problems, and brain fog are common in individuals exposed to toxic molds.
Severe Symptoms
Fever and Chills: In cases of mold-related infections, fever and chills may occur.
Chest Pain: Persistent chest pain should be evaluated by a healthcare professional, as it could indicate a serious respiratory condition.
Neurological Symptoms: Exposure to toxic molds can lead to neurological symptoms such as dizziness, tremors, and even seizures.
Preventing and Managing Mold Sickness
Prevention
Control Humidity Levels: Keep indoor humidity levels below 60% to prevent mold growth. Use dehumidifiers in damp areas like basements and bathrooms.
Proper Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation in areas prone to moisture, such as kitchens and bathrooms. Use exhaust fans and open windows when possible.
Fix Leaks Promptly: Repair any leaks in roofs, walls, or plumbing to prevent mold growth.
Clean and Dry: Regularly clean and dry areas prone to mold growth, such as showers and windowsills. Use mold-killing cleaning products.
Management
Remove Mold Safely: If you discover mold in your home, remove it safely. Small areas can be cleaned with a solution of water and detergent, but extensive mold growth may require professional remediation.
Seek Medical Attention: If you experience symptoms of mold sickness, seek medical attention. A healthcare professional can provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
Use Air Purifiers: Air purifiers with HEPA filters can help reduce mold spores in the air, improving indoor air quality.
Improve Home Insulation: Proper insulation can help prevent condensation and reduce the likelihood of mold growth.
Conclusion
Understanding the types of mold sickness and recognizing the signs and symptoms is crucial for protecting your health. By taking preventative measures and seeking timely medical attention, you can minimize the risks associated with mold exposure. Ensure your home is a safe and healthy environment by keeping it dry, well-ventilated, and free of mold.

Ayurvedic Ways for Treating Allergies
Allergies can have a big influence on our everyday life by making us uncomfortable and upsetting our routines. While modern medicine provides good care, the ancient Indian holistic healing system known as Ayurveda offers different methods that emphasize the body's natural defenses and balance. Here, we'll look at a few Ayurvedic treatments and techniques that can effectively control and relieve allergy symptoms.
An Ayurvedic Approach to Understanding Allergies According to Ayurveda, allergies are caused by an imbalance in the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), which regulate many physiological processes in the body. An allergic reaction is a sign of increased sensitivity to a particular chemical, which sets off an immunological reaction. Restoring dosha equilibrium is the goal of ayurvedic practitioners in order to boost immunity and lessen allergic reactions.
Tips from Ayurveda for Managing Allergies Nutritional Modifications: Ayurveda places a strong emphasis on nutrition in preserving health. Including foods that soothe the irritated dosha can help with allergies. Vata can be balanced, for instance, by eating warm, cooked foods and avoiding cold, uncooked ones. meals that balance the Pitta dosha, such as ginger, cucumber, and mint, help minimize mucus formation, while meals that balance the Kapha dosha, such as spicy foods, can relieve inflammation.
Herbal Remedies: Strong anti-allergic qualities are found in Ayurvedic medicines. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric helps reduce allergic rhinitis and skin allergy symptoms. A mixture of three fruits called triphala helps to maintain healthy digestion and immunity in general. Nettle leaf, which has long been used to treat hay fever, can also help with seasonal allergies.
Nasya therapy: This is the process of putting herbal powders or oils into the nasal passages. Nasya therapy is helpful for sinusitis and allergic rhinitis because it reduces inflammation, clears congestion in the nose, and enhances respiratory function.
Detoxification (Panchakarma): Through a variety of purifying techniques, Panchakarma therapies seek to remove toxins, or ama, from the body. This lessens the body's sensitivity to allergens by balancing the doshas and boosting the immune system.
Lifestyle Changes: Adopting regular practices (dinacharya) that are in line with Ayurvedic principles, like yoga, meditation, and oil massage (abhyanga), can improve general health and strengthen resistance to allergens.

What is Asthma? How it can be Cure in Ayurveda?
Tumblr media
Asthma is a medical condition in which a person’s airways become inflamed, narrow and swell and produce extra mucus which makes it difficult to breathe. This condition is also known as bronchial asthma. It is a chronic condition, does not go away and needs ongoing medical management. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs.
What is an asthma attack?
When you breathe normally, muscles around your airways are relaxed, letting the air move easily and quietly. During asthma attack, three things can happen-
Bronchospasm – muscles around the airways constrict .when they tighten, it makes your airways narrow. Air cannot flow freely through constricted airways.
Inflammation- lining of your airways becomes swollen. The Swollen airways don’t let as much air in or out of your lungs.
Mucus production- during the attack, your body creates more mucus, this thick mucus clogs airways.
Causes of Asthma
Asthma has multiple causes-
Allergic – in some people allergies can cause an asthma attack.
Non allergic- outside factors can cause asthma. stress, exercise and weather may cause asthma
Asthma triggers – Exposure to various irritants and substances that trigger allergies can trigger signs and symptoms of asthma, Asthma triggers are different from person to person and can include:
Respiratory infections such as common cold
Airborne allergens such as pollen, dust mites, mold spores
Cold air
Physical activity
Air pollutants and irritants such as smoke
Intense emotion and stress
Environmental irritants
Certain medications including aspirin, and non-steroidal, anti- inflammatory drugs
Children and adults who are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of asthma.
Gastro esophageal reflux disease
Asthma is more likely in people who have other allergic conditions, such as eczema and rhinitis.
Symptoms
Symptoms of asthma can vary from one person to another person. Symptoms sometimes get significantly worse, this known as an asthma attack.

Shortness of breath
Coughing or wheezing attacks that are worsened by a respiratory virus such as cold or the flu
Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing
Chest tightness or pain
dark blacks in front of eyes
fatigue
rapid breathing
frequent infections
trouble sleeping
anxiousness or panic
dizziness
confusion
Risk factors of Asthma
A number of factors are thought to increase your chances of developing asthma includes-
Having a blood relative with asthma, such as a parent or sibling
Having another allergic condition, such as atopic dermatitis which causes red, itchy skin or hay fever which causes a runny nose, congestion, and itchy eyes
Being overweight
Being a smoker
Exposure to exhaust fumes or other types of pollution
Exposure to occupational triggers, such as chemicals used in farming, hairdressing and manufacturing
Complications-
The complications of asthma includes-
Signs and symptoms that interfere with sleep, work and other activities
Emergency room visits and hospitalizations for severe asthma attacks
Side effects from long term use of some medications used to stabilize severe asthma
Diagnosis
The doctor will ask about the signs and symptoms of the disease to the patient. Doctor will listen your breathing with a stethoscope. He will ask you about the family history. He will take his past medical history. He suggest some of the following tests to the patient-
Lung function test
Blood test

5 Things Not To Do If You Have Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis in Singapore, also known as hay fever, is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It occurs when the immune system overreacts to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander, leading to symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes. While there are several ways to manage allergic rhinitis, there are also several things that you should avoid doing to prevent symptoms from worsening.
5 THINGS TO DO IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIC RHINITIS
Are you experiencing a runny nose and sneezing without knowing what is happening to you? You might be experiencing hay fever. Many people have it, and you cannot be the only one. But even if many experience this health problem, you should know what to do to see the steps you need to take. To help you, here are things to do if you have allergic rhinitis:
Tumblr media
1. AVOID ALLERGENS
The most important thing to do if you have allergic rhinitis is to avoid allergens that trigger your symptoms. For instance, if you are allergic to pollen, try to avoid going outside on days when pollen counts are high. If you are allergic to dust mites, wash your bedding in hot water and vacuum your carpets regularly. If you have a pet allergy, keep your pet out of your bedroom and wash your hands after petting them. By avoiding allergens, you can reduce the severity and frequency of your symptoms.
2. DO NOT SMOKE OR BE AROUND SMOKE
Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke can irritate the nasal passages and worsen allergic rhinitis symptoms. If you smoke, consider quitting to improve your overall health and reduce the risk of worsening your symptoms. If you get exposed to secondhand smoke, such as in the workplace, consider talking to your employer about creating a smoke-free environment. If you are around friends or family members who smoke, avoid being in the same room or ask them to smoke outside. You must remember this if you will undergo sinusitis treatment in Singapore.
3. DO NOT RUB YOUR EYES
Itchy eyes are a common symptom of allergic rhinitis, but rubbing them can worsen the irritation and lead to more severe symptoms. Rubbing your eyes can also introduce bacteria and other irritants, leading to infections or other complications. Use a cool compress or over-the-counter eye drops to soothe the irritation if your eyes are itchy. If the symptoms persist, talk to your doctor about prescription eye drops or other treatments.
Tumblr media
4. DO NOT OVERUSE NASAL SPRAYS
Nasal sprays can provide relief from allergic rhinitis symptoms, but overusing them can worsen your symptoms over time. Using nasal sprays for more than a few days can lead to rebound congestion, which occurs when the nasal passages become more congested than before using the spray. If you need a nasal spray, follow the instructions carefully and only use it as directed. If you have concerns about using nasal sprays, talk to your ENT specialist in Singapore about other treatment options.
5. DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR HEALTH
Allergic rhinitis can affect your overall health and well-being, but neglecting your health can worsen the symptoms. Maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep to support your immune system and reduce stress. Stress can worsen allergic rhinitis symptoms, so consider practising relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga. Also, stay hydrated and avoid alcohol, which can dehydrate the body and worsen nasal congestion.
Allergic rhinitis can be a frustrating and uncomfortable condition, but there are several things you can do to manage your symptoms. By following these tips, you can reduce the severity and frequency of your symptoms and improve your overall quality of life. If you have concerns about your signs or need help managing your allergic rhinitis, talk to your ENT doctor in Singapore or visit the website of Dr Jenica Yong for personalised advice and treatment options.

Epistaxis also called acute hemorrhage or nose bleed is a medical condition in which bleeding occurs from the nasal cavity of the nostril. Nose bleed can occur due to a trauma to the nose, due to accident, or injury to the interior of the nose from pricking. Nosebleed or epistaxis can be classified according to their site of origination as anterior and posterior. Anterior nosebleed is common and does not require medical attention, while posterior nosebleed is rare and requires immediate medical care. Epistaxis is common in children and older people.
Symptoms
Bleeding usually starts from one nostril. In case of heavy bleeding, it may fill up both the nostrils and overflow the nasopharynx. In certain cases, blood may drip back from the nose through the throat to stomach. A person is likely to vomit in such a condition. The common signs of excessive nosebleed are:
• Excess blood loss may cause dizziness and fainting, confusion, loss of alertness and light-headedness. However, the condition is rare.
• Bleeding from other body parts like teeth, gums, nostrils, etc. indicate inability of blood to clot.
• Additional bleeding from other parts of the body, such as bleeding gums when brushing teeth, blood in urine or bowel movements, or easy bruising also indicate an inability of the blood to clot.
Causes
The major factors that cause epistaxis or nose bleeding are broadly categorized under local (fracture due to a sharp blow, or nose-picking, etc.) and general factors. Nosebleed generally starts from just inside the entrance of the nostril, on the middle harder part of nasal septum. Blood vessels of this region being fragile, rupture easily and begin to bleed. The factors causing nosebleed possibly are:
• Structural or anatomical deformities like hereditary hemorrhage.
• Nasal sprays and prolonged usage of nasal steroids (particularly prolonged or improper use of nasal steroids).
• Middle ear barotrauma due to sudden change of pressure.
• Surgery such as functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
• Exposure to warm, dry air for prolonged periods of time.
• Allergic rhinitis.
• Deviated or perforated nasal septum.
• Cocaine use.
• Infectious disease (cold) or high blood pressure.
• Connective tissue disease.
• Certain drugs like aspirin, warfarin, isotretinoin, desmopressin, etc.
• Pregnancy (rare, due to hypertension and hormonal changes).
• Vascular disorders.
• Vitamin C and vitamin K deficiency.
The following are the risks of epistaxis:
• Re-bleeding.
• Running nose.
• Swelling and numbing.
• Bruising face.
• Anemia.
• Nose deformity.
The following precautions and measures can help prevent nose bleed:
• Give away the habit of nose-picking.
• Always blow your nose gently.
• Do not smoke.
• Use of a humidifier in winters when the indoor climate is dry.
• Using a saline nasal spray to keep inside of the nose moisturized.
• Avoid any facial trauma by wearing seatbelt or shoulder harness while driving, and using headgears when playing sports.

THE SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF ALLERGIC RHINITIS?
Running nose – initially there will be a running nose, where the mucosal discharge will be watery in nature.
Headache – heaviness in the head and there will be difficulty in lifting the head due to accumulation of mucus in the sinuses.
Pain in the sinuses –  there will be an accumulation of mucus in the sinus cavities for a long time leading to infection and inflammation of the sinuses leading to sinusitis.
Watering of eyes –  when exposed to allergens irritating the eyes, histamines will be produced as a response. Histamines cause eyelids and conjunctiva to become swollen, itchy, red, & watery.
Nasal blockage – as the disease progresses, the mucosal discharge becomes thick and purulent in nature. Sometimes we can see blood stains in the discharge.
Cough – swelling and irritation in the airways and also exposure to allergens trigger cough
Fever – Hay fever will be present when an individual is exposed to allergens.
Malaise – general discomfort will be seen when there is an infection in the body.
Change of voice – as this disease involves the upper respiratory tract, there will be inflammation of the larynx caused by allergens/infection & narrowing of the nasal passage which leads to a change in resonance of the voice.
Confusion/disorientation – as an allergic response there will be brain fog. Individuals experience mental fatigue and face difficulty in concentrating on daily activities.

Ancient Allergic Rhinitis Treatment In Ayurveda By Women At Home
Managing allergic rhinitis has always been one of the issues humanity faces. Maternal lineage remained the custodian of many households that women mainly led. A sign of remedies to problems caused by allergies was evidenced in most cases. Among the Ayurvedic practices that have had sharp minds for centuries, methods that promote natural and holistic approaches to health in allergy rhinitis have been honourably and remarkably admired.
Hay fever is clinically termed as allergic rhinitis treatment in ayurveda due to allergens sensitivity such as pollen, dust mites, pet hair or certain foods. Its symptoms, which include sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes, are often a nuisance as they hinder everyday life and reduce general well-being. Part of the quest for alleviation has involved Ayurvedic practices, wherein traditional remedies have found acceptance in many seeking solace. In Ayurvedic medicine, the treatment of allergic rhinitis focuses on restoring the balance of the three doshas- Vata, Pitta, and Kapha- called the “tridosha.”
