All Hallow’s Faire: May’s Theme Entry
Pokemon:
Blaziken: Fire Spin, Sky Uppercut, Blaze Kick
Beautifly: Psychic
Venusaur: Vine Whip, Toxic
Shinx: Double Team, Scary Face
Music: Each Justice - Etrian Mystery Dungeon Soundtrack
Note: Please assume the italicized speech is Japanese. I was going to translate it but why make it harder to read?
Say for the giant pumpkin they were meant to carve, there were no supplies out when May stepped out—slow, patient, a ghostly contrast to their skeletal figures—onto the stage.
She stood in the center of four figures who were mere shadows of themselves. Blaziken stood to the audience’s far left of her, painted head-to-toe in almost entirely black say for the eyelids which were painted yellow to shine bright on the stage. Next to him stood Venusaur. He, too, was invisible say for his eyes. On the far right, Shinx; dressed the same as his comrades. Even May was a floating pair of human eyes. Only Beautifly looked different, for, being a bug type, May had to get creative. Her delicate wings required delicate paint, but eventually she found a berry mixture that allowed her to paint black and yellow over the naturally colorful patterns that Beautifly possessed; her “eyes” mimicking the natural pattern of an Arbok.
But how would the audience enjoy the show of an invisible group of performers? Well… they would have to watch and find out.
Heels clicked against the stage floor as May stepped forward; the only noise on a silent stage that waited for the music to play. “Beware of what lurks in the forest on the night of Halloween.”
It would be the last thing she’d say in English for her foreign audience to understand. A risky move, she knew, but not knowing what she was saying, she was sure, would add to the creep factor of her performance.
And then the music began. Loud, booming, it signaled the true start of their performance.  “Shinx, Venusaur, let’s set the mood!”
Right away, the shortest pair of eyes lunged forward—a large roar erupting from a surprisingly young body. SCARY FACE was difficult to see in the dimly-lit stage, but a solution was coming.
“Do it!”
Scary Face may not have been that visible, but the shiny, reflective sheen of TOXIC very much was. But Venusaur could only toss it into the air. It would take some control to get it into the proper shape.
“Beautifly, it’s your turn!”
Fluttering to the front, Beautifly took form with a magenta Psychic. Not only was its own body outlined, but the attack took hold of the entire ball of liquid, catching it in midair and stilling it for a couple of seconds, waiting for May’s cue.
“Now!”
Now, Beautifly began to form the shape that had been formed for her. A Scary Face, ready and waiting and now perfectly visible as Toxic was shaped by Psychic.
“Now, Blaziken! Light it up!”
As cool as the dark trick was, at some point the audience needed to be able to see the pumpkin! So Blaziken made his way around the back edges of the stage, putting his FIRE SPIN to good use.
“Okay, be a dear and give the pumpkin to Venusaur, won’t you?”
This was the part that was nauseating to go through. SO many SKY UPPERCUTs had failed here. SO many had busted the pumpkin. But in the end, they had gotten it down—figured out how to get those claws under control. And so the pumpkin was tossed into the air, leaving Venusaur to make the catch with VINE WHIP.
“Okay, Beautifly, shall we stamp our place in the competition?”
It was carefully done. Beautifly had to be sure to impress only the mouth onto the pumpkin. And, being acid, a clear sear could be heard when it was pressed in—a dripping could be seen when it was pulled out—but they hadn’t cut clean through the pumpkin.
“Alright, now let’s get these details on!”
And thus, Psychic began to mold Toxic into a new and simpler form: a pen, ready to draw more complex lines into the pumpkin.
“Blaziken! Shinx! Let’s put on a show!”
And Shinx once again went into SCARY FACE, this time following it up with a DOUBLE TEAM that would take over the entire back row of the stage. At first, it seemed like a simple distraction from the goings on in front of him. But Blaziken followed up with a series of BLAZE KICKS that filled in the eyes and mouths that Shinx had created—an ominous symbol of what was to come as Beautifly finished drawing with its Toxic Pen.
“It’s time, Beautifly!”
And Psychic spun Toxic beautifully into the air, leaving it to freefall helplessly at the whim of gravity… but not for long.
“Let’s go, Shinx!”
A horde of young Shinx would push the flaming Scary Faces forward, colliding them into the ball of Toxic. Flame and explosive came into contact, and fireworks shot into the stage, making a show of dissipating the toxic and the scary faces.
May grinned, and stepped back along with her team to gesture to their pumpkin. They had created a forest scene: trees and grass none too complicated (created out of the scary-face teeth) were adorned with scary eyes and a couple of bats hiding in the shadows to make the scene come to life. They could only hope that the work they had done here was good enough.
“Thank you! Thank you very much!” Looking to her Pokemon, she nodded her head, leading them to bow with her. This was it. They were done. All they could do now was wait for the results.

oh, these treats sure were nice! she loved, loved, loved a touch of fruitiness in her dessert, and @grimastor‘s entry had that on lock. cherrim fruits and chocolate and strawberries, oh, my--and there was something in particular about those strawberries that she enjoyed. and what was this? an evolution? could he perhaps be emulating her grand festival performance, in which she had evolved two eevee? grinning widely, she delivers her verdict.
LOOKS: 25 / 30
❝oh my gosh, these look so amazing! and you even copied my performance at the grand festival so i’m definitely giving you more points for that! but, points off for having it land on the sprinkles and make a mess like that. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but like, not if you flub it.❞
COMPLEXITY: 25 / 30
❝the taste of these is just incredible. there are so many layers to the flavor--i could eat these all day, except not really because then i’d get fat and nobody wants that. my only complaint is, you didn’t make your pokémon work that hard while you were making them. but they did a really good job for what they did!❞
ORIGINALITY: 27 / 30
❝i’ve never seen purrloin head cupcakes before, although i mean i have seen treats shaped like pokémon. but you did it in such a new and interesting way that it really caught my attention. can i have you bake my cupcakes like, forever? i’ll pay you a ton~❞
BONUSES:
❝you get +5 for using haze and +5 for using psychic. which means…❞

❝Grimsley, your total is 87 POINTS!❞

All Hallow’s Theme: A Midnight Mystery
Participant: Pascale Devan Pokémon: Mawile (Dior), Pyroar (Tyson), Aegislash (Ansel), Bisharp (Jeanne) Category: Stage Decorating Music: Caplet- Masque of the Red Death
A few minutes before she was scheduled to take the stage, and Pascale was hurrying to put the final touches on her Pokémon’s costumes. Using a stiff brush, she was busy lightly applying a chartreuse hue to the coat her Pyroar, Tyson. Touches of gel had already been spread randomly across the fur, giving him a wet, matted appearance, and his face-especially around his eyes and mouth-were reddened with dye. As she worked, she tried to coach him.
“Remember-make sure you’re kind of shuffling about. Maybe shake every so often. You’re supposed to be sick, so if I don’t have you doing anything I want you to be laying down.” The Pokémon grunted.
There was a tug on her cloak, drawing the former monarch’s attention away. At her side was Dior, her Mawile, excited to show off to her trainer. Scraps of fur-like fabric dangled from the ‘teeth’ of her horn, and black make-up gave her face a gaunt and sunken-in look. But most significantly, she wore the ribcage of a plastic human skeleton around her torso- a bit big, but that only made her look even thinner. Pascale couldn’t help but grin as she looked over her, reaching out a hand to stroke her head.
“Well aren’t you the cutest Famine I’ve ever seen? Yes you are! And here come the other horsemen!”
Behind Dior, her Bisharp (Jeanne) and Aegislash (Ansel), hurried over. Jeanne’s armor was grimy and dusty, with fake scars and holes marring the normally pristine surface. Some places even looked dented. All of her blades, especially the one on her head, were red with fake blood. She walked with a staggering limp, and a pole attached to her back held a tattered, bloody pennant above her head.
Meanwhile, a black veil draped down from Ansel’s pommel to cover his eyes and handle, while his blade appeared rusted by age. His shield had been completely painted over to depict a skull on a black background.
Pascale admired all of them with unfamiliar anxiety. The centuries had taught her how to fake confidence, how to look like she had everything under control…but of all things, it was a showcase that was making her uneasy. Why was she so nervous? She didn’t have much time to think on it, as she was given a one-minute warning that her music would start soon. A quick glance in the mirror revealed her own costume-a heavy velvet cloak, the color of blood, so long that it trailed behind her as she walked. The sleeves nearly touched the ground. But the most important part was the mask sitting on the counter.
It was a white half-mask with gold trim. Evenly spaced across the bottom, a number of large, square beads dangled, somewhat resembling teeth. Although only dotted with a few splatters of red paint, bright red rhinestone decorated the cheekbone one side, with lines of smaller rhinestones dropping below it. Hopefully, if it could catch the right light under her heavy hood, like might create the illusion of blood dripping down as she worked.
No more time to adjust anything, however; a cue sounded, and the first notes of her music began to play. Pascale and her four Pokémon made their way onto the stage.
Her plan was a rather…grandiose one, if she were to be honest with herself, made more demanding by the fact that she didn’t know the full extent of her materials. And now that she saw what she had, her opinion was…mixed. All of it was ideal, but it wasn’t quite enough. She was going to have to get creative.
A deep breath. Start with the table. She turned to her Pokémon.
“Dior, Jeanne…could you give me a hand moving everything to one table? We’re going to need the space.” As the two Pokémon began to move the supplies, Pascale cut out a few lengths of the white and black fabrics she’d been given and addressed her Aegislash. “Ansel, I’m going to have you do some…distressing. Put this silk through Hell-have Tyson help you out, too. We’ll need a lot of damage.” The sword stared down at the fabric, then nodded, carrying it over to an empty spot on the stage and calling over the last member of the team. There, the two Pokémon took turns shredding the silk, Tyson using claws and fangs to tear jagged gashes while Ansel used Shadow Claw and Slash to make long tatters and cut uneven ends.
While her Pokémon went about their work, Pascale flagged down her assigned servant. She thought about writing down a list for them, but that might not be acceptable. They’d have to work from memory.
“Okay, I need…chairs. Maybe three? And a couple of wine glasses, too-one less than the chairs. If you could get some silverware and plates, those would be great, but they aren’t the most important thing. Start with those.”
Jeanne and Dior had finished clearing one of the tables by the time she finished giving orders. With their help, she carried it to the center of the stage, then grabbed one of the pieces of fabric her other Pokémon had finished tearing up and threw it over the table. It was a touch small, and didn’t cover it perfectly, revealing the very modern-looking furniture underneath, but it would have to do. Besides, she needed to get her Pokémon working; they only had so much time.
“Okay Dior, we’ve got to be careful with this one, but this stage is too pristine. Think you can make some rubble? I need at least two big columns, like the ones we had-I mean, saw-at the old castle. And Jeanne, once she has those up, you need to give them a touch of…former glory. Nice, but not too nice.” Her Pokémon were on it immediately. Using Rock Tomb, her Mawile summoned two towering pillars of stone towards the back of the stage, which her Bisharp began to shape and shine with a careful combination of Knock Off and Rock Polish.
Things were shaping up nicely. Oh, and look, there was the servant!
“Excellent! Set them on the table in the center there-I’ll arrange them in a minute. Ansel?” From the other side of the stage, the ripping stopped. Ansel looked to her. “Take four of the longer pieces of the black fabric, and I need you to hang them from the lighting-there, there, there, and there.” As instructed, the Aegislash floated towards the top of the stage and up into the rigging for the lights. He draped two of the long cuts of fabric over the rigging on each side of the stage (one near the front and one near the back) so that they hung down like dilapidated banners, torn and tattered with time.
Tyson, meanwhile, laid down on the stage on his side, breathing heavily to pretend to be sick as his trainer had told him earlier. He even let his tongue loll out, unprompted.
Pascale took to setting the table while all of this was happening, with one chair at each end and one in the center, facing the audience. She moved the chair that was stage left so that it was pushed outwards and away from the table. The wine glasses were set in front of two of the seats, one upright and one fallen on its side. Things were coming together nicely. With Dior having nothing to do, Pascale set her to work as she began to drag the fake skeleton to one of the seats with a wine glass.
“While Jeanne is finishing up, take some of those Chesnaught vines and spread them around-wrap them around the pillars, put them under the table, scatter them across the floor, you know what I mean. And Jeanne, you’re going to do the same with those fake cobwebs when you’re done. Ansel, you hang a few up there, too.”
The skeleton was place so that it was hunched over the table, face against the fabric. Under the table, any outwards so that it looked like they had fallen from the middle chair, she bunched up several of the branches into something…vaguely human shaped. Taking one of the skull props, she brought it over to Tyson on the floor and held it near his mouth.
“Hey buddy, care to eat a man?” The Pyroar eyed the skull, then his trainer, confused. Shoot. How could she be clearer? Grimacing, and hoping the audience and judge wouldn’t notice, she mouthed her command to him: “Crunch.” The Pokémon complied, leaving deep fang marks in the stryofoam.  Not wanting to let anyone linger on it too long, she hurried to place it on the table as a centerpiece.
With time beginning to run short, Pascale glanced around to check their progress. It looked nice, but not opulent enough. This was a castle, and even in ruin, it needed to give some hint of its former glory. But what…? Inspiration came, and she called the servant over.
“I need you to go look in the mansion for two large paintings-I’m sure I’ve seen a few around. Portraits, ideally, and the more of a dark, gothic vibe the better.”
“Madame, I don’t think you should-“ But Pascale cut him off.
“Please! Ursula said ‘anything’ in the mansion, right? And I’m not going to damage them, I promise! Hurry” The servant gave her a concerned look, then scurried off to fulfill her request.
There wasn’t much time left. Pascale grabbed two more pieces of the tattered black fabric and draped them over the skeleton and the ‘body’ under the table. Bodies were placed, banners were up, columns looked like they’d seen better days…and there was the servant, looking rushed and slightly disheveled and carrying a painting under each arm. She took them from him quickly, and with Dior’s help hung one (crooked) on one column. The other was rested on its side on the floor, at the foot of the second column.
“Okay, last step! Let’s set some atmosphere! Dior, what’s the midnight mystery without a little low-layin fog?” The Mawile nodded, and summoned an eerie (if slightly glittery) mist with her Misty Terrain attack. It hung close to the ground, wisping out at the edge of the stage. Then she called over her Pyroar.
“Tyson, we need a little mood lighting for this dinner, if you’d be so kind.” This order wasn’t nearly as enigmatic. Tyson’s mane glowed, and as he roared, a number of Will-O-Wisps appeared and scattered about the stage. The stage lights were set low, allowing the fire to be the primary illumination.
Just in time; the buzzer sounded not a second later. Pascale breathed a sigh of relief, and took a seat in the final chair-a prop in her own scene.
There was a bright flash and a peel of thunder as, for the presentation, Dior momentarily illuminated the stage with a surge from a Thunder Fang in a pre-planned reveal. In its absence, it served to make the stage look that much darker (and the flames that much brights), but the afterimages were hopefully still embedded in her viewer’s minds:
Two stone columns near the back of the stage served to imply the walls of a castle or manor, worn and misshapen with time and wrapped in vines. Branches were scattered about the floor. Portraits of the ‘former owners’ were in disarray, while tattered black banners hung beside cobwebs from a high ceiling. In the center of it all was a table, covered in a torn white tablecloth and with a broken skull as its centerpiece. Three human figures, draped in cloth, sat there-or, rather, had been sitting there.
One was hunched over the table, clutching a wine glass in a skeletal hand. To their right-in the center-the chair was empty, with a toppled wine glass on the table before it. The chair’s former resident lay a crumbled heap under the table. And in the third seat (furthest stage right), the figure sat tall, hands folded on the table before them but seemingly unfazed by the scene at the rest of the table.
Another burst of light from a Thunder Fang, and in the near-darkness that followed, the the figure slowly rose to their feet, turned, and walked offstage.

All Hallows Stage Decorating Theme Appeal
Preset.
Trainer: Shamus Baruda
Pokemon: Emboar, Heatmor, Incineroar, Simisear
Theme: Stage Decorating
Shamus had all the supplies he needed to decorate the stage for the All Hallows’ Faire. A wall of hay that was stacked, about five on top of each other, on the far backdrop of the stage. In front of that a line stretched out from one end to the other left to right. Hanging down from the line were 3 long white sheets, shaped out like ghosts. The ghosts eye holes were big enough to see the hay behind them.
There was a shorter stack of hay, only two stacks, laid out in front of the ghosts, shaped like a U. Laying out in front of inside-left stack of the hay laid a dummy. The dummy was dressed like Wallace. Laying out in front of inside-center stack of hay laid another dummy. This dummy was dressed like Ash Ketchum. Finally, lying out in front of the inside-right stack of the hay, laid one more dummy. This one was dressed like the Unova Pokémon rights activist, N.
And finally, to the center-right of the stage was a big sized pumpkin, grown from the Derosier’s themselves.
(Warning: Ketchup is used as blood and pumpkin filling is referenced as guts, but they’re not explicit).
The appeal.
Shamus was ready to go out next. He was going to give the best decorative stage All Hallows had ever seen. This was of course the first time the All Hallows event has been held, but he’ll make sure his stage decoration gets ingrained to every future All Hallows Eve to come.
His Pokémon: Emboar, Heatmor, Simisear, and Incineroar were already called out and they all walked on to the stage together. They all had a mutual theme in their costumes. The Pokémon all wore black hooded cloaks. Shamus wore the same but also had a scythe that was actually just a hockey stick spray painted black with a silver tip.
“Time for us to steal another show,” Shamus nodded to his Pokémon and they all entered the stage. He had his head angled to where the hood covered his eyes.
“What you are about to see is, hold on,” he lifted the hood of his cloak to see the crowd. “What you will see is the ultimate Fire Warriors Halloween decoration.” Shamus addressed the audience, and to Ursula. “Get ready for the best stage decoration you will ever see.”
He placed his hood back on.
“Heat it up, Heatmor!” Shamus looked over to his fire anteater Pokémon and used his “scythe” to point to the backdrop of the stage.
Heatmor twirled his long snout and unleashed a flamethrower at the backdrop of hay. The hay caught fire and spread throughout the whole backside of the stage, like a fiery wall.
Next, Shamus walked over to the N dummy on the right side of the stage.
“Incineroar,” Shamus called his strong fire-tiger Pokémon. “Let’s add some marks to this dummy here.”
“Incineroar!” Incineroar roared, showing off his large claws, using them for fury swipes on the dummy’s face. Packets of ketchup were taped on the face, so the scratches made ketchup squirt out and stained the dummy’s face.
Next he walked over to the Ash Ketchum dummy.
“Emboar.” Shamus called his number 1 Fire Warrior. “Smash in this one’s face.”
“Emboar!” Emboar shouted as his arms glow a bright white as he delivered a hammer arm on the Ash dummy. Like the N dummy before it, packets of ketchup splattered, leaving red stains across the dummy’s face.
Last, and certainly not least: the Wallace dummy.
“Simisear.” Shamus called for his fire monkey to walk over. “Bury this one.”
“Simi-SEAR!” Simisear yelled as he put his hands out in front of him. Silver sparkles formed between his hands as he raised his hands up in the air, allowing the sparkles to expand into a boulder, his Rock Tomb attack. Simisear then throws the boulder onto the Wallace dummy, crushing it. The boulder rested on the dummy so that only its legs were sticking out.
“We aren’t done yet!” Shamus announced as he turned everyone’s attention to the giant pumpkin on stage. “I’d like to thank Ursula for allowing me to bring a pumpkin for my stage decoration. What’s a Halloween theme decoration without a jack-o-lantern?”
“Now instead of using Incineroar’s lovely fury swipes for destruction like on that loser trainer’s dummy over there, time for a work of art. And to make this go along quicker, Heatmor will also join in.”
Heatmor and Incineroar both combined their fury swipes at the top of the Pumpkin to get an opening so that they could take out the filling inside. Using his long arms, Emboar dug the filling out of it and dumped it on the N and Ash dummies’ bodies to emulate guts.
“Let’s get rid of the rest sticking on the side, Simisear!” Shamus said to Simisear.
Simisear put his hands over his head to unleash a bright light orb to hover over the pumpkin. Sunny Day was used to dry out the remaining filling. After the light went away, it was time to finish off.
“Okay, now cut this pumpkin out in the face of the best host around!” Shamus took a look back at Ursula, hoping to score some suck up points. Hey, she liked his Wallace Cup appeal, she earned his praise.
Incineroar and Heatmor both once again used their fury swipes to carve the pumpkin’s face to match the face of Ursula.
“Now with the power of the Fire Warriors, let’s finish this off! All together!” Shamus shouted to his fire Pokémon.
Emboar blew out a breath of flamethrower into the left twirl hair hole of the Ursula jack-o-lantern. Simisear blew a breath of flamethrower to left eye hole of the jack-o-lantern. Heatmor twirled his snout and unleashed another flamethrower into the right twirl hair hole of the jack-o-lantern. Finally, Incineroar heated up his flame belt and sent a flamethrower blast into the right eye-hole of the jack-o-lantern.
“Now, if you will, to fully, appreciate this stage decoration. Kill the lights!” Shamus shouted for the lights to the room to be turned off.
With the lights turned off, the stage was illuminated with flames. The backdrop was shadowed with the three ghosts lined up against the wall. The faces of the Ash and N dummies were barely visible, but enough to make out that they looked like dead bodies, as well as the flames leaving enough light to see the Wallace dummy’s leg sticking out from a boulder. And, of course, taking the center of the stage was the magnificently carved and lit up Ursula jack-o-lantern.
“And THIS is the best stage decoration you will ever see! Thank you!”
With his hood still up, Shamus enthusiastically swings his hockey stick back, and it gets stuck in the Ursula jack-o-lantern, right above Ursula’s lips.
“Uhh.” Shamus looks behind him, awkwardly while his Pokémon gave bows to the crowd, unaware of their trainer’s predicament. With a tug, he tried to pull it out with no luck. He pulled a bit harder, but it still wouldn’t budge. He took his hood off to try and get a better look at it. He tried pulling it again but it still wouldn’t come out.
“Come on,” he grunted in frustration, not knowing if anyone could hear him or not. He put both hands on the stick and tried pulling toward him.
Consequentially, it scrapped across Ursuala’s face, leaving her with what appeared to look like a mustache.
Tumblr media
Shamus gasped at his mistake. Not being able to bear to face the crowd, only shooting a quick glance at Ursula, but didn’t note how she was taking this and then quickly returned his Pokémon.
“I didn’t mean to do that. That was accident. You didn’t see that. That will be all. Bye.” Shamus spoke rapidly.
Ashamed, he put his hood back over his face and ran backstage, promptly ending his theme portion appeal.
Will he get into the freestyle rounds?

All Hallow’s Faire --> Theme --> Grimsley
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
STAGE MUSIC: Pre determined
INGREDIENTS TO BE USED: Fresh pre-baked batter, sprinkles, colorful chocolate drops, frosting, bananas, Cherrim fruits, secret addition
[ |  ♠  | ]
Now, normally, the four dark type Pokémon would be on their edge, especially because of their trainer, who wasn’t exactly the epitome of self confidence, but when they were about to get called on the stage with other participants, Grimsley didn’t seem...nervous at all? Sure, he was nervous, but not in panic, much like the previous contests he participated. There was no reason to panic, honestly!
He and his Pokémon practiced the moves and what they would do for days, until exhaustion, they practiced until everything was perfect, so unless something VERY unexpected happened, they would be fine, and above everything, they would have fun!
“You guys remember the steps, yes? "Tim tim por tim tim”? I am counting with you, let’s all do our best!!”
All four Pokémon cried out in understandment, they were all ready to give their all in order to make their coordinator proud, maybe, except Boris, the young Larvitar, who didn’t seem too.....enthusiastic, but otherwise, he was cheerful, and he would help his trainer, no matter what happened.
There was a sign, and the announcer called his name. The Elite adjusted his clothes, and began walking towards the stage, with his Pokémon following right behind him. As it was announced earlier, on his arms, he carried a jar with pre-baked batter, so he wouldn’t take too long to finish his product, and consequently, bore the audience and the judges, and he wanted to make sure they would get to try his pride and joy, something he’s working on for almost a month now.
The spotlight turned to the dark trainer and his Pokémon: He was wearing a purple outfit that highly resembled a Liepard, a Honchkrow, a Bisharp and a Larvitar, while his Pokémon, a Liepard, a Bisharp, a Honchkrow and a baby Larvitar were all dressed like their trainer. That idea looked better in his head, but he wasn’t there for an outfit judgement, he was there to bake!
“......Hello to you all, I-I am Grimsley, and today I shall......bake something special!”
His Pokémon cried out and bowed along with Grimsley, and now that the five presented themselves before the audience, They made their way towards the table, where they would prepare something to delight the judges, and without losing time, they began their presentation.
Penelope, would you help create a nice mood? Use HAZE!
The Honchkrow flapped her wings behind the elite, and a thick, chilly fog appeared on the stage, swallowing the whole floor so it wouldn’t cover the participants and hide their movements, and so, things started for real.
Grimsley took a few paper purple cups and set them in one side, and then he took the pre-baked batter and poured it on a baking tray especially made for cupcakes, and put it in the oven. Since the batter was pre baked, it would take exactly 5 minutes to finish it, so that was the time he had to prepare the frosting and chop the toppings, so you can imagine he didn’t lose time.
After he picked the ingredients that were set for use and placed them on the table, Beatrice the Liepard and Charlotte the Bisharp approached the table, and waited for orders........
“Charlotte and Beatrice, chop those for me with Aerial Ace and Night Slash, please! Penelope, get ready!”
Both Pokémon nodded, and Beatrice tossed the Cherrim’s little fruits into the air, chopping them to bits with AERIAL ACE, while Charlotte extended her blades and sent the bananas flying, slicing them with NIGHT SLASH, and oh! it seems the fruits will fall in a hilarious way?!
“NOW, PENELOPE! PSYCHIC!”
The Honchkrow swiftly swooped and used PSYCHIC to stop the chopped ingredients in the air with telekinetic energy, and there she stayed, gently flapping her wings, keeping the fruits mid air with her mind until second order.
Meanwhile, Grimsley was preparing the frostings that were purple, pink and cream, mixing them well with a big silicon spoon and pouring them on decorating tubes to be used soon. All of them were working hard, except for the Larvitar, who didn’t seem to be feeling....well? The little Pokémon had to get ready for the finale, but he was very slow, and seemed sleepy, but he would do his part, no matter what.
And finally, a small “ping” of the portable oven let everyone know that the batter was done, and it was time to finish.
Grimsley took the tiny cakes from the oven, and Penelope flapped her wings to cool them a bit before he set them on the table, and gathered the chopped Cherrim fruits, bananas, the 3 frosting of different colors, sprinkles, chocolate drops and something special that he brought.
The Elite carefully placed the six little cakes on the paper cups, and used the purple frosting to make a Purrloin head, then the pink frosting to draw the markings on its eyes, a cream-colored frosting to make the muzzle, and finally, added green chocolate drops to be the eyes. Penelope, that was holding the toppings with her psychic power, carefully moved them towards the table, and set them on small bowls. The chopped bananas were added around the Purrloin’s “neck”, resembling a collar, and the chopped Cherrim fruits were added on the head, acting like a crown, and here comes the jewel: Six whole fleshy strawberries, courtesy of his own garden, were added on the top of the frosting Purrloin’s head!
Now to finish the presentation, Grimsley took the Larvitar, and threw him to the air, along with a few sprinkles. The Larvitar didn’t do anything for a second, but then he used a fast and coordinated THRASH to make the sprinkles rain on the cupcakes, without hitting the audience and the judges, and thankfully, Grimsley quickly removed the finished cupcakes from the table and put them aside, because while he was in the air, Boris’ body began to glow, making the mist set by Penelope disappear, and right before everyone’s eyes, the Larvitar evolved into Pupitar!!..............
Tumblr media
......That fell right on the leftover pink frosting, making quite a mess on his trainer and Pokémon.
Grimsley removed the Liepard mask to take a good look on what just happened, and once the embarassment set in, he slowly retrieved the dirty Pupitar, and began walking away slowly. His also dirty Pokémon followed him.
“............................Please, do try the...............cupcakes......thank you, thank you!!!!!!”

The Process
While the nurse had been in many stressful situations, the sound of the crowd was slightly nerve-wracking.  Rose shook her head, attempting to rid herself of these nervous thoughts.  After all, her Pokemon didn’t need her nervousness stressing them out.  With a smile, Rose gestured for her Pokemon, as well as her temporary Leavanny and Ditto, to follow her on to the stage, “Let’s go, guys!”  In her other hand, was a small clipboard holding the papers where she had sketched out her ideal costume plans.  It wasn’t completely obvious what was drawn, since Rose wasn’t an artist and had only made quick sketches for her and her team to reference on stage.  For her, there was a stick figure dressed as a werewolf, or at least what was supposed to be a werewolf.  For Althea, there was a roundish Frankenstein style monster drawn, at least if it were to be squinted at for a moment.  For Anahit, there was a ribbony stick figure that was meant to represent a ghost.  For Cosmas, there appeared to be a circle, almost like a donut, with little fangs and a cape, meant to be a vampire.  For Sirona, there was an eggish shape that appeared to be wrapped in bandages to be a mummy.  On the bright side, this showcase wasn’t looking at Rose’s sketching talents but rather how their costumes would turn out.
The only downside to Joy’s preparations would be if any materials that they wanted weren’t available, which thankfully was beginning to seem unlikely after seeing how all out that Ursula had went in planning this event.  Still, the nurse had been taught to be prepared for anything, so the group was prepared for any unexpected bumps that may arise in their plans.
The nurse and her helpers all walked to their area of the stage to begin their work.  After all, they had little time to waste since they needed to complete five separate costumes.  Thankfully, commands weren’t forbidden in this part, so Rose wouldn’t need to come up with fancy ways to make requests from her team, since subtlely wasn’t exactly a strong suit of theirs.  Amongst the audience, she could hear several comments and gasps that a Nurse Joy was participating rather than judging.  Still, it was better than any negativity.
Joyfully, the group of medical experts made their way to a table filled with materials that were available to the participants.  There was so much potential to be seen with all of the choices, but they had a plan to stick to.  The fabric seemed to be of the best quality possible, which was to be expected from their hostess.  For Cosmas’ vampire outfit, Rose grabbed a silky black fabric.  After a bit of consideration, she decided that the black fabric would also be perfect to make some pants for Althea’s costume.  Rather than using paper for Sirona’s mummy costume, Rose decided that some nice silky white fabric could work nicely.  After all, this was a high class event and toilet paper simply wouldn’t cut the competition.  The white fabric could also be useful for Anahit’s ghost costume and to make a fancy plain shirt for Althea’s costume.  The pink haired woman gave one last quick glance to the table filled with fabrics before grabbing a dark brown fabric that would add to her costume.  After all, it would be a disaster if she were to forget about her own costume design.  With that, Althea and Anahit took the roll of black fabric from Rose, while Sirona and Cosmas took the roll of white fabric.  Rose kept the brown roll of fabric and the group took the rolls back to their area.
With a nod, she left her Pokemon to lay out the fabric while she went to quickly get a plain black dress to be the basis of her werewolf costume.  She made her way back to their area and slipped the dress onto her mannequin.  After all, the mannequin was only accurate for her figure.  Her Pokemon’s costumes would need the help of the Ditto that was hanging around her mannequin.  Still, they needed to finish getting all of the supplies that they needed before having Ditto begin it’s transformations.  Best not to get too ahead of themselves after all.  Now that the fabric was neatly laid out next to the measuring tape, practically ready for Leavanny to get to work on, the group of Pokemon followed Rose to the supply table to help carry back more supplies.  Sirona took an armful of wire to create some accessories with back to the mannequin.  Cosmas took one look at the table before approaching a servant’s Abra and apparently requesting something.  Within a minute, the Abra and it’s trainer had transported somewhere in the mansion, apparently on a hunt for Cosmas request.  Rose, choosing not to question her Comfey, grabbed some sparkly light green, glittery white, and black paint off the table.  The busy group placed their newest supplies down and looked around at everything that they had chosen.  Nurse Joy gestured to Althea and the Leavanny who was holding the measuring tape, “We need to get your measurements, alright?”  The chansey gave a small nod and stood still for the Leavanny who quickly got to work, while Sirona wrote down the measurements as the Leavanny told them to her.  Once Althea’s measurements were done, the Leavanny moved on to Joy’s measurements.  It was quite impressive at how quick the Leavanny was at taking measurements, but she was considered an expert seamstress for a reason.  As quickly as it began, the Leavanny had finished it’s notes and moved onto Anahit’s measurements.  Before long, Cosmas measurements were done as well.  The paper and pencil was passed from Sirona to Althea and Leavanny took the Wigglytuff’s measurements.
Nurse Joy smiled, “Time to get to work!  Ditto, transform into Chansey please!”  Thankfully, the hired Ditto had little reason to argue and immediately transformed into Althea based on Leavanny’s measurements.  Now the group had two costumes that they could begin working on designing.  “Alright, Leavanny, do you think you could use make a shirt from the white fabric fit for a Chansey?”  At the question, the Leavanny nodded and slashed the fabric at the proper length and began making it the proper fit for their Ditto model.  Not wanting to get in the way of the professional Leavanny, Nurse Joy turned to the mannequin with her black dress on it.  It was rather pretty, so turning it into something fit to be scary was going to be a bit challenging.  Still, it was too late now to change her mind.  She looked at the brown fabric, which wouldn’t need to be too accurately measured for this task.  This was something that could be done without the existence of the busy Leavanny.  “Anahit, do you think you could lend a Helping Hand and help me create some tuffs that could look a bit like fur to put onto the sleeves of the dress?”  Of course, the Leavanny would need to stick them on, but they couldn’t make the poor helper do all the work.  At Rose’s request, Anahit quickly lent a Helping Hand and began helping the nurse form small pieces of the dark brown fabric into tufts.  While those two were busy working on their task, the Abra teleported back to the stage with the servant.  Cosmas quickly made it to them and received some fake fangs that she placed into her mouth.  After all, what kind of vampire would she have been without fangs.  The Chansey and Wigglytuff grabbed the attention of the Abra that had just returned to make another request to it, which it quickly took it’s trainer to receive.
Now that the Leavanny looked pleased with the fitting of the white shirt on the Ditto model, it officially turned the fabric into a shirt.  Now that one part of Althea’s costume was done, Rose lit up, clearly pleased with the result so far.  “That’s wonderful, Leavanny!  Are you ready to make the jacket and pants?”  Leaving Anahit to finish up on the tufts, Rose carried the black roll of fabric over to the Leavanny, who was looking at the paper with the measurements.  Rose gave a small nod to the Pokemon, “I’ll let you work your magic, alright?”  With that the Leavanny quickly got to work slashing the fabric to be the right length.  “I think that’s enough of the tufts, Anahit.  They look very nice~  Don’t you think?”  The pink Pokemon gave a cheerful nod of agreement.  She looked around for a moment, attempting to decide what to start on next.  Her thoughts were interrupted by the return of the servant and Abra who had paintbrushes in hands.  “Oh, perfect!  Thank you!  I can start getting our faces painted, can’t I?”  Rose joyfully took the paintbrushes and knelt down on the ground to be at her Pokemons’ heights.  “Well, Althea, we’ll start with you.  Does that sound good?  The rest of you can start making some accessories with the wires if you’d like.  Sirona, keep an eye on Leavanny and let me know when it’s ready for something else to work on, alright?”  Sirona gave a small nod and lead the other two Pokemon away so they could work on their tasks.  Now that the tasks have been assigned, the nurse turned her attention back to her Chansey.  “We’ll gonna make you nice and spooky, but it might tickle a bit.  Just try not to fidget too much.”  Thankfully, Althea was pretty good at not fidgeting, so Rose wasn’t too worried about it.  Still, the warning was done more out of habit, since she often gave small warnings, such as a shot stinging a bit.  The pink-haired woman put some glittery light green paint on her brush and began thinly applying it to the pink Pokemon’s face.  She appeared to be focused on her work and trying to be as gentle with it as possible.  Away from her, her Pokemon were just as intently focused on their tasks.  Anahit appeared to be making small bracelets for each of them, since a little feminine touch wouldn’t hurt their costumes.  After all, who ever said monsters couldn’t look nice?  Cosmas was working with Sirona to make a headband with floppy dog ears for Rose’s werewolf costume.  After taking a small glance up, Sirona noticed that Leavanny was finishing up on Althea’s costume.  The Wigglytuff quickly made her way to Rose, who was doing the finishing touches to Althea’s face paint.  “All done!”  Her attention was soon drawn to Sirona, who tapped her shoulder to alert her that Leavanny was almost ready for a new task.  The woman thanked her and made her way over to the two loaned Pokemon, while Althea and Sirona trailed behind her.  The costume appeared just as the woman had envisioned, which was a great relief.  “It’s wonderful!  You’ll look perfect for Halloween, Althea!  Once we get it off of Ditto, Sirona can help you put it on, alright?”  With that, the transformed Ditto began gently removing the three piece costume, so that it wouldn’t accidentally get damaged.  “Leavanny, while Ditto’s changing, would you attach those pieces of fabric over there on the sleeves of that dress.  We’re hoping that you can get them to look like tufts of fur~”  The Leavanny’s eyes followed where the nurse pointed and it made it’s way over to start completing the small task.
Once the costume was safely off, the Ditto model changed back to it’s normal form, waiting for the next command.  “Alright, Ditto, can you transform into Comfey next?”  She pointed over to Cosmas, who at this point had approached Leavanny so that it could attach the ears to the headband for her, to give Ditto a visual on top of the measurements that were provided by Leavanny’s notes.  The Ditto listened carefully and successfully transformed into a mirror image of Cosmas.  Leavanny popped up next to the transformed Ditto, awaiting it’s next task.  “You’re amazing, Leavanny!  Do you think you could make a flowing, cape with the black fabric? And for the knot in the front, perhaps something like a little bow, so it’s almost like a bow tie?”  The excitement was clear from the nurse’s voice, but there was a part of her that was hoping it wouldn’t be too much for the Leavanny.  Still, if it were possible than they could always paint the knot red, which could add even more to the originally very simple plan for Cosmas’ vampire costume.  The skilled Leavanny appeared to complemate whether or not the request was in it’s skillset before giving a small nod and getting to work.  It quickly slashed some of the black fabric to fit into a spooky, flowing vampire cape.
Now that the loaned Pokemon were busy, it was time for her to paint Cosmas face a glistening, pale white.  “Cosmas, come over here.  It’s your turn to get spookified~”  The nurse appeared rather jolly as she spoke and the flowery Pokemon made her way over to her knelt down trainer.  Before settling in to get her face painted though, the floating Pokemon placed the handmade headband on Rose’s head and adjusted it properly, giving the nurse some floppy dog ears.  Rose laughed, “Aww, it’s perfect!  Y’know what?  Once I finish painting your face, you can paint mine!”  After all, it wasn’t like she could paint her own face without a mirror and her Pokemon were all quite skilled with their hands.  The flowery Pokemon seemed happy with the offer and stayed still to have her face painted.  It didn’t long for Comfey’s face to successfully be painted, causing her to look like a flowery, undead vampire, complete with her fake fangs.  “When your cape’s done you’re going to be the splitting image of what a vampire Comfey would look like!”  The nurse practically squealed with joy at how well it was working out.  At this point, Althea was now successfully dressed in her costume and came out to help Anahit finish up on her bracelets.  Prior to being permitted to help though, she was made to slip her bracelet on, which thankfully fit.  At this point, Anahit was working on her last bracelet, but the offer of help appeared to please her.  The Leavanny was now finishing up it fancy bow tie style knot on the caped Ditto model.
“Let me go check out your cape then you can start painting my face, alright Cosmas?”  With that the nurse made her way to the modeling Ditto and Leavanny.  “It looks wonderful, doesn’t it, Cosmas?”  The Pokemon squeaked in agreement.  “Sirona, come here please~”  When the Wigglytuff arrived, the nurse smiled, “Would you like to paint this bow knot a bright red for me?  We have extra paintbrushes that you can use.”  The pink Pokemon nodded and trailed after Rose to get a paintbrush, while the Leavanny and Cosmas helped the Ditto slip the cape off.  Once it was off, Cosmas took it to carry to a spot where Sirona could paint, while Sirona was getting a bright red paint off of the supply table.
Rose smiled to the loaned Pokemon, “Alright!  Ditto, please transform into a Wigglytuff!  Leavanny, do you think you could make a costume out of a bunch of long shreds of the white fabric.  Y’know, like a mummy, but have all the shreds connected so it can be slipped on like a one piece or two piece outfit or something.”  The Ditto quickly obeyed and successfully transformed into a perfect match of Sirona.  The Leavanny used Razor Leaf to make many long shreds out of the white fabric at once.  Now the Pokemon appeared to be laying them on the transformed Ditto to figure out the best way in which they should be connected.  Whenever two strands pieced together in a way that pleased the Pokemon, they were bonded together with it’s String Shot, which helped to give it more of a mummy-ish appearance.
At this point, Anahit’s bracelets were completed and she was determined to pass them out to the remainder who needed theirs.  She slipped hers on before making her way to Sirona, who she luckily caught before she began painting.  After giving her hers, she made her way to Cosmas and Rose, who both gleefully accepted the cute gift.  “Thank you, Anahit.  Would you like to see if Sirona needs any help with her task?  Maybe you can help hold down the cloak, so we don’t have to worry about any wind moving it.”  With that, the baby of the team left to go help Sirona, while Cosmas began applying some black paint to Rose’s nose and cheeks.  The spots on her cheeks were only lines to be whispers, but it was a task that the Pokemon was taking great pride in delicately completing.  Rose’s face was painted quicker than the bow tie, so she took the opportunity to slip into her werewolf dress.  “Thank you, Cosmas.  Once Sirona is done with your cloak, have her and the others help you put it on.”  She made her way to change away from the complete vision of the audience.  By the time she had slipped into her costume, Cosmas was also dressed in her full costume.  At this time, the Leavanny was completing the finishing touches to Sirona’s mummy costume.  Rose made her way to the supplied Pokemon, ready to give the orders for their final costume.  This last one was likely going to be the least work for the Leavanny, but it was just as important as the others.
“That’s amazing, Leavanny!  Do you see it, Sirona?  Cosmas and Althea will help you put it on once Ditto gets it off.”  The transformed Ditto was now getting out of the costume, which was then handed to Sirona.  “Alright!  Anahit, are you ready?”  The nurse smiled as the Audino nodded, “Mega evolve!”  With that the pink Pokemon completed her Mega Evolution.  Thanks to the change, Audino’s color was now pretty fitting for a ghostly figure.  Still, she needed a costume.  “Leavanny, could you make a spooky white dress for her?  Like one that looks like it’s been torn at the ends.  Something that looks ghastly.”  The Leavanny gave a nod and slashed the white fabric to get formed into a dress.  “Ditto, transform into Mega Audino!”  With that the Ditto successfully transformed into a splitting image of Anahit.  “Perfect!”  The Leavanny wrapped the white fabric around the model and began shaping it into the shape of a dress.  Once the shape was well-fitting, Leavanny began to seam the ends together.  Her other three Pokemon returned, all dressed in their monster costumes.  “Well, there’s not much we can do to help here, but we can start cleaning up the supplies that we’re done with~”  With that, the nurse’s group began putting away their leftover materials, so that no servants would have to between showcases.  Once the fabric was now a dress, the Leavanny began using False Swipe to create the distressed look on the bottom of the dress that Rose had requested.  It didn’t take long for the dress to be finished and for all of the leftover supplies to be cleaned up.  “Perfect!  Anahit, we’ll all help you get that on and then we’ll be ready.  Thanks for everything Leavanny and Ditto.  You two are free to go.”  After all, they had done more than enough for this effort and weren’t part of this upcoming step.  While Anahit was getting changed, Rose stopped a servant to make sure that they could dim the lights once they returned to show off their designs.
Modeling the Designs
It didn’t take long for the group of monsters to return to the now dimly lit stage.  The music that had been playing while they had been busy at work had now changed to a different song.  The vibe of the stage was now far different than it had been previously.
Rose stepped up first, wearing her black dress with what looked to be brown furry arms, her headband with floppy brown dog ears, and a bracelet with a small full moon shaped charm dangling from it.  To add to the spooky effect, Althea growled from behind her and stepped up to show off her costume.  She held her arms out in front of her and tried to walk like a monster.  Her white shirt had a clear contrast to her black jacket and black pants.  Her bracelet had a small potion charm dangling from it, almost as though her appearance was a result of a science experiment going wrong.  She continued to make small, low growls to add to the monstrous effect.  The ghostly mega-evolved Audino walked gracefully, her distressed dress flowing in a way that almost made it seem as though she was floating.  The small bracelet on her hand featured a tiny cute ghost charm dangling from.  To give an even more haunting appeal, Anahit used Hyper Voice.  Sirona joined the others in a similar manner as Althea had.  Her arms were in front of her, with a loose strand of fabric hanging from each, looking like loose mummy wrappings, and her bracelet featured a small pyramid charm hanging from it.  Cosmas was the last to have to show off her costume.  Her silky black cape trailed behind her and she made sure to show off her fake fangs.  The red painted knot/bow stuck out from her pale face and dark cape.  On her wrist was a small bracelet with a bat charm.  To show off her vampiric nature, Cosmas gave a Draining Kiss to Sirona, who was of course going to be given a potion immediately after this performance was done.
“Thank you everyone!  I hope everyone had fun.”  To officially end off their showcase, Rose smiled and began to perform the pose for a Z-Move.  “Cosmas, use Shattered Psyche to finish the night off for us!”

Entering the stage, it occurs to Hiroko that perhaps she should have considered that she would have to be baking in this costume while putting it together. It’s not an impossible task, granted, but it is a bit... inconvenient. The first thing she has to do upon arriving to her station is slide up the kitsune mask to her forehead in order to see a bit better, then roll up her long, draping sleeves and tie them back. Here was hoping she wouldn’t have to lose any points on that front.
Tumblr media
Once better prepared (and slightly less liable to stain the soft whites and pinks of her kimono), she sets Junko to taking inventory of the ingredients available to her--what she needs is dropped neatly on the preparation table using psychic--while Hiroko goes to ask the servant to find her a short list of other items. Though she lacks the flair and fanfare a few other competitors have already displayed, she and her team have an efficiency to their lack of communication that--to anyone paying attention, at least--was rather impressive in and of itself. That was the benefit of links, in a way--Hiroko didn’t even need to spare a glance towards her pokémon to know what she did and didn’t need thanks to the silent stream of communication between them.
Besides, there would be plenty of time for flashy later.
With all her ingredients gathered thanks to the servant’s help - she thanks them with a little bow as they return - Hiroko quickly sets about preparing her recipe. Her partners had set out an array of bowls and utensils for her use. (She has to stifle a laugh at Junko’s addition of a comically large saucepan lid, but no saucepan. Evolved or not, she was still awfully young and, evidently, hadn’t completely understood some of Hiroko’s requests. Ryou scoops up the lid by its handle in his mouth and trots off to the chime of the bells on his legs as he returns it to its rightful place for Hiroko.) From the prep area she scoops up one of three apples and goes about peeling the skin off with a knife.
The flair in Hiroko’s performance is more subtle, something easy to catch for those paying attention to her but not loud and eye-catching; the choice to pull the knife from her hip, a gorgeous blade with a polished white-and-gold handle and engraved with the Azai name, or the flourish she uses to unsheathe it, spinning the knife around in her palm before setting to work. Her knifework is, as one would expect, almost inhuman, peeling and dicing the fruit with such speed and precision it’s a wonder she doesn’t cut herself.
In the meantime, Junko goes about measuring out other ingredients, still using her Psychic to quickly and cleanly float measuring cups and bowls around; sweet rice flour and sugar are mixed together with Psychic; a kettle floats over and pours a bit of boiling water in, mixing it together bit by bit as per Hiroko’s mental instruction until they had a solid mochi dough. Hiroko practically knew how to make mochi by heart thanks to her years of begging the cook back home, Nana, to make her favorite treat, which meant Junko could easily rely upon her partner’s memory to clear up any uncertainties. The espeon finishes her measurements just as Hiroko is peeling the last apple--
Why not show off a bit?
Ryou rejoins them at the counter and sits positioned next to the bowl of diced apples Hiroko has been preparing, already sensing what she had planned. As Hiroko finishes with the peel, she steps back and tosses the apple into the air; the Glaceon, at the same time, uses his Ice Shard. Razor-sharp blades of ice slice through the fruit in midair and it falls back down into the bowl in chunks, met with the sound of applause from a few entertained onlookers.
Next Hiroko measures out the remaining ingredients for the apple filling--cinnamon, sugar, lemon juice. She doesn’t exactly know the apple pie filling by heart the way she does mochi (in fact, she’d had to do a bit of research before the competition to try to find something a bit more seasonally themed), so she handles this portion of the preparation herself. The filling is then mixed together and popped in the microwave to heat (again, admittedly, she’d had to learn what a microwave even was before the competition). Once complete she brings the bowl back to Ryou’s side; he quickly chills the hot filling with Frost Breath until it’s down to a workable temperature. Next, Hiroko and Junko take the cooled filling and portion it out onto a sheet of wax paper--Junko, of course, being much more efficient at it using Psychic, a fact with Hiroko plays up for a few laughs as she can only scoop out one ball of filling while Junko single-handedly divides up the remainder in the bowl in the same amount of time. Ryou then settles down next to the sheet of portioned filling to keep it chilled as Hiroko and Junko move on to the next step.
Hiroko has Ryou use his Frost Breath once again to quickly chill the bowl of mochi, then she divides up the dough into separate chunks, two large and three much smaller chunks. She adds a bit of food color and kneads it into each chunk of dough--black and purple for the two largest, yellow and red for two of the smaller, and the last remaining its natural white--and proceeds to roll out the two larger piles of dough and cut palm-sized squares out of them, three black and six purple. Again with Junko’s assistance to speed up the process, Hiroko retrieves the filling and scoops it into a piece of dough, pinches it shut to keep the filling in, and has Junko shape them better into balls one-by-one.
Perfect! Now just to decorate them! The black-dough mochi are first. Hiroko squishes them into more oblong ovals, then pinches the tops and bottoms into little wisps. She then traces a shape on a piece of paper for Junko, who proceeds to cut the shape out from the rolled-out white dough to make up for Hiroko’s less-than-stellar artistic skill. Three little skull-like masks of a duskull, which Hiroko attaches to the re-shaped black mochi. She then pinches a bit of dough from the red and white to create the stripes on its back and single glowing eye for each one.
Next, she repeats the process for purple, having Junko cut out x-shaped pieces from the yellow and little cloud shapes from the white to create Drifloon, then rolling out thin strings of the remaining black dough and attaching them to the bottom and little black dots for eyes. Finally, for the last three she pinches the dough up into little spikes along its body, followed by using excess purple dough to build up two long spikes on its head and a tail on its rear, then two stumpy arms and legs against its side. Add two rough triangles to make eyes and a crescent of white for a big, cheshire cat grin, and viola! Three cute (albeit a bit lopsided) Gengar.
As she goes to present them to the judges she has Ryou whip up a colorful mist with Aurora Veil, obscuring all but the front of the stage. She fixes her costume, sliding her mask back down and returning her sleeves to her proper position before stepping out of the fog with a single, empty plate in hand and Junko and Ryou flanking her on either side. Junko again uses Psychic to float each “ghost” upstage, towards Hiroko, and down onto the plate--and as Hiroko and her pokémon give their bow towards the judges, the plate floats out of her hand and over to their table.

Agatha felt so reinvigorated knowing exactly what she would be working on- truth be said she was ecstatic to put those on herself.
The entire thing could be summed up in one word: vintage.
Despite this being her very first time in anything like it, Agatha doesn’t show any signs of or even hints of nervousness. She has a very clear mind, and a goal to achieve.
The way people looked at her. From the everyday people around her, the colleagues of her college to even her opponents at the pokemon League- they all made the same exact face of pure horror. That is exactly what she is going for; bring those faces back in the audience one more time.
Agatha strutted her way towards the designated table at her slow pace, while one hand held onto her cane the other seemed to be carrying a sketchbook of sorts, alongside with a small purse. The elderly woman is more than confident in her work; she can see all the materials just waiting for her- the promised Ditto alongside with the unknown creature by its side.
That insect looking creature standing by the pink shapeshifting pokemon’s side, it must be the creature called Leavanny. They were a surprise to her- not by itself, (seeing how she had been explained how things were meant to go); rather she wasn’t quite sure what that pokemon truly looked like.
They were a lot taller than she imagined it to be. It isn’t like that bug looking pokemon would spark any interest on the ones she had brought alongside herself on stage, meaning no one is getting hurt this time around. Once the table was in her reach Agatha placed her belongings on the table.
The elderly woman gave a nod at her pokemon, which stood by her side and whistles at them to stand still in order to wait for their next orders. Tut was wrapped up by his wings Isolde stood by their side motionless, both poison types had their blank empty eyes on the woman and only her. Agatha faced away from them, now her attention was on her table- there seemed to have just about everything she needed for her work. Well- almost everything really, as expected she wouldn’t be getting the real Ninetales fur.
A shame really. Instead, she will have to use that synthetic generic fur, times like these made the former elite member to wish she were back in her youth’s era.
No time to mope about it, the first pokemon she will be working on is Isolde. She pulled up close to herself the notebook, and went straight to the page that had the rough sketch of the serpent creature. The elderly woman already knew precisely her pokemons’ measurements, Ditto will simply be her mannequin as such Agatha casted a glare at the pink blob creature. “Ditto would you be so kind to take the appearance of a short Arbok for me?” she asked the creature while picking it up and placing it on the floor. The pokemon firstly took a good look at Isolde, then TRANSFORMED into one of its kind however it was just about Agatha’s height much smaller in comparison to the real deal.
Isolde didn’t react to the other pokemon- in fact they seemed to be completely out of itself, as if they were completely unaware of its surroundings. “Leavanny get me the fur please.” She ordered and the bug type quickly walked up to her, while holding the roll with its leaf blades out for her. The elderly woman would pull on the fur, the first thing to be created would be the Arbok’s abbe as such she circled the transformed Ditto- holding one end in its front and meeting it on the other side. Isolde’s hood was a lot larger; with a simple mathematical equation done in the back of her mind, she took a pin from the small cushion on the table and precisely pinpointed the amount needed for that clothing article. Time to move on to the next step on the abbe’s creation, a chain will be holding the piece together- after all she wants the creepy mark in its hood to stay as visible as possible. “That will do Ditto.” Agatha said, allowing the pokemon to morph back to its original form “Now cut this right here Leavanny, and put the roll back on the table.” She pointed the exact place for the bug, while the insect SLASHED the piece out of the roll and followed the woman’s orders; Agatha started to rummage through the materials provided to her. It didn’t take long for her to find what she looked for, the golden single chain- its length was the exact one she needed as well. Lastly, she picked up two golden buttons, alongside with the sewing kit provided to her. Before the elderly woman could start assembling the abbe, she reached out for her purse- as expected for someone of her age her sight no longer was the greatest especially for things so close to her face. First, she got the line through the needle, sewed the buttons on the fur- and connected both ends with the golden chain. The piece in itself still was too long to be seen as a proper abbe.
That is when she faced Isolde with what seemed to be of sorts- a friendly smile; it wasn’t in anyway less creepier simply because it was on her. Agatha spread the whole thing apart, holding it out in front of the motionless Arbok. “My darling, would you be as kindly as to lend me a hand here?” While the way shorter woman referred to the Arbok, she would spring back to life in order to listen to her command. Isolde’s mouth opened widely- at first it seemed like she hadn’t listened to her mistress, but look and behold- ACID started to leak from its mouth, every droplet would land on the fabric. Holes would start to form on it; she stayed like that for what felt like 2 minutes or so- then all of the sudden Isolde landed a BITE onto it ripping the unnecessary length out of the abbe. Whatever she had in her mouth had been torn about into nothing but shreds, the venom was still leaking out of her and some of it had landed on the floor. The abbe was done, thanks to the corrosive venom and the fangs- it didn’t have a straight line to its back. Agatha placed the clothing article aside, the final touch on the Arbok would come in the form of a pearls collar- which would be placed around its tail. They were obviously fake, the ideal kind for something that would be put on a pokemon. The woman reached out for Isolde’s tail and placed it on the table, she made sure to shoo both Leavanny and Ditto- the last thing Agatha would want is for the serpent to be startled. She quickly reached out for the reel of pearls chain (she just needed to cincture the beast’s rear), and in a matter of a minute Agatha assembled the prop- releasing Isolde’s tail right afterwards.
“Grab me a chair and bring it over there Leavanny, quick!” Agatha ordered while pointing a finger at a spot by the Arbok’s side. The bug type seemed confused at first- they even let out a nervous chirpping, but soon enough they found the chair sitting by the table’s side- they quickly ran towards the woman who had the abbe in her hands. The chair was placed in the correct spot “Stand still” the former elite member said, as she had to put aside her walking cane in order to hold onto the pokemon and get onto the chair. Now she could easily place the abbe on the back of Isolde’s hood, which had perfectly fitted- it may look a bit tight on the pokemon but it was clear that they could move, and didn’t show any sign of discomfort.
Agatha now had to work on Tut. “Hopefully my arthritis will be nice to me tonight.” She joked now looking at her Golbat, who still was hugging himself with the wings- having barely moved besides the breathing motion. The woman walked towards the table now looking for the body paint provided to her, the white color is all that she needs for him (by then Isolde had slithered back to the table- returning to her stationary form). Her gaze now fell upon the Ditto, while she took the paintbrush “Ditto stand still in front of Tut, and transform into them!” the former elite member ordered, as she watched the pink blob creature make its way towards the bat pokemon. Upon shapeshifting into him, Tut’s wings spread open widely revealing the mouth with the four fangs in full display- they also shared the Arbok’s empty gaze. The woman signaled for the Leavanny to bring the chair over, now on top of it Agatha started the drawing on the left- wing. At first they may seem like random white lines, some are straight others come off curly- or even crooked eventually the drawing became clear.
Obviously, she still had to do the same thing on the other side’s wing, but the outcome would clearly be a pair of eyes with lines that simulated spiders’ webs. The dark purple was the perfect shade, so the lines stood out the most on the pokemon. Slowly but surely Agatha would work on the Golbat, using the Leavanny as a support for herself every time her legs felt weak. She was very close to run out of the color, thankfully she managed to get the whole thing. While getting off the chair with Leavanny’s help, Agatha took a quick look over at the timer. “Ditto stay like that, don’t transform back we must keep Tut’s wings like that so the paint will dry up a lot faster.” Agatha said to the disguised pokemon.
It appears she will have to hurry up and get her dress done- she can even see a few empty tables from the corner of her eye. The paint was thrown aside, a napkin had been pulled out from her purse in order to clean her hands off. The elite member walked over to her sketchbook, and flipped a few pages until getting to her outfit’s design. The woman stretched her arms and snapping her fists’ joints in the process. “Leavanny, with me.” She said- the first dress her hands landed on was quickly grabbed and thrown onto the mannequin, it was a long dinner in the wine color. Agatha reached out for the pins and needles; there was no time to waste- the measurements were no brainer to her. As such she immediately started to pinpoint exactly where Leavanny would first work on. “Isolde. Get the velvet for me, give it to Leavanny.” The Arbok sprung back to life, as it slithered away to look for what her mistress had asked for “I need you to cut this much for me of the velvet fabric, as well as to get rid of the sleeves.” The former elite member shot a gaze upon the insect, while indicating it on her arms and pointing it exactly where the bug type is meant to do its magic. Agatha quickly faced away from the dress so she could work on the props.
The first one was a black fascinator, the hat’s base had been provided to her. All that she needed to add to it was the fake red Pidgeot’s feather by sewing it there, once the feather seemed firm enough on the piece- it was time to move onto the next one. It was time to work on an abbe for herself, she reached out for the roll of fur- despite it seemed like she was being careless by the way she handled the fabric, it was evident how much experience the woman carried under her belt. The abbe was quite huge- especially for Agatha’s body, it was meant to cover her majority of her torso- at last Leavanny was done with its previous task “Now sew all of these together!” The former elite member ordered, as she whistled at her Arbok to come over “Now darling, use your fangs on the skirt. Don’t you dare to go anyway upwards.” Isolde nodded, her mouth opened widely before her countless rounds of BITES on the dress started. Agatha didn’t look away from her pokemon not even for a second, once she was satisfied with the torn out result there was a snap of her fingers- prompting the serpent to cease and slither away. By then Leavanny had finished sewing the abbe and gloves together.
“Perfect.” The woman muttered- she was getting close to the end. Obviously she doesn’t have the time to get all fancy with her make up, as such a foundation alongside with an eyeshadow and a lipstick are more than enough for her. It was time to get dressed up and head straight to the stage.
As Agatha moved around her dress’ skirt would be dragged on the floor, the walking pace was quite slow making sure she wouldn’t end up tripping on her own masterpiece. The woman was all by herself when she made it to the center of the stage, at least for now. Her left hand held one of the pokeballs, the second one was located right on the cane’s handle. It seemed as though her cane hadn’t been altered in the slightest, after all the whole piece resembled a twisted branch of a dead tree.
The former elite member waited for the music to start playing with an unfazed expression, her gaze was glued to the crowd. She was back at being people’s attentions – how much she had missed that sensation, as soon as the music started to be played a wide grin had formed on her face- it was one that displayed her teeth. The pokeball in her hand was tossed up in the air, while the one in her cane’s handle had its button pressed releasing both beasts onto the stage.
Tut still was wrapped up in his wings and in the air when he was completely free of the ball’s restrains, before the Golbat landed on the floor its wings spread open widely allowing them to land on the floor gracefully all the while showcasing the painting in his wings. Isolde on the other hand had essentially slithered out of the pokeball, heading towards the other pokemon. “Good night everybody!” Agatha directed her word at the people watching her, one arm waved at them before she spinned in place “We hope you are all having a lovely night! Isolde darling, why don’t you give them a taste?”
The serpent creature remained motionless for a moment, as if they hadn’t heard her mistress- her white soulless eyes only contributed to that idea. Only to jolt towards the crowd at a very high, she was SCREECHING at the humans- in a very high pitched tone as well. The jaw opened as much as it could, revealing the fangs and the ACID that already was inside of the creature’s mouth. Just when she was about to leap off at the people, Agatha snapped her fingers- making the creature to stop dead in place. ACID was visibly leaking from her mouth, some of it even falling on the floor just beneath her. They were so close to the people, this way they could not only see the outfit they had on themselves- but the infamous face found on her hood.
A chortle left the elderly woman, as she snapped once again her fingers. The Arbok’s mouth loudly shut itself, before slithering her way back to the elderly woman. “I hope everyone is still here with us tonight.” Agatha said, still chuckling loudly.
There was a clap of her hands, followed by Tut taking off from the land and started to shroud the stage with HAZE, a dark fog had formed- making visibility near impossible. One that the former elite member and the Arbok had walked into, the music was approaching its end- so did the stage’s presentation. Inside of the dark cloud, Isolde coiled herself around the woman keeping her underneath her hood. The Golbat then flew out of the dark cloud, and proceeded to flap his wings in a very high pace- creating a WHIRLWIND. A gust of wind so powerful, that the HAZE had been spread over the floor- dissipating it in the process and revealing his mistress standing in its very center, while being protected from the wind by Isolde.
The flying type quickly descended- not landing on the floor, instead they were at the perfect height for Agatha to take one of his paws and shoot one final glare at the crowd as the music came to its end. Surprisingly the hood did effectively serve as some kind of umbrella to her, meaning Agatha’s hair still seemed to be in place- in fact the outfit was intact. The former elite member then bowed forward in response to the applauses, whereas her pokemon kept staring at the others around them with their blank gaze.
Now, it was all up to the judges.

Once Reiji settled on a recipe and had both himself and his pokemon dressed in their costumes, it was time for his turn on the stage. Taking a deep breath, Reiji walked out onto the stage to applause, and cheers from his fans in the Kalos region. With a bright smile and a wave, Reiji greeted the audience, as well as the judges. He was wearing a version of the standard witch and wizard costume; a purple, pointed hat and cloak with emerald green stitches, orange trim with red and orange diamonds outlining the cloak. Underneath he wore an orange vest with a red tie, followed by purple pants that matched his hat and cloak and ending with brown boots with the similar diamond pattern that could be found at the bottom of his cloak. He also wore a headphone and mic set so the audience could hear him while music played in the background. Reiji also used the standard lighting provided.
“Hello, everyone~! Are you all ready for a spooktacular time?~” He waited for the applause and cheers to die down before continuing his little monologue of sorts. “My companions and I are going to prepare something fitting for the occasion, but doughnut fear! It’ll be tasty and enjoyable~!” Reiji then reached for three pokeballs, expanding them before tossing them into the air with a dramatic flourish. “Come on out, my magical companions~!”
The first pokeball opened to reveal Bella, a bellossom wearing a hat and cape that matched her trainer’s outfit. Bella gave the audience a twirl and curtsy as the second pokeball opened to reveal Mara-chan.  The cactus pokemon also woe a matching hat and cloak, but in his hand was a stick that was fashioned into the style of a magic wand, which he waved and pointed it at the audience. The last pokeball opened to reveal Whimsy, a Whimsicott who also had a matching hat but not a cloak. Instead the cotton fluff that made up his head and ruffled collar was adorned with purple, orange, and red confetti. Whimsy then floated in the air, striking a dramatic pose complete with an attempt at a sinister grin before gently floating down next to his teammates.
“Now that we are all here, it’s time to get started!~ Today we are going to make a Kotospooky Reiji favourite: Scarily, delicious doughnuts~!” As he spoke he made his way to the kitchen space provided, his pokemon following along behind him.
“First we need to prepare the ingredients, but only after it is safe to do so~” All three pokemon hopped onto the counter space near the sink to wash up, along with their trainer before moving over to the empty counter space. Here Reiji took out all the bowls and measuring utensils they would need before soon getting his pokemon to go get the ingredients needed.
“Now we are going to take this medium sized bowl here to prepare our first ingredients! Whimsy, can you get the flour for me? It should be in the cupboard just above you. Bella, I’ll need the sugar and cocoa powder, which are also in the same cupboard. Mara-chan, can you get the baking soda and chocolate chips? They should also be in the same cupboard.” All three nodded before getting their respective ingredients. Whimsy, due to being able to float, went up and opened the cupboard before tossing the ingredients down to the remaining pokemon, who managed to catch them with skill before glaring up at the cotton pokemon.
Once each had their ingredients, they went back over to Reiji, who took the ingredients and placed them on the counter. He was then joined by all three pokemon who took turns adding the ingredients when instructed to by Reiji. While each had equal roles to play, it didn’t stop Whimsy and Mara-chan from trying to one up each other; each pokemon added their ingredients with a dramatic flair and flourish, much like their trainer while shooting smirks, or glares at each other. Bella simply shook her head before fixing each with a warning stare.
Reiji, seemingly oblivious to his pokemon’s antics, continued as if nothing was happening. “Now we nix all of these together, like so~ Once finished, we need to mix the rest of the ingredients in a smaller bowl.” Reiji reached over to the bowl in question before looking back to his three assistants. “Bella, can you get the vanilla and oil? They should be in the cupboard just below me. Whimsy, can you go to the fridge and get the milk for me? Mara-chan, I’ll leave the eggs to you, but be careful with them. They should be in the fridge with the milk.” Again all of his pokemon did as instructed; Bella got the ingredients from the cupboard, which Reiji took while Whimsy went to open the fridge. Reaching inside, Whimsy took out the milk and floated over with it to Reiji, not bothering to leave the door open for Mara-chan. As a result the cactus pokemon had to quickly catch it, ending up with it partially closing on him.
Bella, having noticed this, fixed Whimsy with a glare until the cotton pokemon floated back over to help Mara-chan out. By this time Mara-chan had the fridge door pushed open and was trying to reach for the eggs. Due to his height he was unable to reach them, so Whimsy floated into the fridge and opened the carton of eggs and taking a few out. Once the fridge door was closed, Whimsy not so subtly dropped the eggs down to Mara-chan. “Coooot~” ‘Catch.’ Mara-chan did so with ease, going so far as to juggle each one as it fell. This brought a smirk to the cactus’s lips as he moved over to Reiji, still juggling the eggs while Whimsy glared at him. “Cot.” ‘Show off.’
Reiji was quick to pluck the eggs from the air, adding them to the mixture as his other pokemon took turns adding their ingredients. He had paid no mind to the antics of his pokemon, though Bella  still kept an eye on the other two as Reiji spoke again.
“Now we pour the contents of the smaller bowl into the bigger one, like so, before mixing it altogether! Once done, we then need to add them to the doughnut pan!” Reiji reached for said pan before spooning the mixture into the pan. He then looked off to the right side of the stage where the lighting crew was, giving them a nod before the lights on his portion of the stage dimmed.
Next we need to heat things up a bit, and who better to do so than Bella?~ It’s time to shine brightly with Sunny Day~!” Bella gave a nod before stretching out her arms, as she did so the kitchen space erupted into a sudden burst of light and heat, though after a minute she concentrated the bulk of it into the doughnut pan.
“Excellent~ While Bella is baking them, we can prepare for the most fun part; decorating! These doughnuts need a nice glaze to start it off, so we’re going to use the remaining ingredients and this small bowl to do so~” He then had both his remaining pokemon add sugar, milk, and vanilla into the small bowl before whisking them altogether to create the glaze.
After a good five to eight minutes of baking, the doughnuts were baked and ready for decorating! Reiji carefully dipped each doughnut into the glazed mix before setting them onto a baking sheet he had prepared after making the glaze. Once all the doughnuts were glazed and laying there he moved towards the finale.
“While the glaze is settling, it’s time to get spooky with it! Mara-chan, use Pin Missle to make them spooky!” The cactus pokemon grinned, his arms glowing before he lept into the air. Once midair, Mara-chan released a small barrage of needles, each sticking into the doughnuts to form a pattern; one doughnut had a pumpkin shaped needle pattern while another was shaped like a bat. On and on this went until each doughnut sported a Halloween themed pattern of needles.
“Good work, though we are not yet done! Whimsy, use Cotton Spore to make a fluffy top! Bella, use Magical Leaf to trim the cotton and add your own flair!” Both pokemon used their attacks simultaneously; the cotton from the Cotton Spore settling on top of the needles while the razor sharp edges from Magical Leaf sliced and shape the cotton so it matched the needle outline. A few of the leaves settled in the gaps the cotton did not cover, making it so the patterns created by the needles popped out for everyone to see.
“And now we have our Kotospooky Doughnuts~! Be sure to take the needles out before eating them; that’s one toothache you don’t want this Halloween!”
Reiji and his pokemon bowed to the applause before he took his creation over for the judges to try, his pokemon following behind him.

oh fuck, he’s hot.
Tumblr media
no nonononono, he can’t be that hot. she hates him. after all, @astralinity was the one who said that wallace inventing #Thotoween was karma--she can’t let that go. the intricate detail on his entry notwithstanding, she doesn’t like it because she doesn’t like him. frowning, she delivers her verdict.
LOOKS: 15 / 30
❝okay, you wanted to be a hot vampire. big deal. YOU FORGOT TO MAKE COSTUMES FOR YOUR POKÉMON TOO! so, lots of points off for that!!❞ the perfect excuse to take off points, as it was both true and legal.
COMPLEXITY: 19 / 30
❝i mean, the whole thing was just so basic. you came in with your shirt off which got my attention, but the rest of the thing wasn’t even worth watching. i swear to god, i like yuugetsu’s creepy performance better than yours. i am so glad that there were two other people onstage at the same time as you, because otherwise i think i would’ve fallen asleep. what a yawn!❞
ORIGINALITY: 20 / 30
❝i admit, i’ve never really seen a vampire dressed like that before--usually they’re all doom and gloom. i guess you could get some points for that. but…tamato berry juice as blood? that’s just so tacky. also, you could’ve really put more thought into your pokémons’ costumes--they were barely dressed, you should’ve made them something else!❞
BONUSES:
❝you get +15 for using taunt, psychic and will-o-wisp. which means…❞

oh wow. for once she can actually tell that someone is trying to kiss her ass. quite wise of @firewarriorshamus to do so in his entry, given the comments he’d made about her attitude toward poor people, but…is it going to fly with her? not with all that edgyass gore on the ground--are those ketchup packs? for the love of arceus…
Tumblr media
and now a MUSTACHE? HOW DARE HE?! who cares if it’s an accident--that’s just so gross and ew and it just SHOWS he can’t do anything right. fuming, she balls a fist and delivers her verdict.
LOOKS: 5 / 30
❝okay. the blood was tacky, the torn-up dolls were tacky, and the mustache was unforgivable. you made me look ugly, okay? and that’s just--that’s just not fair! i deserve better than to be treated this way by my own contestants. did may train you to do this because i’m going to have to give her a piece of my MIND about her student messing up like this on my stage!❞ however, it isn’t even a bigger mess than ursula had already made of her own showcase. ironic.
COMPLEXITY: 10 / 30
❝okay first of all, are those stuffed dolls what you would call stage decorations? nuh-uh! like, if you’re going to leave wallace a bloody mess onstage, at least make him look like the real wallace. and no offense, but like, blood and guts really aren’t my thing…you really should’ve just decapitated another wallace statue. second, points off again for putting a mustache on my carving. if you want to portray me at all, DO IT RIGHT!!❞
ORIGINALITY: 15 / 30
❝well, i certainly wasn’t expecting anything along those lines, i’ll give you that. i feel like i should give you less, but it’s not like you’re going to move on to the next round anyway so. just remember that mistakes will cost you!❞
BONUSES & CROWD VOTE:

just as planned.
@estrellawn‘s entry has gone down in flames, and ursula herself started the fire. the leavanny that wouldn’t listen did its job, and now she and her pokémon run backstage with their tails tucked between their legs. ah, victory, sweeter than any of the desserts that had been offered to her today, but unlike dessert this revenge was best served cold. cold as the icy landscape of her heart, and bitter as a ripe durin berry in the spring.
she can’t say so, though--it’s a risk even to smirk. the only sorrow to this “happy” ending lies in that she cannot LAUGH before the world at the woman who thought she could call her a friend…but she can critique like wallace, for the sake of being “objective.” with hardly a hint of emotion on her face, she delivers her verdict.
LOOKS: 0 / 30
❝well, that was embarrassing, can’t we agree?❞ she simpers. ❝honey, you had the right idea, but i simply can’t give points to an entry that can’t even stay together through a performance. this is the looks category, and nothing looks worse than watching someone’s dreams fall apart. what can i say? both you and your dress broke down.❞
COMPLEXITY: 0 / 30
❝you were quite excited for this, weren’t you? bursting with enthusiasm. ready for your audience’s wildest expectations to go to pieces. practically coming apart at the seams. i feel so sorry for you, i think i’m about to tear up~❞ a slight smile, a tilt of the head. ❝unfortunately, as an impartial judge, i need a brain as well as a heart. as sad as it will be for your hopes to come undone…i’m going to have to give you another zero.❞
ORIGINALITY: 5 / 30
❝i do feel sorry for you, dawn. i really do. you came here thinking you could win it all, and then your clothing fell tragically short. however, in spite of the absolutely insipid gore theme of your work--which i suppose is fitting, given the bloodbath that was your performance--i think you deserve a few pity points because i mean…you were trying. at least you had the decency to run offstage so that no one would see you.❞
she doesn’t recognize the kuchisake onna theme, nor does she want to. even if she did, her score would not have changed.
BONUSES & CROWD VOTE:
❝well, you got +5 for using psychic…i suppose you need all the help you can get. this means--❞

oh nice, a creepy haunted castle! @3000yearmonarch has a really unique take on stage decorating in her entry--totally different from the classic haunted houses that she had expected from her international crowd. and her pokémon are so into it, too. she loves the sight of them hard at work, clawing and biting away at the fabric and styrofoam and--
Tumblr media
wait ,are those portraits?! that was…gosh, she didn’t really know what to say. on one hand, if her mom was cool with it, cool. on the other hand, those were HER paintings on HER wall and HNNnnnnNNNNNnghhh!!
she pauses. once she’s collected herself enough to know what she wants to say, she delivers her verdict.
LOOKS: 18 / 30
❝okay, you had a nice idea, but did you really have to go grabbing my portraits from my castle?❞ she slams a hand on the judge’s table. ❝that’s just so rude, oh my god. couldn’t you, like, do the haunted castle effect without stealing from me? you could’ve SMUDGED them!❞
COMPLEXITY: 26 / 30
❝anyway, it was a really nice setup i guess. you were more elaborate than some of your competitors, that’s for sure. you got all the details just right except for the portraits. that was completely unnecessary.❞
ORIGINALITY: 23 / 30
❝all right fine, i admit it, that was something i’ve never seen before. but i’m just really upset that you used my paintings. okay?❞
BONUSES:
❝you get +15 for using shadow claw, crunch and will-o-wisp, and another +5 for using a mawile which i also use. which means…❞

oh. oh god. is she actually expected to EAT THAT? what in hell’s name was @lunarisvesperaregina even putting in her entry--is that even safe for human consumption? she visibly scoots back in her chair as yuugetsu approached, eyeing the crème brûlée--that thing probably has poison in it.
eventually, after a long series of protestations (1 / 2), she dips her spoon into the crust, and…
Tumblr media
it’s GOOD? what the heck? oh gosh, she just has to eat more! this is on par with the dessert served right here in her castle, for arceus’ sake. still reeling from the difference between the sight and the taste, she delivers her verdict:
LOOKS: 20 / 30
❝w…well the treat itself looked fine, it’s just…you terrified me, yuugetsu! don’t ever do that to me again!❞ she shouldn’t have taken off points, as that’s what halloween is for, but given her personality--all’s well and good until she’s the one on the receiving end of a scare.
COMPLEXITY: 30 / 30
❝that was…quite a performance you put on while making it, even though it was creepy as heck. the flavor is also really complex and subtle--it’s the kind of thing i’m used to, you know, so good job on that i guess.❞
 ORIGINALITY: 30 / 30
❝i have never seen anything done like that in my entire life. even by halloween standards it super freaked me out. i…wow. i can’t even put it into words. i’m just…❞ ursula, the word you’re looking for is shook.
BONUSES:
❝well, you get +5 for using psychic and +5 for using spirit shackle. i, like, didn’t expect you to do this well, but--❞

❝Yuugetsu…your score is 90 POINTS!❞

well, what did you know? @dracaelum-faerie was as cute and nice to watch onstage as she was off. what a relief, because sometimes it could be very much the opposite. thank goodness this was a performance that she could give a good score to. giving a small round of applause, she delivers her verdict:
LOOKS: 27 / 30
❝i would so wear your mermaid dress and i would so use your seaking costume. and that’s enough to get you a good score in my book. plus your presentation? spot-on. loved the dialogue and the gyarados acting!❞
COMPLEXITY: 26 / 30
❝you did quite a bit of work with your pokémon there! some of the costumes turned out rather simple, but i think i can live with that. i just looooove the work you did on your mermaid dress and also the seaking. the mareanie was a little bit underwhelming, but you know what, i think i’ll let that slide.❞
ORIGINALITY: 26 / 30
❝okay, i’m gonna be honest, mermaids for water pokémon is a bit of an obvious choice. but you do have two non-water types that you made look exactly like water ones, plus you actually made most of them look like the pokémon they were supposed to be.❞
BONUSES & CROWD VOTE:
❝you get +15 for using toxic spikes, psychic and bite. you also get +10 for making your alolan exeggutor look scary and +10 for making that whiscash of yours look beautiful--i would have never been able to tell it was a whiscash! which means…❞
