1. Jimmy or Spinner

I love Spinner but Jimmy imo is a better person than him.

2. Zoe or Grace

This was very hard because I adore them both to death, but Grace’s storylines in Next Class really touch my heart. Not that Zoe’s also didn’t because they did (the season 4 finale makes me wanna cry). But I just really love Grace and her friendship with Maya is everything to me.

3. Drew Torres or Mike Dallas

Dallas no hesitation haha. Drew, while I do like him, he’s kind of a fuckboy at times haha. Like Craig if you will. But I do think he is a good person and has a good heart. And I will forever defend him on the Katie situation because that shit was not consensual and Katie was definitely playing the victim imo.

4. Clare or Alli

I love Clare but Alli is my baby. As an Indian female, I love seeing people who look like me onscreen. And while I have a different experience than Alli, I still love seeing her and Sav onscreen and their developments.

5. Lola or Frankie

While I have my own issues with Lola, I adore her s3-4 stuff. Her development and maturity was very beautiful to see onscreen. And I just love her friendship with Yael.

Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite for hating Peter because of him sending out Mannys nudes while loving Alli who did the same thing to Bianca but Allis just way more likeable and had better development so I kinda look past that. Both are wrong obviously and I’m not excusing Alli but it’s just how I look at it.

So I just finished re-watching Seasons 13 and 14 of Degrassi (because why not), and I just have to rant about the infamous moment when Eli called Clare a whore in Season 14's "Hero vs. Villain."

Eli is such a fucking hypocrite. He cheated on her with Lenore; he admitted that they kissed and some clothes came off in Season 13's "Spiderwebs", when he and Clare were still very much together.

Clare, on the other hand, broke up with Eli first and then slept with Drew, in that order, in Season 13's "Sparks Will Fly." The only reason she turned to Drew in the first place was specifically because she was distraught over Eli cheating on her, which he initially hid from her. That's right, he initially hid the fact that he cheated on her. It wasn't until she discovered Lenore's cigarettes in Eli's bag in Season 13's "Black or White" that he finally confessed that he cheated on her with Lenore.

Clare only assumed that Drew was her baby daddy because he was the last person she slept with; she literally said this almost verbatim to Alli. However, once she found out that she was 16 weeks pregnant instead of 12, she realized that Eli was the father. That's what she was trying to tell him in "Hero vs. Villain", before he shut her up and unfairly called her a whore.

Personally, I think Clare shouldn't have immediately assumed that Drew was the dad, but I do get it: Drew was the last person she slept with, so naturally, she was going to make that assumption. Granted, given how smart Clare is, you would've thought she would've checked more thoroughly how far along she was. On the other hand, her pregnancy was such a shock because of her cancer, so I also understand that she wasn't exactly in a right state of mind after she discovered she was pregnant.

But anyways, my point is, Eli has no fucking right to call Clare a whore. He cheated on her in the previous season; meanwhile, she broke up with him first and then slept with Drew. Eli is the fucking whore here, not Clare.

when i suggested i might do this on my main blog some of you expressed mild interest, so i've decided to give the people what they want and make a degrassi: the next generation character tournament.

i'm keeping this to opening credit tng characters (there will be two characters who aren't in the opening credits but whose presence looms so large that they had to be included anyway) because it was the only way i could make the math work, and also i thought it would be unfair to the degrassi junior high and degrassi high characters to set them against the tng kids. if this gains some traction and people are interested, maybe i'll do separate polls for the ogs and the next class kids (although many of them are featured in the tng polls as well) after we're done with the tng tournament.

i'm going to post the qualifying rounds later today. they'll consist of sixteen groups of five. i made the lists using a randomizer. the least voted character in each round will be disqualified, while the other four will move on to the main tournament. that way i'll narrow 80 main characters down to 64. i'll also be using these qualifiers to help seed the bracket. qualifying polls will be week-long.

this is the most math i've done willingly since high school so i hope you all appreciate the sacrifices i'm making here.

Alli, I can see her being in love with Clare and having an enemies to gfs storyline with Bianca.

Clare, same thing. Her and Jenna would’ve been so fun together. Same with her and Bianca, Imogen, etc.

Jenna, to me, is such a disaster bi. I’m really into the hc that she was into Clare in s9 but thinking that she’s str8, she settles for KC instead.

Bianca is also definitely bi in my eyes. Her and Marisol having an enemies to gfs storyline would’ve been fun. Also her and Clare having a Janny-esque dynamic with them being unexpected but so good together >>

Marisol is also bi as fuck. Her and Katie are literally best friends to lovers gold (one of the three redeemable things about Katie). Also like I said, her and Bianca being enemies to lovers. Same with her and Fiona.

Maya is also bi as hell in my eyes. I love the idea of her having an enemies to girlfriends dynamic with Zoe. Also her and Tori being best friends to lovers is a serve (au with Toraya getting together in s11b)

Tori, if I didn’t ship her with Zig and Miles, she’d be such a disaster lesbian in my mind. I like the idea of her taking shots at Maya because she likes her but doesn’t know how to express it.

Manny is bi af, no question. Her and Ellie could’ve been a “ditch-the-ex” thing in s5 instead of the Cr*nny/Cr*llie mess. I read a fic of them and I’m really into them. Also her and Paige as enemies to girlfriends >>>. I also love her and Liberty as besties to girlfriends. And even though I hate Emma/Manny, I’m not gonna pretend there isn’t any gf energy there.

Ellie is definitely a chaotic bisexual. She had such great potential enemies to gfs dynamics with Paige and Manny. Also let’s appreciate the fact that she and Paige canonically kissed and she started it and didn’t look not into it.
