this kid. ❤️ third of the lot and constantly pushing me into growing myself as a parent. she’s the best and worst of me, and I’m so grateful we have her. this week, dropoffs at daycare have been hard. she’s been crying and refusing to go. her educators were struggling with COVID and staff shortage, and the kids feel stressed too. they are doing their best, and we have to do our part as well. trusting that the kids will be OK and resilient. when she refuses to get out of the car, i used to be so frustrated. but now, I make the decision for her, that going to daycare is non-negotiable. and me staying calm through her angry tears and holding her tight to lend her my calm instead of getting frustrated has worked repeatedly and with great success. Appointments in a pandemic are inevitable, so in turn we are taking precautions to make sure we stay safe and help protect those around us as well. In the past 4 months Emma has only had to have 2 in person appointments, her last visit with her developmental pediatrician (because she only treats under 3) and her preschool evaluations to write her IEP. Though it felt like one of these could’ve been done in person they both turned out great and we got what was needed!! Emma’s new prescriptions for therapies after she turns 3 and ages out of Early Intervention and that she will be able to attend Foundation for Blind Children for preschool!!! We’ve been preparing for that moment for months and were ready to got to bat and even take a few walks to make sure she was able to attend a school where all of her needs were taken care of and adapted to her abilities so that she wouldn’t fall even further behind. Going into her very last week of AZEIP we are so thankful for her therapists who have helped her progress and have helped us get her to where we are now.
