I SPENT ALMOST 2 WEEKS ON IT BUT IT'S FINALLY DONE!

A handmade figure of my Spore creature!

THE CREATURE IS REAL!!!

Yeah I made an alpferd out of clay, why not? It was made partially because I wanted to have a 3D reference that looked closer to my way of drawing them, and partially because I just wanted to have an alpferd figure. I don't have a way to 3D print them directly from the game so I had to take matters into my own hands (literally).

Also my brother did the photoshoot so shout-outs to him!

Will I come back to drawing now? I'm not sure. I don't want to make promises. But I have a need for it now so I think some new stuff is coming soon. (No promises, because I promised something last time and disappeared for two weeks immediately after...)

So here is the rest of my Spore creature's looks. I'm still trying to figure out how to draw them because I have some plans for the future. I might draw the versions from other stages aswell. Also these are very simple because that was the very first time I've ever drawn them digitally. Next time I'll try to make something more polished.

Ooookay, yesterday I said that I might explain the lore behind my Spore captain's story... so here it goes. This is him at the beginning by the way:

Why is he a cell? What's going on? Well let's just say that he's a little bit older than any other alpferd. Or show I say he's mind and memories? Because as I played through Spore, I imagined that the creature we played as always remembered it's previous lives. So the captain isn't immortal but he gets reincarnated every time.

He doesn't know why it happens. Almost no one believes him and they just think he's going crazy. And that's how creature stage passes. Only his packmates want to be anywhere near close to him. And they still think that he's a bit weird. It's weird when he talks about something he shouldn't even know happened.

But he carries on. He feels like he's on a mission to lead his species to greatness. Years pass and he manages to become the chieftain of his new tribe, and allies most of the other tribes (it's more complicated than just that, but I'll talk about it eventually). And finally in the civilization stage, he manages to peacefully unite the whole world (well, as peacefully as possible...).

After all that, he becomes one of two captains of their planet's main spaceship (Yes, there's two of them, but I'll talk about it some other day. But it's related to the fact that I played Spore with my brother).

Buuut, he doesn't really have a name. Well he does but there's just so many of them. Like thousands or milions of them! But I'll eventually give him a name that he uses in the space stage.

I feel a little silly after writing all of that. If anyone is interested by my horse-bugs then I'll happily respond to questions. It'll even help me develop them more. Believe me i'm extremely attached to them for whatever reason, and I really like to come up with new stuff for them.

I think the next things I'll tackle are their clothes and armor. I'll figure out how it all works and stuff. And I'll draw the two captains! And also explain the stages in more detail because this is just a "quick" summary. Why is it so fun to just think of full lore for creatures you made in a 15 year old game?

Well it's official. These guys won't be leaving my brain anytime soon. I mean, I'm not complainig. I'm being more creative because of that, coming up with lore for them and characters maybe? This is all new for me, I've never made a single original character in my life for some reason so I guess this was bound to happen eventually.

Also I've decided to finally think of a name for them(Their in-game name was stupid and their planet is named Toster...)- Alpferds! Because they're like horses or something. I'll see if that sticks around.

I hope at least one person is happy to see how they look in the game. And how should I end my rambling? Uhh. Let's just say that I might post something about my captain's story concept tomorrow. It's probably going to be a bit dumb, i'm not a good writer or anything, but why not. I'm happy with it. If someone took their time to read this then, uh, congratulations I like you.

Friendly neighbourhood alien scientists

Yesss more Maxis creatures! ( Well they don't look exactly how they should but i couldn't fit their second pair of arms in the front so I moved them to the side) This one I actually encountered quite quickly, because their empire was close to mine. They were at war with some banana empire I don't remember. Some time after that I befriended them and we've been allies ever since. Well they are fighting my other allies right now and I don't really know what to do about that. I'm just waiting for them to figure it out on their own...

And they're called the Halucynatus empire in the Polish translation so that's how I'm going to refer to them. I actually don't want to change that. And yes they are canon in the "alpferd lore" (God that sounds so stupid). Their technology is much more advanced (cuz they're science nerds, duh) so alpferds very often exchange spices for the halucynatus' atmosphere-building inventions. And they're not the only allies alpferds have! But most other ones aren't Maxis creatures. Almost all of them were created by me, and one is from a disc that was in a magazine (I'll explain what I mean once I'll draw them).

More about my alpferds!

They're herbivores, of course and being kind and peaceful is in their nature. This is a plus in some ways. Now that they are in the space stage, they prefer to make allies rather than enemies. Talking things out is their most common way to end conflicts. It works most of the time, but that does mean that if na alpferd is just not "a very good person" they will take advantage of others. This is why during the civilization stage many cities were military- alpferds hungry for power took over whole cities and simply wanted everything to be only about themselves. And these kinds of alpferds can still be reasoned with. They're just much more like humans when it comes to their morals and beliefs.

I should probably add that an alpferd, even if it's attacked, will not start fighting back until they have tried to peacefully end the battle. Sometimes they realise that the opponent can't be stopped with pacifist ways too late. But if they're able to protect themselves they mostly use their horns as weapons to tackle their enemy. They can also hit with their mantis-claw-thingies on their arms.

(these can be any colour, I just coloured them like that here) The green outfit is what they use during space travel. The orange and pink are just casual clothes. The orange one is for colder times of the year. But alpferds don't really wear clothes because they have to. It's just because they want to. They don't have anything they have to cover, they just find dressing up a really good way to express themselves. They could wear any human shirt they'd want, they just need to make holes for their wings in the back. And they mostly wear skirts and not trousers or something, because it would be uncomfortable with their electric part (it doesn't produce electricity anymore...)

Now I'll add something about my precious captain...and the second captain. Of course he is one of the nicest creatures in the whole Spore galaxy (am I just joking now... Maybe.) And despite being basically millions of years old, he managed to stay just as cheerfull and sociable as he's always been. However he doesn't always know when to stop talking and many find him very annoying. And I'll add that it's really hard to convince him. So yeah others find him annoying for being stubborn too. Oh, and his current name is Michał (try to pronounce it before looking it up, I dare you >:D) He's had many different names throughout the years but this is the one he has now.

And the other guy is Trevor (named by my brother who I Play Spore with). He's one oth those more humanlike alpferds. Violence is his first option for everything, at least at the beginning of space stage. And he's generally not very nice to his crew. But he is the only one who can fight well ( mostly by skillfully shooting down the enemy spaceships), so he is useful in that regard. Also he doesn't just pick on his crew members for no reason, he's pretty docile in casual conversations( except when he's talking to or about Michał. They REALLY don't like eachother. I wonder if that will ever change...)

Okay, that's all for today. I might do something about their machines and buildings next! If you have questions then I'll gladly answer. Like, really gladly.

Tribal stage time! I think I finally finally figured out how I'll color my creatures! And how to draw their wings a bit better! But the way I'll draw their design is still in the works. Anyway, this is their tribal outfit. Probably my favorite I've made from the three possible (But drawing the hat is NOT fun. I'll forever regret giving them something like this. I constantly forget about the additional horns.) And this is, of course, the chieftain! (whose name was Kibela if I remember correctly.)

Some more Spore empires.

The halucynatus empire again, but this time without most of their accessories (aside from the crown, they look weird when they don't have it on). And as I mentioned in an earlier post, they are at war (at least in game) with these guys:

They started the war btw. And these ones were actually the alpferds' first allies! Which is funny because they're a warrior empire. They don't really have similar ideals to alpferds. And I can't figure out how to call them. In game they have a joke name, but I want to give their species an actual name. Also if you can guess what was the inspiration behind their design then I respect you (hint: I made them after watching SW episode 1)

And here's a member of the posleen empire! They were the first aliens alpferds made contact with. Only later they became their allies. They're also a trader empire, so they're just very friendly to be around. However the most interesting thing about them is their origin:

The posleen just happen to be an empire that was featured in a Polish magazine issue centered around Spore. So they were not only in the pictures in the magazine itself, every stage of their evolution is in the bonus disc that came with the magazine. Aside from that the CD has some creatures who were most likely taken from sporepedia. And some were probably sent by the readers.

So this empire will appear frequently, they were the ones who introduced alpferds to the galactic community.

I should make a post that explains the lore of this universe better. I'll do that when I'll have the energy.

Also sorry for not posting more frequently! Recently when coming back home from school I don't have the desire to draw for no reason.

Maxis creatures!

These are the ones I encountered on the save with my alpferds. The tartakoid (this might be translated and I don't know how it's called in the original language but i'm talking about the green one) holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first rogue! And it was useful even in tribal stage. The other ones in the picture are nosirożec and of course- BEAN (known as fasolowiec in Polish)

A Grox character that just kind of popped into my head and doesn't want to leave?

Soooo this is Cyra. Just a standard grox that just happened to lose her ear ( well technically she lost a big chunk of her head but let's not worry about that) and decided to put a charger for her weapon in there.

She's in the same world as alpferds, and actually encountered them on multiple occasions. And of course she absolutely hates them. I mean they're stupid pacifists, what's there to even like about them?

But Cyra is really the best grox to encounter out of them all. She'll at least finish you off quickly and won't torture or brainwash you like most other groxes ( they sometimes take entire spaceships to conduct tests on their crew, especially from newer empires that just joined the space community, and not much is known about them) . This empire is just all around messed up in this universe. But hey, I'm still not 100% done with their lore , something might change.

I'll post something about some other stuff tomorrow. Maybe I'll finally make more digital art of Michał and Trevor. Or maybe something else idk.
