#also Brenna is a MVP
Text
Anyway remember when I said I'd post more in depth Silicon Valley-Succession meta? Well, the time is now.
And honestly, I have to thank @tomwambsmilk for this because she understands Silicon Valley far better than me and we have had multiple conversations about this. I will probably end up making a prettier gif parallels post about this stuff, but this is the base stroke I wanna establish.
But essentially while I have been watching Silicon Valley, it's fascinating to me how some of the specifics are very similar to Succession. Like Brenna mentioned to me, some parallels and arc of certain characters closely resemble that of Succession.
Specifically, I was thinking of Dinesh x Gilfoyle (Dinfoyle) in regards to Tomgreg, and for me, it's about how DG close mirrors TG. Aside from one obvious difference where Tom has an obvious power dynamic over Greg and as a result, Dinesh has the position to retaliate more because Gilfoyle is his equal. There, however I would argue, is a subtle power dynamic that gets established between Dinesh and Gilfoyle in the early days where Gilfoyle is able to far easily able to outmatch Dinesh.
Also similarly, there is almost an instant pairing of both of these couples as soon as the show begins which lasts till the end of the show (for Succession, I obviously talk about the S3 ending) and funnily, none of these couples realise that they are part of a pair until it gets pointed to them by a third party.
("I think you're each other's best friend" vs "... a tom sundae with a greg cherry on top")
It essentially comes down to the fact that TG is borne from almost the same stuff that makes DG, but is worse somehow. They go through the same rounds to trust, betrayal and understanding and it's interesting to go through the curves.
(There's also the individual coding of characters in the ship as a duality of Tomgreg and it's funny to get into but I won't yet)
Another notable similarity is Richard and Kendall. (and Logan). For me, Richard is the more competent version of Kendall (as Brenna put it) where he has a specific vision for the company that gets closed to being bulldozed as he keeps changing over the seasons. In certain points, he turns into Gavin Belson despite vowing to start a company completely different from Hooli. That's extremely similar to the Loganifiction of Kendall. There's a ton of more meta that could be thought off when I'm not incredibly sleep deprived.
So that's it folks, two of my HBO shows are showing themes, symbolisms and motifs and they are interesting as heck.
(also if this does not make sense, I am sorry - I wrote this while being incredibly tired)

can i just take a moment to tell you guys how big of a disaster i am? bc wow !! so there is this really hot guy at my gym and last week i was like.. fuck it girl go talk to him ! so today i was all ready, i hyped myself up and then i saw him and it was like i forgot how hot he was and it was like i went back to middle school and forgot that i'm a grown ass person who can talk to other grown ass people !! and im just kicking myself about it all now bc i'm just truly tragique.
but anyways! i’m sofia (she/her) and this my friends, my loves, my fellow trash kids.. is my disaster child brenna. so hit that heart if you wanna plot or just console me about how much of a chicken i am
( cisfemale ) haven’t seen BRENNA JONSON around in a while. the MAIA COTTON lookalike has been known to be (+) ALLURING & (+) INDEPENDENT, but SHE can also be (-) IMPRUDENT & (-) PRIDEFUL. The 20 year old is a SOPHOMORE majoring in SPORTS THERAPY. I believe they’re living in PEREGRINIS but I popped by earlier and no one answered the door
+ red lipstick & a closet brimming with black, sports bars, snarky responses, rolling eyes, a steaming cup of coffee first thing in the morning, heeled boots & no make up make up.
her mom died when she was really young so she was raised by her dad. he’s the real mvp ok. he struggled a hella lot but honestly tried to do his best.. his nickname for her is peaches for fucks sake ok we stan one dilf
he’s the men’s hockey coach at the university so chances are, you’ve heard her last name around
she’s originally from vermont
she went a bit wild in high school and it put a strain on her relationship with her dad which actually kills her bc the last thing she wanted was to disappoint him
she dated his guy in junior year of HS and he was great and awesome and athlete of the year and all that jazz but he fell a little too hard into the party scene and drugs and then things just went south real fast and it ended up in a disaster (i’ll give u all the dets if u wanna know more) so anyways she’s hella hesitant of relationships now bc her track record kinda sucks
she’s studying to become a sports physical therapist - when she was growing up, she tore her achilles and her physio lady was basically a miracle worker and inspired her to go into the field
red lips ? check ! all black ensemble ? check !
she’s not a serial dater.. more like a serial hook up-er? lol like she’s known to have a lot of flings but nothing ever serious. she’s not about screwing a different person every night so she tends to find someone to hook up with for a few weeks and then move on you know?
she’s hella flirty and fun and feisty
the embodiment of ‘smart ass with a great ass’
she’s not about to take your shit though so if u gonna be dumb b ready to get called tf out
she’s not afraid to be honest. like she’s pretty open about most things but she’s not just gonna spill her past at just anyone’s feet. that’s for people she trusts
okay! basic bitch of plot ideas:
GIRLS !!! everyone needs a tribe. a squad. a badass group of ladies to love and support and throw hands for
roommates! bc YES
brotps she’s always had a lot of guy friends and solid friendships are the best thing. bless
enemies/mutual dislike listen. we can’t all love each other. sometimes u just don't vibe with people
ex hook-up someone she used to have a fling with ?? we can brainstorm how it ended.. maybe they r all cool and friends now or maybe it went bad bc of feelins ?? who knows
current hook up obvious
flirt/roast vibes this might be one of my fave things EVER! like two people who flirt and roast each other in equal measure
classmates anyone she shares classes with. an excellent starting off point for more fun right?

Retired Navy SEAL Dan Cnossen finished the Paralympics in Pyeongchang with six medals, taking home a medal in every individual competition he entered in Nordic skiing.
Cnossen’s final medal came in the men’s sitting middle-distance cross-country race Saturday in which he won silver.
Cnossen made his second Paralympic team after competing in Sochi. He was serving as the platoon commander for SEAL Team One in Afghanistan in September 2009 when he stepped on an IED. As a result of his injuries, Cnossen lost both legs just above the knee.
He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with Valor from the Secretary of the Navy for his service in combat.
Here’s a look at other outstanding performances at the Games:
Nordic skier Oksana Masters took home two gold medals and five medals overall just a few weeks after falling on the ice and injuring her elbow.  A four-time Paralympian who also has competed in rowing and cycling at the Summer Paralympics, Masters was selected as the U.S. flag bearer at the closing ceremony.
In men’s sled hockey, the United States beat Canada for gold with a game-winner in overtime from Declan Farmer. He also scored a late goal with less than a minute in regulation to give the Americans a 1-1  tie and a shot to win it in OT. Farmer, a Princeton student from Florida, was the tournament’s leading scorer with 11 goals and 17 total points. He was named the tournament’s MVP, while teammate Brody Roybal had 10 goals and six assists. It was a record third consecutive gold for the United States in sled hockey.
In snowboarding, Brenna Huckaby swept the two gold medals in her classification, adding the banked slalom gold. A former gymnast from Louisiana, Huckaby made her Paralympic debut in Pyeongchang with her fiance and baby girl among those cheering her on. U.S. snowboarders claimed 13 medals in snowboard-cross and banked slalom, with golds also won by Mike Schultz, Noah Elliott and Mike Minor.
After breaking his back during a training run in Sochi four years ago, Alpine skier Andrew Kurka made a triumphant return to the Games, winning gold in the downhill and silver in Super-G.

Fantasy Gym - Week 2
Team 1:
Actual Total: 197.075
Potential Total: 195.500
MVP: Eastern Michigan girls (Kendall Valentin & Lacey Rubin) who came in with a 9.925 and 9.9 on UB and a 9.85 and 9.875 on BB! Great work ladies!
Problems: Kiana Winston only competed BB & FX, so she was missed. Jennie Laeng who last week rocked a 9.925 UB routine was missing from the Nebraska UB lineups. Madison Cindric mysteriously did not compete on any event after doing AA the last few weeks (if anyone knows anything PLEASE let me know!). Also I clearly put the wrong people in my vault lineup as, that is where I lost 0.2 points from my potential total. I also lost 0.1 on floor but less than a tenth on UB & BB.
Trades: I may make a trade of Ali Marrero from Kent State if I can find a suitable replacement.
Team 2:
Actual Total: 197.250
Potential Total: 197.475
MVP: Paris Phillips put in a solid 9.825 on VT and a big 9.9 on FX this week! She is a backup on my UB and BB rotations too but isn’t in my weekly lineups there.
Problems: Again with Kiana Winston. Also, Brenna underperformed on UB and Nico underperformed on BB (again). Also, Lauren Schmeiss from Sacramento State didn’t compete floor and neither did Grace Williams of Nebraska. Why can’t all the coaches just be like KJ who puts almost identical lineups up every single week lol. Also Brianna Comport from Bridgeport who has been posting 9.8+ on BB & FX every week had a bye, so I’ll be glad for her to be back next week. Also, anyone have any updates on Brianna Brown from Michigan? I didn’t put her in my lineups after she didn’t compete last week but I want to drop her if she isn’t competing the rest of the season (which is sad because I LOVE her UB work).
Trades: If I learn something about Brianna Brown then maybe her. Also Ali Marrero from Kent State as with my Team 1.

Fantasy Gym - Week 3
Team 1:
Actual total: 197.1125
Potential total: 197.2875
How much Chayse Capps fall on beam cost me over her standard 9.9:  .075
How shocked I am Chayse Capps fell when she has never fallen in over 3 season: there aren’t words that can accurately describe such shock (almost the same level of shock applies to Kiana Winston falling on UB, WTF LADIES?!?!)
MVP: Kendall Valentin (Eastern Michigan) pulled in a 9.925 on UB and a 9.875 on BB!
Trades: Probably none I don’t know yet. I’ve decided to hold on to Madison Cindric until her injury (broken toe) heals because she is super talented and I’ll want her scores in a few weeks when she is back.
Team 2:
Actual total: 197.15
Potential total: 197.3125
MVP: Brianna Comport (Bridgeport) pulled in a 9.875 and 9.825 on BB (avg: 9.85) and a 9.875 and 9.9 on FX (avg: 9.8875). She is the only one of my gymnasts who competed twice this week who didn’t fall on EITHER day, so that deserves special props. Also their meets were Friday and Saturday so this was without any days of rest.
Trades: I just don’t know what to do about Brianna Brown. No one has heard anything about her but this is like the third week she hasn’t competed....it’s so bizarre. I may also look at trading Grace Williams from Nebraska because she hasn’t had very consistent beam performances and I didn’t put her in my lineup this week and wouldn’t next week. She goes from a 9.175 to a 9.85 to a 9.3..it’s so inconsistent.
Also even with some lineup changes I managed to guess who was competing what pretty accurately. The only zeros that were in my lineup was Brenna Dowell’s FX (Team 2) and Tyra McKellar’s FX (Team 1). Thankfully Kiana did AA at Alabama’s second meet because otherwise I would have had 3 zeros for her lol.

Fantasy Gym Practice Week
Team 1:
Actual total: 186.6
Potential total: 196.7
What happened? Well I obviously only ended up counting 4 scores on one event (floor) that ended up being totally on accident because I guess I never clicked on Chayse’s floor box so there were only 7 selected for my floor lineups. Claire Hammen and Jessica Howe didn’t end up competing at all, so two more floor zeros, and Krysten Howard only did bars and beam, so that was my third floor zero. I did best on UB, with three 9.9s (Chayse, Nicole Lehrmann, and Kiana Winston), a 9.825 (Kendall Valentin) and a 9.775 (Alex DeMoura). Other than the zero on floor, I did not have to use a score below a 9.7, so that was good.
I had 6 girls on a bye this week.
Trades made:
Claire Hammen (Denver - did not compete for an unknown reason) for Jamie Stone (Ohio State - competed VT at 9.825, BB at 9.75, FX 9.8)
Jessica Howe (California - did not compete for an unknown reason) for Taylor Chan (San Jose State - compted VT at 9.775, BB at 9.575, FX 9.775) - may try to trade back if Jessica ends up competing since her potential is much higher. Taylor just lets me fill a vault spot since I didn’t have 8 girls that even vaulted.
MVP: Kiana Winston and her 9.95 BB routine!
Concern: Kiana may not always do AA but I feel like she needs to be in my lineup every week since if she DOES compete I can’t afford to NOT have her score.
Team 2:
Actual total: 185.975
Potential total: 186.775
What happened? I didn’t have more than 4 girls on my team even COMPETE floor! That was a travesty. UB was the best event at a 49.375, VT at a 49, and BB at 49.2. I was pretty pleased with those scores but FX really killed me here.
I had 7 girls on bye this week.
Trades made:
Catelyn Orel (Nebraska - out for 2017 season with injury) for Paris Phillips (NC State - competed AA for a 39.150 with a solid 9.85 for FX which tied her career high from last season and will obviously help my lacking floor lineup)
Kaitlynn Hedelund (North Carolina - on a bye last week but is listed as questionable for competition) for Jessica Yamzon (Arkansas freshie - compted AA for a 38.925 in her first NCAA meet!)
MVP: Brenna Dowell and her 9.95 VT! (hopefully that floor score comes up if she can stay in bounds lol)
Concern: Kiana may not always do AA but I feel like she needs to be in my lineup every week since if she DOES compete I can’t afford to NOT have her score. Also, what will the Nebraska girls compete?!?!
