well that was the manga! im too sleepy to write some super long thinkpiece abt how manga route 2 reshapes kgprs entire narrative (will definitely do that later tho bc thats the type of person i am), so let me just talk abt my main, non-narrative takeaway from it; basically, the art gets really, really, really rough in the last few volumes, and it seriously affects the emotional atmosphere that certain scenes should have.
which is a shame, and again, not satou mahiro's fault, bc being a manga artist and having monthly deadlines is very very hellish. and despite that how poor satou's health was and how it very clearly affected her art, she was still able to effectively illustrate scenes that relied heavily on visuals, which is very admirable.

^ chp 61 / RED VI, comes to mind, really visually cool chapter even if anatomy is wonky. but the intent comes across, and thats what ultimately matters
essentially, its shame that another big chunk of kagepro's narrative had been greatly hindered by the medium its in. the same way kgpr's narrative struggled to communicate itself in an anime clearly made with an overwhelming amount of crunch, kgpr's narratively similarly didnt communicate itself as well as it could in a manga that was clearly being drawn by an artist way past the point of burnout. it definitely gives me a much deeper appreciation for the novels, which is able to be much more expansive and in-depth with its characterization and writing without needing to be limited by the resources required for visual forms of communication. (thats a pretty deranged way to say it and i swear i can word that better but im sleepy......)
