I miss him so much I tried to turn his essence into a ring!
So maybe I can’t draw or write but what if I made some pretty jewelry inspired by our favorite morally dubious, sapphire-eyed prince?!

the thought and care he has put into methodically plan out this day is nothing short of laughable. the very same day he learned about rhaenyra’s departure to dragonstone, he started calculating how the reencounter would go.
aemond has spent years of his life now imagining his first meeting with his half-sister’s second son after the younger boy took his eye and his sanity with him. he has seen himself patiently waiting for the inevitable family reunion, holding his want for revenge long enough to have lucerys sleeping soundly in his bed and aemond attacking him in the middle of his dreams.
fast and dirty and treacherous, just like lucerys himself acted upon him that night.
sometimes, the ire and resentment that threaten to rot him from the inside are enough for aemond to forget about any meticulous plan and just ride vhagar to dragonstone and burn it to the ground, like the madman lucerys has made of him.
his favourite fantasy, however, doesn’t even revolve around him specifically, no. his most treasured daydream features his father caring for him like the parent he’s supposed to be and not the king who chooses favourites, demanding rhaenyra to handle what is owed to viserys’ second son.
aemond is not stupid, though. he knows the last one of these confabulated possibilities is the most unlike to work for him, for nothing has ever been handed to him freely and effortlessly before. aegon has the name and the position to get him the things he wants, and also the things he doesn’t —but that aemond desperately needs—, and if it had been his older brother, he’s sure there would had been more repercussions for rhaenyra’s bastard. but he’s the second son, the spare, the one who isn’t granted neither love nor justice and just serves the purpose of standing in the shadows until he’s needed.
still, he hopes.
(hoping has never got him far, either.)
aemond knows the corridors and the secret passages of the red keep by heart. he has memorised the names and faces of the guards and their schedules and knows when both servants and royalty are supposed to be in bed. so, it’s easy to imagine lucerys trapped under his power and will if he were ever to come back to the castle. it’s always the first option with aemond, anyways, because who’s he if not a perfectionist —second sons don’t get the chance to be anything but—.
and then the day comes. helaena and aegon get married and lucerys comes back home to attend to the wedding.
“i’m tired, mother. i shall see you in the morrow”, he tells her before departing himself from the festivity, noticing that rhaenyra’s children have already retired.
aemond has mapped out the exact path he’s following, years and years of submerging himself amongst the darkest corners of the keep finally paying off. he’s going to wait for the change of guard, and he knows everyone else will be wasted and high on wine and celebrations, having no intention of paying attention to any children that should be sleeping by now. the dagger he has chosen for this specific moment —he took two years to decide, but ended up electing the same that sliced through his own eye, because it seems that he’s a sentimentalist too— is safely secured under his belt.
he moves behind the tapestry dedicated to visenya that hides the almost invisible opening of the tunnel connected to the room that used to be jacaerys and lucerys’, the one currently inhabited by just the second boy, and only needs to take a swift look around the room to locate lucerys velaryon —strong, bastard, bastard, bastard— by the windowsill.
whatever aemond had planned for this moment dies before it’s even birthed.
the moon shines on lucerys’ alabaster skin, illuminating his face and his doe eyes. he’s looking up toward the west wing of the keep, his cheeks resting atop his hands and his elbows firmly supporting his weight against the wooden rail of the windowsill.
aemond knows what lucerys is contemplating, for his very own chambers are located in that exact wing. it shakes aemond to his core, because lucerys isn’t observing aemond’s territory with fear, keeping himself awake in a kind of a night shift in order to guard his own safety. no. lucerys is looking at aemond’s window, almost in a perfect diagonal line to this very room, with an expression that doesn’t take much for aemond to pinpoint and recognise.
lucerys’ eyes are wide and glassy, and his gaze is absolutely dreamy. he looks like he wants, like he longs, just like aemond does when viserys ignores him or mother and grandfather offer aegon something that aemond has been craving for longer, harder. he’s looking at the tower like a lover in one of the old poems that the maesters made them all learn, sighing and huffing as if his small heart cannot take the distance. like aemond looks at vhagar, or the iron throne from time to time. like aemond looked at viserys when he informed them that rhaenyra and her children were coming home.
lucerys is glowing, there’s no better word for it, and aemond cannot stop looking. he laments his lost eye, and for the first time not because of fury. he wishes he had the full capacity on himself to completely soak in and burn this candid moment that lucerys is unaware he’s providing. he wants to remember how red lucerys’ lips are, and how many little dots complement his nose and cheeks. he wants to remember his sweet sighs, and the wind ruffling his curls.
but more than anything, aemond wants to remember the look on his eyes.
why lucerys would look at anything related to aemond with such longing escapes aemond’s mind, but it matters not. he’s looking at aemond like that, indirectly and secretly, but he’s doing that, and something hot and possessive blooms in his chest, as if he had been branded by scalding iron. he wants lucerys to always look at him like that, to look at aemond’s eye and face with the same need.
lucerys is more of an angel than he’s a human, like a vision materialised on earth to save aemond’s soul. aemond wants to consume him, wants to be saved and damned by that boy.
the knife is heavy in his pocket, and it’s truly laughable how easily he has forgone his thirst for revenge and has replaced it with devotion. his resolve has crumbled, but he has forged his destiny. he knows it, he can feel it settling under his skin like an organism.
he doesn’t leave until lucerys is tucked under his covers and is finally succumbing to a deep slumber. he has been baptised, and he has a new god to worship —didn’t his own mother say that he was prone to obsession? what else could he do when he’s been provided with the representation of faith in flesh and bones?—.
aemond goes to sleep with a new resolution.
he wakes up when the sun is yet to be up, throat raw from screaming, the taste of the rain and the fire and the blood of a chase that was never meant to be heavy on his tongue.

Definitive thoughts on rook's rest post, maybe? I haven't seen many metas about how aemond and helaena must have felt about. That.
oh yes... 'definitive' thoughts maybe not so much, as i'm never good at 'definitive', but i do have thoughts.
i've actually written something in one of my fics about aemond's reaction to rook's rest, which sums up some of my thoughts:
He remembers Aegon after Rook’s Rest. The smell of him, burnt meat and rot. Blood, sharp, cloying. It was the smell of death; the maesters who slaved to save his charred flesh hung bundles of flowers to try to dispel it, but it clung on all the same, sour mixing with sweet. Recalling it brings sharp nausea to his mouth. No-one ever said it — the king may die . To do so would be treason, and Aemond isn’t sure what he would’ve done if one of the maesters told him to his face. After spending nights sat by Aegon’s bed, sword laid across his knees, he was wild enough to fight the Stranger themself if they came for his brother.
as much as it's a pivotal moment for aegon, it's also something of a pivotal moment for aemond. what we know of him is that he doesn't like aegon, but for all his cunty remarks like 'the crown looks better on me', he doesn't usurp him when he has the chance, and at storm's end he directly accuses luke of trying to steal his brother's throne. there's a deep vein of duty and love there, however complex. also, aemond was the one who killed meleys at rook's rest — i think watching aegon burn drove him a little wild. aegon, as the eldest brother, is the thing that has defined aemond's entire life, and it's probably the first time he's had to confront losing him. so: rage and grief enough for there to be nothing left of rhaenys but bones, and likely frustration that he can't just fight the stranger to heal aegon.
for helaena... obviously this is post-b&c, so she isn't mentally well, but i think she probably foresaw rook's rest in some capacity. and as/after it happened she just got this sick sense of certainty, that once again tragedy has struck her family, once again she was given advance warning but it was all for nothing, nothing changed, doom is overtaking them bit by bit and there's nothing she can do to stop it.

@fatherforgivethem has infected me with thoughts of Aegon/Helaena/Aemond and their kids, and I have an idea, and I sorta mentioned it in my last HC post, but I just need it out of my skull for the sake of my well-being
the parents taking the kids to courts/dinners/events.
an agreement that if the kids fuss or ask for them to a certain point, they be brought to either of them, no matter what they're doing, if they're in front of a lord or nobleman or one of the god forsaken Seven. they will always come before the court, who can blame them for wanting some sort of out.
Jaehaera being brought to Aegon during one the few court meetings his mother actually got him to attend, meaning he can't leave, even for his daughter, or his head will end up on a spike. so instead she insists she will be quiet, taking his sniffling baby girl into his arm, assuring the nobles that he's listening and that she won't spill any of their secrets, cooing at her a little, while walking off s bit to the side. he rocks her till she's mostly asleep before returning to his place at the table, not sitting down, but rocking back and forth in front of his seat. he's kissing her forehead and stroking a finger over her little nose and chubby cheeks, smoothing her hair. he's so clearly infatuated with her and it catches everyone's attention. her presence also seems to make him act a bit wiser, like a proper prince, so he's loving on his baby while quipping into the meeting every now and then (he's got to be a good example for his girl)
no one can necessarily get mad, Jaehaera is adorable and they had all hoped and prayed fatherhood would settle the prince, which now they fear it's settled him too much.
Aemond stopping his sword training to lay out a blanket for the twins to sit in the grass and watch, goading Criston into putting on a show for them, imitating whatever story they come up with. letting them take up wood swords eventually and starting to incorporate them into his training.
Helaena having her lunch with Mother and a lady in waiting interrupted by her son being brought to her. he's huffy and tired, most likely woken from his nap by dreams he didn't understand, wanting nothing more than to just cuddle up with his mum. he's sitting against he glumly, clearly wanting his mum all to himself, to go up to her chambers and cuddle while she sings him the lullaby she has since he was born. but between his grandmother and the lady in waiting coaxing him to giggle, his mum trying to cheer him up, be comes to enjoy himself a bit.
The family having to go to some dinner for some noble and having kids on their hips. they don't like letting people take them from them, especially not little Maelor, so they're in guard all night. having to play nice when Lords and Ladies would reach out a finger to play with the babies, acting as if they don't want to snap at them.
Aegon carrying Maelor around the event while Helaena and Aemond keep the twins together.
trying to get them to sit nice at the dinner itself but finding themselves caring more about messing around with them than keeping up appearances
the 3 standing together, babes in their arms during some court meeting in the throne room, looking very accidental renaissance.
having matching outfits. Aemond and Aegon looking especially nice in the lighter colors for once.
they're just too cute and infecting every waking moment I have
(repost cause I accidentally posted it privately at first and tumble sorta ate it.. I don't know what happened, it was weird)

A future fic carcass I'll write when I write (after I finish 9 ungoing fics)
King Viserys dies at the wedding celebration of his daughter, Crown Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
No one else does.
I am a firm believer Otto and Viserys are the rot on the face of the House of the Dragon and without these two everything would be fine-ish.
Unfortunately, we need Vissy T for his kids to be born, so Viserys dies soon after Aemond is conceived. Sorry, Daeron, not this time.
Joffrey doesn't die because he doesn't manage to provoke Criston before the king dies.
Rhaenyra overrules his father's decision and marries Harwin Strong.
Their son Jacaerys Targaryen is the heir to the throne, Lucerys Targaryen is the heir to Harrenhal.
Daemon marries Laena and lives at Dragonstone (Rhaenyra grants him that), their firstborn is the heir of Driftmark.
Laenor joins the Queensguard and is sent to Dragonstone to protect Prince Daemon (ha) and his future heirs.
Criston Cole becomes the Commander of City Watch while still retaining his white cloak (what? He did it in canon, can do it here).
Rhaenyra removes Tyland Lannister as the master of ships and appoints Corlys Velaryon (back).
When Baela and Rhaena are born, it is decided to betroth Prince Aegon and Lady Baela, making him future lord-consort of Driftmark (and successfully removing him out of succession of the iron throne).
When Jace is born, his and Helaena's betrothal is announced.
Baelon is born without an issue and the royal family meets at the celebration on Dragonstone, where Aemond claims Cannibal and loses an eye in the process.
(Kinslayer, everyone. It fits).
Afterwards Luke is sent as a ward to Harrenhal with his father. A huge ass scene ensures there Luke clings to Aemond and refuses to go.
Aegon makes a greasy comment and gets punched.
Both Aegon and Baela are sent as wards to Driftmark.
Lucerys still leaves.
Harrenhal doesn't burn bc even if Larys kills Harwin and Luke, there's still Lyonel and Joffrey in the equation. Lyonel keeps serving Queen Rhaenyra as her Hand.
Years later the royal family meets at the wedding celebration of Baela and Aegon, where Luke and Aemond behave very much like Rhaenyra and Daemon at Rhaenyra's not happened wedding.
Rhaenyra and Alicent clutch at their pearls, Rhaenyra suggests father died because of seeing something like that.
Daemon asks if she implies they killed Viserys, then asks where is Baelon.
Laena replies Baelon is playing knights with Joffrey.
Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong (no) have three more children, Aegon, Viserys and Visenya, all silver-haired like their mother (her uncle).
Laena is fine with it, they have a poly. Laena doesn't have more children because Baelon's birth was a ghasty one.
Baelon claims the Grey Ghost.
Otto is never called back to the capital because (suprise!) Rhaenyra didn't rush to kill her 3 y.o brother or the other one who was born after Viserys' death. Instead she marries Aegon off so he's no threat.
Aemond eventually joins the Queensguard and is appointed to the future lord of Harenhall.
Lucerys refuses to marry and appoints his brother Viserys as his heir, who marries Visenya. They have a very good life in Harrenhal.
The reason Luke skips over Joffrey is because Joffrey is always at the sea (with Baelon), and Aegon the Younger is bethrothed to Baela and Aegon the Elder' firstborn, Laena.
Everyone lives happily ever after, Otto gets to be the head of the house Hightower after he successfully plots against his own kin, since his blood is secured on the throne, if in unconventional for him way.
He once tried to manipulate Aegon, but was cut off sharply by Rhaenys and Corlys, who kind of adopted the boy as theirs.
Aegon enjoys wandering about Essos very much, he, of course, whores around, but he and Baela have an agreement. One of Baela's children is born from Alyn of Hull, but no one is any wiser, since everyone just thinks the child looks like her.
Jacaerys and Helaena have three kids, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and then Maelor.
Jaehaera is oldest and so is the heir.
Oh, and Rhaena is happily married to Corwyn Cobray. They have a daughter, Rhaenys.
#hotd#hotd au#queen rhaenyra#hotd fanfic#fuck viserys#i will write it one day bc i have such a vivid image of the scenes such as: viserys' death. rhaenyra overruling her father's decision#explaining it and trying to mediate it so Corlys wouldn't start another war#'i thought it was in the tradition for the king or queen to marry their hand's child'#the greens' FACES at that#rhaenyra gathering Laenor and his entire fam and suggesting queensguard#“but then he won't be able to wed a woman. have a family-”#-exactly *Rhaenyra and Laenor lock gases. she nods. he nods.* -i accept#Aemond just fucking WANDERING AWAY TO CLAIM THE SCARIEST ASS DRAGON THAT IS THERE#the total panic then Laenor finds him and brings back with EYE LESS. (he almost got to the castle but fainted mid way)#corlys trying to push for baelon as the heir and laena&rhaenys being: “NO”#the unspoken kinship in the house of whoring around. Harwin being like “i support my wife's wrongs” and loving egg vis and visenya as his#NO ONE KNOWING THEY'RE NOT HIS. LIKE LEGIT THEY COULD BE HIS OR HARWIN'S. EVEN RHARNYRA DOESN'T KNOW#aegon living his best life as a sailor and explorer#Aemond looking at Laenor and being like “i can do that too”#laenor living THE BEST LIFE by his sis and her husband/his friend's side. and Joffrey is ALIVE#criston eventually getting over himself and accepting that Rhaenyra indeed couldn't run away with him#like imagine if they run away and then vissy t died#whoops i guess#also i just realized i accidentally made it so that Harrenhal is eventually ruled not by Strongs but Daemon's kids#lmao i guess#They are Targaryens (tm) your honor#the amount of dragons they're about to have...like harrenhal has 4 just with luke aemond and visx2#Dragonstone has 3 even if all kids scatter about#cobrays have 2 (Rhaena's and her daughters)#driftmark has at least 3 and then Laena is born and its 4

Aemond has been wearing the same outfit since the lord of the tides even in season 2 trailer same outfit I’m glad he brushes his hair but does he not know how to take off his clothes?
Is he afraid to be naked?
Maybe he’s a never nude like the guy from arrested development
In my opinion???? I think he must be REALLY fucking musty because I never realised he’s been wearing the same clothing since ep 8 until now 😳

What about pious, mama's boy Aemond who won't have sex with Alys until he marries her? And Alys — who is a bastard herself and suffered for it, who had several stillborns outside of marriage — finds his commitment and diligence surprisingly attractive?
hm..i like this idea..i definitely don’t think aemond would immediately sleep with alys. i think before it gets to that point they would have to develop a meaningful connection. we know aemond doesn’t seek out sexual pleasure (he doesn’t seem interested in it and we know he has SA trauma), nor does he behave lustfully. though, ultimately, i don’t think it matters all that much if he marries her before or after they’re intimate (i feel it’s pretty significant for him to choose to marry her on its own). what’s important to me is that the writers don’t rush things or completely change the way they’ve characterized him in the show so far by making him aggressive or motivated by lust in his relationship with alys.
i think what would make alys fall for him is that he’d be the first person that actually sees her as more than a bastard servant whose importance is solely based on what she can offer, he’d see her as an actual person with value and one worthy of respect. i also think they’d find comfort in each other having both felt like loners within their family, having bad reputations (from an accident and from rumors), and finding that unconditional love that they always craved deep down.
honestly, the reason i assumed they got married after they’re intimate is because in the book she refers to their son as a bastard and then later says he’s trueborn, which signified to me that they got married some time after he got her back from sabitha frey. though, the writers have deviated from the book in some aspects/sequence of events so your idea is a possibility.

I hateeee how asoiaf has just become the "incest books lol" to so many people. what a dumb and reductive way to look at a series that has so much more like. of all the things you could say are the central themes of asoiaf incest in not one of them lmao.(yes obviously it's present, but not nearly as much as people make it out to be) And this isn't about people who havent read it and are just judging from the outside bc who gives a shit about them. But I see this mostly from fans and its just??? what the fuck did you read/watch lmao. I mean even hotd which centers around thee incest family isnt about the incest and you'd have to have negative media literacy to think it is.
Also it's fucking insane how being uncomfortable with incest shipping gets you ridiculed in this fandom lmao. like I'm not here to be the morality police ship whatever the fuck you want idc. but dont be surprised when it makes people uncomfortable??? "ummm if you dont like incest why are you reading the incest books/watching the incest show??? weirdo" I dont fucking know man maybe all the other 348593 interesting things it's about. just a guess. And these are the same people who go on about "well just bc you write something fucked up doest mean you agree with it" which. yes! true!! then why do you uncritically endorse targ incest blood purity 😭 do you think maybe that's one of the things grrm wrote that he doesnt agree with? of course not, hotd is a cautionary tale about the dangers of not doing incest and what happens when you let your pure valyrian blood be contaminated by gross peasant genes from outside your family ^_^ obviously ^_^ and anyone who's not into your incest ships is a bigot <3 "but it's normal in their world!1!11!!!" no its not lol. and even if it was. marrying children is also normal in their world what's your point

Do you have any lucemond fics Planned for when LSTS is over or is close to finishing?
oh so many!! for the lsts-verse i'll probably have a compilation of sorts added to the series in a few chapters or so, of deleted scenes and flashbacks that aren't making it in
and maybe i'll actually post some of my luke-gets-warded-to-kings-landing, slowburn/fix it, enemies to childhood friends to lovers au that was being plotted long before lsts ever was, but has so many moving parts i've been hesitant to share lol :,) someday <3
honestly i have so many ideas it'll be hard to pick what to do next, i may start posting snippets here early just so it can all be archived somewhere even if they don't get full fics

obvs i’m still a finnish music rpf blog but i do have the asoiaf brainrot and have been writing little fics i never shared since like 2015 so
#currently rhaenyra having a girl who was her firstborn and lived despite visenya targ eating her namesakes from beyond the grave is my thin#atm#but also this visenya has so much wrong with her#got ‘the mark of the dragon’ red scaly birthmark in a world that celebrates female beauty. dragon dreams. blind in one eye#is sad and weepy until after she moves to dragonstone and finds og visenya’s witchcraft rooms#becomes super valyrian devout (probably involves self harm) and emotionless#engaged to aemond#then decides to do an aerea and go to valyria but she needs a mighty dragon so she has the insane idea of claiming cannibal#if it works she goes to valyria and gets infected with fireworms so gets cannibal to dump her in the first icy lake she finds to freeze the#then spends like six months in skagos before going home to marry#anyway aemond is the normal one in that marriage and it’s so funny because he’s so far from normal#also she’s an utter wire mother fight me on that#i speak!#but she loves helaena and so adores jaehaera. maybe gets her marriage to aegon 3 annulled and takes her to dragonstone to wed her to her so#and weds jaeharea to her son (who is obviously called maegor)#also after the greens lose aemond winds up becoming the embodiment of ‘yes honey’ to her in the hopes their marriage will save his life#she doesn’t give a shit about him tho she is just weirdly devotional to the valyrian gods and her son and his wife#basically she’s unhinged and no one is doing it like her and we love that for her#also shes definitely a manic alcoholic

green kids redesign 2/4!
while i loved phia saban’s performance in hotd, i wish the showrunners hadn’t ignored the fact that helaena is fat in the books. i kept her crown-braid hairstyle, but i was going for a more book-inspired design. her dress is based off one from bbc musketeers which, while it’s dreadful as a 1640s dress, incorporates the greens’ colour and a naturey twist.
(you can see aemond here. these designs are also influenced by/are the reference points i’m using for my series, a yellow dress, which is an au in which the greens manage to win the dance, at a cost)

Aemond killing Luke =/= what happened during the night of Blood & Cheese. that was not equal* revenge, the two events can never and will never be equal under any circumstance nor attempts at justification.
I said what I said, and I believe it with my whole chest.
*quick edit on wording, that was my bad, definitely made my point look real stupid... this is why you double-check your rants, especially when they're controversial

how do you think Alicent, Otto and Criston would react to the mess that is helaegond? imo, Otto would support it, Criston would internally cringe but otherwise pretend it doesn’t exist and Alicent would be kept in the dark bc Criston would pull every string to hide it from her. I have this theory that Alicent is actually against incest despite her insistence on marrying her daughter to her son. She did it because strategically speaking, it was the best option (to keep Helaena safe and keep the dragons within the family) but it disgusted her in a moral sense. Criston knows this so, as her most devout protector, he shields her from this knowledge the best he can.
I feel like if Helaegond would be happening in the show with the character's acting as close to canon as possible, nobody would support it.
I think both Criston and Alicent would see it as morally wrong because not only is it Incest (which they may overlook because Targaryens are Targaryens and what kinda hypocrisy would it be to tell one brother to love his sister but the other that it's wrong) but it would also make Helaena a cheater and as we all know, a man may be allowed to sleep out of wedlock but a woman? Not a chance.
Like, even if it was crystal clear that Aegon is in the know and encourages the relationship between Aemond and Helaena/is a participant, it would still somehow be read as a moral failing on Helaena's part.
Also all her children would be seen as potential bastards and unlike Rhaenyra, she doesn't have a father who would care about her well-being and who would cover for her.
Additionally, Aemond and Aegon having a relationship? In Grrm's world? Where gay people cannot exist? Since they can't produce heirs, they can't marry, if they aren't married, it's still infidelity, even worse because it's queer.
Like, even if you put a woman inbetween, I don't think queer relationships are that well perceived within Westeros. Probably not even within the Targaryen dynasty and they do the nasty with their siblings.
If Aegon were King, maybe he could bend the law to take Aemond as a second wife but even then, Aemond and Helaena would both still have to be dutiful to their husband, so no sex between the two of them.
So in my opinion, the three of them would be playing a very dangerous game and nobody could ever know (so of course somebody like Larys knows and goats it over the Queen's head simply because he can, while Alicent tries her best not to see what's right in front of her).
I don't know what Otto would think of it personally, but it's a good way to ensure Aemond does everything necessary to keep his family safe - especially if some of Helaegon's kids are his.
