yk once I got over the euphoria of realising that overwatch had a singaporean character and actually took a look at her the more laughable it gets.

like, you have dr mina liao who would totally be an extremely cool playable character and has a really big lore significance, and then you immediately kill her and replace her with a fucking robot. what. (also from my limited knowledge of ow lore, this is the second time the introduce a woc scientist only to have an omnic be playable instead)

also echo is just,,, bad representation,, her singlish is the worst thing I have ever heard (it has no rhythm and is pronounced horribly) and there are like a total of. 3 cultural references found in her skins and sprays (durian, marina and that spray where she's holding a vanda miss joaquin)

I think the interaction that she has with mei is probably the best like,, character wise and culturally

echo: could you describe the taste of chicken rice?

mei: oh, it's very tender and tasty but... subtle?

echo: thank you. it was dr liao's favourite dish.

mei: I'll have some and explain it better next time!

it's cute and mentions our national dish as well as expanding on some character stuff for echo. that's all the good I have to say on the cultural aspects (also dr liao is so correct chicken rice is delicious)

oh yeah finding out they got a british actor to voice a singaporean character felt like getting kicked in the stomach
