FRUITS BASKET S2 EPISODE 3 RECAP

I’m sorry if I get a little too personal in this one... erm... Yuki and Aya’s relationship definitely brings up a lot of things with me and my own relationship to my older sisters and... yeah? Good art isn’t good unless you can have a deep emotional reaction to it, right?...

Lol, when you’re reliving a traumatic moment and your over zealous older sibling bursts into your private time... ahaaaaa.... quarantine is the worst.... Of course, I know that Aya means well but I’m really feeling for Yuki right now haha

- How tight was Aya holding onto Yuki’s shirt for it to rip like that? Hahah or rather how old was Yuki’s top lol

- But because I make a metaphor out of everything, Yuki always has this buttoned up pretence he shows to everyone and Aya has this way of getting under Yuki’s skin and breaking the perfect outer layer that Yuki has created. Maybe the accidental tearing of his shirt was just a visual metaphor for their relationship? But then, Aya mending Yuki’s shirt and then going too far by stitching a redesign pretty much shows so much about how Aya presently treats Yuki hahaha

Fruits Basket is pretty much top tier anime for me, personally. BUT, I really wish they delved a bit more into gender presentation/exploration cos it always seems to go on the edge and sometimes it’s more so on the audience to read between the lines but it never seemed to go fully and blatantly in. And this story goes into so many different issues, it’s oddly surprising that it didn’t. I guess I’d have to blame the year that this manga came out and the general public not being as aware or educated about gender presentation. But, I find Yuki’s disposition or more accurately his confusion to men being feminine pretty interesting... especially if you link it to his experience with Akito (those who know, know).

Wow... another moment that hit close to home. Ok, so I’m lucky to have had a pretty good relationship growing up with my parents. But, the relationship I have with my older sisters (for the most part it’s one of them but in general both)? Not great. Hasn’t been great for a while. Like flashbacks to childhood and it still wasn’t great. And there’s been many times where I’ve reached out and they’ve never had my back... or even made it worse. And this moment?

Literally pierced right through me.

I love the small debate Yuki and Aya have at the end of this though when it comes to who should try and make an effort more. And yes, they should both be trying. Although, I would argue that Aya should make more of the effort as he is the older sibling and he is the one who basically cast the first stone to create the ripple that is their relationship. But, I also agree that Yuki should make an effort to be more understanding of Aya and also try and understand his ways of making up for his past actions as they are genuine (even if they are overzealous lol) I love that the characters acknowledged that be they extremely different, they should come to an understanding of each other and try and build a healthy relationship.

I can only hope the same happens for me whenever my sisters decide to grow up...

“Nathan! Welcome, thanks for joining us. Make yourself comfortable,” Camilo said, as the werewolf walked into the room. He’d set up several chairs in a circle and some snacks and water on a table nearby. Marcita had come in and Yori too, whom Nathan was surprised to see. “Yori?” Nathan blinked as he sat down in a chair. “You’re pregnant too?” “Mmhm,” the spirit replied smiling. “Only for about a week. The doctor told me about this group thing and I thought it sounded like fun.” “Cool… At least I’ll know two people here now…” Nathan said. “And congrats. You must be excited.” Yori just nodded and folded his hands in his lap.

“Is this everyone?” Nathan asked. “No, we’re still waiting on two more,” Camilo said. “But they should be here soon. In the meantime, you haven’t met my sister yet, have you? This is Marcita.” Marcita waved from her seat beside Camilo’s. She looked like she was ready to pop. “Yes, you’re seeing double.” “Yeah, you’re… Geez, that’s trippy,” Nathan said trying not to stare. “I’m Nathan. Camilo and Korsgaard are my case workers.” Marcita smiled. “It’s nice to meet you. Thanks for coming to my brother’s group. I just think it’s such a great idea, having this for you guys.” “So you’re pregnant at the same time as each other?” Nathan questioned. “Yes, but this is pretty normal for me,” Marcita said. “I’m actually a surrogate professionally.” “Oh, cool.” Camilo put a hand on his twin’s shoulder. “I figured Marcita would be great for the group since she has that experience. He seemed to ease in a bit when he realised how few people four was. “Hello... I'm Dari.” “Mon amour, let's go have a seat, hm?” Fay took him over to the circle and let go of Dari's hand to put two chairs together. “Are we late?” “No, no. We were just starting to introduce each other,” Camilo said. “So, uh, Nathan and Yori both teach the kindergarten years at APID E.” “Oh, that's right,” Fay said. “Dari, now isn't this perfect?” He turned to the teachers. “Our daughter will be starting school soon. So I believe you're just the right people for us to know. And, Yori we've met countless times through Lino but it's always a pleasure.” “Thanks. I like you too,” Yori said smiling. “And your husband is so cute, like you always say.” Dari blushed and punched Fay in the arm. Nathan leaned in to shake their hands. “It's nice to meet you. It's comforting to know there are other guys who have gone through similar experiences as what I'm dealing with now.” “I'm glad we can help,” Fay said. “Dari insisted on coming for just that reason. He wants to help out anyone who might be struggling in their pregnancy since he knows so much about it.” Dari crinkled his nose but didn’t say anything. “Okay, so we're all here now,” Camilo said, smiling. “And we've greeted each other, but maybe we could go around the room, say your name again and maybe...how far along you are? And like, something interesting about yourself.” “Sounds good,” Fay said. “I can start. I am Fay Demers. I am not currently pregnant but I have been through four pregnancies, the last of which was for the birth of our third child, Otter.” “Thanks Fay,” Camilo said. “But, um, I can see Nathan's a little confused so could you elaborate on the fourth pregnancy topic?” “Sure. So as a merperson, my species numbers are dwindling, so it's our tradition to reproduce as soon as we're able which is eased by the notion that a caregiver will take care of them for us. I had three pregnancies and sired five children back home before coming to the surface. When I met Dari though, we started our own family, and I got pregnant for our third child.” “Oh okay, that makes more sense...” Nathan said. “So mermen can get pregnant like that?” “Yes, though our fertility window is a lot smaller than a female,” Fay said. “Otter was my final pregnancy. I'm not fit to bear any more.” “Oh. Okay... That's cool to know,” Nathan said, suddenly transfixed on the merman. Fay noticed the way he was looking at him and chuckled. “Nathan, Camilo put out these snacks for us. Why don't you have some juice?” “Juice?” Nathan looked down at the table in front of him and found the bottles of apple and orange juice and grabbed an orange juice to drink. His mind cleared quickly after that. Fay leaned over and placed a hand on Camilo's shoulder. “Good call on these refreshments.” “Well, I was your assistant,” Camilo said. “Yes. Such a smart one.” Fay leaned back and took Dari's hand again. “Love, why don't you introduce yourself next?” Dari blinked a bit and squeezed Fay's hand tightly. “Okay... Um, I'm Dari Demers... i started out as an nct fan because around 3 yrs ago, one of my friends back in college showed me their mv for the 7th sense (still so good if u havent seen it) and i was intrigued bc it was so diff from what i thought kpop sounded like!! my hs friends had shown me svt videos (like pretty u) but i was like eh idk if this is for me…and look at me now hahaha. besides nct and skz, i also like txt, svt, day6, p1h and then there are a bunch of groups whose stuff i like and will listen to but i dont rly know anything about them yet! how about you, do you mostly follow skz and sf9? it does take a lot for me to get into a group fully so for the longest time i was just into nct bc i was like 23 men is enough for me 😂 i think now i like nct and skz the most, i like the other groups too but it takes a lot to reach top tier for me lol idk how to explain it but i feel like theres also an emotional aspect to it LOL like im not sure why exactly skz hit for me more than txt for example (though i also love txt) but it just happened 😂

it’s funny because back in 2020 a friend sent me some skz stuff and i was like oh gods menu and back door are dope but i was like idk if the rest of their stuff is my style hahahahaha and now i love that shit 🤣 i think nct noise music changed my music taste (for the better hehe)

THATS SO FUN u got to see skz live 🥺🥺 was it amazing?? im also in the US and im waiting for the day they come back on tour so i can see them (and lino 🥲) with my own eyeballs hahah. i went to kcon la this summer and technically saw skz live but i didnt know who they were at the time 😭 have u seen any other kpop groups? kcon la was actually my first kpop concert since i got into kpop back in 2020 and i’ve been to svt and nct127 concerts since which were both amazing 🫶 it must be so tiring but also exhilarating to perform and have ppl sing along to ur songs especially when it’s in an entirely diff language for the audience members

Those are some good groups to listen to!!! I totally get you on having a lot of groups that you listen to but don't follow. Yes at this point skz and SF9 are my main groups! I used to also be really into BTS, but with how little new music they've been putting out I kinda lost some interest, but I still love their music a lot! I'm the same, it takes so much for me to become fully invested in a group!!! For years it was just BTS and SF9, so I was kinda surprised when I got into skz as much as I did, but I'm really glad cause I've met so many cool people because of skz and I really love their music and the impact they've had on my life!!! Sometimes it just be that way, it's so hard to predict what your brain and heart will latch onto. 😔

Yes it was so cool!!! I loved it so much they're so amazing on stage!!! During their songs that didn't have choreo Chan was bopping around the stage and it was so so cute. 🥰 And in general they're such good performers!!! Oh my gosh that means you got to see Yeah live I'm so jealous 😭😭😭 That's so cool that you've gotten to go to concerts!!! I've been into kpop since 2016 and I've only been to two concerts, I don't get much kpop within driving distance. 🥲
