Taylor Swift deciding to feed the period drama girlies AGAIN with Timeless was so kind of her. It also hurt but it was very kind.

Ok here’s why I think Midnight Rain applies to Taylor Lautner
- “wanted my own name?” yeah i bet you would when you’re both named Taylor
- “broke his heart cuz he was nice” hello big Back to December vibes
- Taylor Lautner does seem like sunshine you gotta admit
- “he stayed the same i was chasing that fame” i think there is a reason his career kind of stalled after twilight was over, and other than not being that good at acting it was probably because he was not actually that interested in the fame
- “i guess sometimes we all get some kind of HAUNTED” hello didn’t she write Haunted inspired by New Moon?
- “i guess sometimes we all get what we wanted” - the whole song she’s saying he wanted a bride and what is Taylor Lautner now? engaged to be married

Nick Grimshaw on kindness, queerness and life lessons as a grown-up.
Tumblr media
Gay Times Honours Issue 2023
Friendly media mogul Nick Grimshaw, aka Grimmy, has done it all. He’s introduced his parents to Lady Gaga and, recently, even had tea with Harry Styles. Now, however, the former Radio 1 DJ is getting acquainted with something else – growing up.
Getting older, no doubt, is terrifying. Carefree late nights with mates at sticky, flooded gigs are suddenly swapped for questions revolving around major milestones: partners, career, and, of course, kids. Close friends are no longer egging you on to ditch work and hangout or checking in to see if you’ve actually drank water. Instead, you’re trying to squeeze in a meetup between deadlines, dates and an ever-growing to-do list of life admin. And Grimmy is no different. Booze-driven afterparties have morphed into nourishing Sunday roast dinners with Mesh, his fiancé. Girl dinner Quaver packets have matured to conversations – on his glitzy new foodie podcast Dish co-hosted by Michelin-star chef Angela Hartnett – with Miriam Margolyes on how she likes her mashed potatoes.
Having the big four-zero on the radar prompted a new perspective for the presenter. What was once maligned (“I felt like growing older was the end of something or deeply depressing,” Grimshaw admits) has been, mostly, embraced. It’s less coming of age but, rather, coming to age. Still, new digits doesn’t need to mean the fun is over. In fact, just last night, Grimshaw partied late with celebs Jake Shears, Amanda Lepore, Jodie Harsh, and Mutya Buena in Soho. Here in Holborn, however, things are much more mild. Sure, there’s some tasteful framed nude art to our right and Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ crackling over studio speakers but nothing beats a good old-fashioned launch party, or a karaoke b-day bash taking place later this evening in central London.
Tumblr media
Nursing a non-alcoholic beer, Grimshaw scoots across a black leather couch, arriving fresh from a photoshoot, something he describes as his “Naomi Campbell moment”. Comfortably clothed in a light-wash denim shirt and distressed jeans, he kicks off the conversation as if reuniting with an old friend. “I've never taken stock before. I'd never sat down and thought about myself, ever, and I don't think people do,” he says. Since his early twenties, Grimshaw’s image has been inextricably tied to two things: big names and his infamous towering quiff haircut. At some point, he acknowledges, you will have heard his quick-fire Mancunian comedy soundtracking your early mornings. Whether he was making jokes with Taylor Swift or having the early hours crashed by Charli XCX, the presenter became a known face at the Beeb. In his autobiographical book, Soft Lad, Grimshaw reminisces on the pull the small screen had on him as a young child. Armed with a love for glamour and theatrics, the events he saw on the telly called to a younger Grimshaw who dreamed of moving out of Manchester to take on London.
Onboarding, in 2012, at Radio 1 to cover The Breakfast Show was something the podcaster remembers clearly; “There was a lot of pressure”. His days of spinning songs and connecting with artists over music became more than a vocation, but a specialism. While he does admit, sheepishly, that there were days his hangover ran over into work hours, he’s since taken time to reassess his habits and lifestyle. “When I was 23 I was getting absolutely wasted and doing it like a Geordie Shore night out,” he says. Now, Grimshaw is more conscious of being selectively sober in certain environments. “It can be really hard to go out and connect with people who are drunk and you're not drinking. But, sometimes, you have the best nights ever. I went out last night and went to a really fun party up until 1.30 am and had really good chats with loads of people.” He’s taking stock of the bigger moments around him, particularly ones that bring him closer to friends and family – “It's about learning. It's about growth,” he says earnestly.
At 39, Grimshaw’s longevity has something to do with his candour and bonhomie. The most common compliment doled out about the presenter is his warmth. As a child, he recalls, the label “soft lad” was stuck to him, presenting his sensitivity as something to be ashamed of. But, years later, it’s become something – like his favourite Maison Margiela knit sweaters – that he wears openly. “At school, I always felt on edge that I was going to get beaten up or laughed at. When you've had that, you learn empathy and you think about how people might feel or what they're going through,” he explains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Realisng he was gay, as a child, filled Grimshaw with dread as he feared what it would mean. With limited queer culture references growing up (just Elton John and Lily Savage) his feelings were fully realised, aged 11, when he developed a crush on a poster of England footballer David Beckham pinned up on his bedroom wall. “You know what’s funny, not that I’m doing Miriam Margolyes press, but I saw her yesterday. I'd never met her and I went into her dressing room. Before I could say hello, she pointed and exclaimed: ‘You’re gay!’ and continued with ‘So, my dear, nice to meet you.’ As I got into bed last night, I thought about how that would’ve killed me if I was a teenager, but it was a really lovely bonding moment.”
Though being a presenter and DJ took up most of Grimshaw’s early adolescent years, his move to writing has allowed him the space to trawl through his past years without expectation. From reassessing his comfort with queerness to realising the strength found in the LGBTQIA+ community outside of his town in Greater Manchester, Grimshaw is grateful for the relationships he’s built with those around him. “I learn constantly from the queer community. It’s that notion of being yourself and leaning into yourself which can be hard to do if you're queer, especially if you've had that knocked out of you when you're a kid,” he says. “The community are essential in helping everyone, and me, support one another.”
Soft Lad and Dish capture different versions of Grimshaw; the quirky characteristics of a presenter that couldn’t surface in a music hotbed. In his new roles, the presenter-meets-podcaster chats to hot-shot talent while unravelling stories centred around food, famous friends and frenzied stories. His book is an homage to his parents (“I realised how important they were shaping me – I love them contractually, but also really love them) and to his English and Irish roots. Bookended between stories of queer curiosity and his loathing for football, tales of community and camaraderie at Radio 1 surface. “I loved it when we had a great guest from the queer community. I had great times with Sam Smith, they would be a riot and would really gossip with us when the records were on and tell us stories that we couldn't have on the radio. Troye Sivan was a great time as well,” he recalls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another memorable moment was his run-in with an early-era Lady Gaga, in Notting Hill, before she became Mother Monster as we now know her. “I did my first interview with Gaga years ago, for the telly, and it was when she was brand new. ‘Just Dance’ had just come out in America and she was making a bra out of gaffer tape on a dressing room floor,” he says, laughing. “I brought mum and dad along because they were in town so they met her right at the beginning of her career. Ever since then, whenever she'd come onto the radio show, she’d ask about my mum and dad.”
Grimshaw’s stories of famous crossovers are, understandably, endless – even if they’re ones he’s told plenty of times before. Up until recently, he’s remained embroiled in an ecosystem of music promoting a “product” but, now, he feels like his new projects allow for authentic conversations about people and their interests. His mantra, nowadays, is this: “Living in the full, truest form of yourself, without fear and judgement.” For a young Grimshaw, this unbridled queer joy took the form of “glamorous” drag shows where he dressed up as Cher for his family. Today, it’s about cooking in a kitchen packed with too many guests (and remembering to drink water). Turning 40, at one point, felt like a frightening due date. Now it’s a milestone Grimshaw is ready to take on.

The thing that surprised me when I first got into the fandom side of Shameless is that Fiona and Debbie will very rarely receive a nuanced reception for their actions (thinking about the things they do that are wrong and thinking about intent) whereas Lip's actions will always be handwaved away, even when he's 100% in the wrong. I still love Lip but it's led to me sometimes eye rolling at some of his scenes. Really the one's where he's screaming at someone about how wrong they are.
yeah… i love shameless and i love the fandom but they are both incredibly misogynistic, unfortunately.
*cue the man by taylor swift*
lip’s actions will always be defended because people think that he’s cool. debbie and fiona’s actions won’t, because people think that they’re bitches.
and there are so many pieces of evidence that the reason people (men) love lip and hate debbie and fiona is because of gender.
debbie or fiona could (and have) do the same fucked up thing that lip did and people react so differently.
for example:
lip trying to convince karen to keep her baby, wanting desperately to parent the child despite the fact that fiona warns him it’s a shitty decision because they can’t afford it, and for that, he’s stepping up. he’s mature. he’s brave.
debbie lies about being on birth control to purposefully have a kid and refuses to abort it despite fiona’s pleas because they can’t afford it, and she actually raises the kid all on her own, for that, she’s dumb. she’s a brat. she’s a bitch.
both of them were wrong. lip was wrong for telling karen what to do with her body and risking everything for his family for a child he wasn’t even 100% was his. debbie was wrong for lying to have a baby at fifteen (she was not wrong for not aborting franny, though. a lot of people think that she was, but i’m a firm believer in my body my choice, so it’s her absolute right to not abort her child).
debbie drops franny because of sleep deprivation and she’s suddenly the worst. fiona’s a drunk and suddenly she’s a bad character and a shitty person (she is a shitty person, but they all are). lip dropped his kid and is an alcoholic but he’s given the benefit of the doubt.
lip treats the women in his life like shit. probably because of monica. debbie and fiona get screamed at by him for honest mistakes (mostly fiona), mandy, amanda, sierra, and tami all got treated like shit by him when they were dating (tami doesn’t put up with it as much, though). and i’m not even necessarily saying he’s a misogynist, but he generally treats men better than women. and people are a little too okay with that.
all of lip’s actions are defended by how hard he had it, fiona and debbie’s aren’t. people will get really deep with lip, and explain how his every move is okay because his childhood was shitty. debbie and fiona are so complex also, and they literally had the same parents as lip, but people don’t like to get as deep and explain their every move with them (i do tho😉). every shameless character is complex. even the characters that aren’t as big. they all are complex and they have layers and if you look into them you can find a lot. people will do that with characters like lip, but with debbie and fiona they just kind of shrug it off. personally i find debbie much more interesting than lip but that’s just me.
if you’re going to defend lip because of how he was raised, you should defend all of the siblings. they literally grew up together.
and i love lip. i’m not trying to say i hate him, but if people are going to shit on fiona and debbie, then people should shit on lip, too.
i’ve said this before, but all of the characters resemble a role. they all have trauma and they all have different trauma responses. but just because they deal with it differently doesn’t mean that they aren’t traumatized.
i’m getting off topic as always lol.
but i wish that lip would get held accountable more. and i wish that people would go easier on fiona and debbie.
the show is called shameless. all of the characters are massive pieces of shit. to call any character except for like, liam, a good person is stupid because that’s missing the entire point. just because you like a character doesn’t mean that they’re an angel. one of my favorite characters is debbie and she’s a piece of shit. like she sucks ass but i also love her.
i’m unhappy with this post i might just redo it😭

𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 💌:
!! First of all I don’t claim to own any layouts that I use on my page, full credit to others who have used similar layouts, I just use layouts that I’ve used on my Wattpad !!
I’m super excited for all the Michael lovers to read this, I’m not sure if I’ll leave this as a one shot or if I’ll make a fanfic of it it so please give me some feedback in the comments as I’d really appreciate if you all could let me know your thoughts, also requests are open in the ‘ask me anything’ box! ~Jess
𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 📝:
in which, the new record shop catches Michael’s eye or was it the cute worker there?
𝘔𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘭’𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘷:
I’m so tired of listening to Amanda bullshitting day in, day out.
I’ve taken a trip into town to help focus my mind on something that isn’t stressful.
I look in all the shop windows, to see if anything interests me but there’s nothing in particular in this street.
I continue walking around, I hear someone behind me and I quickly look around to see someone wearing a black hoodie and a balaclava, that was enough for me to start walking faster in case it was any of the cunts that were after the family.
I turn into a street and the person in the black hoodie is still behind me, I notice a record shop so I speed walk over to it.
I open the door of the shop and the bell rings at the door, behind the counter was a girl who was typing on her laptop.
She looks up at me, “Hi! Is there anything
 I can help you with?”
“I’m just having a look around”, I reply a/ I start to look through the shelves,
“Okay, if you need anything let me know”,
I hear her say,
“Thanks” flicking through the shelves I see everything from Queen to Taylor Swift.
I look back at her to see her opening a box which I assumed also had vinyls into them,  ‘ she’s so pretty’ I think to myself.
After a while, I pick out a few albums and I walk up to the counter
“Ooh you’ve some great choices here”
“Yeah I’m happy with them, I’ve never seen your shop here before, is it new?”
“Yeah it is, I wanted my job to be something that I’m passionate about
and I love music”
I watch as she scans the records,
with a bright smile on her face.
“You seem really lovely, what’s your name?”, I ask her and she looks up at me.
“Thank you so much! I’m Chiara, what’s yours?”
“I’m Michael”, was all I could say, I’m stunned by her beauty.
“Nice to meet you Michael!”
“It’s nice to meet you too”
Chiara handed me the bag with my records, “The receipt is in your bag,
I hope to see you back here sometime”
“Oh yeah I’ll be back for sure!”
I walk out into the street and I’m hit with the coldness as it was warm in the record shop, somehow I feel like I will return to see Chiara sooner rather than later.

Over the next two days, we’ll be getting into all that and more with hours of presentations and deep-dive analyses. This is set to be a smallish, grassroots-y gathering—only 25 in-person campers are enrolled plus a dozen or so volunteers running the show. Meanwhile, about 300 remote Gaylors have signed up for streaming access to the learning sessions, building on the success of a virtual Gaylor summit that happened last year.
As a Gaylor myself, I’d be here even if Cosmo hadn’t sent me. I introduce myself to campers as we craft cute name tags for ourselves in the lobby of the Craigville Retreat Center. I meet Morgan, 30, who came here from conservative small-town Wisconsin, where she’s been living with her parents due to some unspecified tumult in her life. “I am desperate to be around gay people,” she tells me. When she heard about Camp Gaylore, “I jumped at the opportunity to come here and feel a sense of community.”
Paris, 25, a Boston-based attendee who grew up in Arizona, agrees. “With everything that’s happening legislatively right now, it’s really important to be able to find spaces where you’re able to be with like-minded individuals and feel safe and comfortable expressing yourself.”
Nevada, 25, a newcomer to the Gaylor realm, tells me they were able to attend only thanks to a scholarship the camp offered to defray the $350 tuition cost. “I really thought this was a dreamland that was completely out of reach for me,” they say. Just being here, in congress with others, feels like some kind of miracle.
So maybe I should revise: This weekend is about decoding Taylor Swift songs...but only sort of.
I didn’t travel far to get here, but I’ve come a long way. Four summers ago, I left my marriage to a straight man, right around the time Taylor released Lover. I had a passing familiarity with her oeuvre but didn’t consider myself much of a fan. I was crashing with friends—a lesbian couple—while searching for a new home and striving to create a more openly queer life for myself. With its pastel cover and pro-LGBTQ+ anthem “You Need to Calm Down,” Lover got a ton of airplay in that two-bedroom apartment. And the breakup songs—“Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “I Forgot That You Existed”—certainly spoke to me. But given everything I was going through, Taylor’s music felt like little more than a fluffy distraction.
Jump cut to the following July, when Taylor surprise-released folklore. Every lesbian I knew seemed weirdly excited for this album. With my divorce freshly finalized, I now had the bandwidth to dig in. I discovered Gaylor theories on TikTok and plunged into Taylor’s discography with an eye toward gay themes. For the first time, I listened—really listened—to 2017’s Reputation, an album marketed as Taylor not caring about her press coverage but could just as easily be about a secret queer romance powerful enough to blow up her life. This notion, of hiding in plain sight while inhabiting a straight-presenting persona, resonates deeply for me in queer readings of Taylor’s work.
Here at Camp Gaylore (alternately known as GayloreFest), the analysis is served up with mock-academic gravitas. “We all love to cosplay that we’re professors in this field of Gaylor education,” explains Madyson, 23, a camp co-organizer who hails from New York. To wit, the workshop lineup includes sessions like: “Darling, Everything’s on Fire”: An Exploration of The Hunger Games Through Taylor Swift’s Discography; Unpacking Parasocial Relationships: A Conversation in Favor of Imagination & Community; Friends of Fletcher: Themes in the Music and Visuals of Sapphic Singers & Songwriters; and “Now I’m Your Daisy”: Reimagining The Great Gatsby as Gilded Sapphic Fantasy.
What’s happening here is really nothing new—Gaylors are performing the kind of close reading that happens in pretty much every English lit seminar. For campers like Amanda, 30, a longtime Swiftie who discovered Gaylor theories during the pandemic while awakening to her own queerness, this interpretative exercise is more meaningful than the objective facts of Taylor’s sexuality. “I’m not over here trying to convert people like, ‘Hey, Taylor is gay, and it’s really important to me that you believe that,’” Amanda says. “It’s more about Taylor being this incredible writer who intertwines all these incredible things into her lyrics.”
“We are not the first gaggle of gays to go book a conference center and hang out with each other for a weekend just to talk and gab,” Madyson says. “It just so happens that we all met because Taylor Swift put out some bangin’-ass albums.”
“I don’t even care if she comes out,” Madyson adds. “I actually would prefer she didn’t because I think it’s more fun this way.”
After I check into my single room—a rustic BYO-bed-sheets situation—I return to the common area and settle in for the afternoon’s presentations. Remote presenters will be streaming from all over. A few campers here will be presenting too—streaming from a dedicated quiet room elsewhere on the property. In the common space, all sessions will be projected onto a wall.
And here I have to admit that I end up…not paying much attention to the material. In the best possible way, neither do many of the other campers. I watch as they focus on making friendship bracelets, add artistic flourishes to Gaylor-themed coloring pages, and paint each other’s nails. Chatty groups check in on solo folks: “Are you good by yourself? Would you like to come over here with us?” Sometimes a comfy silence envelops the room. A few campers even nap on couches, the presentation audio forming a sort of pleasant background drone.
This dynamic is striking in its chillness—different from most camps and retreats, where schedules are packed with structured group activities. Kae, a 26-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, much prefers the format here. Although Gaylor TikTok was helpful in “expediting” her awareness of her own bisexuality, she finds the noise of social media kind of bad for her mental health. Camp Gaylore feels like the 3D version of a friendly Gaylor group chat she joined on WhatsApp a few months ago, she says. “It’s nice, having a much smaller source of information and also a place where you can just be yourself and be accepted.”
Presentation topics aside, Taylor’s aura at camp is surprisingly scarce. The aesthetic is one of nostalgic/analog summer whimsy. Think: String lights and wildflowers. Salt air and disco balls. Strawberries and rainbow balloons. An activity table set up by camp staffers includes a deck of botanical oracle cards, the social-bonding game We’re Not Really Strangers, and a handful of book selections ranging from Emily Dickinson poems to contemporary works by queer authors like adrienne maree brown.
It’s almost as though the organizers plucked a handful of nice humans off the internet and closed tab on literally everything else, a welcome break. Gaylorism in general is Very Online—born on Tumblr, increasingly huge on TikTok. Along with Madyson, camp co-organizer Katie, 30, recently wrapped a popular Gaylor podcast called The Archers, the duo’s contribution to a booming cottage industry of queer-minded Swiftie content. (Madyson has already launched another pod.) Tess, 30, a London-based camp co-organizer, is a prolific Gaylor creator too. This camp is the group’s way of passing the mic to others to invite their perspectives, to “recognize the brilliance and beauty of our community,” as Tess puts it. There’s even been talk of starting a literary-style magazine that goes beyond Taylor and into the open waters of, well, gay lore. That’s why the camp name has an “e” at the end—an indicator of deeper possibilities.
Gaylor subculture has now gotten big enough to attract coverage from major media outlets, some of it less than favorable—a Salon article last fall compared Gaylors to QAnon. Many face harassment from a hostile cohort of Swifties known as Hetlors, notorious for a queerphobic insistence that Taylor is straight. Bullying from Hetlors has driven some Gaylors to go dark and wipe their social accounts, which explains why most here at Camp Gaylore have asked that Cosmo publish their first names only.
Taylor herself is outspoken in her LGBTQ+ advocacy—granted, as more of an ally. “I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of,” she told Vogue in 2019. But as many Gaylors like to point out, that’s not quite the same as Taylor declaring she’s 100 percent straight and cisgender either. For now, the details of her identity remain anyone’s guess.
“In a cisheteronormative world, we are more likely to assume people to be cis and straight until told otherwise than to assume they’re trans or queer,” says Melissa A. Fabello, PhD, a sex and relationships educator. Her group coaching session this weekend, titled “The Bisexuality Crisis,” will address this very subject.
Camp Gaylore’s idyllic seaside haven is blessedly Hetlor-free. Madyson, who sometimes struggles to socialize in groups, tells me they feel “soothed” mingling on our private stretch of beach. This weekend has always been more about reinforcing the Gaylorverse than dissecting Taylor’s suspected queerness. “It is very much for people to meet and see each other physically and be like, This community is just as real offline as it is online,” Madyson says. In the sand, they spell out GAYLORE in dozens of tiny seashells.
We head to dinner in the large dining hall for a taco buffet—a communal setup that amuses Nevada. “This is so sweet, like the positive parts of going inpatient at the psych ward,” they joke. Then an earnest elaboration: “It’s just nice that other people understand what I’m thinking. I don’t have to explain a million things. I don’t have to be like, Okay, I guess I’ll let you ignore my pronouns. It’s a very good space.”
Afterward, we gather around an outdoor firepit for s’mores and impromptu performances. One camper breaks out an acoustic guitar and shares songs she wrote during a period of homelessness. Her voice is husky and powerful—a howl of survival. A few campers pass around a bong. Inside jokes are hatched. “As cliché as it sounds, I do feel like I’ve known these people forever,” says Lee, 33, a camper from California who credits Gaylor theories with fueling her lesbian awakening seven years ago. For her, this night is “cathartic.”
In the 10 o’clock hour, everyone heads back inside to watch the livestream of the Eras Tour. This has been a ritual for many of us since Taylor hit the road in March. Lots of campers have been tracking the surprise acoustic songs she performs each night—one or two per show, with no repeats from the pre-Midnights archive unless she messes up.
Tonight, Taylor is in Pittsburgh. One member of the Gaylor community—not at camp with us but someone who’s friends with a few campers—has been publicly campaigning for Taylor to play “ME!” at this stop, a track many Gaylors love (see: the big gay energy of its music video). Taylor playing “ME!” would be everything, a definitive acknowledgement of us.
As the livestream plays, campers string together bead bracelets with Gaylor references—the letters “SITBTTEBM” (“She is the best thing that’s ever been mine”), the phrase “WIDE EYED GAYS” (an intentional misspelling of the “All Too Well” lyric). Then the first surprise song begins: It’s “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” off Fearless. Everyone groans. The second song is a miss too: “The Last Time,” from Red. So much for “ME!”
Everyone is super bummed. A few campers even cry a little bit. But there’s beauty in the heartbreak too—something profound and unifying in our shared disappointment. “Even if Taylor were to go away and never do another thing, I feel like we still have this,” Amanda tells me later. “And that’s really cool.”
The big social event of the weekend, on the second and final night, is prom. Given that it’s being held in the retreat’s tabernacle building, camp staffers have printed out a color picture of Jesus, along with big letters that spell out “LYRICS TOO?”—a cheeky nod to the fact that we’re in a house of worship but mostly a deep-cut Gaylor reference (to something once uttered by Taylor’s pal and collaborator Jack Antonoff). A tattooed camp staffer DJs from a heavily stickered laptop, next to a whirling party light that scatters rainbow beams throughout the space.
Many of our prom looks are encoded with Taylor allusions. One camper wears a tiered, ruffled frock in pastel hues, à la Taylor’s Lover era. Another, channeling the Reputation album art, dons a matching corset and skirt in newsprint-pattern fabric. Still another is turned out in the crochet crop tank Taylor wore while promoting Midnights, its colors a near-perfect match for the lesbian pride flag tacked to one wall.
“Cruel Summer”—a Gaylor fave, theoretically chronicling Taylor’s rumored relationship with supermodel Karlie Kloss—blasts from the speakers. The dance floor fills up. We scream-sing the lines about sneaking in through the garden gate, about the shape of a lover’s body being new. As the song reaches its bridge, our collective joy turns incandescent.
“It felt like 70,000 of us in the room,” Lee marvels the next day as campers pack up to leave. “This was the most magical weekend of my summer—and I’ve been to the Eras Tour twice.”

I need more music to listen, so unleash your reccomendations
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh dear I never get to talk about music enough so pardon me if I explode all over you
(Links are to songs that are both faves and good places for a newcomer to start.)
Taylor Swift - Yeah yeah she's a household name but no kidding, she has 10 albums spanning several genres and I can guarantee you that she has at least some songs that you will permanently add to your rotation. Google around for a good place to start and dive in (...or just ask me because I will gladly help you out).
Taemin - He's been known as 'the Michael Jackson of kpop' for years now, but what's wild is that he started at Michael and has since grown into a dancer and performer all his own. The only kpop artist I fully stan. His singles never. ever. miss.
Delta Rae - Incredible folk/country/Americana band from the state I live in with male and female vocalists. They are criminally underrated because they were liberal country artists before that was even remotely possible. Seen them live twice, met them twice, they are the most genuine people and outstanding artists.
Amanda Palmer - Originated as The Dresden Dolls, a duo that invented the 'punk cabaret' indie subgenre, and has been a solo artist for like 15 years at this point? Intense piano, intense lyrics, intense everything (the linked song is the anthem for girls with daddy issues). Objectively the most personal lyrics I've ever heard. Voice may take a second to adjust to. Not made for mainstream and doesn't want to be. One of the most important artists to me, personally.
Marianas Trench - Pop/punk perfection (but also simply genre chameleons) with a musical mastermind at its core. One of the best vocalists. Most albums end with an opus arrangement of the songs that came before and it's life changing.
Pink - People don't realize how powerful her vocals are and how incredible her lyricism can be. A pop icon. This bitch raised me, forever grateful.
Halsey - If all you know is Without Me and Closer, you haven't heard Halsey. Every album is outstanding but hopeless fountain kingdom doesn't have a single misplaced sound. It's pretty freakish actually.
Chvrches - Sheer and utter synthpop perfection, every single song. The one I linked is one of my favorite songs of all time, period.
MUNA - Queer girls making queer indie pop. Great lyrics, immaculate vibes. Recently opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, and well deserved.
The Midnight - 80s/90s synth like you can't even believe. Saxophone for days.
Imogen Heap - A genius and pop legend. Her greatest song was sampled in something god awful and got meme-d to death, I don't wanna talk about it. If a pop artist does breathy vocals, 95% chance they're doing it because of Imogen. She sang me happy birthday. Haven't been alive since.
Rina Sawayama - THIS BITCH. Falls under pop but never met a genre she couldn't master. Stayed in the game into her late twenties (which is geriatric by pop standards), when she finally blew up a bit. A variety of sounds, some of them strange, but all of them brilliant in one way or another (even if you don't personally vibe with it).
Troye Sivan - Twink icon whose first two albums were as gay as they were pop brilliance. I don't care much for his newest work, but you might.
Alice Merton - She's the girl with that Roots song from a few years back. Two albums now, both genius. Unique voice, varied sound but with a distinct Florence oomph to it.
Ava Max - UN. DER. RATE. D. Classic, anthemic pop. Vocals for DAYS. Music so infectious you have it on loop for days. So much more than Sweet but Psycho.
Kesha - I prefer recent Kesha to her classic dance pop madness, personally. She grew into an amazing artist who can blend her weird ass dance flavor with her more mature sounds in a way that doesn't really seem possible.
Bishop Briggs - Nobody has a voice like this. A sort pop/alternative vibe that can be anthemic as easily as it can be dark.
The Chicks - Icons for a reason. Their most recent album, written by the main lyricist after leaving her husband of 20 years for cheating on her left right and sideways, is one of the best break up albums of all time. Period.
The Civil Wars - They only lasted long enough to make two albums, but both are flawless. Nobody will ever harmonize quite like them. Folk/country in the most *beautiful* way possible.
Evanescence - 2000s rock with with a stunning female writer and vocalist whose melodies are simply beyond compare when we're talking about their stuff from 2003-2006. Goth, dramatic, hard hitting, cathartic.
Freya Ridings - Adele but make it a touch more contemporary. Gorgeous deep voice, lots of ballads but her up tempo stuff is just as good.
Billie Eilish - If you haven't heard her first album yet or her early EPs, you need to. Nobody that young should have that much of a grasp of music and her place in it.
Foxes - Underrated pop queen! I have yet to hear a bad song from her, but her latest album is quintessential synthpop mastery.
Jukebox the Ghost - Piano pop/rock. It's actually too much fun to listen to them, tbh.
Kelly Clarkson - Listen, her latest album follows directly after The Chicks' on the string of ultimate divorce albums we've gotten from pop icons lately. I've loved Kelly forever, but in bits and pieces. Her latest album is her strongest project to date, easily.
Labrinth - I do not comprehend what this genius does with music. Electronic, experimental, metaphorical, personal, just something else. Did the music for Euphoria, but his first solo album was an experience and a half.
Lorde - Everybody tells you to listen to Melodrama because you should.
Maisie Peters - Everybody calls everybody else 'the next Taylor Swift,' and they're wrong. It's this girl.
Marina and the Diamonds - SUCH a unique voice, lyrics that are way too smart for mainstream pop.
Patrick Wolfe - A deep-voiced violinist who released a pop album in 2011 that I still listen to because I'm a sucker for pop laced with classical instruments and it's just that good.
Owen Pallett - A higher-toned violinist with more of an indie approach, coming up with concepts and melodies that would go well with an A24 film.
Emilie Autumn - Violin-fueled industrial/pop/metal, often with Victorian leanings. Visceral lyrics on mental illness, depression, bipolar, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, sometimes with a satirical bent or through a historical lens. Voice might take a second to get used to, it's unique and she does unique things with it (including "ugly" sounds on purpose) but once it clicks it clicks hard. Opheliac and Fight Like A Girl are good starting places.
The Veronicas - Underrated (yet oddly influential?) pop icon twins from the early 2000s to now. Killer voices, KILLER pop.

Introduction
Hello and welcome! I am Rae, from @imaginechb! This is a PJO RP account for the OC I got my name from. Here's some background information on her, please enjoy!
~
Full name: Renae Daphne Gold
Nicknames: Rae, Daughter of Apollo, Sunshine, Katniss, Lieutenant Counselor of Cabin Seven, Goldilocks, Funshine Bear
Pronouns: she/her
Cabin: Seven (Apollo)
Birthday: June 19
Fatal flaw: Hubris. Her talents can lead to her being pretty proud, and sometimes that can be fatal
Powers: Light travel (like shadow travel but with sunlight instead, you can find it in the Apollo cabin wiki!!), visions (not prophecies or dreams, they're brief and come in the day, usually accompanied by a splitting headache), and the standard Apollo cabin vitakinesis (healing patients by singing hymns to her father)
Quirks from powers: Her light travel isn't always precise, so sometimes she ends up in places she shouldn't. She has yet to perfect it. It also takes a lot of energy. Her visions are painful and cause her splitting headaches, and they also come out of nowhere, absolutely no telling when. Sometimes, when she's really upset, she spreads sickness to those around her. Once in a fight with Malcolm Pace, she caused everyone in a fifty foot radius to catch the flu.
Weapon(s): Her bow and a celestial bronze dagger that she keeps either in her sock (quests) or on her belt (training or battle)
Friends: Annabeth Chase, the Stolls, Clovis, Dylan Carter (OC), Gabriel Marsh (OC), Easton James (OC), Katy Gerard (OC), Katie Gardner
Enemies: Amanda Knight (OC), Drew Tanaka, Kronos, Gaea, Malcolm Pace
Significant other(s): Malcolm Pace (formerly), Dylan Carter (OC)(formerly), Connor Stoll
Family: Isabella Gold (mother, deceased), Apollo (father), Will Solace (half-brother), Austin Lake (half-brother), Lee Fletcher (half brother, deceased), Michael Yew (half-brother, deceased), Kayla Knowles (half-sister), Gracie (half-sister), Yan (half-sibling)
Hobbies/Talents: singing, playing guitar, tarot, volleyball, making bracelets
Fun facts: she enjoys Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, pretty crystals and sweet iced tea. Her favorite color is sage green. Travis Stoll is the one who gave her the nickname Katniss, after she almost took him out with her bow when she was eleven. She is 5'10, and always wears a white bandana in her hair along with her camp shirt, jeans, and white boots.

the discord thing is so funny because like the people who are attacking him and alexa online aren't constantly shit talking on discord as well but i guess it's fine when they do it.
like why do people act so much better than others, they did this shit with amanda when she had one of her breakdowns and people were so judgemental and disgusting.
People are going to have their stupid discord dramas, but it's really a shame that folks have decided the greatest villain they need to devote their energies to is Drake Bell. It happens all the time. People can't actually "cancel" celebrities or politicians with real power or influence, so they find the most vulnerable lower tier (and I mean no disrespect, but he's not Trump or Taylor Swift level famous) public figure to absolutely tear down instead. It's not going to stop, so at this point I just hope that Drake is able to distance himself from the online BS and that the general public is able to see through what is going on and focus on his story of healing.

If the Slytherin quartet were immersed in Muggle culture. What things would each one like? Type music, literature, games, clothes?
As i'm asian and have limited knowledge on the british muggle culture, i'll answer it as best as i can😅
Rabastan
-plain polo shirts. Sensible pants. Expensive watches and sunglasses
-he would read paradise lost and Dante's divine comedy and find the humor in them.
-he would think muggle music is cool, but wouldn't like anything particular. in modern au he'd probably mention Imagine Dragons if you ask about his type of music, he's that basic.
Regulus
-he will love overshirt, jackets, dark (mostly black) coats.
-in modern au will cry while watching the lion king.
-He would, of course, be interested in reading anything from Arthur Conan Doyle. He would like Dostoevsky's books if someone introduced them to him.
- reggie and music. Guys, i don't think you understand, but reg's childhood music is just the kind that walburga likes: Tchaikovsky's Valse sentimentale. The freaking Mozart's Requiem. I'm not familiar with 70s songs, but he most likely will like songs with deep lyrics and i don't know.. intense songs really, because he's wired that way. In modern au he probably would have a love and hate relationship with arctic monkey's do i wanna know
Barty
-he would have two moods in clothing: popular rock band tshirts or cartoon tshirt. Leather jacket is also a favorite.
-in modern au, he'd watch netflix in maddy's profile and mess up her algorithm (intentionally, mind you. Because Maddy would only watch movies and series based on Bethany and Amanda's reccomondations and they're all boring. He wanted to help!)
-music like AC/DC, led zeppelin. Honestly just any epic song to play in the background while he's being awesome.
- dinosaurs are dragons. This conspiracy would be the only time he agrees with regulus.
- He probably would prefer something light like the LOTR and narnia. Fantasy books.
Evan
- turtleneck everything. Expensive everything. He's a brand baby.
- evan was robbed Taylor Swift in his time. He also listens to classical music, brahms mostly.
- doesn't like to read at all.
- in modern au would probably like superheroes themed movies.
That was it lol. If someone wants to educate me in british culture or just direct me to somewhere so i can learn about it, i'll appreciate it very much. For the greater good, guys.

OK this is my theory. Harry basically refusing to claim her during the interview really pissed her off. And that’s why she was in New York. She needed to do some damage control. The articles and what people were saying on Twitter went to kind and she was clowned. I think she expected Harry to say something about the relationship anything and the fact that he completely works on her and refused to talk about it was fishy. They have been “together“ for a year and a half and he refuses to even admit to people that they fell in love on set. So she left as soon as she could to get to New York to show that she was there because she didn’t want people to continue talking. I also think that this showed her desperation and what that showed me is that she knows that this is coming to an end soon. She has gone to far deep so there is no turning back for her. We all know that she lost perfect and we all know that don’t worry darling it’s going to tank. We also know that this movie is being reworked again apparently. My theory is that the stand will be over sometime during tour and they’re going to use her being a “mother“ and their busy schedules as the excuse. And the fact that people are still making fun of her is something that’s pissing her off. The fact that no one‘s taking this relationship seriously is another thing that’s really pissing her off. With this coming to an end she doesn’t know what to do anymore. She put everything on the line Jason, her kids, her career and it’s all coming to bite her in the ass because she’s never gonna get Jason back, she’s going to lose custody of her kids, and she lost a job not to mention She is aware of the fact I don’t worry darling isn’t going to do well. So the only thing that she can do is continue to attach yourself to Harry and suck the stunt for what’s its worth because it’s ending soon. The reason the circumstances are what they are is because they chose the wrong person to do the stand with. Harry and Olivia isn’t a thing that people especially Harry’s Fanbase really cared about. Here in Florence that would’ve been good at Harry and Gemma that would’ve been great. But the circumstances were Olivia was the only person that could have done this because she was the only “single“ person to do so. Olivia someone who has been in the industry for 20 years and she has never done anything special. You look at the actress is in her age group like Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and etc. Those those are girls who are around the same age as her who have been extremely successful in their careers. Olivia had to move to being a director because she wasn’t getting acting roles and became a Director so she can write herself into her movies so she would get acting roles. Olivia was it someone that was on Harry’s fan bases radar. She was a Bella celebrity hoping that being attached to Harry would give her some form of relevancy. But what she forgot to mention is Harry dates young attractive girls. Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner, Camille Rowe. They are all young stars who were either on the rise during a relationship with hairy or were already well-known and sit tight. Olivia is a 38 year-old mother of two Who looks like she’s 47 who’s forehead takes up more than half of her face and wasn’t someone who was ever particularly attractive. She isn’t someone that the public cared about. She was always known for being with Jesus Vegas someone that the general public really cared about and when she cheated on Jason the general public turned on her. So she has Harrys Fanbase who really doesn’t give a fuck about her majority of his families that doesn’t care for her and the general public doesn’t like her I think that she cheated on Jason. And now with all of this bullshit going on about Harry refusing to admit the relationship her she looks like a fool. So the only reasonable explanation was to fly to New York to do some damage control and prove that even if he refuses a claim her she’s till there. Olivias panicking because she knows the end is coming
I LOVE YOU!

The Social, Orlando, FL, 6/18/23
Before the show I ran into Brian on the street and asked him what the new song (which had been dubbed Tom’s New Favorite Song at last night’s show) was actually called. He said it’s called ‘Boyfriend in a Coma’ and was actually written about 19 years ago but had only recently been arranged as a Dresden Dolls song. It’s based on her then-boyfriend Brendan suddenly collapsing during a load-out after a show, developing Guillain–Barré syndrome, and going into a coma for like 6 months, during which time Amanda hardly left his bedside. You can hear a demo of it here. It will always be Tom’s New Favorite Song to me.
When my nephew was 12 or 13 years old he googled Amanda Palmer to find out why his uncle kept jetting around all over the place to see her. Afterwards, due to the number of pictures that came up of Amanda in various stages of undress, he asked, “Is she a porn star?”
When I told Amanda this story she inscribed a copy of ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’ for him: “To Dylan - I am not a porn star. No really. Love, -Amanda.” I gave him the book for his 18th birthday.
He’s now 26, and he lives in Orlando, so I brought him to the show. When I planted him in the front row against the stage I said, “Just so you understand: there are thousands of people all over the world who would kill to be standing where you are right now.” At the time I’m sure there was some eye rolling, but by the end of the evening I think he understood.
Unfortunately, guest bassist Tilley Komorny had come down with COVID in the past 24 hours, so we were not able to fight for our right (to party!). Despite this the band torched through another stellar set, with only minimal property damage.
Annotated Set List:
Good Day (featuring Brian on guitar to start)
Sex Changes
Gravity
Backstabber - Due to a “band miscommunication” they actually started playing different songs. I kinda think they shoulda just gone with it, but they restarted and both played Backstabber.
Modern Moonlight - Once again Brian led the crowd in the backing-vocal part before diving into the song.
My Alcoholic Friends
There was a pause in the set to introduce the band, tape down the piano pedal, and, of course, say GAY!
Rock and Roll Part 2 (aka The Hey Song - Gary Glitter cover) - Brief excerpt with the shout of “Hey!” replaced with “GAY!”
“If you’re looking for a gay band, look no further!”
Boyfriend in a Coma - By way of introduction Amanda said, “I’ve been sitting here for the last few nights thinking ‘I wouldn’t want to break up with me.’ Just warning you: I’m like the goth Taylor Swift. If you go out with me, and we break up in a bad way, you’re fucked. You’re SO fucked! This song is not quite really like that, but it lives in that dimension.”
Merch commercial
Welcome to the Internet (Bo Burnham cover)
Bad Habit
Missed Me
Amsterdam (Jacques Brel cover) - During her rampage up and down the bar tonight Amanda actually broke one of the lighting fixtures. “We broke that light, which means we’re gonna have to pay for that light. Buy more merch!”
Delilah (featuring Veronica Swift)
After taking a huge swig of wine straight from the bottle, Amanda said, “The truth is I stopped being as much of a lush when I had a child cause it just didn’t work. I don’t know if anybody has ever tried to have a small child and be hungover, but it’s fucking impossible.”
Whakanewha (pronounced Fuckin-A-Fa)
Mrs. O
Twenty Years Ago, Part 2 - Another impromptu composition about a song about climate denialism being more true now than when it was written 20 years ago. Conclusion: That’s fucked up.
They then welcomed to the stage Father Nathan Monk, who told the story of why he left the priesthood. Bottom line: The conservative (read: ignorant, bigoted, and, frankly, unchristian) dictates of his church were incompatible with his progressive world view.
Mandy Goes to Med School
Coin-Operated Boy - At the start of the song instead of singing the lyrics Amanda just sang, “Gay, gaygaygaygaygay” to the tune. Then at the end she changed the line to “Gay and to the point.”
Half Jack
——
War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover)
Girl Anachronism - At this point, at the end of the third night in a row, I was exhausted and could barely stand. In a fit of wishful thinking, I actually thought they were going to close with “Sing,” and I would have a nice, calm denouement - I even took out my earplugs. Instead, I got a face full of Girl A. I managed to power through … and then collapsed on the stage.

Shopping Trip
This morning I went shopping at Maurices with my friends Katie and Amanda, twin sisters who I met at work in 2012. Katie still works there and lives around here, but Amanda left and moved to Virginia a few years later, so she was home this week for Christmas. We love to check the Maurices website all the time and send each other screenshots of cute items in our group text. I got to the store before they did, so I waited in the car and vibed with Taylor Swift until they pulled up alongside me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hadn't seen them since July and I hadn't been to Maurices since October, so it was nice shopping there together. I had seen a pink shirt on the website that I wanted to try on, so I found it and they had one in my size. I also picked out two other tops to try on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This oatmeal colored shirt with the lace detail along the neckline was very pretty. But as you can see, it was a little baggy around the midsection and they didn't have a smaller size. They are already sold out on the website, so I couldn't order it. And I have a similar shirt that I just wore yesterday, so I was okay with leaving this one behind.
Tumblr media
The pink shirt was a bit brighter in person than I thought it was going to be, but it fit me well and the fabric was soft. Katie and Amanda thought the color looked good on me and so did the sales associate, but I wasn't so sure. When I had my colors done years ago, the lady told me I was an autumn but when I had them done again last year, a different lady told me I was a winter. I think I can do some colors from both seasons. This is a winter pink, so I thought it was too bright for me. But I decided to get it anyway because I don't have anything else this color in my wardrobe, and it will be nice to wear it in the spring and on chilly days in the summer. I get tired of wearing the same deep autumn colors (that's where my username comes from) all year round, so I've started to branch out for the spring and summer.
Tumblr media
The third shirt I tried on had puffy shoulders and pleated sleeves. I really liked the color and the texture, but the style just isn't me. If the shoulders had been smooth and it was just a regular sweater, I definitely would have gotten it. I have a hard time finding that particular shade of purple and I have a necklace that would have looked good with it, but I just don't see myself wearing it.
This is what I wore to the store (I got that shirt there in September), and I just noticed how wrinkly my shirt was because I must have had it crumpled up in the fitting room. LOL
Tumblr media
I also got some undies, but I won't post pictures of those. LOL. And I got this pair of socks:
Tumblr media
I also ordered this pair of red and pink socks to wear for Valentine's Day because they didn't have them in the store yet, and you get free shipping if you place an order right there in person:
Tumblr media
So, that's what I did today and I'd call it a successful shopping trip! 👚🧦🛍️

Jess can you please recommend some music I might like as a swift*e expat? I'm trying to find new things! thank you!
not expats 😂😭 i welcome you, and yes, i love offering music recs! 💖
i've mentioned her often at this point, but lizzy mcalpine!!! give me a minute and five seconds flat are both fantastic and she has such a lovely voice (both in her singing and her writing). gabrielle aplin! particularly english rain and dear happy, but i adore her generally. sasha alex sloan is great and she gets those sad girl vibes. ingrid andress. ingrid michaelson. rae morris. rosi golan. mindy gledhill. cider sky. echosmith. emily hearn! maisie peters. griff! sara bareilles!!! (i love ALL of sara's albums, but kaleidoscope heart probably remains my favorite, though i'd recommend amidst the chaos for folklore-esque vibes). a few years ago, i was really into ruelle, and i listened to her throughout a time of heartbreak, so it's hard for me to go back to now, but i would still always recommend her for etherealness.
on the poppier side, carly rae jepsen, her most recent album the loneliest time is terrific. joanne and chromatica by lady gaga were underrated imo (also the a star is born soundtrack!). foxes. marina. you're probably familiar with florence + the machine, but i would be remiss not to mention ceremonials. halsey i'm sure goes without saying. lorde (melodrama you will always be a masterpiece). aly & aj.
these are slight throwbacks, but mandy moore's album wild hope is one of my favorites ever, it's beautiful (and very swiftian imo), amanda leigh is good too. idk if she's still making music, but angel taylor's album love travels. norah jones. marié digby. a fine frenzy! i loved her so much, one cell in the sea was everything, and bomb in a birdcage and pines...her music will calm your spirit!
these are rattled off the top of my head, i'm probably forgetting many artists i love and need to spend more time rediscovering, but i hope this gives you some places to start and some new joy and melodies to find!
