Читайте по-русски ⏬ в комментарии ⏬ A little more virtual travel from #archive 📑 Old Fortess on Corfu, in the same-named city. It is also named Paleo Fryrio. There are many versions of it's appearance date, but first mentionings are found in the written sources of VI century. Probably, just becouse of the fact that the Fortess was re-built for many times in different epoques, we have these differences in dating of building the Fortess 📚 It was built on the natural rock with two tops when Byzantine empire was here. Corifo town (which means "on the mountain") was situated inside the Fortess. Later different nations bossed on the island. Sicilians rebuilt the Fortess two times - at the beginning of the 13-th and on the turn of the centuries 13/14-th. But the most important contribution into its modernization was made by Venice people. They built artillery structures to protect security of the island. Turkish attacked the island four times but could not conquer it, and Corfu was ghe only island of Ionic archipelago which was never been conqued by Turkish ⚔ In the XVI century yhe Fortess was used as a Naval base of Adriatic region and as the most important transport hub of Mediterrinean region. Therefore, a beautiful town appeared around the Fortess at the beginning of XVII century. The town was built in the neo-classic style 🏘 In 1840 British people built an Anglican church in honour of St. George in the Fortess, but later the church was concreated as Orthodox and it stays so up to date ⛪ Besides the Church, the Museum, the branch of Music Cathedra of Ionic Academia and cafe work now in the #Fortess. 📝 I haven't been inside the Fortess because the entrance was to far from the plase which I made this photo from, and I was too tired at that time... The Hill Palace Museum was the official residence of the Kochi rulers in 17th century which is Located about 10 kms from Kochi .Today it is famous as a full-fledged ethno-archaeological museum and as Kerala's first ever heritage museum. The palace complex comprises 49 buildings built in the traditional Kerala style of architecture and is surrounded by 52 acres of terraced land.
