Right. So. Not sure how I felt about the other storylines tonight (especially the Lucky stuff), but that was the best Henrik content we’ve had in a long, long time!

First of all, THEY ACTUALLY MENTIONED GASKELL!! I am genuinely in shock, I legitimately can’t believe that they actually mentioned him. This is the first mention he’s had in over TWO YEARS. “You poured all your faith, love, and trust into him, and he chewed it all up and spat this version of you out.”

The show really is openly admitting that Henrik was in love with John now, huh. And people still try to insist Henrik is straight? Lmaooo. Anyway, that line may very well have been to remind the viewers of Henrik’s bisexuality, because...

Russ is DEFINITELY a new love interest. Him and Henrik have way, WAY too much tension for this to not be leading to something.

When we first saw Russ, he was talking about Henrik pulling him from a body of water to save his life. Which is an exact role reversal of Henrik’s last male love interest (John) having pulled him from a lake to save his life. Then there’s the way Russ said he was “admiring the work of an old friend” - almost the exact same tone John used when he told Serena he and Henrik were “old friends”.

And THEN there was the “kiss of life” line. Yes, in context they just meant CPR. But come on, this is Holby, they don’t know subtlety when it comes to foreshadowing - if they weren’t playing into the romantic hints, they would have had Russ straight up say “he gave me CPR”. Need I remind you they get locked in a room together in a couple of weeks? I’d bet you anything they’ll have a real kiss in that room.

Also, yep, we hadn’t really seen Henrik express interest in any men outside Gaskell until now, but we can now safely say he definitely has a thing for bad boys lmao.

Also related to the Henrik and Russ plotline - Ollie Valentine is BACK, folks! We all knew he was the return, but I’m still very, very happy to see him. I’m very interested to see where his plotline goes. I’m relieved they haven’t magically cured him of his brain injury after all.

Speaking of which, when Russ told Henrik “he’s like you”, for a very brief moment I seriously thought he was referring to them both having mental disabilities (Ollie’s brain injury, Henrik’s autism) lolll. Of course, the thing about them both having been through a great deal of trauma made much more contextual sense.

Elsewhere in this episode, Russ and Henrik weren’t the only ones having weird queer tension - Max and Lucky are being as sapphic as ever. It helps that their current storyline? Is copy and pasted right from an actual gay couple’s storyline on Emmerdale. Aaron and Jackson - they were going out for a while, then Jackson ended up paralysed and asked Aaron to help him die. So. You know.

The rest of the Lucky stuff, the romantic tension with Max aside, was... weird. The whole thing with her hallucinating the nurse lady (played by Ethan’s ex off Casualty) was just bizarre. I don’t really know what they’re trying to achieve with this.

Depending on how this plays out (i.e. whether or not Lucky changes her mind), it’s either ironic or deliberate that they’ve chosen pretty much the one character who could become quadriplegic and still continue doing their job for this storyline. There may be some things she couldn’t keep doing, granted, but stuff like doing counselling is still plausible.

The Josh stuff is actually really good so far. A good mental health storyline? On MY Holby? Could it be?! Let’s hope it is.

And oh, Eli. Eli, I love you, and I know you have low empathy, and I know you were trying your best, but telling Josh to suck it up and deal with it isn’t very good advice.

Also, the whole thing with Donna and Fletch burning Jeni’s stuff right outside the hospital was odd. Would they even be allowed to do that? Who knows.

And that’s pretty much all I’ve got to say on this episode.

49. how did you get your biggest scar? this is literally the only scar i have i think but i tripped when i was little over something and scraped my foot really badly, i still have a small scar from it

50. what did you do today that made someone else happy? i went on a walk with my mom because chicago weather is finally calming down and getting warmer, it was 60 degrees out today so we had to celebrate lol

01: do you have a good relationship with your parents? Yes which I’m very grateful and lucky for- in my own theory it’s due to the fact that they “had” me when they were older than most parents, and I’m an only child. I think it is in their nature that there’s a lot of mutual respect between us, but I do think that having a kid when older can help with that. 

02: who did you last say “i love you” to? Parents probably, or maybe my friend when we parted ways I can’t remember

03: do you regret anything? Kinda regretting not peeling the celery for this bolognese sauce. In my defense, this is literally my first time actually cooking with celery (don’t really like it on its own so didn’t grow up eating/cooking a lot of it)

04: are you insecure? *finger guns*

05: what is your relationship status? pretty dang single

07: what did you last eat? Just finished dinner- made some simplified bolognese sauce tonight which I thought came out pretty well c: It’s a sauce I’ve been wanting to try for a while and it wasn’t nearly as grueling as I thought it would be which was cool

08: played any sports? haha no I got into athletic activity a bit late in life and even now I’m not really athletic, I more just like to exercise

09: do you bite your nails? Just the skin around them. I recently learned that’s what they mean when they say “biting the cuticles”!

10: when was your last physical fight? oh boy I was raised in a pretty safe childhood

13: do you hate anyone at the moment? nah not really a “hating” person

15: have any pets? My cat Humanity who’s back home with my parents. My friend/near-future roommate and I very nearly adopted a cat on Saturday though lol

16: how exactly are you feeling at the moment? Actually really happy. It was a good day overall, and then my internship supervisor unexpectedly talked to me after everybody else had left in the office and somewhat officially offered me an extension on my internship (since I’ll of course still be in DC for school this year) which, ahhhhhh so this was something I had been a little bummed about, because I knew that they knew I was going to be in the area even after my internship technically ended, but nobody really brought up whether I could do another internship/continue it with them in the fall and I didn’t want to ask because a) I still have my other job so no internship would just mean that I’m working more and b) I have a pretty good relationship with my supervisors/coworkers and so I didn’t want to put them or me into a position of saying “Well we know you’re in DC still but uh we don’t have an internship for you” so I just left it at not asking, and I knew applications for the fall were already in and they had been talking about it so I figured that was that. So this honestly caught me off guard, and then it was extra sweet because apparently the reason they hadn’t said anything thus far was because my two supervisors were apparently trying to figure out if there was a way for me to work and get paid for it which is just ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh wow that was really just so sweet of them and meant so much to me especially that my supervisor kept stressing that she and her co-supervisor were really pleased and impressed with my work ;;o;; So that really REALLY made my day and I honestly went home smiling all the way on the bus C: And then I had a lot of fun preparing the bolognese sauce and I thought it turned out well which also felt good- especially because I’ve gotten a number of compliments on my food when I bring it in for lunch which really means a lot to me

64: would it be hard to kiss the last person you kissed? Again, pretty sure the last person I kissed on the lips was in Sophomore year so probably would not want to kiss them again lol

67: who was the last person of the opposite sex you talked to? Chatted with one of the security guards at the museum on my way out. Honestly the security guards are one of the parts I’m happiest about with staying with this internship for longer because I love talking to them

Today’s conversations included Why you stay up at night/can’t fall asleep, What ‘serious’ problems matter to you, and Sending stuff back home to your family. I got into the galleries a lot for my project, so I get to interact with the security guards a lot C:
