While I was researching at @sunskate’s costume question, I ended up on this YouTube channel. The uploader has got an amazing, astounding variety of old skating events. While it is possible that I have seen videos from them before, I don’t recall them off the top of my head - and the quality is great too. Meanwhile, although I have seen these skates before, it is always interesting to see them as a whole rather than just the program. For someone like me who always enjoyed even the small moments on broadcasts beyond the competitive skate, a whole show like this can be a bit of a gold mine.
This particular video doesn’t actually feature V/M. It is a broadcast that they aired it for a while that highlighted the gold medallists at the novice and junior levels, and as we saw from the 2001 edition*, sometimes the earlier levels too. In the 2002 season, V/M were competing as novices, and according to their book, they had a fall in their competition which ultimately left them in third place. As such, their skate is not highlighted here as the show only made room for the gold medalists. However, if you watch the opening credits you will see V/M in a small snippet of their free dance that year. I don’t recall ever getting a video of that dance, and certainly this does not give us any real inkling of it; however, it spoke volumes to me that the bronze medallists were still promising enough, that they made it into that sequence.
*Previously, I had only ever seen edited versions, whereas this is the entire episode, though VM are only in a small section. I always seem to forget just how much younger and tinier they were than their competition in the early years. 😂

I feel I should probably do a little message considering it's the one-year anniversary of Hangman Junior so here we go...
I never anticipated the first part of Hangman Junior getting the love it did, nor could I have predicted people wanting to see more from it. I was amazed by how quickly people fell in love with the universe and sent me so many of their own amazing ideas for me to explore within the universe
I fell in love with writing about the family of Hangman Junior, Jake, and Bradley (and Moose of course) and writing them for y'all has genuinely been such an honour
I am so sorry I've not been writing them as much as I should be, I'm still struggling with motivation and ideas for the Hangman Junior Universe but just know that I still love them with all my heart and soul
so to round this message off...
thank you
thank you to all of y'all who have been reading and enjoying this universe I created and thank y'all for sticking by me through it all
much love <3

a quick look back at june 2024
it's been a sleepy june. let's get into it.
general overview and numbers
i watched 89 matches in june, 68 of which took place this month. looking at it, most of my viewing took place around the start and end of the month; i was a little burnt out around the middle.
not much to discuss, though i did end up catching much more ajpw than i had anticipated! one of the folks i watch it with has described it as being a bit ddt-like on account of a lot of the matches being a little low-stakes and goofy, which i think is part of the appeal for me.
most appearances throughout the month
i spent an afternoon early in june catching up on all of the dragongate i missed in may, which means that hyo ended up coming in first for "most appearances in matches viewed this month." limiting it to matches that took place in june, sugiura came in first, with second place somehow being an eighteen-person tie. huh! i think by the rules i've set for myself that would make hyo the spreadsheet champ of the month, but these rules are arbitrary and the tie kind of delights me, so sugiura's champ now.
mumbling about matches
ben-k vs luis mante (dragongate, june 4th)
i didn't realize that i had strong feelings about ben-k prior to this match. turns out i do! big ben-k feelings!
i really enjoyed mante's dreamgate run, but i think i was ready for a new champ. i'm excited to see what ben-k gets up to; him vs yamato at kobe world is one of the things (in wrestling, at least) that i'm most looking forward to in july.
speaking of which,
kota minoura vs yamato (dragongate, june 6th)
i have more legitimate thoughts about this match, but as i'm struggling to articulate them, i'll just keep it to this: every time i see bald minoura, i'm struck by how bald he is. he's so bald. balder than anyone has ever been. wishing him well on his hair journey, growing out a buzz cut is a pain in the ass.
despe invitacional (njpw, june 10th)
i'm putting the entire show down; it would feel strange to single out any individual match when i think my enjoyment came from experiencing it as whole. fantastic time top-to-bottom, loved it to death. i think i said this while watching it, but it was the kind of joyful, restoring-faith-in-wrestling experience that all star junior festival was for me last year. maybe this is a sign that hiromu and desperado should be forced to book a show together. i would enjoy it, at least.
yuma anzai vs hideki suzuki (ajpw, june 24th)
i want to rewatch this again so i can solidify my opinion on it, but man, anzai's just The Guy. i only started keeping tabs on him after last year's n1 so, you know, i haven't really been keeping up with his career for long, but it's been cool seeing how much he's grown as a performer in that time. very excited to see where he goes from here, especially now that he has an established Breakfast Club gang to hang out with.
i think that's it for june! as always, if you particularly enjoyed something from this past month, do feel free to share! see you all in august.

A standoff between hunter and prey, but who is playing which part is still unclear. Was it always like this? Did she always make my pulse trip in unease? Or was it nervous anticipation? I don’t know."
Smoke and Words-AntiKryptonite (AO3)
Summary: Somewhere, there are white walls. Four of them, tall and padded and unyielding. In those white walls, there is a girl who used to sing but now only screams. Sometimes, when she falls silent, there is another voice, a silvery clarion voice that spirals and builds and comforts, erecting beautiful constructs in her mind. And sometimes….sometimes she dreams of another world.
Soothe Me-angylinni (AO3)
Summary: Peeta is working on a commission and is having trouble getting started. She takes it upon herself to make him relax.

It took LaToysha Brown 13 years to realize how little interaction she had with white peers in her Mississippi Delta town: not at church, not at school, not at anywhere.
The realization dawned when she was in the seventh grade, studying the civil rights movement at an after-school program called the Sunflower County Freedom Project. It didn't bother her at first. By high school, however, Brown had started to wonder if separate could ever be equal. She attended a nearly all-black high school with dangerous sinkholes in the courtyard, spotty Internet access in the classrooms, and a shortage of textbooks all around. Brown had never been inside Indianola Academy, the private school most of the town's white teenagers attend. But she sensed that the students there had books they could take home and walkways free of sinkholes.
"The schools would achieve so much more if they would combine," said Brown, now age 17 and a junior.
But more than four decades after they were established, "segregation academies" in Mississippi towns like Indianola continue to define nearly every aspect of community life. Hundreds of these schools opened across the country in the 20 years after the Brown v. Board decision, particularly in southern states like Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and Virginia. While an unknown number endure outside of Mississippi, the Delta remains their strongest bastion.
A Hechinger Report analysis of private school demographics (using data compiled on the National Center for Education Statistics website) found that more than 35 such academies survive in Mississippi, many of them in rural Delta communities like Indianola. Each of the schools was founded between 1964 and 1972 in response to anticipated or actual desegregation orders, and all of them enroll fewer than two percent black students. (The number of Mississippi "segregation academies" swells well above 35 if schools where the black enrollment is between three and 10 percent are counted.) At some of them -- including Benton Academy near Yazoo City and Carroll Academy near Greenwood -- not a single black student attended in 2010, according to the most recent data. Others, like Indianola Academy, have a small amount of diversity.
Recommended Reading
"These schools were started to keep white children away from blacks," said Wade Overstreet, a Mississippi native and the program coordinator at the national advocacy organization Parents for Public Schools. "They've done an amazing job of it."
It would be easy to see Indianola -- and Mississippi more generally -- as an anomaly when it comes to education: hyper-segregated, fraught with racial mistrust, stuck in the past. But in some respects, the story of education in Indianola is becoming the story of education in America.
As the Atlantic reported last week, throughout the country, public schools are nearly as segregated as they were in the late 1960s when Indianola Academy opened. In many areas, they are rapidly resegregating as federal desegregation orders end. White families continue to flee schools following large influxes of poor or minority students. And in Indianola, as in the rest of the country, there's stark disagreement as to why: Whites often cite concerns over school quality, while blacks are more likely to cite the persistence of racism.
Indeed, as Indianola struggles to make its way educationally and economically in the 21st century, the town's experience serves as a cautionary tale of how separate and unequal schools can not only divide a community, but fracture a place so deeply that its very existence is at stake.
Flight From Gentry
Indianola's tale of two school systems -- one public and black, one private and white -- began in January of 1970, when a U.S. district judge ruled that Indianola could no longer permit blatant segregation in its public school system. For years, white students had attended schools north of the train tracks that divide the town, while black students were relegated to inferior school buildings south of the tracks. The plan was to merge the schools and send all high school students -- white and black -- to the previously black Gentry High School.
In anticipation of the ruling, the white community founded Indianola Academy in 1965. But the fledgling school did not yet have a facility large enough to accommodate the hundreds of white students who left the public schools during Christmas break in 1969, knowing the decision was imminent, said Steve Rosenthal, a senior in high school at the time. Rosenthal said he was instructed to bring his textbooks home with him over break. When school started back up in January, he attended one of the academy's new satellite campuses in a Baptist church. The situation was far from ideal: Study halls sometimes were interrupted by weekday funerals. Yet not a single white student showed up at Gentry that semester. In the spring, Rosenthal received his diploma as part of the academy's first graduating class.
Today, Rosenthal serves as mayor of Indianola, a two-hour drive north of Jackson. The academy still thrives. According to the Private School Universe Survey, the school enrolled 434 white students and two black ones during the 2009-10 school year (the most recent year for which such data is available). Yet fewer than 20 percent of the town's approximately 10,000 residents are white.
Little else is publicly known about Indianola Academy apart from the information the school promulgates on its website. As a private school, its students do not have to take the state's standardized tests (much to the chagrin of the town's public school students), though a student handbook on the school's website states that students should score in the top 30 percent on a student achievement test to gain admission.
Sammy Henderson, the academy's headmaster, never responded to a reporter's request to visit while in town. But he did answer several questions via e-mail. Henderson wrote that African-American enrollment at the school has risen to nine students this school year, and "we also have Hispanic, Indian, and Oriental students." Annual tuition, which includes money for books and other fees, ranges from $3,795 to $5,080, depending on the grade level. And the academy budgets money annually for minority scholarships, spreading word about their availability via newspaper advertisements and word-of-mouth, Henderson said.
IRS tax forms filed by Indianola Academy show the school has raised a modest amount for scholarships in recent years. In 2010, for instance, the school paid out $6,500 for "minority scholarships," according to those forms.
Tradition and history partly explain why the scholarships aren't more widely utilized: Black families know their children could be isolated and shunned at the academy, and those with the means and desire to avoid the public schools have long relied on other -- more historically welcoming -- private schools, including a tiny, nearly all-black Christian academy in Indianola.
But Indianola Academy is also highly selective and opaque in its recruitment and admissions processes for African-Americans, according to public school students and teachers. Applicants have to be top students and submit multiple letters of recommendation, said a Sunflower County Freedom Project participant whose younger brother thought about applying. And some black students appear to be recruited at least partly because of their athletic abilities, said Sam Wallis, a current Gentry teacher, and Katie Cooney, a former one. Henderson denies that claim, writing that several of the academy's African-American students do not even play sports. He said a "minority scholarship committee" reviews the applications and awards money to those who "meet the qualifications," although he did not spell out what those qualifications are.
The academy, like other private schools, is eligible for federal money through what are known as Title programs that flow through public school districts. Indianola school district officials say the academy has received about $56,000 in Title II money for professional development over the last two years.
But apart from that exchange of money, there's little formal or informal interaction between the academy and the public school system, say Indianola residents.
Wallis, a New York native who attended public schools in Westchester County, expected to encounter segregation when he moved to Indianola in 2011 to teach in the public schools. But he had not anticipated such a laissez-faire attitude toward it.
"When I taught Plessy v. Ferguson, I offered it up that separate is not equal. I said it was one of the worst decisions in American history," he said. "But several of the students said, 'Why? That sounds okay.'"
Sinkholes and Low Scores
Compared to Indianola Academy, Gentry High School is an open book, its academic struggles exposed to the world. While there's some modest racial integration at Indianola's public elementary schools, by high school all but a few white students have departed. Ninety-eight percent of Gentry's students are black, one percent are Hispanic, and one percent are white. A plaque at the school's entrance states that Gentry was erected in 1952 as part of South Sunflower County's "special consolidated school district for colored."
The campus is made up of several worn buildings, which means that students have to walk outdoors between many of their classes. Since the outdoor drainage and sewage systems are outdated, sinkholes dot the walkways; when it rains, students and teachers can find themselves wading through foot-deep floodwaters.
Even Gentry's current students believe white county leaders deliberately built a partially outdoors campus 60 years ago, after a fire destroyed the previous school building, because they hoped it would deter black students from coming to school in the rain or cold. "They didn't want black kids to get an education," said Brown.
Gentry has struggled with test scores since the state's accountability system began in the 1990s: Last year, 56 percent of students at the school had passing scores in algebra, 51 percent in English, 42 percent in history, and 17 percent in biology.
But students like Brown believe the poor scores are at least partly because the school lacks the resources it needs to be successful. Students sometimes swelter in classrooms without working air-conditioning during the hottest months and they can shiver without enough heat during the coldest. In some classes, the teenagers cannot take textbooks home because teachers fear they will get lost. Computers crash constantly because of low bandwidth. In Wallis' first year at Gentry (2011-12), he inherited government textbooks identifying the latest U.S. president as George H.W. Bush.
"The school needs to be torn down and rebuilt altogether," says Brown.
Her classmate, 16-year-old Primus Apolonio, says poorly behaved students also keep Gentry down -- partly by scaring away the teachers. Of the six young instructors brought to Gentry in the fall of 2011 through the alternative recruitment program, Teach For America, Wallis was the only one to return for a second year. Others left for personal reasons, or because of frustration with the job, according to Gentry staff. Teach for America participants typically make two-year commitments to teach in a high-needs school.
"The students are disrespectful to the point where the teachers don't stay," said Apolonio. "And the school [administration] does not do anything but paddle them and send them back to class." (Corporal punishment has long been legally employed by Indianola's school district staff, as in other parts of the state. Earl Watkins, the "conservator" recently appointed by the state to oversee the school district, wrote in an e-mail that teachers have also been trained in other discipline strategies. "Because corporal punishment has been a practice for many years in the district, professional development must precede the reduction/phase-out of it," Watkins wrote.)
But Apolonio agrees with Brown that students would behave better if they felt like the community placed more value on their education. "During the winter it gets cold and the heaters don't work in the classrooms," he said. "Of course the kids are going to get more disruptive."
Gentry and Indianola Academy do not play each other in interscholastic sports; academies typically play other academies. Yet throughout most its history -- and for reasons that remain the subject of urban legend in town -- Indianola Academy has maintained control of a large football field adjacent to the old public junior high school (which now houses the district's early childhood center), on land town leaders say is actually privately owned by the American Legion. Instead of sharing the field, the academy leaders put their logo, IA, on the buildings like territorial markings. There's also a six-foot barbed wire fence around the field's perimeter: a stark reminder that outsiders should stay away.
Two Communities, Two Narratives
Indianola, like other segregated communities across the country, is defined not only by two school systems and two sides of town, but by two competing narratives that attempt to explain segregation's stubborn persistence.
According to one narrative, white leaders and residents starved the public schools of necessary resources after decamping for the academy, an institution perpetuated by racism. According to the opposing narrative, malfeasance and inept leadership contributed to the downfall of the public schools, whose continued failings keep the academy system alive.
Hury Minniefield is a purveyor of the former narrative. He was one of the first black students to integrate the town's public schools in 1967 through a voluntary -- and extremely limited -- desegregation program. He and his two younger brothers spent a single academic year at one of the town's white schools. "Because the blacks were so few in number, we didn't interfere with the white students too much and never did hear the 'n word' too much," he said.
Despite his unique personal history, Minniefield does not believe the schools in Indianola will ever truly integrate. "It has not been achieved and it will likely never be achieved," he said. "It's because of the mental resistance of Caucasians against integrating with blacks. ... Until the white race can see their former slaves as equals, it will not happen."
Steve Rosenthal, the mayor, takes a different view. He argues that many white families have no problem sending their children to school with black students, but choose Indianola Academy because the public schools are inferior. His two children, both in their 20s, graduated from the academy, where he believes they received a strong education. "I would not have had a problem sending them to public schools had the quality been what I wanted," he said, adding a few minutes later, "If there's mistrust, it's the black community toward the whites."
Rosenthal and Minniefield also have divergent views on what led to the public schools' decline.
The white community "would prefer not to pay a dime to the public schools," said Minniefield. "It's had a devastating effect on resources and the upward mobility of the community."
Rosenthal is not deaf to such arguments, agreeing that the Gentry campus should be updated or replaced. However, he cites mismanagement as well. When the state took over the schools in 2009, the district reportedly employed dozens of unnecessary employees, he says. "The old saying was that even the secretaries had secretaries," he said. "I don't think funding was our entire problem."
Students tend to offer the most nuanced perspective on why wholesale segregation endures. "It's because of both races," said Brown. "No one wants to break that boundary or cross that line. Both sides are afraid."
The Academies' Local Impact
The private academies scattered throughout the state have more in common than racial demographics and founding purpose. Many of them, like Indianola Academy, are located on their town's "Academy Drive" and embrace mascots that hearken back to the Civil War: the Generals, the Patriots, the Colonels. Their websites often prominently display non-discrimination clauses -- yet feature photos only of smiling white children.
The academies are also partly responsible for destroying the economic and educational fortunes of their communities, contends Dick Molpus, a former Mississippi secretary of state who co-founded Parents for Public Schools.
Those communities that continue to operate two separate school systems "are moving onto life support if they are not already dead," he said. "Companies don't want to come to places where both of the school systems are inferior." Molpus added that Mississippi towns have limited amounts of money, power, and influence. "When those three things are divided between black public schools and white academies, both offer substandard education," he said.
Richard Kahlenberg, a senior fellow at The Century Foundation and expert on school desegregation, said he's concerned that increasing numbers of poor, minority students will attend under-resourced schools nationally if segregation continues to deepen. Although research has uncovered blatant racial disparities in school spending, Kahlenberg defines school "resources" more broadly -- including teacher quality, parent involvement and peer college aspirations -- all of which he says tend to lag at schools with predominantly low-income, minority students.
'We Would Give Away Our Empty Buildings'
Rosenthal maintains that Indianola Academy, at least, offers a superior education. But he, too, is worried about the town's economic future. The schools aren't preparing enough students for living wage jobs, and the jobs aren't always there for those who need them. Indianola has lost several major businesses in recent decades, including the yard equipment manufacturer Modern Line and a large catfish processing plant. The town's population dropped by about 1,400, or 11.5 percent, between the 2000 and 2010 census. "We would give away our empty buildings to a company that would agree to employ x number of people," said Rosenthal.
Indianola's students say they need more than jobs to entice them to stay in a town that feels provincial in more ways than one. "Indianola is small to me," said Apolonio. "I would bring my family back here and show them where I grew up. But as far as living here? No."
Brown said the community has been taking small steps forward. Earlier this year the Sunflower Freedom Project published a literary magazine featuring the work of both public school and academy students -- an unprecedented collaborative effort. Hundreds of blacks now live north of the train tracks in previously all-white neighborhoods. And youth of different races meet regularly in recreational sports leagues, if not yet at formal interscholastic events.
Brown, however, would prefer to live in a town where the milestones are not so modest, the racial divide not so deep. "I do want to give back to this community," she said. "But if I start a family I do not want to start it here. We are so behind on everything -- especially education."
Jackie Mader contributed material to this report.

Okay so Normal People continues to be a struggle. So we'll have to put that on hold again until I have a little more time to focus. Take this small blurb about Niall instead.
It was the first day of classes of their junior year. Niall has said a lot of things in his life about how it was the best day ever to meet her, but nothing would have made him happier if he could have met her years before. He literally bumped into her, sending her tripping into a bench and she scraped her shin.
“Christ,” he muttered under his breath, and he fluttered his hands over her trying to be helpful but not sure what to do. “M’so sorry,” he said, and his cheeks felt flush as he steadied her from falling flat on her face with the weight of her book bag on her arm.
“Oh please,” she said with a gently smile. “At least I have a reason for tripping this time; normally I just fall over the thing air and that’s enough,” she giggled, and she dropped her bag on the bench and pulled out an entire box of bandages. “I’m no rookie, don’t worry,” she said with a wink to him.
Niall smirked and still felt bad. “M’Niall,” he said.
“Hi Niall,” she said stuffing the bandage wrapper into her short’s pockets. She hiked her bag back on her shoulder and held her hand out to him. As she introduced herself, he nearly missed her name because all he could think about is how nice it was to hold her hand in his. “I’m headed to an accounting class, where are you off to?” She wondered.
“Erm…accounting,” he said nervously. “I jus’ transferred s’I guess m’goin’ the wrong way, huh?” He scuffed his shoe on the sidewalk. She hooked her free arm through his.
“Come on,” she said and started off in her original direction. “This way I won’t run the risk of tripping over a cute boy either,” she said sweetly and pushed the sunglasses that were previously on top of her head down over her eyes.
Niall felt his cheeks warm again.
*
It was instantaneous how well they clicked. It was too good to be true. She introduced him to all her friends. They were all so lovely and clearly adored her (especially the boys). She got him an on-campus job at the library where she tutored. The people that walked in called her mom as she always had snacks, a stain stick, and a mini-sewing kit for emergencies. He watched her from afar as she tended to others academic and personal needs. She offered advice that was sagely given beyond her years, and it was incredible to be a part of her life. She invited him to the gym every day.
“I don’t really like going to the gym,” she informed him. “I just like being busy and having a routine.” If he was part of the routine, then he was down for whatever mental itinerary she had going. He noted the boys that ogled her there, he didn’t like it. But every time he thought of saying something to her, she would turn to look at him with a smile and he remembered that no matter how nice she was to everyone, she was there with him.
*
It was a combination of Niall drunk off her intoxicating smile and presence (she was an angel after all) and a bit of rum. He managed to tug her away from a conversation and pulled her and himself to the dance floor while they swayed to the music playing live from the band area. “You’re a bit unsteady here, Ni,” she noted and held him up as best she could with a giggle.
“I think m’in love with you,” he said in her ear and then managed to still her face long enough to kiss her squarely on the mouth.
Immediately after he threw up on the floor which sent her into mom-mode, so she didn’t have time to respond to the fact that he threw up immediately after kissing her, and that she was also very much in love with him too.
*
He woke up with a screaming headache, but the lovely girl had anticipated such. The blinds were drawn tight, there was no sound coming from anywhere in his apartment and there was a tall glass of water and two little white pills beside it. A sticky note was next to them: Take me and a little squiggly heart was written there.
He was never one to disobey the rules, so he did as he was instructed. He wondered where she was, but he knew she wouldn’t just leave him here. He headed for the bathroom. Another note was there on the mirror that he read as he slowly brushed his teeth so as not to upset his stomach. I’m studying in the bedroom, quietly and a cute little smiley face adorned the bottom of the note.
As he entered the bedroom, his head felt foggy. He remembered very little from last night. However, the way his body reacted to her presence he felt like he royally messed up. “It’s pretty impolite to tell a girl you love her, kiss her, and then immediately throw up and ruin her best wedges,” she said knowingly as she set her notebook aside.
Niall felt clammy all over as if he was going to throw up again. “It’s a good thing I’m in love with you too and you’re pretty cute,” she said softly gazing at the very tired boy in the doorframe.

Support for Hismas speedy recovery
On Saturday, Nov 25th, 2023, Hisham — a 20 yr old junior at Brown University — and his childhood friends Kinnan and Tahseen were walking to Hisham's grandmother's house for dinner in Burlington, Vermont, when all three were shot in an unprovoked attack.
We are thankful that all three will survive this attack, and Hisham's friends are expected to make a full recovery. For Hisham, however, one of the bullets that struck him is lodged in his spine and has left him paralyzed from the chest down.
Hisham's first thoughts were for his friends, then for his parents who were thousands of miles away. He has demonstrated remarkable courage, resilience and fortitude - even a sense of humor - even as the reality of his paralysis sets in.
We, his family, believe that Hisham will change the world. He'll change the world through his spirit, his mind and his compassion for those much more vulnerable than himself, especially the thousands of dead in Gaza and many more struggling to survive the devastating humanitarian crisis unfolding there.
This fund is intended to help cover the costs associated with his recovery - the long and uncertain rehabilitation needs, as well as providing Hisham what he needs to enable him to change the world for the good, as we know he will.
These expenses include rehabilitation, but also on-going costs of his care and adaptive living needs. Though we anticipate some expenses being covered by insurance, there are vast financial needs that will not be. This fund is intended to address those needs. The family has received estimates of more than $1 million in the first year alone to cover anticipates costs associated with rehab, adaptive considerations, travel and more, and an estimate of more than $2.8 million over his lifetime (figures provided by Christopher Reeve Foundation and Kelly Brush Foundation).
The family is committed to his recovery and remain hopeful, in spite of the grave prognosis. If our prayers are answered and Hisham is able to recover in a way that he does not need the full amount raised, the family will create a foundation committed to supporting the most vulnerable members of his community who have not benefited from the humanizing media attention that has given Hisham this opportunity for recovery.

Hisham is a kind, gentle, brilliant young man with enormous potential and his whole life ahead of him. A Palestinian-Irish-American, he grew up in the West Bank and is a graduate of the Ramallah Friends School, a Quaker institution. He is pursuing a dual degree, studying math and archaeology at Brown. Hisham speaks seven languages, is a teacher assistant at Brown and is so dedicated to his studies that he has told his college professors he is determined to start the next semester “on time.” His professors and classmates eagerly await his return. Let's be part of making that a reality for him!
Tumblr media
Hisham and his friends, Kinnan Abdalhamid and Tahseen Ahmad, all Palestinians who grew up together and attended the same Quaker school, were speaking Arabic and English, and wearing traditional Palestinian kiffeyah scarves, when they were approached by an unknown man who shot them with a handgun. Particularly given the ongoing violence in Gaza and the West Bank, the Burlington Police Department and FBI are investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.
In a cruelly ironic twist, Hisham's parents had recommended he not return home over winter break, suggesting he would be safer in the US with his grandmother. Burlington is a second home to Hisham, who has spent summers and happy holidays with his family there. It breaks our hearts that these young men did not find safety in his home away from home.
Your support can make all the difference to helping Hisham. It will help his parents Elizabeth and Ali, their daughter and other son to face the challenges that await them, cover medical bills, repeated flights and nurture hope for a brighter future for Hisham.
**We are aware of and endorse another fundraiser to support all three of the families affected by this senseless gun violence.
Hisham's family and friends are grateful for the outpouring of support, starting in Burlington, Vermont and extending to all corners of the globe, including of course his loving community in Ramallah and the West Bank, and to all those who ache at the thought that the logical conclusion of dehumanization is hate-fueled violence.
Hisham asks that if you want to learn more about supporting humanitarian efforts in his home country, visit Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.
Your gift - however big or small - is a deeply meaningful act of solidarity with Hisham and echoes our belief that he WILL change the world for good. Fundraiser by Dalbert Brown : Support for Hismas speedy recovery https://gofund.me/3cd53d68

More obscure muses ( Introduction ) series.
Fandom: HoriMiya.
Muse #1- Izumi Miyamura.
Tumblr media
Age 17-18 ( manga and anime )
Izumi Miyamura is the male protagonist of the Horimiya series. He is a student in Class 3-1 of Katagiri Senior High School.
At school, Izumi initially gives off the impression of a quiet, gloomy, and anti-social person. His classmates' perception of him is that he is an otaku with good studying capabilities, but a hard person to approach and maintain a conversation with.
Izumi was noticeably shy and struggled to interact with others when he was a child up to his time in junior high, resulting in him being frequently ostracized and bullied—especially by Makio Tanihara and his friend group—as his peers considered him a dreary and distant individual. This treatment caused Izumi to adopt a pessimistic nature, and he would give himself piercings with a safety pin whenever he felt school was giving him a difficult time.
However, one day, Izumi met Kouichi Shindou, who was, at the time, friends with Makio. Kouichi treated Izumi much better than their other classmates. The two became good friends, even with Makio's attempt at interference, and they kept in touch despite going to separate high schools. The two are close enough that Izumi changes his personality into a violent and foul-mouthed temper towards Kouichi, a complete 180 compared to his usual demeanor. Izumi credits Kouichi for his positive change in personality between junior high and high school.
Between the beginning of high school and his third year, Izumi retains a dark aura that his classmates consistently point out. However, he himself is less pessimistic (likely due to Kouichi's influence), and a younger Kyouko Hori points out that Izumi isn't as gloomy as others make him out to be after the two pair up for a project.
When Izumi and Kyouko meet each others' hidden sides for the first time, Izumi has a friendly and laid-back attitude, a trait Kyouko hadn't anticipated. When Kyouko doesn't try to avoid him the next day at school and explains her reasoning, Izumi is noticeably happy about her actions. Izumi is also quite laid-back towards his studies and believes that everything is fine as long as he can graduate, resulting in him doing poorly on tests and assignments. Although he tends to mispronounce certain Japanese words, Izumi is quite good at tongue twisters.
Upon interacting with more of his classmates, Izumi is shown to be a good friend and a caring person that often goes out of his way to help others (especially towards Kyouko and Souta, after realizing the hard work Kyouko put into maintaining her home and taking care of her brother). He has violent tendencies when his friends are involved in argumentative affairs and may resort to physical attacks if he deems it necessary.
At times, Izumi can be relatively dense and impulsive, which is likely why he got the tattoos that forced him to dress in layers and take extreme measures not to reveal them to others at school. Although he is careful to hide his secret, close calls result from Izumi’s dense nature. Outside of school, he can show off his piercings and tattoos and has no trouble displaying them.
He appears to have very low self-esteem and is awkward when talking to people he's not close with, often saying he can't connect well with others. He worries that it would be embarrassing for Kyouko to be seen with him. Miyamura hates drawing unnecessary attention to himself, preferring to be treated as "invisible" in class. However, he feels that Hori is being made fun of for dating him because of his appearance, which leads him to cut his hair and stops him from wearing glasses to school. This causes a lot of girls to start approaching him and commenting on how good-looking he is, even flirting with him and snapping pictures of him with their phones, much to Kyouko's annoyance.
He fears anything related to horror but usually watches horror movies because Hori enjoys them.

2022
The tennis court was covered up, once again, with a big white tent, ready for another wedding. It was a highly anticipated wedding, one that has been put off for 2 years as the world shut down and re-opened again and again. However, being trapped in a house together for all that time really cemented if they were meant to be together or not.
These two were definitely made for each other.
Spencer Reid and Josephine Bowery were the towns new it couple since he arrived in Evermory in June of 2017. Jack introduced them to each other at the end of the year BBQ hosted on the farm, it was love at first sight.
The curvy red-head was infatuated with him, she listened intently to all his facts, her eyes lit up when he smiled at her and she hung off his arm like a needy child after just one dance with him. And he loved it. He took her on dates all summer long: to the local coffee shop, every week he bought the same bouquet of flowers from Willow for her, they visited museums and took long walks in the fields together. They kissed in the sunflowers and rolled around in the hay as the seasons changed, picked pumpkins for their shared front porch and by Christmas he was asking her to marry him.
That was right around the time Juliet was born. The first of the Hotchner-Y/L/N children. She was a feisty little thing now, 4 years old and thinking she was the real wedding planner.
You see, Jo was really nice to Juliet when she came over to plan with Y/N, letting her help with the flower arrangements and taste all the cake options… so now that the wedding was actually happening, she had a clipboard and a stern face as she stood beside her mother and overlooked the set-up.
“Mama,” she looks up at her, “when are you going to have a wedding?”
She shrugs and places a hand on her large tummy, “your dad and I are perfectly happy together this way. Plus, I don't think we could even find a dress to fit me.”
“If you wait for a little more then baby brother could come too?” She problem solves quickly. “I wanna plan your wedding, mama.”
She swoops down and picks up the ever-growing toddler with a groan, “oh, sweetheart, maybe one day.”
“Will you plan my wedding one day?” She ponders her cute little face so much like Aarons.
She could cry, both from being pregnant and the immense amounts of sweetness that came from their little girl. “Of course, honey, and you’ll have it right here so me and daddy can set it all up to perfection for you.”
“Good,” she smiles again. “I love it here.”
“I love having you here,” she whispers and presses their noses together. “I waited so long for you, Jules. I love you so much.”
She snuggles into her mom's chest, holding her back with her tiny little arms. “I love you too, mama.”
When she sets her down again, she goes running out to her dad so she can help him put out the placemats, now that all the tables were unfolded and set up.
She’s been here before, watching Aaron set up for a wedding that wasn’t theirs with all the care and delicacy in the world. Only this time, Jack was much older, 16 and about to be a Junior in High school. Still dating his boyfriend Jeremy, the two were basically inseparable. Jack was happier than she’s ever seen him, especially now that he was getting a little brother too. He already worshiped Juliet, she could do no wrong and he would kill anyone who looked at her the wrong way. Their little family was so perfect and complete, even her dad was in love again.
Diana moved in when Spencer did, only she ended up staying in the guest house permanently. She found it easy to cope with her struggles on the farm, finding structure and balance and even a holistic doctor over in Hockley made her lucid a lot more often than not. She’s a lovely woman, funny and smart, she took in Y/N and Aaron's kids as if they were her grandkids, and she read books to Juliet all the time, especially Shakespeare.
It was lovely having them join the family.
The whole BAU was visiting the farm for the wedding too. Jack was currently busy showing Henry and Mike all around the property, JJ and Will were enjoying some alone time in the BnB, Emily was at the bar and Derek was helping Spencer with his suit.
She met Hank and Savannah earlier, as well as Dave's new wife Crystal and her daughter. The two of them fit right into the town Gossip like they were made for Evermory, sitting beside Inez as she told them everything.
Seeing their two lives so merged and intertwined was incredible. Like a patchwork quilt all sewn together with golden string, each story so unique and different yet they all ended up here sharing the same chapter on her farm. Making memories the way her mother always dreamed they would on this giant plot of land.
She could feel her more than ever on days like today. It was as if she was standing over her, hand on her shoulder, watching the work happen with pride. All she ever wanted was to fill their lives with love… and filled with love it was.
And it would be, for evermore.

A/N: hey yall this is my first ff im posting on tumblr :D im kinda scared to post but i hope anybody who stumbles on lil ol’ me will join me along the way :) also important!!! i made oc/reader asian cus i am lol (and this whole thing is basically a glorified self insert) so plz keep this in mind when reading!! oh god i didnt realize how slow this first part was sry...
The cold silence of the room felt like stabs at your inside. You commanded your feet to stop bouncing up and down as you unconsciously started to bite off the dead skin of your bottom lip. The white corporate light from above reflected off your brand new lanyard hanging delicately from your neck. You felt the coarse blue fabric rub against your neck as you mindlessly fiddled with your lanyard; the newly printed photo of your face stared back at you with a smile.
The creak of the door to your left was what broke you from your nervous fidgets. Whipping your head up from your lanyard, you immediately stood up ready to bow to whoever came through that door.
It was a girl. She looked around the same age as you, if not older. Her attire was what gave her away. Her appearance essentially mirrored yours: hair tied back into a ponytail with a white blouse and black work pants. She also had the familiar blue ‘JYPE’ labeled strap hanging from her neck.
“Hello,” you spoke meekly, scared to disturb the cold silence that had a hold on the room you were in.
“Hello,” she replied. “My name is Choi Na-eun, I’m the new social media strategist intern and today is my first day.”
This is so relieving, you thought, another newbie to share the stress with me.
“This is my first day too,” you perked up, “I’ll be starting as the new junior Chinese marketing assistant.”
Getting the acceptance email from JYP Entertainment was definitely a high point in your life. The feeling of butterflies swarming your insides as you clicked the email open only to see your acceptance was immediately locked as a core memory. All the years of memorizing thousands of Korean and English vocabulary flashcards, the panic attacks before your finance exams, and the many, many late night coffee breaks were worth it the moment you received your first legitimate job offer, and from the esteemed JYP Entertainment company no less.
“Chinese marketing?” Na-eun asked. “So you aren’t from here, I take it.”
You shook your head. “I am from China. I completed my degree a while ago with a major in Language and a minor in Business. To be honest, I’ve done internships back home, but it’s been my dream to move to a new country.”
All of what you said was true. Up until now, your surroundings have never changed in all of your twenty-three years living. From the walk with your grandmother to daycare to the vast campus of your university, the view of your city has never changed. Your social circle stayed stagnant since you were able to talk and your love life was — for a lack of a better word — uneventful.
It wasn’t until the day you decided to start applying for careers outside your home country that you felt hopeful. Hopeful that you could find an escape from your inert lifestyle and escape the burnout and stress that has been building up over the years. And so, on a day when you were feeling unusually confident, you gathered up the courage and spent hours sending out applications to organizations all over Asia that pertained to your specific degree. The applications were mainly for small jobs at small companies, however, your strange spike of motivation gave you the confidence to apply to the everso esteemed JYP Entertainment located in Korea. Of course you knew about this company — you and your friends played songs by ‘Twice’ nonstop back in highschool — but you didn’t realize the full power that this company had on the entertainment market until you did your full research. To say that you thought you had no chance was an understatement. This application was so far of a reach that you purposefully forced your mind to erase all memory of even applying.
However, with your education, your work experience, and whatever tiny bit of luck you had, you somehow made it through the initial application process. Then the next. And the next. Then the interview. And now, you were nervously sitting in this white painted room with Na-eun, in a completely new country, waiting for your manager to come greet you.
“So you’re from China? You’ve got to teach me chinese sometime.” Na-eun smiled.
You giggled in return while nodding your head. You were relieved that you’ve met a potential friend so early in your career in this company. This was one of your big worries. With your social circle being so stagnant for the majority of your life back in China, you rarely had the opportunity to meet new people, much less make new friends.
You were about to inquire more into Na-eun’s life when the door to your left abruptly opened. In the blink of an eye, three new people strutted in — two women and one man. They seemed to be higher status than you and Na-eun judging by their attire. All three were styled in some type of blazer and dress pants and there was no lanyard to be found on any of them.
“Hello new employees,” the man greeted. Judging by his face, he looked to be in his late thirties at the least. His hair was styled back neatly and his lips slanted up, giving him a fox-like appearance. “I am Executive Manager Kim. Joined beside me on the left is Social Media Manager An and to my right is Marketing Manager Chen.”
Both you and Na-eun immediately stood up to bow and introduce yourselves.
“Hello. My name is Choi Na-eun, I’m the new social media strategist intern.” Na-eun said.
“Hello. My name is y/n, I’m the new junior Chinese marketing assistant.” You repeated after her, copying exactly what she said. You did not want to screw anything up on your first day, especially your first impression.
Manager Kim reached over to Na-eun, introducing himself and giving her a firm handshake. He then slowly moved over to you, and reached for your hand.
“Y/n,” he gave time for your name to settle on his tongue as he gave a sly smile. “You’re not from here, aren't you?”
You shook your head ‘no’. “No, sir. I’m from China where I studied language and business. I hope to do well here as the Chinese marketing assistant.” You replied, mentally cursing yourself for sounding so timid.
“I’m glad to hear,” Manager Kim chuckled, “I’m sure you’ll treat me and your other managers well.”
You felt an uncomfortable shiver pass through you as he brushed his thumb along your hand before letting go. This feeling was excused as nervousness, after all, this was your first day and your first time meeting your higher-ups.
You introduced yourself to Manager Chen, assuming that she would be the one you were to assist in your time here at JYPE. Judging by her last name, you presumed that she was Chinese as well.
“Forgive me for being so straight up Manager Chen, but are you Chinese?” You asked.
“That is alright, y/n,” she smiled, “I’m not. My Husband is, but I’ve lived in China for more than half my life. I don’t want to brag, but my mandarin has gotten proficient over the past decade or so.”
Proficient? It’s amazing. You thought. This first day was turning out better than you thought. Other than the weird feeling you received from Manager Kim, everything was turning out splendid. A potential friend and a manager that could speak your first language.
“Since it’s about noon right now,” Manager Kim took a look at his watch, “What do you all think about some lunch?”
The other managers nod their heads in agreement and gestures for you and Na-eun to follow them out of the waiting room you were in for so long.
The whole building seemed so clean. With every corner lit, by natural light or artificial light, you could clearly see that every room, every piece of furniture and decor had been purposefully placed. You couldn’t help but have a stupid look of awe plastered on your face as you mindlessly follow your superiors over to the cafeteria.
You turned your head over to Na-eun and gave her a tilt of the eyebrow, silently saying wow, this is where we work.
With the turn of a corner and several silent strides, your little group made it to the cafeteria.
The difference between your claustrophobic waiting room and this vast room was astonishing. With countless tables and romantic yellow lighting, this place almost resembled a five star restaurant. You’ve never seen a cafeteria as extravagant and clean as this before. However, to be fair, you’ve never had the experience of working with such a large corporation before.
The managers led you to the serving station where you grabbed yourself a tray and proceeded to spoon small portions of rice and side dishes onto your plate. This cuisine was different to what you were used to, but nonetheless looked delicious. You were prepared for the small cultural differences, especially with the food, but from everything you’ve witnessed so far, the culture shock would be easier to overcome than what you’ve anticipated.
“Have this soup y/n,” Manager Kim’s grating voice came from in front of you, interrupting your inner monologue. “It’s good for your complexion.”
As Manager Kim hands over the bowl of soup, you feel the sleeve of his blazer brush up against your shoulder, causing the pit of your stomach to drop.
First day nerves. That was what this feeling was. You thought.
You quietly thanked him with a small nod and walked briskly from the service line, trying to find where Na-eun went with the other two managers. Thankfully, they were just a step away and you quickly made your way over to the comfortable spot beside Na-eun. She gave you a small grin and you both followed your way to a table right in the middle of the room.
Soon, all five chairs of the table got filled and sounds of chopsticks tapping and scraping against plates and bowls filled your ears. An awkward silence dominates your table as you start to pick at your food.
“So,” Manager Chen cleared her throat, “after lunch I was thinking we should go to a meeting room and discuss Miss. Y/n’s role in our new project.”
“I was thinking the same for our new Intern Choi.” Manager An cut in, “What do you think, Manager Kim?”
“It all sounds good. I will be accompanying Manager Chen to her meeting room as I wish to also further discuss the preliminary steps for our project.” Manager Kim looked from Manager Chen over to you.
“Project?” You ask.
“We’ve had a very successful year with our idol groups and we wanted to ride this success and start marketing in China. Recently, we’ve noticed a very large and growing Chinese audience for this group. I’m sure you’re very curious now, however we can discuss further details once we are in the meeting room.” Manager Chen replies while taking a sip of the water in her glass.
Manager Chen appeared to be a very professional and respectable woman. With prominent collarbones and wide shoulders, she easily looked the part of a confident and adored manager. She needed minimal makeup to highlight her tall cheekbones, and even with a short heel on her feet she seemed to tower over you. However, her warm and comforting voice was what broke her intimidating demeanour. Just listening to her voice felt like you were back in your high school classroom with your favourite teacher explaining the motif of a sad love poem.
After some more awkward conversations mixed with a few work discussions, the five of you finished the delicious food on your trays.
“Please excuse me whilst I head to the restroom” Na-eun spoke up after your group finished clearing the table.
“Please excuse me as well.” You quickly followed, bowing as you both ventured off to the washrooms.
I should get her number so I’m not completely a loner in this place, you thought to yourself. And so, after a quick inner struggle to speak up, you finally decided to ask.
“Hey, should we exchange contacts? I don’t wanna look like the newbie eating in the cafeteria alone after today.” You chuckled.
“Totally!” Na-eun beamed. “I was actually thinking the same thing…”
And so, you both quickly exchanged each other's contact as you made your way to the restrooms.
The hall of the washrooms were narrow, hidden away from the main cafeteria. You walked in, deciding you only wanted to retouch your hair and makeup before your first official meeting. You carefully fix the loose hairs that somehow escaped the confines of your elastic and dab on a fresh layer of foundation before applying your lipstick which rubbed off while eating. Looking over at Na-eun, you see she’s quite in the zone redoing her mascara.
“Hey, I’ll just wait for you in the hall.” You said.
Na-eun gave you a disinterested nod back as she kept focusing on her mascara.
You walked to the end of the hall, leaned against the wall, and pulled out your phone. Smiling, you opened the virtual Tamagotchi app and saw your little friend staring back at you, bouncing up and down. The bundle of virtual pixels happily bounced as you fed and bathed it, making you happier in return. Playing this game, you were so entranced with your phone that the abrupt closing of the washroom doors broke you out of your hypnosis fast, causing you to flinch and drop your phone.
You looked up, only to see a brown haired man wearing a long sleeved black shirt. The hem of his sleeve fell, covering his hand as he bent down to pick up your phone. He stood back up, fully facing you now and you immediately recognized who he was. You weren’t a fool, of course you did all your research on the artists of JYPE before applying for the job. Looking down at you right now, holding your phone in his hand, was Bang Chan of Stray Kids.
The wispy tufts of his brown hair bounced over his forehead as he stepped over to you. He smiled, his dimple poking out of his cheek, and handed your phone back to you. “I think you dropped this.”
Blushing tomato red, you embarrassingly accepted the phone, trying not to make your shaking hands noticeable. It seemed like that failed, however, as you noticed him glance at your hands and dimple grow deeper.
“Thank you.” You meekly chirped and lowered your head, still in awe that you somehow bumped into a JYPE idol in the bathroom hallway of a cafeteria.
“It’s good that there’s no cracks.” Bang Chan said, looking in your eyes.
You looked back into his eyes. His smile never left his face, and you physically felt the warmth radiating off his body like rays from the sun. Some boring, objective part of your brain knew this interaction only lasted a fraction of a second, but you swore that time froze.
“Hyung!” A distant voice called.
Your trance was broken as Bang Chan looked over to the person calling his name. He turned back to you, politely bowed, and casually sauntered over to the man who called him.
What just happened? Your inner monologue ran, still trying to process the embarrassing interaction. The scent of his cologne lingered, swirling the atmosphere around your body.
Thankfully, you didn’t have too much time to dwell on this interaction as Na-eun finally opened the washroom doors and was making her way toward you.
You and Na-eun trailed behind the managers until you reached the set of elevators. It was there where you had to unfortunately separate from your comfort work buddy as she hopped in the elevator across from yours with Manager An. The other two managers led you to the elevator at the end and pressed the button for your destination floor. The ride in the elevator was silent. You stood there, fiddling with your nails.
Once the elevator gave the ding of arrival, the three of you headed down a hall where you presumed had the meeting room.
Manager Kim took a look at the watch on his wrist. “We are a minute late, everybody should be there already. Enter silently and respectfully.” He said in a stern voice.
You reached the frosted glass door of the meeting room and entered through the already opened door. The managers followed behind you with Manager Chen being the last one in and closing the door.
Your eyes widened at whom you saw.
There was Bang Chan, who sat in all his glory, staring right into your eyes with his mouth ajar. His shocked expression didn't last long, however, as he quickly composed himself to fit with the professional atmosphere of this room.
But why was he here? You thought. He’s an artist, isn’t this a management meeting?
Your inner monologue was broken by Manager Kim’s stern voice. “Y/n, why don’t you sit with me for today?” He asked with a slight tilt of the lips. His hand was hovering above your back, almost guiding you to the seat just right of the head chair.
Your heart rate quickened. There was no way that you could handle sitting right beside a high position manager on your first day. You barely knew what your duties entailed, you definitely could not handle the pressure of this seat today. You whipped your head around to look for Manager Chen. She was already sitting in her seat, looking like she was right at home.
“Manager Kim, if you don’t mind, I would like to sit in this position for today, '' a voice spoke up, “I have a lot of new ideas I’d like to share that are written in my notes.”
Bang Chan.
He paused a brief second, eyes switching between you and Manager Kim, and raised his iPad to show the screen filled with words.
“I don’t mind at all, go ahead.” Manager Kim monotonously replied. He then made his way to the head chair.
You looked over at Bang Chan, trying to subtly send the most grateful facial expression over to him. He returned your look, slightly grinning as his fingers tapped on the screen of his iPad and sat down to the right of Manager Kim. You looked over to see Manager Chen gesturing you to sit in the chair beside her and swiftly made your way over. At your seat, she handed you a notepad and pen, both adorned with the JYPE logo.
“Now, as of 1:02 p.m., September first, the meeting will officially begin.” Manager Kim clasped his hands together on top of the table. “As most of you already know, we are in the preliminary stages of planning a Chinese debut for our artist group ‘Stray Kids’. All we have right now is the estimated timeline, which is four months. We have a basic grasp of the concept we are working towards, however, as you all know, trends are always changing and growing. While we are working to create a new and original concept for Stray Kids, we also want the concept to gather as much audience reception as possible.”
Wow. That was a lot to take in. Your hands struggled to keep up with writing down what Manager Kim was saying. You knew this relatively new group was really starting to explode in the past year, but a debut in another country? This group must work really hard to even have the company consider a step as risky as this. So this is why Bang Chan is also involved in this meeting.
You peaked your head up from your notepad. Bang Chan sat across from you, one hand on his chin and the other one holding the pen to his tablet.
Manager Kim then carefully discussed the duties that each group in the room would take. Many of the jobs were directly involved with developing the concept itself, such as producing music, concept art, and theme development. Your pen never took a break from gliding on the notepad as you hurriedly jotted down everything that Manager Kim said.
Eventually, Manager Kim’s delegations moved to Manager Chen. “Manager Chen, I’ll let you take over from here.”
“Thank you Manager Kim,” Manager Chen cleared her throat. “While my main job here was to market Korean comebacks towards the Chinese audience, this new project changes things up a bit. Now, not only will I be in charge of marketing to the Chinese audience, but I will also be directly in charge of the concept itself. I will be working carefully with our team in China to monitor the trends which we can incorporate into our debut.
“This is my new assistant, y/n,” She turned and gestured to you. You politely nodded your head. “She will be gathering information on useful trends and reporting back to me, as well as some translating. Please report any ideas that you deem useful to her by the end of every week for her to sort through and deliver to me.”
You almost want to call Manager Chen crazy for giving you so much power, after all, you were only starting out as her assistant. Despite this, however, you were determined to go above and beyond with the new responsibilities given to you, after all, you knew that choosing to work in an organization as big as JYPE would take blood, sweat, and tears.
After some clarifications given by Manager Chen and a few more questions directed at her, Manager Kim took the reins back in his hands.
“Now, as I’m sure you all know, this is Bang Chan: the leader of Stray Kids. Although our management team is in charge of this debut, we like to include the opinions of artists whenever possible. He will make an appearance whenever he can and act as a representative of Stray Kids, sharing their ideas and opinions.” Manager Kim explained.
Bang Chan politely introduced himself, and quickly went on to express some concerns of his members. He made sure that each concern was answered thoroughly by Manager Kim before moving on to the next.
“As for our concept ideas,” Bang Chan’s soft brown eyes met yours, “will I have to report to y/n?”
You felt your ears redden.
“You could, yes,” Manager Kim straightened his back, “but if you find the weekly deadlines too much of a problem, you may just report to me or at any subsequent meeting.”
“No worries sir,” Bang Chan’s eyes lingered on yours for a fraction of a second more before grinning at Manager Kim, “I’m always punctual.”
The rest of the meeting consisted of more introductions and preliminary plans. After about an hour, everybody seemed satisfied with the contents of the meeting and were starting to pack up all their clutter on the table. You looked over at Manager Chen, silently asking what should I do next?
Manager Chen smiled. “Let's head to my floor. I can give you a quick tour, you can get settled at your desk. I have some paperwork that I’m almost done with; I’m sure you’ll have no problem finishing it for me.” She already was standing up and straightening over the creases of her jacket.
You stood up as well and followed behind Manager Chen like a lost baby duckling. You both made your way over to Manager Kim to bid farewell. You politely thanked him, said your goodbyes, and were about to leave when he stopped the two of you.
“Manager Chen, let’s go out for drinks tonight.” Manager Kim took a look at the intricate watch on his wrist. “With our whole team, of course. It’ll be a welcoming night and we can get to know the people on our team better.”
“That’s a great idea, Manager Kim,” Manager Chen nodded at his idea in approval. She turned on her iPad to quickly get a glimpse at her schedule. “What do you think y/n? Can you make it tonight? I know this is very last moment, but I think it’ll be a great opportunity for you to get to know your coworkers better.”
“I should be able to make it.” You definitely could make it. You had no plans anyways.
“Am I invited to this top secret party you’re all having?” A now very distinguishable voice came from behind you. Bang Chan stared at Manager Kim with a very mischievous expression.
“Would your manager allow it?” Manager Kim questioned, knitting his eyebrows.
“I’m on a diet, so I can’t drink alcohol or eat anything,” Bang Chan’s nose scrunched up in annoyance, “but I want to be as involved as I can. Just because I’m an idol doesn’t mean I can’t help behind the scenes as well.”
“Very well,” Manager Kim nodded with a fixed expression, “Let’s all meet at that restaurant about a block away west. I’ll go tell the others.” And with that, Manager Kim left you, Manager Chen, and Bang Chan to stand in awkward silence.
“Well,” Bang Chan cleared his throat and clapped his hands together, “I’ll get going as well to do some work now, but it was nice meeting the both of you.”
“You as well.” Manager Chen replied for the both of you and Bang Chan left soon after.
Manager Chen then led you to the elevators again and you headed up yet another few floors to reach your destination. You nervously fiddled with your hair as you silently waited behind your boss, looking up at the smooth lines of her blazer every few seconds. The elevator doors dinged, letting you know of its arrival. The two of you swiftly headed out the elevators and walked to what you presumed was Manager Chen’s office area. You kept following behind Manager Chen in silence before you stopped in front of a set of doors that looked identical to the ones at the previous meeting room. Manager Chen opened the doors for you, and you headed in.
You paused a step in, looking wide-eyed at the interior. The office was clean. A big glass desk sat right in the middle of the vast room in front of a huge set of windows. There were a couple of soft looking chairs placed right before the desk with a huge rug right underneath it. Over to your left, you spotted a water dispenser with a kettle right beside it. You stared at the room a bit longer before realizing you must have looked very stupid with that astonished look on your face.
“Is this your office, Manager Chen?” You asked.
“Yes. It seems that you like it,” She chuckled. You felt the heat rise to your ears.
“Since you’ll be working so close to me, I’m sure you’ll be happy to come here more often.”
“Thanks.” You awkwardly laughed. You blamed your bad response on the fact that you still weren’t familiar with the language, not your blatant awkwardness.
Manager Chen made her way over to her desk, picking up a small stack of papers. “These are some letters I’ve received from several designer companies in China. Since we are still in the very preliminary stages of this project, we would like to keep our options open for the stylists here.” She picks an annotated letter from the pile. “I’ve translated and created a summary of the main points of this letter. There are a few more left which I believe I can trust you with. Just do as I did with this letter and add the sample pictures along with it.”
You quickly complied, taking the stack of papers from her hands.
“I’ll show you to your new work space.” She led you out of your office and over to a cubicle that wasn’t too far away. It was considerably smaller compared to Manager Chen’s office, but you thought it had a certain coziness to it. Plus, working close to your coworkers could also boost your motivation. “Here is your desk, it’s not the most exciting thing, but you may bring photos or whatnot to decorate it. Now, I’ll let you settle in and get started on your work. You can meet me at my office around six, I can double check your work before we leave.”
You thanked her before she left and immediately got started on your work. You diligently translated the whole of the letters before picking out the main points that matched with Manager Chen’s example. After this was done, you included the photos that came with each letter and slipped them into their own cozy folder. This work was monotonous, sure, but it was something you needed on your hectic first day here.
You were so captivated by your work that you completely forgot about the time. The sun was starting to set, and you only remembered to look at the time after you tucked your last letter neatly in its folder. You briefly panicked, praying that you weren’t making your manager wait. Thankfully, it was only a quarter until six. You took the next fifteen minutes double checking your work, making sure to also check the time every once in a while. At exactly six, you left your desk and scurried over to the big doors of Manager Chen’s office.
Knocking a couple times, you waited patiently to be let in.
“Come in.”
You let yourself in, handing the papers to your manager, then sat quietly in one of the chairs before her desk, crossing your fingers together. You fiddled with your thumbs, patiently waiting for Manager Chen to speak up.
“Not bad, this is some decent work.” Manager Chen announced as soon as she finished glossing over your work. “I’ve noted some places that you can either fix or improve. I’ll scan them and hand you a copy tomorrow.”
You let out a breath that you didn’t know you were holding. A tidal wave of relief washed over you as you let yourself relax further into your chain. Not bad, this is some decent work. You proudly repeated this moment in your brain. Although you were disappointed with the mistakes that you let slip through, to get somewhat of a compliment on your first day meant a lot to you.
“Shall we get going now?” Manager Chen asked.
You grabbed your bag and stood up. “I’ll let you lead the way.”
                                                         _______
It seemed like all you were doing on your first day was following Manager Chen around like a lost puppy. The situation right now was no exception either, as you tried to copy her confident strides over to the restaurant a block down. You watched the busy rush hour streets and sidewalks fill with people, some people going home after a long day, some people going to party just like you.
Soon, after a few more minutes of walking, the both of you arrived at the small wooden doors of the restaurants. It seemed like the both of you were a bit late as Manager Kim was already waiting in front of the entrance with the rest of the team. Bang Chan was also there, head down looking at his phone.
“Sorry we’re late, have you been waiting for long?” Manager Chen somehow sounded confident despite making everybody wait on her.
Her voice seemed to have caught everybody’s attention. You watched as Bang Chan swiftly turned his head up from his phone, his eyes making contact with yours. You immediately focused your eyes somewhere else, trying to casually play off the fact that your eyes subconsciously drifted to him.
“We’ve only been waiting for a couple minutes.” Manager Kim gave a tight smile. “Let’s go in before you all get too cold.”
Your little group of around ten people slowly entered the doors, filling the restaurant. Manager Kim called over a waitress, signaling that you had ten people in your group, and let the waitress lead you all to a long wooden table.
The restaurant was nice, nothing too fancy, but that’s how you could tell the food was good. With dim lighting and tightly packed tables, it made you feel fuzzy and warm on the inside.
However, your thoughts on the restaurant were soon broken by a hand on your shoulder.
“Y/n, why don’t you sit with me?” Manager Kim’s lips curled up, “After all, this is a work gathering, how good of a boss would I be if I didn’t even treat my newest team member to a drink?”
Your brain was in shambles. You seriously didn’t feel comfortable sitting with him all night. However, the logical side of your brain was saying something different. He’s just being nice as a boss. You don’t know how people in this country act anyways, stop being paranoid.
It seemed like your inner turmoil was taking longer than necessary, as you heard another familiar voice speak up.
“Manager Kim-” Bang Chan called out.
“You don’t need to sit with me here, Bang Chan.” Manager Kim chuckled as he stared directly in Bang Chan’s eyes. “I’d rather not talk about work outside the office.”
You watched as Bang Chan’s eyebrows furrowed, looking back to you in reluctance. You smiled at him before turning your attention to Manager Kim. It was just one night, right? Plus, there’s no harm in establishing a good impression with your boss.
“I’ll sit with you, Manager Kim.” You smiled, “thanks for offering.”
And so, you took your seat next to Manager Kim at the table. Bang Chan, who was to your left, looked askance at Manager Kim for a brief second before his facial expression did a complete 180. His familiar, boy-ish smile was plastered on his face like it was the most natural thing.
When the menus came, everybody at the table — including you — started to order onslaughts of food and alcohol. After brief moments of casual chatter about topics such as the weather or how good the food was here, everything that was ordered arrived at your table.
You grabbed a can of beer and started sipping on it. You’ve drank before — of course — with your old friends at university, but it’s been at least a year since you last did. Better ease myself in. You thought.
However, your preconceived plans were ruined when a small glass of clear liquor got pushed in front of you.
“Y/n, surely you aren’t going to sip on that can all night.” The ends of Manager Kim’s lips curled up.
“Wasn’t planning to, sir.” You replied while tipping the glass up and into your mouth. The bitter liquid burned your throat as it went down. You took a moment to recollect your surroundings. Seems like your tolerance was higher than you thought.
“Bang Chan, do you not drink? Why not eat something then?” Manager Chen pointed to the food on the table.
“No can do ma’am, I’m on a strict diet. My manager would kill me.” Bang Chan pointed to his glass of water.
“In that case,” Manager Chen filled another glass, “Y/n, have another drink.” She slid the glass down the table in front of you.
You gladly accepted your second drink, downing the alcohol in one go. Your eyes instinctively squeezed together as you felt your throat burn. From the tips of your ears to the ends of your toes, your whole body felt warm and alive.
You lost track of the time. As your conversations got livelier, your head got fuzzier. You stopped counting your drinks after four, especially since so many people were eager to offer the new employee a drink. Although your vision was starting to blur, you could still think straight. I can still think, you thought to yourself, still — what a powerful buzz.
Your thoughts ran rampant in your mind as you stared at the lightbulb across the room. What a pretty light. So bright. Warm.
“Y/n.”
Was the light calling your name?
“Y/n!”
Your eyes focused again and snapped away from the lightbulb. Where was the voice coming from? You slowly turned your head. Bang Chan.
“Hi.” You smiled.
“Hi.” He smiled back. So bright. Warm. “It’s been hours and I haven’t even offered you a drink yet.”
You tried to focus your eyes on his face as he slid the glass over to you. One more drink wouldn’t hurt your buzz, right?
You gladly accepted, slowly moving your hand over to the glass to pick the clear liquid up. It went down in one go just like all the others.
Huh? Was this water?
You struggled to focus your eyes on the person who offered you the drink. “That was yummy.”
“I bet it was,” the talking blur chuckled, “How about another one?”
You nodded, then took the glass he slid towards you. It’s funny how water flows even when in a cup. Water. You needed to pee.
“Hey,” your words dragged out, “where’s uh, where’s the washroom?”
“Follow me. I’ll show you.” Manager Kim stood up and reached his hand out towards you. You didn’t want to take it, but it seemed like nobody was noticing his offer.
Reluctantly, you took his hand and stood up, only to stumble down again. Did your knees not want to listen?
“Whoa there, better hold on.” Manager Kim said.
“No, I can walk. I-I can walk.” You let go of Manager Kim and tried to focus all your brainpower on moving your feet in a straight line. This tactic only worked for a second, however, as your knees gave in and you stumbled down.
“It’s obvious that you can’t.” Manager Kim’s lips turned up. “It’s time for you to go home. I’ll take you back.”
What? No. You didn’t want Manager Kim to take you home, not after all the awkward events of today and the general vibe from him. You tried to express your thoughts, but nothing came out of your mouth.
“Manager Kim, you’ve been drinking!” Bang Chan’s voice came from some part of the room. “It’s not safe to drive, I’ll call a taxi for you.”
“What about Y/n here? I’ll get a taxi for us both.” Manager Kim said.
“I called my manager earlier to pick me up, we can drop her off along the way. It’s not a good idea to put two drunk people in a car. I’m completely sober right now, so let me do all the work.” Bang Chan grinned, patting Manager Kim on his shoulder.
“Is that what you want, Y/n?” Manager Kim glared.
You dizzily nodded.
“Alright. In that case, I can call my own taxi later.” Manager Kim grimaced.
“Stay safe, Manager Kim.” Bang Chan smiled. He turned to you. “My manager’s been waiting outside for a while now, do you want to leave now?”
You nodded. You tried to start walking again, but your damn knees just wouldn’t listen.
“Do you want to hold on to me?” Bang Chan knitted his brows together and held out an arm.
“I,” you slurred, “can walk.” You tried to start your feet again, only to end up stumbling down.
“I know you can,” Bang Chan said as he reached his hands out to stabilize you, “but — ah —  I’m really tired after today. Can you hold on to my arm so I won’t fall out of exhaustion?”
You agreed to help him. Bang Chan waved to everybody still at the table before leading the two of you out to a black SUV. He allowed you to stumble your way in the back seats first before sliding in himself. He asked you for your address, which took many tries for you to accurately type it into his phone.
You leaned your head against the window, staring at passing blurred lights as Bang Chan’s manager started driving. Just being away from the loud and bright environment seemed to have cleared your head a little, but the pounding would not stop. You cursed yourself for being so irresponsible on your first day, especially because you were still alone in this new country.
“Hey,” you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder, “want some water?” You looked over to see Bang Chan holding out a plastic bottle with the lid screwed off.
You languidly reached your hand out for the bottle and gulped down as much water as you could in one breath before handing it back to him. The street lights started getting blurrier as you tried to fight exhaustion, the muscles in your eyelids starting to get more and more uncontrollable.
“Y/n.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t fall asleep yet, we’re almost there. Ten more minutes.”
You couldn’t hear anything after that, however, as you felt your eyes give up on you and your body fall into a deep sleep.
“Y/n… Y/n.” A familiar voice called.
You fluttered your eyes open, your head pounding. Not knowing where you were, you surveyed your surroundings in a panic. It seemed as though you were in the back of a car… Parked outside of your apartment building?
“Hey, you’re finally awake.” Bang Chan’s voice entered your ear. It all came rushing back to you; the restaurant, the drinking, entering the SUV.
“How long have we been parked here?” Your groggy voice sounded inhuman. You had to clear your throat a couple times.
“It’s only been twenty or so minutes. I’m not allowed to leave the car, are you able to get home alone? I can ask my manager to go with you.” Bang Chan scratched the back of his neck.
“I should be fine.” You mumbled, a bit embarrassed to have fallen asleep in the car of a person you just met that day. This wasn’t even his car, it was his manager’s.
“Hey… can I put my number in your phone?” Bang Chan avoided your eyes. “Just so you can tell me when you get home.” He quickly added.
“Okay.” You awkwardly handed him your phone with your contacts already opened. He quickly typed his phone number in before handing it back to you.
“Text me when you get home. Remember to lock your door, okay?”
You thank both him and his manager before hurrying back to your apartment. Your head was still pounding unrelentlessly as you pressed the elevator button for your floor. The events of today were still unprocessed in your brain. You met a potential friend, which was a highlight. However, you also met two higher up managers and an actual idol, only to get hilariously drunk in the presence of. At least it’ll make a good story to tell my mom. You thought.
In no time, you made it in your apartment and locked the door behind you, remembering what Bang Chan told you in the car. You texted the new number in your phone.
Y/n: Hi. It’s y/n. I just entered my apartment.
Not even a minute later, your phone lit up, signaling a new text message.
Bang Chan: great!! remember to lock the doooor hahaha ( ◕ω◕✿ )
You subconsciously grin at your phone. Cute. Throwing your phone haphazardly on your bed, you begrudgingly began your night routine. After washing up and throwing on a random shirt from your closet, you fell on your bed ready to sleep. You were about to close your eyes when your phone lit up again with a ding. It was another text.
Bang Chan: Hey… Just so you know, if you ever feel unsafe around the office just tell me okay? I’ll always try to help you in whatever way I can.

↳  I was hoping it'd be different when I saw you but it feels the same
Never changed
I was certain I'd flushed you out my system
But you're printed in my DNA

Your head slammed onto the desk as a wave of exhaustion washed through you. Professors enjoy assigning all of this work and expect it to be completed promptly. Sadly, I'm not a genie who can just wish it away.
When you turned around to face your roommate, who seemed to be in the same situation as you, a low growl came from her throat. To see if she was awake, you threw a pen at her back.
Without even looking up a small moan struggled to come out as she turned to face you.
As you stared at the disheveled state in front of you, a gasp echoed from your throat.
“Damn, you got it rough. Maybe more than me.”
She flung your pen back at you with a sly smile on her lips, dodging to the left as it hurled at your face. This was so out of character for both of you. Although both of you had great study habits in high school, junior year of college was beating your asses. Like kicking it.
You grunted as you walked over to your bed and plopped down to relieve some stress, grabbing the stray books and hurling them onto the floor
Seon-ah chuckled and twirled her pen in her chair as she examined your body, which was still but also very tense.
“Hey, how about we unwind for a while and maybe get a bite to eat? You know food will give us more energy and willpower to finish these last few class assignments. What do you say?"
She closed her eyes and crossed her fingers in an attempt to sway you. Fortunately, you just let her win today, as shown by your growling stomach. For most days, you wouldn't eat or take a rest until all of your work was completed. Was it beneficial to you? Perhaps not, but it did motivate you to complete the task quickly.
You propelled yourself up and toward your laptop, raising a fist in the air.
“What a great idea, Seon-ah; how about some pizza? I'll pay for it.”
As a thank you, she squealed and jumped up and down in her chair, giving you spontaneous heart signals.
You smiled as you rolled your eyes at her and turned your attention to the computer in front of you. It was almost as though you could taste it. The buttery fluffy crust melting in your mouth as the various spices and flavors swirl around inside. Anyway...
“I'm getting our usual Moe's pizza with pineapple and pepperoni. Will be in 15 minutes. Let the break time commence ”
Seon-ah spun around and looked at you with a worried expression on her face.
"This is not the Hunger Games, Y/N?”
You threw your pillow at her as she laughed and walked over to her side of the room, sitting down on the bed, resting her eyes.
“Wake me up when the food arrives; in the meantime, I'll get some beauty rest.”
You snickered as you returned your gaze to your phone, which you had started idly scrolling through on social media, silently saying.
“You could use it.”
“Hey, I heard that.”
Tumblr media
Rather than waiting in your bed, you could wait near the door for easier access to the food. When you turned around and saw that Seon-ah was still sleeping, you decided to wake her up when you returned with the goodies.
You quickly gather your slides, key card, and phone, as well as a few dollars for the tip. Before heading down to the lobby to get your food, you double-checked to see if the door was locked.
You put your earbuds in and press play on your latest playlist, which included some of your favorite tracks. On the way to the downstairs lobby you did a little jig.
As you came off the stairwell, a pair of men's eyes fell on you. Not only were you dancing a little too good, but you never expected to see this person in a while. When you began walking over to him, he smiled and grinned as you quickly removed your earbuds.
“Hey there... Long time no see. I hope you didn't witness that."
He laughed and shook his head as he waved his hand at you.
“How are you doing? I saw some of it, sadly. Wonderful moves.”
It felt like your heart was racing faster than normal, something it didn't usually do unless you were taking a test. However, as you stared at him longer, things began to seep back into your heart.
You coughed and rubbed the back of your neck, trying to say something to ease the awkward tension in the air.
“So-”
“Wha-”
He laughed at you and extended his hand to you, signaling that you should begin.
“What brings you here, Joshua, at this fateful hour of ten o'clock?”
He sighed and cocked his head to the side, a habit you're never tired of seeing.
“Well, Jeonghan and I wanted to order pizza, and he agreed that I should wait downstairs for it. I think he just wanted to stay in the dorm, like a lazy ass.
You chortled.
“You did always say he was some lazy bum, but I'm shocked you stuck with him this long.”
Joshua sighed as he remembered all of the times he spent with Jeonghan and his other friends, a time when you and he were never apart.
We're going to be late for orientation if you don't hurry up, Y/N.” You mentally flipped him off and dashed out of your dorm, trying to keep all of your things in your arms as you slammed the door shut.
“Josh, you should have given me another 5 minutes.”
“An extra five minutes would have put us late, and well we...., I can't afford that
“Oh shut up Hong, shall we bring up the Milk situation, or are you done?”
Joshua came to a complete stop and rolled his eyes at you as he waited for you to catch up to him. As you laughed, he softly shoved you.
“I thought I told you not to bring that up anymore, and Seungcheol texted me and told us to meet them at the square,”
You laughed as you shook your head and grabbed Joshua's hand, pulling him towards the door.
“Well, we'd better get moving. Mr. 5 Minutes,”
He looked up from his sullen expression when he saw you looking at him. He blushed when he realized you were here, rather than in his memories
“Well, before I tell you how I'm doing, tell me how you're doing. I believe we haven't talked since Freshman year. A time"
You coughed and tapped your leg quickly, avoiding Joshua's eyes as you crossed over to the chair on the other side of him and sat down to get a closer look at him while mentally preparing some responses.
“You're right; I'm not sure why I'm so jittery. It's not like we were best friends at one point in our lives.”
When you folded your hands and mentally slapped yourself, a hushed silence fell over you both.
As you started, a nervous chuckle escaped your mouth
“Anyway, remember when I told you a long time ago when I wanted to start my business. Well, Seon-ah and I we're planning to apply to the Startup Fund next week for more details. If you know someone who enjoys such things, please forward this message to them.”
Joshua turned his body to face you further and shook his head, watching as your hand movement flowed as you continued to speak about the business concept. It's as if you two reconnected on a more simple level.
You looked up to see him studying your hand movement patterns, which made you come to a halt while you folded your hands as you turned away from his eyes.
“I apologize for rambling; I just get too excited talking about this with someone other than Seon-ah.”
“No, it's all right. You can proceed; I missed this.”
A gulp ran down his throat as he coughed, signaling that he needed some water. He excused himself and walked a few feet away from the lobby to the water fountain.
Great going Josh
You stood there watching as he walked over to the water fountain, hearing some mumbling but not understanding what he was saying. Instead of focusing on him, you turned your attention to yourself.
Y/N, you’re acting like a fool. He is, well was your friend. It's complicated, you know Joshua.
When you remembered why you were here, you felt a wave of calm wash over you. The DAMN PIZZA. You leapt to your feet and quickly opened your phone, where you discovered a text message.
Food is Delivered.
You let out a squeal as you walked over to the door and checked to see if the Pizza car was still waiting for you. You walked over to the car, gleefully handing him the money and thanking him for the meal.
You swiped your card and walked in the entrance, oblivious to Joshua and preoccupied with the food you were about to consume. You noticed something out of the corner of your eye as you heard him say.
“Y/N, what happened to us?
Tumblr media
As a single tear fell from your eyes, you came to a halt and sighed, trying to catch your breath. You brushed it away and slowly turned to Joshua, feeling down and disappointed that your pizza had to wait.
As you began to approach Joshua, you let out a long-awaited sigh. You and he were like best friends for a long time. You'd meet in your freshman year of college and clicked right away. He not only exhibited a gentleman's aura, but he was also very accommodating and polite when you first met him. Despite the fact that he had some noisy and strange friends, they added to the magic.
Although life seemed to be so fine and enjoyable for you, things soon became hectic.
It was the day before your class's annual retreat to Jeju Island, where all Sophomores attended. Unfortunately, your presentation lasted longer than anticipated, and you were forced to give it on the day they all left. You weren't upset because this was something you'd always wanted to do, and you could see the possibilities opening up if you succeeded.
For Joshua, though, this was a missed opportunity to tell you how he felt about your relationship. His heart was in the right place, but the wording was incorrect. You'd stopped by his dorm to borrow a few things before heading to class.
“Why don't you just miss this one and come along with us on this trip?” You're going to miss out on all the fun we're having.”
You scoffed when you turned around.
“You know I can't do that; this presentation is half of my grade, and it has the potential to greatly expand my business opportunities.”
He chuckled and rolled his eyes without pausing to reflect.
“Why waste your time."
You turned around, stunned at what he had just said, and stopped looking for a jacket.
"Excuse me, wasting my time. Unlike you, I am not well-off and do not come from a wealthy family. There are still people who still have to struggle for their goals. I apologize if this is a "waste of time," but this is a serious matter and a dream of mine. You know what, fuck you and your jacket. I'll ask Seon-ah."
You rolled your eyes and walked out the door, completely deaf to his summons.
“I didn't mean it that way; I merely-”
You came to a halt and yelled back at him.
“Why don’t you just enjoy this “once in a lifetime trip” without me, and when you come back just go on without your life. I guess my priorities and life are now meaningful enough for you."
As you ran to your dorm, you shed a tear as your heart was crushed. Your last ray of hope for each other was shattered. You couldn't love someone who didn't understand the importance of your dream
The rain began to fall as you rushed into your dorm hall, weeping. At the very least, you had faith in yourself, and that is all that matters.
“If you're thinking about that incident, you should know that I didn't mean what I said at the time. That was a huge mistake on my part, and sophomore Joshua was a dick, and I really want to apologize for it. I didn't know how important this was to you until seeing it up close. I can see now how dedicated and enthusiastic you are about your business. And I genuinely want to say I am so sorry for the way I behave. That still doesn't help me understand why we didn't, you know, get back together as friends.
As you quickly turned away from him, a tear spilled from your eye, which you quickly wiped away. You smiled and raised your eyes to him. His gaze was still drawn to your altered demeanor. That was one of his best qualities: he could always tell when you weren't feeling yourself.
“Hey, if it's too difficult for you to talk about, we can just forget about it and go our separate ways, if that what ”
You went on, waving your hand at him and taking a breath.
“Well, I can only tell you my side of the story; I have no idea why. I guess I didn't mean it when I told you to stay out of my life. I guess I got caught up in the midst of it all. Even though I nailed the presentation, I apologize for blowing up at you. I know you were trying to help me relax, but sophomore me mistook it for you trying to restrain me.”
As you began to choke up your words, your breath began to hitch in your throat. Joshua came up to you and put his hand on your shoulder, attempting to calm you down.
You leaped to your feet and backed away from him, wiping tears from your eyes, trying to catch your breath.
“Please-ee, just stop. Stop doing that .”
"Doing what Y/N, what is going on?"
“Why aren't you angry at me if, stop being so nice to me?"
As soon as you saw him move, you fell to your knees, weeping. He was embracing you and turning your head to see what was wrong quickly. You started spitting out words he couldn't understand. He kissed you instead of trying to learn.
“Wha-”
He cupped your face with his hands as you held on to his shirt for support. Something inside of you just exploded, and it felt as though your heart had been set free. You took a step back and realized he was tearing up. As you brushed away the stray tears. You gazed into his brown eyes as he cupped your hands and kissed them.
“I've always wanted to do that; forgive me for not asking first.
“No, it's fine; in truth, that's something I've always wanted to do.”
He gasped as he processed what you had just said and looked up at you.
“Wait, don't say you had a thing for me.”
You chuckled as you brushed away the remaining tears with your sleeve and walked back to the coach section.
“Yes, Joshua, literally half the campus has had a crush on Mr. Gentleman, although you are definitely the opposite sometimes. "
“Hey, don't try to ruin my reputation around here,” he said, laughing. “I am undoubtedly a gentleman.”
You rolled your eyes and chuckled at his expression for a few more minutes, just soaking up the newfound bond that had just re-emerged.
Before you could take your gaze away from him, he shook his head and found your staring eyes. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into another embrace. You had a big smile on your face the whole time, holding him tightly.
“So are we good, 'cause you were definitely into that kiss."
You slapped his chest and peered up from his chest.
“Yeah, we're good, friends again.” You extended your hand to him, and he enthusiastically shook it.
"Also I was thinking we can be more than friends."
You stopped breathing for a second and processed his request, you laughed and shoved him.
"You’ve gotta ask me out properly. I'm going to forget you said that and be more surprised when you ask again."
Joshua nodded his hand and went in for another hug. Your hand abruptly landed on his chest as you remembered.
“WAIT, OUR FOOD."
You turned around and dashed to the once-steamy box, only to find a cold but still warm pizza waiting for you. You peered at Joshua, who dashed out the door and returned with his dinner, smiling fondly at you.
“I forgot we came to get our food; I've got to get this to Seon-ah; she's probably awake and hungry.”
He grinned and walked up to you, kissing your forehead before taking your hand in his and directing you to take the lead. You laughed and blushed with embarrassment when he finally saw you in all your glory.
You hastily dragged him up the stairwell and toward your dorm. You were both awkwardly still, not wanting this moment to end. You lifted your head from your trembling hands and kissed his nose before waving goodbye and entering your room. You slid to the ground, pondering what the HELL just happened.
Joshua, on the other hand, pumped a fist in the air and headed back to his dorm, grinning from ear to ear!
You regained control and put the pizza down as you stepped forward to see a groggy Seon-ah waking up, rubbing her eyes, and yawning at you.
"Damn you took a long time, did they get our order wrong? You had better not eat without me."
You chuckled and pushed the box to the center of the table, taking a breath as you tried to process what had just happened.
“Oh, I've got something to tell you while you eat. You have no idea who I just ran into. Come closer, it's going to be a good one.

Hiiii can i request a hcs for akaashi, iwa and oikawa where they secretly have a crush on their childhoodfriend!reader for so long and they panic when the reader got asked out by someone that they can't stand? I hope this makes sense👉🏼👈🏼🥺 ty so much in advance i really love the way you describe things in your writing💓💓💓💓
longtime crush + childhood friend!reader being asked out by another hcs with akaashi, iwaizumi, and oikawa
genre(s): angst oops
warning(s): nope!
a/n: hey so you didn’t specify how you wanted it to end so i just left that open-ended ?? hopefully it meets your expectations haha :D also i may have gone a little ham with akaashi’s im sor ry
[akaashi]
akaashi tried to accept the fact that you just might slip out of his grasp–– he really did
it’d always made more sense for him to just go with the flow, letting things happen to him instead of making them occur himself, because he trusted that there was a logical explanation for everything that happened
but the insane, paralysing ice that was spreading through his chest at the moment did not make sense
your text had sent five minutes ago and akaashi felt like he hadn’t breathed since. his brain was going haywire
y/n: soooo maeda asked me out today
he started typing out his response for the third time, paused, deleted, started typing again... paused, deleted. was there any way to make “say no and go out with me instead” sound less selfish? less… demanding?
trying to retain even the smallest bit of logic, every possible outcome to his text played vividly through his brain
option a: studying for math tests separately. no more after-practice snacks at the 7/11 near school. he starts mornings a bit later now that he can’t stop by your house first. you tell kinda funny lame jokes to maeda instead. bokuto slings one arm around akaashi’s shoulder and ignores how the other just hangs awkwardly now. your teacher stops calling your mom to complain about how much you talk in class–– she complains about your falling japanese literature grades. no more “good luck akaashi”s before every game. you avert your eyes in the hallways. he misses you every day.
option b: a kiss for every problem you both get right. holding hands as you stroll into the 7/11 near school. he starts mornings even earlier by having breakfast at your house. maeda watches him with envy from afar. bokuto third wheels behind you. your teacher starts calling your mom to complain about akaashi. you wear his jersey and kiss him before saying “good luck akaashi” at every game. you wink in the hallways. you love him back.
the wave of jealousy that had washed over him whispered in his ear that not telling you to say no wasn’t an option–– in fact, seeing you with anyone else but him wasn’t up for discussion
with your conversation a blur through his panicked eyes, his fingers made the decision for him
keiji: you should say no and go out with me instead
if akaashi had been as collected as he typically was, he would have seen that in the time he spent weighing his options, you’d sent a second and third text
y/n: i said no btw
y/n: i like someone else haha
[iwaizumi]
iwaizumi had never been the type to wear his heart on his sleeve–– he preferred his affection to hint at itself through his words and actions, no matter how ambiguous they were
still, the creeping suspicion that all of his affection had been lost in translation burrowed itself in his head when he walked into the cafeteria during lunch and saw you laughing beside another seijoh third year–– some guy he remembered to have heckled oikawa at a game before
discreetly, he walked past your table from behind, trying to gain an idea of what the guy could’ve possibly been saying to make you beam like that
“.... bowling on friday maybe? are you into that?”
iwaizumi blinked as he passed. were you being asked out?
suddenly the only thing he could hear was his own blood pounding against his eardrums— only broken through by his own voice telling him to keep walking, keep walking, keep walking
he felt completely lost. was it too late to start laughing at your jokes instead of merely smirking and rolling his eyes? was it too late to text “sweet dreams y/n” instead of “go to bed it’s late”? was it too late to start greeting you by wrapping you in his arms instead of ruffling your hair? but he’d been doing that since you were both children…
“hajime!” you called out once lunch ended, bouncing over to his side, “you’ll never guess what happened”
“hmm?” he asked, struggling to keep his composure
“i got asked out by yamamoto”
iwaizumi swallowed uncomfortably and crossed his arms over his chest. “oh.”
“you’re not gonna ask if i said yes?”
he stayed silent, unsure if he even wanted to know
your face fell just a little bit. “y’know, hajime, sometimes i wonder if you even care about me.” you’d meant for it to come out playfully, though he could hear that you were upset
the voice in his head spoke up again— say it. say it. say it.
so he did
[oikawa]
oikawa felt like you’d pulled the rug out from underneath him when your note said that you wouldn’t be walking home with him that day because you were going on a date
with his mortal enemy, not to mention
all his life, he’d grown up with you at his side: from the schoolyard swing set where you’d compete to see who could swing the highest to the middle school gym where he took you to junior high prom to class 6 in aoba johsai where he’d often find his eyes gravitating to you every so often
he’d thought you would, like the earth does with the sun, revolve around him forever and, similarly, he’d also thought that he had forever to tell you that he loved you–– that he’d loved you for so long that he’d forgotten at what point his feelings even began. and until today, he’d thought that you loved him too
but now, as his chestnut eyes scanned over the note again just to make sure he wasn’t imagining anything, it finally registered in his brain that if he didn’t make a move now, oikawa tooru was going to lose you
from the table beside him, you watched as he blinked in shock. a curious look flitted over your face. that was not the reaction you’d anticipated
“lol are you surprised that someone actually finds me attractive??” you wrote on another slip of paper, sliding it on top of the original note on oikawa’s desk
you’d expected a reply seconds later, something along the lines of his usual snark, something like “ofc not even shrek found love”
but his reply never came
in fact, oikawa remained silent for the rest of the class, absent-mindedly fiddling with your first note between his fingers as he stared ahead, mind most definitely lost elsewhere, only returning to the present once the bell rang for lunch
“tooru,” you called out after him in the hallway, “what’s wrong?”
“why?” he asked, gesturing to your note in his hand. “why him?”
you furrowed your brows. “what do you mean? he’s nice”
“and me? am i not nice?”
it became a lot clearer to you that, perhaps, what he was really asking was: why not me?
you’d always had an inkling that there was something that tiptoed between the lines of your friendship with oikawa–– something that surfaced as gazes caught red-handed and then locked, as hugs that lasted a beat longer than most, as rare glances into the hidden universe inside his mind
you were just too afraid to jeopardise your oldest friendship for a feeling that might not have even been returned
but as oikawa stood there in front you with his eyes wide with imploration, knuckles white around your note, it suddenly struck you that maybe–– just maybe, not all was as hopeless as it seemed

[~*~]
Iida sat at the kitchen table, smiling to himself as he thought about the day’s activities and drank his special orange juice. It was an expensive brand, so he was only allowed to have it on special occasions, and his birthday was certainly one of them. His parents had planned to host his party in the evening after work so they could be there, along with the rest of their family. As for the day’s activities, Iida would spend the whole day hanging out with his brother, and his two honorary Uncles, Aizawa and Yamada. Iida had offered to help with the decorations, planning, organizing and everything but he’d been forced by his parents to sit back and relax for once. It was his birthday, after all.
(Tenya one day protested at the nickname, pointing it didn’t make sense call them ‘Uncles’ since they aren’t blood related. However, his parents explained that this was just a way to express fondness and closeness for someone you care about. The younger one began to call them uncles with more frequency, except on social gatherings)
Iida finished his breakfast quickly, though he savored the last of his special juice. He was beyond excited to be able to spend the day with his brother and uncles, he didn’t get to do that very often since their work took up most of their time. He was putting his dishes away when the doorbell rang. He answered the door, a polite smile on his face, about to greet his guests. The smile quickly faded.
There stood his two honorary Uncles, Aizawa and Hizashi. They were standing there with mischievous smirks on their faces, sending shivers down Iida’s spine.
“Hello! ~” Hizashi chirped.
Hearing the sinister undertone of his uncle’s voice, Iida slammed the door in his face and backed away. He winced at how disrespectful that had been, but at the moment he valued his safety over his manners. But actually, he wasn’t anxious about what they were going to do. They were always nice and kind with him, making him smile and enjoy himself to give him a break from trying to be perfect, which he couldn’t. (Something they wondered if he’d ever learn.)
Tensei came into view as he quickly walked into the room, giving his little brother a smile as he ran into him. “Who’s at the door?” he asked.
“Uncles!” Tenya said, trying to move around him but being stopped by his brother’s hand on his shoulder. He frowned, blushing as he thought of his impending fate, which was all the more evident now that Tensei was here and would most definitely be on their side. “They are going to do the hideous tr-tradition that you started when I was a kid!” he said, or rather, whined, stumbling over his words.
Tensei laughed, and Tenya pouted, though he’d deny that till the end of time.
“Oh, yeah! I forgot about that! It’s so nice of them to help me to remember our wonderful little tradition, isn’t it?”
“No! Far from it! Pro-heroes like you shouldn’t be committing such em-embarrassing, hideous acts in the first place, even l-less repeating it yearly!”
“Aww, you’re stuttering! You’re excited, aren’t you?” Tensei asked, smiling knowingly. His little brother could verbally protest all he wanted, but the eager gleam in his eyes gave him away. He ignored the squeaked “NO!” he got in responde and smiled even wider. Tenya made a move to leave, but Tensei grabbed him around the waist and held him close.
“You know, since they’re being so kind by helping us remember our tradition, it’s only fair that we let them participate, right?” Tensei asked, holding onto Tenya tighter as the nearing footsteps made him struggle all the more, trying to get away. “HEY, GUYS! THE BIRTHDAY BOY IS HERE!” he called.
“Tensei!” But the boy was already smiling, squirming excitedly on his brother’s hold, especially when a loud, happy ‘YEAHHH!’ boomed through the house.
“No, no! This is betrayal! Deception! Dishonesty! Trickery! Treason!”
Tensei laughed. “Now you’re just reciting the dictionary!” he said, no hint of regret in his voice, distractedly nodding at his uncles when they appeared at the door. “Look,” he whispered conspiratorially, “I need you to distract them until Shouta lets his guard down so I can sneak up on him. Hizashi would never pass up an opportunity to tickle him too, so while we’re doing that you go run and get something to bribe them with, okay?”
The younger gasped, quickly nodding.
“Right. So, are you ready for your part of the plan, sidekick?”
“YES!” Iida shouted, chopping the air. Tensei squeezed his side to remind him to be quiet, but that only made him squeal. Thankfully, the two men who were walking towards them didn’t seem to catch on to their conversation.
“Now, now. It seems like a certain little listener here is excited for birthday tickles!” Hizashi said, wiggling his fingers in his direction. “Oh! They grow up so fast!” he said, putting a hand on his chest and sighing longingly. “It feels like it was just yesterday that we were playing heroes! And I, the evil LoudChaos, would be defeated by Ingenium Junior and his vicious attacks of kicking his pillows at me!” The blonde ruffled his honorary nephew’s hair and then pinched his cheek playfully, grinning at the groan he got in response.
Iida batted his hand away and faced the two of them, a determined look on his face. “You will never be able to crack me, villains! Not even with embarrassing childhood memories!” he said, gesturing energetically.
“I don’t know about that,” Tensei said, smirking. “I can think of plenty myself, like the time we had to buy at least three more of your favorite plushie because you wouldn’t let us wash the original one was pretty funny- ack! Hey, hey!” Tensei snickered as he tried to dodge from Tenya’s warning kicks, “I was kidding! I was kidding!”
“Want me to hold him?” Aizawa asked nonchalantly, a small quirk of his mouth showing his amusement about the whole situation. At Tensei’s affirmative nod he quickly grabbed Tenya’s wrists and held them above his head with one hand. He smirked at his nervous nephew, who was trying to fight a smile. He ruffled his hair. “Congrats on being another year closer to death, brat. You’re twelve, so that means you’ve got...what, seventy eight more to go?” he asked.
Tenya’s face deadpanned, unamused.
“Ooh, right, twelve!” Hizashi’s fingers were teasingly getting closer, slowly and then even slower, almost touching a spot before pretending to launch at others, resulting in kicks and muffled shrieks from the younger one. “You know what that means, right, Shou?”
“Yep. We’ll have to tickle him for twelve years.”
“Aw, what a pity.”
“No! Lies! That is incorrect!”
“Oh really, not-so-little listener? Please, enlighten us.”
“According to the silly and foolish tradition that you insist on doing every year, you should tickle me for twelve entire minutes. One minute for each year,” Iida said automatically, going into school-mode, unaware that he was only sealing his impending doom. “That’s how it’s always been done.”
Aizawa and Yamada exchanged an amused look, while Tensei was doing his best to hold back his laughter. His little brother was just too precious.
“I don’t think I heard you correctly. We should, what?” Aizawa asked, his voice emotionless. questioned.
“Tickle me!” Tenya repeated, then gasped, realizing what they’d just tricked him into saying.
“Well, if you insist!” Hizashi said, then attacked. He reached out and used his skilled fingers to tickle and tickle every spot he could reach.
There were fingers dancing on his ribs and poking his stomach. There were agonizingly ticklish scribbles and pokes and prodding at his sides, and even a couple squeezes on his knee.
Iida squealed and burst into loud laughter, squirming in his tickler’s grip. The anticipation made him skip the giggles and just laugh right away. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
A lazy and almost unbearably light touch drew shapes on his neck, then scribbled over to his ears and then all the way back to his collarbone, going from one side to another, over and over again. And no matter how much he scrunched his neck, that did nothing to deter the tickle monster.
“Coochie coochie coo, little listener!”
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NOHOHOHOHOHO!”
That unbearably embarrassing tease brought his focus back to his more aggressive tickler, who was currently targeting his armpits. His loud laughter, mixed with squeaks, yelps and guffaws at the mix of soft and aggressive tickles made him almost forget the teasing completely. Almost.
“Have a tickle, tickle here!” He shook his head, trying to dislodge the fingers on his neck as his sides were squeezed. “And tickle, tickle, tickle there!” Spidering, tickly fingers on his shoulder blades made him squirm all the more. “Have all the tickles! Tickly, tickly, tickles here, there, and everywhere!”
“YOHOHOHOU WILL NOT DEFEHEHEAT ME!” Tenya shrieked, grinning from ear to ear as chuckles and giggles spilled freely from him.
‘I have to stay strong!’ he thought. ‘I have to keep them distracted so Tensei can get Uncle Shouta!’
That was why he wasn’t fighting back much. He knew he could get away if he really wanted to. It certainly wasn’t because he enjoyed the silly, playful attention and affection from his uncles.
“Of course we will,” Shouta said, pausing to check the timer. “We still have five minutes left. I’m sure you’ll surrender eventually.”
“Nehehehehever!” Iida giggled, taking in several large breaths when his Uncle Hizashi decided to give him a break, leaving only the light tickles from Uncle Shouta to keep the smile on his face. But the break lasted only a moment.
“Hey, hey, hey, little listener!” Hizashi said in a sing-song voice.
Tenya knew that tone. He immediately shut his eyes tightly, a wobbly smile on his face, not noticing that the neck tickles from his other uncle had stopped.
“Aw, come on Tenya! Don’t leave me hanging! Look at me, pleaaase?”
The boy shook his head, eyes still firmly closed.
“Shoouuu, he doesn’t want to see the big, great, amazing birthday surprise I have for him! He’s so ungrateful!”
Shouta scoffed. “No, he’s smart. And besides, it’s not his fault that you’re not charming enough to get him to look at you,” he said.
Hizashi gasped dramatically. “Oh! You wound me! Friendship ended with Ereaserhead! Tensei, you’re my new best friend!” he said.
He thought for a moment, then smirked.
“Buuuut, the vacancy is still open if maybe, just maaaybe,” A wiggly finger tickled under his chin, making Tenya snort, “if a clever teenager with a cute laugh and navy blue hair decides to open his eyes…”
“Yohohou will not crahack me!”
“Please? Please, please, please please please!” Hizashi begged, punctuating every word with a poke to the boy’s tummy, getting faster and faster until finally-
“Stop!”
Iida opened his eyes, finding a very smiley Hizashi in front of him, who made a silly face. He half groaned and half giggled, the former action only due Aizawa’s renewed back tickles, of course.
“Aw, you didn’t find it funny?” The blonde crossed his arms, pretending to think about his next move. “Alright then, I know something that’ll make you laugh!”
And then, in a blink of an eye, he yanked up his nephew’s shirt and blew a gigantic raspberry on his tummy.
Tenya squealed and fell into hysterics, the sudden change in volume surprising Aizawa and making him let go for a moment. Then the man began to snort and try to fight his laughter as his other nephew, Tensei, attacked him from behind, tickling his unprotected armpits. His rumbling chuckles filled the air as Tenya fell to his knees, hugging his tummy and giggling non-stop as Yamada knelt next to him tenderly ruffled his hair, then kissed his temple before standing up. He grinned wickedly as he saw his best friend being tickled to pieces.
“Is it already Tickle Shouta hours?” he asked delightly. He cracked his knuckles and wiggled his fingers in Aizawa’s face, making a show of getting ready. He chuckled, amused, as his silly antics only made his best friend laugh even harder, covering his mouth and laying limply against Tensei, a slight blush on his face. Hizashi descended upon him with tickles, pulling his hand away and sending him into gales of laughter, his legs kicking from the silly tickles and teases he was getting.
And, as Iida laid on the cold floor, still giggling occasionally as he watched his uncle get tickled silly, he found that he didn’t actually mind this tradition. It was silly, it was foolish, and juvenile, but...it was also a lot of fun.
And it made him feel very loved.

TINA AND HER LOVE FANTASIES
1 - Tina dated a ghost in Tina and the Real Ghost (Season 5, Episode 2)
Tumblr media
The basement storage space of the restaurant has a bug infestation and Bob has an exterminator come to check it out. However, the exterminator claims the basement is haunted and refuses to treat the infestation, claiming they need to make contact with the spirit to get rid of it. Linda and the kids decide to use a Ouija board to communicate with the ghost and trap it in a shoebox to get rid of it. Using the board, they learn that the ghost is a 13-year-old boy named Jeff, which piques Tina's interest. After "trapping" Jeff in the box, Tina refuses to throw "him" out and brings him with her to school. Tammy, Jocelyn, Zeke, and Jimmy Jr. taunt Tina about the box, until Louise has them all use the Ouija board to communicate with Jeff. They become convinced Jeff is real, and through the board, learn that Jeff is cool and that he has a crush on Tina.
Tina and Jeff begin going out, earning her attention from her friends, though she has some doubts about whether Jeff is real. However, Tammy takes the box and claims that Jeff left a message written in steam on the girls' bathroom mirror that says he's breaking up with Tina and is now dating Tammy. Tina is heartbroken. The family tries to decide how to cheer Tina up and Louise reveals to the rest of the family that she controlled the Ouija board and made Jeff up, but did not anticipate that Tina would fall in love with him or that Tammy would one-up her by stealing Tina's popularity with a similar ruse.
Louise and Gene resolve to get back at Tammy by scaring her on Halloween night when the older kids plan to enter a mausoleum in the nearby cemetery. Tina surprises them by joining the group and they head into the mausoleum, which immediately shuts and traps them inside in complete darkness. Louise takes this opportunity to steal the box and fill it with bugs from the restaurant and gives it back to Tammy to open. The kids light a candle and are frightened to find a message written in blood on the mausoleum walls, allegedly from Jeff, condemning them all to Hell.
Scared, Tammy confesses that she wrote the fake breakup message and throws the box away, causing the bugs to swarm them all. Tina calms everyone down by revealing that she pretended the mausoleum door was locked and wrote the message before they arrived in ketchup to scare them, having realized long ago that Jeff was not real.
She explains that they all believed in Jeff because he was able to give them something they wanted: Tina wanted a boyfriend, Zeke wanted to believe in the afterlife, Jocelyn wanted another way to conform, and Tammy wanted Jeff as a status symbol. Tina states that they can get these things from themselves, though they all agree that Tammy is terrible. Louise is impressed that Tina pulled such a great Halloween prank on all of them.

2 - Tina dated a duck in Every Which Way but Goose (Season 9, Episode 14)
Tumblr media
When Jimmy Jr. cancels their school dance plans, Tina, discouraged by not being asked to prom by Jimmy Jr., forms an unhealthy attachment to a goose from the nearby park.
Tina's story revolves around her theme "Dance of the Living Dead" being chosen for the school dance. She goes berserk when Jimmy Jr. won't ask her to the dance (which was due to an embarrassing injury) and ends up forming a bond with a goose - she named Bruce - at the local park. This leads to the goose disrupting the dance when it followed her to school.
This is one of the rare episodes where we see Jimmy Junior being bashful of his feelings towards Tina.
During the dance, Gene and Louise find out why Jimmy Junior didn't ask Tina. While dancing, he injured his buttocks. He felt embarrassed about what Tina would think of his injury and not being able to dance with her.
“I pulled my butt muscle doing a very difficult move from Save the Last Dance. There. I said it. (sighs) It feels good not to hide my butt stuff anymore. Anyway, I can't really dance, but I'd like to try. With you.”
Tumblr media
He later sacrifices himself to save the trapped goose.

3 - Tina fell in love with a character from a Spanish audio course.
Tumblr media
In Y Tu Tina También (Season 11, Episode 16) it’s school fair time again, and Gene and Louise are training hard on throwing skills to at last put Mr Frond smack in the dunk tank. Meanwhile, Tina is suffering crippling ennui, but is lifted out of it when she is forced to listen to Spanish audio lessons in the library to improve her grade and developed an infatuation with a spanish teenage boy – or rather, the voice of a 15 years-old boy named Rodrigo recorded on a 1980s Spanish language teaching cassette someone donated to the school.

Jokes about Tina obsession for love and boys:
Also producers made a joke about Tina's very developed ability to made up romantic stories with every single boy or object she saw.
In O.T.: The Outside Toilet (Season 3, Episode 15) Gene finds an expensive talking toilet out in the woods, he falls in love with it and he and his friends decide to protect it against an evil toilet hunter who calls himself Max Flush.
Tumblr media
This is remarked in Just One of the Boyz 4 Now for Now (Season 9, Episode 1).
Tumblr media
A news report on Boyz 4 Now shows that they're having auditions for a 4th member after a new album sells poorly. While Tina is taking napkins out of the car, she bumps into Damon, a boy going to the tryouts and says it's love at first sight. Convinced she's met the love of her life, Tina decides to disguise herself as a boy and sneak into the Boyz 4 Now auditions to find him, since girls aren't allowed to go to them. Tina struggles to keep focused due to other boys at the tryouts, so she understands that she doesn't love Damon because of all the boys she fantasized about.

The Return Of Superman ~ Lee Hyukjae
Tumblr media
Donghae quickly scanned the studio as he waited for the text from Hyukjae to let him know he’d arrived. All of the boys had organised the studio so your two children could enjoy themselves whilst they rehearsed, creating hubs around the room for the cameras to film too.
“I think that’s him,” Donghae smiled as he felt his phone vibrate in his back pocket, “he says he’s just pulled up into the car park and that he has two very excited children with him.”
They all sat down and waited in anticipation as two cameramen walked in first, standing either side of the door. Jeongsu grabbed the cardboard cut outs they’d been handed to hide the cameramen with, placing them in front of the two of them, pulling down the holes that the cameras would sit in.
Their smiles soon grew as they heard two excitable giggles coming down the corridor, slipping out of their father’s hold when they realised where they were. The two of them both stopped as they reached the door, trying to pick out which of their father’s bandmates to run to first.
A few moments later, Hyukjae appeared too with several bags in his hands of toys to entertain his children. No one could have been mistaken for thinking he packed up the whole nursery to make sure they had the things they’d like with them.
“How much are you regretting this idea?” Shindong teased as he walked over to help Hyukjae out.
“I thought it would be alright to look after the two of them, but it’s only been a few hours and I’m already missing Y/N.”
He couldn’t sit down quick enough whilst Kyuhyun and Ryeowook began to entertain his son and daughter, finally taking a moment to catch his breath. He didn’t care if cameras were filming him, caring for two kids was absolutely exhausting for him.
It didn’t take long before Heechul was beside him, stretching his long legs out. “I’d love to know what went through your head when you thought you’d be able to care for the two of them.”
Watching them now with their uncles, his children seemed like absolute delights, but little did they all know what nightmares they could be at home. It took three attempts to get them out the house that morning, and even that was a good day for them.
“How about we swap for the day, I’ll do Knowing Bros and you can do this, they always behave for you,” Hyukjae groaned.
“You’ve clearly not worked with Hodong and Soogeun.”
“They can’t be as bad as those two, surely.”
As soon as he spotted the cameras, Jeongsu stood up and went over to your two children, “how about we find something to play with whilst daddy dances.”
The boys being around him was a welcome relief for Hyukjae, he’d already text you several times since you left that morning for a few days trying to figure out what to do. He’d bitterly underestimated how difficult the job was going to be.
“Why can’t we dance with you?” Your daughter asked him, folding her arms across his chest, “daddy has been teaching us some dances.”
“But doesn’t this look so much more interesting,” Jeongsu suggested, holding up the board game Siwon had brought.
Her head quickly shook, pointing across at Shindong who was beginning to set up the music. As much as he wanted to say no, the cameras were watching him, and Jeongsu knew there was no chance he could be filmed denying the two of them.
“How about this, we do one dance, if you dance better than daddy, we can all go out for dinner, but if you’re worse, you have to go home with daddy without us,” he offered.
“Being at home with daddy is rubbish without mummy,” you daughter blushed, quickly covering her mouth as a gasp came from Jeongsu.
“Don’t let daddy hear you say that.”
Ever since the two of you fell pregnant with your son, your eldest, the boys had been incredibly supportive of you both. They knew how hard it was on Hyukjae especially to balance fatherhood and his career, but he tried his best to meet the middle point.
Before Jeongsu had chance to speak again, he watched on as your daughter filled your son in with what he was doing. Jeongsu crept over to Hyukjae with a coy smile on his face, who quickly picked up on the fact that something was going on.
“How do you fancy a dance battle with your children?” Jeongsu asked him, shooting a glare across at Heechul who sniggered beside him.
“Do I even want to ask how you’ve managed to organise this?” Hyukjae asked, to which Jeongsu quickly shook his head. “There best be a good outcome in this for me, do you know how many hours they beg to learn Super Junior routines?”
Ryeowook and Kyuhyun were already back with your son and daughter, training them through the routines, making sure they knew every step. As much as he wanted to curl up into a ball and sleep, Hyukjae couldn’t let his children down.
“I guess I should go and warm up,” he sighed, pulling Donghae to one side to help him whilst the rest of the boys went over to your children. “Remind me to never underestimate how much effort Y/N puts into being a mother.”
Donghae smirked as Hyukjae began to stretch out, resting a supportive hand against his best friend’s shoulder. All of the boys were sceptical when Hyukjae suggested featuring on The Return of Superman, none more so than Donghae, who knew how much he’d struggled.
He smiled softly, “if you want to get an easy night, I suggest doing everything you can to lose this. Jeongsu’s stitched us up by bribing the kids to a night with all of us too.”
“That means I’d have eight babysitters for the night, that sounds like a dream.”
Donghae’s eyes rolled as the corners of Hyukjae’s mouth turned up into a smile. Whilst all of them adored being around your children and entertaining them, seeing Hyukjae struggle was more entertaining than anything else to all of them.
After a few minutes Jungwoon called across the studio to let the two of them know the children were ready for battle. Jeongsu had rolled their sleeves up and given them sweatbands to wear, helping them to really feel the part.
“I can’t believe this is going to air on television,” Hyukjae cried out as both his kids ran over to hug him. “Try not to show me up too much,” he warned them both, pressing soft kisses to the tops of both their heads.
“Uncle Kyuhyun said we have to play dirty to beat you.”
An innocent smile appeared on Kyuhyun’s face as Hyukjae glared up at him with a shake of his head. “When the cameras are off Uncle Kyuhyun will pay for that. We don’t battle harshly; we battle fairly like mummy and daddy taught you.”
Shindong walked over to the stereo, glossing over several of the tracks that had been recorded over the years until he found the one the kids had wanted.
The rest of the members all gathered behind the children to cheer them up, with the exception of Jeongsu who stood in front of everyone, staring across at one of the hidden cameras.
“The dance battle of the year,” he cheered, “let’s see if Y/D/N and Y/S/N will have to try and force a smile through a night with their daddy, or whether they’ll be actually able to enjoy themselves by spending the night with their favourite uncles.”
“Stop presenting!” Your son yelled, throwing his arms up in the air, “can’t we just get on with dancing?”
“Sorry Y/S/N…let’s dance!”

hi! i absolutely love your writing, and i fucking screamed when i saw that your requests were open. i was hoping you write something about the miya twins sharing a darling? yes, i am a simp and i am fucking proud of it
Atsumu is a bastard, and therefore, Osamu is bastardly by association. I refuse to respect them, but I see the appeal. Have your twins, but I’ll do my best not to let you enjoy them.
Title: Homecoming.
TW: Nonconsensual Touching and Implied Bullying.
~
Sometimes, you try to think about what your life would be like if you were born a year earlier.
Or a year later, you guessed. It didn’t matter. If you were just a bit older or months younger, you would never have met the Miya twins. You would’ve been at a safe distance from the pair all thoroughly Elementary School, free from their torment in Junior High, and they couldn’t have followed you into your teens, not if you’d never caught their eye in the first place. You weren’t special, nor were you afraid to admit that. You were a target, one that could and would be replaced as soon as you failed to serve your purpose.
You supposed it was your fault, then. You failed to break, so they failed to move on.
That didn’t make you feel any better about your current situation, though.
Atsumu and Osamu had been going to Inarizaki for two years. Four full semesters, as opposed to your measly handful of weeks. It made sense that they had a better grasp of the terrain, and thus, your shock was muted when a pale hand emerged from a storage closet you hadn’t known existed, latching onto your wrist and dragging you through the narrow entrance, the door left ajar just enough to allow you through without attracting the attention of your peers. You failed to resist, at first, stumbling forward out of blind stupor, but by the time you thought to fight or scream or do something, a palm was pressed against your mouth, your back flush against a familiar chest and your arms trapped under something heavy and strong, pinning you down with a force you wish you’d never grown accustomed to.
There were no windows, no lights, leaving your focus to shift around the small space desperately, searching for something to latch onto in the darkness. A phone was turned on, then off, illuminating a small section of the floor briefly before flickering into nonexistence. It was a passing hope, though. Your eyes were beginning to adjust, just enough to make out the apathetic, self-satisfied smirk you’d grown so accustomed to. Atsumu’s smirk. You could guess who was holding you, if he’d agreed to take such an idle role.
When Atsumu spoke, he did so impassively. As if you’d been the one to approach him, and he was just indulging you in a conversation he had no interest in. As if you were the one holding him hostage. “Look at this, ‘samu,” He started, scanning over your struggling form. He was less than an arm’s length away, the cramped closet only allowing for so much room between its occupants, but you could still feel him prying into you, his head bowed in an effort to better look down on you. “The brat’s all dressed in black ‘n white, tryin’ to blend in with the rest of us commoners.”
“Think Shiratorizawa was too much of a step up, ‘tsumu?” Osamu’s voice was neutral, uncaring when taken out of context, but you’d learned to pay more attention to what he said than how he said it. Beyond that, the arm now wrapped around your waist clenched down, squeezing for a moment as the hand covering your mouth dropped away entirely, giving you the option to answer but warning you against it, before you could. “It was probably just a break. I’d want some time away from that face of yours too, if I was ‘em.”
There was a hint of a snarl, a reflexive response to their brotherly teasing, but Atsumu quickly regained his composure, gritting his teeth and narrowing his gaze, although you weren’t sure which one of you the gesture was supposed to be directed towards. “Yours ain’t much better, y’know,” He countered, taking half a step closer. “Why did you come back, babydoll? My brother and I were so disappointed when you left without telling us, you don’t know how long the big guy back there spent tryin’ to find whatever hole you decided to hide in. Almost broke my heart, if I’m bein’ honest.”
You hesitated before answering. You’d left because of their treatment, their jeers and their jokes and their determination to make your life hell until you graduated. They must’ve known that, and you doubted they hadn’t managed to uncover the reason for your return, yet, either. They knew your scholarship ran out and you had to come back, they knew that. They just wanted to hear you say it.
It was the least you could do to deprive them of that small victory.
“I missed the scenery,” You muttered, your response almost too quiet to hear. “Everyone’s nice, at the Academy. I guess I was feeling nostalgic.”
Atsumu frowned. Osamu snickered. You let your confidence flare before reminding yourself not to let them have any effect on you, no matter how positive the shift seemed. Rather, you steeled yourself, squaring your shoulders as Atsumu reached forward, catching your jaw and tilting your head back. “I don’t really remember why we were missin’ you,” He said, forcing you to face him, his thumb biting into your jaw when you tried to twist away. “You’re always actin’ so stubborn, when you know ‘samu and I don’t mean any harm. If you just started behavin’ right, we wouldn’t have so many problems. We wouldn’t have to go to such great lengths to get your attention.” He paused, dropping your jaw, but freedom was a temporary comfort. Without warning, he took you by the hair, jerking you up by the scalp and earning a pathetic, whiny whimper for his efforts, the noise enough to spur him on, as he continued. “If you weren’t so cold, we wouldn’t have to be so mean.”
“Then what?” You’re talking before you can tell yourself not to, getting mad before you can tell yourself not to. It’s was instinct, to curl your hands into fists and drive your nails into your skin, to hate the men who currently surround you. Distance had spoiled you, given you time to grow content with the idea of a life that didn’t include the Miya twins. It seemed too soon to adjust to what you used to be complacent with. It seemed unfair. “You want your punching bag to smile and say ‘thank you’, and that’s great, that’s wonderful, but unless it gets you to screw off, I’m not interested. I don’t want anything to do with you or your--” You took the time to drive your heel into Osamu’s foot, only stopping when he let out a stifled, pained grunt. “-fucking brother, and there’s no amount of bullshit you can put me through to make me think otherwise.”
There was a beat of silence. Osamu looked towards Atsuma, Atsuma looked towards Osamu, and then they both looked towards you. You pursed your lips, your pride morphing into a hallow, jagged shape, one that came to rest at the back of your throat. You waited for the backlash, your anticipation mixing with that sense of impending dread, but the blow never came.
Instead, they laughed.
“This is why you shouldn’t be the one doin’ the talking, you make both of us sound like pricks.” Osamu’s chin came to rest on your shoulder, a chuckle still lacing the edges of his tone by the time he finished. He nuzzled into the crook of your neck affectionately, kissing the dip of your shoulder, adamantly ignoring your renewed attempts to squirm out of his hold. “The poor thing’s already shakin’. I think you scared ‘em, ‘tsumu.”
“No, no. If anything, our little mouse got too brave.” There was another tug to your hair, another string of smirks and glances between the two, and in the distance, a bell rang, but neither boy seemed to notice.
If anything, they were more concentrated on you than they’d ever been.
“I think someone needs a proper welcome home, don’t you?”
