Hyperspecific narumitsu trope i love #2: after they get together, it takes Apollo 5 seconds of seeing them within 10 feet of each other to recognize it

I reread my AA oneshot “Full Disclosure,” which involves Athena and Simon needing to disclose to Phoenix and Miles respectively that not only are they in a relationship, she’s also (unexpectedly) pregnant with their child. It got me thinking more about the scenario, so I decided to elaborate with some further headcanons(?):
Athena suspects she might be pregnant when she misses her period — she’s very consistent — and it scares her because she and Simon have only been seriously seeing each other a couple months at that point
Her fears are confirmed when she takes a test.
She ends up calling Simon on the verge of tears, asking him to come over to her apartment. She won’t tell him why she is upset over the phone, so he makes quick work of getting there.
He’s caught off guard when she tells him she’s pregnant — but he otherwise takes it very well and is more focused on soothing Athena’s anxieties.
Once she‘s calmed down a little more, they talk seriously about their options. Simon tells her that he will support whatever she wants, whether that be to end the pregnancy or go through with it and have a baby together.
They settle on having the baby and becoming parents. Simon asks if she wants to get married, which flusters and overwhelms Athena. She tells him no, not yet, that she’d rather get married because they’re ready and not just because they’re going to have a child.
(Simon takes note of that “not yet”)
After about a week of further processing and a visit to the doctor to confirm the pregnancy, Simon and Athena agree they need to inform their bosses.
(That’s when “Full Disclosure” happens)
When Apollo hears of the news, he absolutely comes back from Khura’in just to be with Athena for several days and make sure she’s ok
(Apollo actually comes back for nearly a full month around her due date just to support her, because they’re best friends, and he goes into Overprotective BFF mode the moment he hears she’s pregnant. Seriously though, he like reads pregnancy books in his spare time, to which Klavier says, “If I didn’t know better Herr Forehead, I’d suspect YOU were the father.”)
Regardless of any apprehensions (mostly from Apollo), Simon is very devoted to Athena theoughout the entire pregnancy. He attends all of her appointments and caters to her needs (he absolutely makes the late-night runs to the store to help satisfy Athena’s cravings)
However, Simon and Athena don’t move in together until she’s around six months, because by that point it’s getting a little more challenging to manage living on her own (swollen feet and exhaustion and everything) — and by then, it’s becone evident how committed Simon is to supporting Athena. It’s not just financial support; he’s looking to co-parent (and Athena and Simon remain romantically involved regardless — it’s just a little earlier for cohabitation than either would have expected, had she not been pregnant).
With Miles’ support, Simon plans to take time off work beginning a week before Athena’s due date — but of course, her water breaks early, while Simon is in a trial (his last one before he’s supposed to go on paternal leave actually). The defense for the case is Phoenix.
Klavier, Apollo, and Trucy are with Athena at the WAA when it happens. She had gone into the another room to pick up some case files for Klavier while he and Apollo were busy arguing/flirting when she suddenly feels liquid running down her leg.
She walks into the room and is like, “Okay... nobody freak out... but my water just broke.”
Apollo freaks out
Comparatively, Athena is pretty calm; Klavier and Trucy are moreso excited. Meanwhile, Apollo is losing his mind rambling about how they have to immediately get to the hospital, and they need to count the minutes between her contractions, etc.
The biggest problem is that no one has a car (Klavier just has his hog, and no one else drives, causing Apollo to further panic). Athena is more worried about getting ahold of Simon because he’s in the middle of a trial, and since Apollo is being absolutely no help (Trucy is having to comfort HIM), Klavier takes control of the situation. He contacts Edgeworth and tells him what’s happening. Edgeworth quickly tells him to go down to the courthouse and take over the trial for Simon, while he’ll come pick Athena up himself and take her to the hospital.
Klavier leaves immediately, and Edgeworth arrives in a few minutes to get Athena, Apollo, and Trucy. While on the car ride there, Athena’s contractions start to come more quickly, and she begins to legitimately worry Simon won’t be able to make it in time.
(Apollo is holding her hand in a vice-grip the entire ride, while Trucy has Athena’s other hand. Apollo gets better control of himself and is able to actually reassure her as well as help her count the time between her contractions. Reading those pregnancy books really paid off!)
Meanwhile, Klavier interrupts the trial and (politely but firmly) requests for the judge to call for a recess, which he does. During that time, he tells Phoenix and Simon that Athena’s gone into labor.
Simon actually breaks character and is nervous (Phoenix’s panicked reaction certainly doesn’t help), but Klavier assures him that “Herr Edgeworth is safely transporting her there” and that Apollo and Trucy are with her. He then tells Simon that the Chief Prosecutor said he could take over the trial so Simon can go, which Simon gratefully does.
Simon barely makes it to the hospital in time. Athena’s labor goes by quick — but he makes it in time regardless! Athena gives birth to a healthy baby girl.
The trial finishes up not long afterward, and Phoenix and Klavier make it to the hospital after the baby is born. (Did Phoenix have to ride on the back of Klavier’s motorcycle to the hospital? Oh heck yeah he did!)
It’s a very emotional time for everyone. Simon and Athena get some alone time with their child, wherein they get to hold and kiss her (and each other). Athena cries a lot (happy tears!), and Simon is grateful he is alive to cradle both her and his daughter.
Of course, everyone else also gets a chance to meet and hold the new baby! Trucy is vibrating with excitement that now she’s an aunt. Apollo cries when he holds her, the big softie. Klavier adores the baby and suggestively remarks to Apollo that they both seem to love holding a child, and maybe they should have one of their own (sending Apollo into a flustered mess). Miles and Phoenix also get a moment with her, but neither are too pleased when Trucy remarks that this means they’re “like grandparents” now. (“We’re not even 40!” Phoenix says, exasperated).
Simon and Athena get engaged like six months later. When they actually get married, their daughter is just old enough to be walking, and she toddles down the aisle (with Trucy’s help) as the flower girl. There isn’t a single person in the room who doesn’t go “aww” at that.
