Another thing that haunts me about this entire thing is that Amanda wasn’t just funny like her coworkers, or funny like other Disney and Nickelodeon actresses. Amanda Bynes was funny like Carol Burnett. Funny like Lucille Ball. She was effervescent and classic. Her comedic sensibilities were deeply intelligent. She had *it*. And she should have grown into one of the best actresses of our generation. But *something* happened and derailed it all. Even if she’s not the same, I truly hope she’s well and happy. Listening to Drake Bells father, Joe, talk about how he just got bad vibes from Brian Peck and knew he was bad and was eyeing up his son just has me fucked up. Him saying he hasn’t been same since he found out what had happened to his son and him just breaking down into tears.

Drake not knowing how to explain or talk about what really happened in front of cameras. There was a moment there, where you can see alot of emotion is on his face, like he just is coming to reality that he is actually telling other people what happened.

Between Quiet on Set and I'm Glad my Mom Died (which I know has already been out for over a year but is rightfully still making an impact), I am encouraging you all to listen to Alyson Stoner's podcast Dear Hollywood, which I've not seen get nearly as much attention on Tumblr as it deserves. It is the deepest dive you can imagine into the shitshow that is the child acting world. Quiet on Set focuses only on stuff that happened in the studio and the actions of people working on set (fuck Brian Peck), and I'm Glad my Mom Died is obviously only Jennette McCurdy's personal experiences, but Dear Hollywood explores pretty much every single detail of the fucked up situation child actors find themselves in, from the studios, to parents, to us, the fans.

Listen with caution, because they share quite a few harrowing experiences, but it's an incredibly important listen if you want to understand more about this topic. Especially since there seems to be a new generation of child actors becoming popular on Tumblr, what with the Percy Jackson TV show and the live action Avatar.

i know the issues around Dan Schneider/Drake Bell/Nickelodeon are getting a lot of traction right now because of the release of 'Quiet on Set'. i watched it, thought it was well done and handled horrible topics/events in a good way.

also, just today, i (unintentionally) saw paparazzi photos of Amanda Bynes for the first time in years.

please leave her alone. i'm sure she was contacted about QOS and chose not to participate. she was clearly harmed by the events that QOS talked about.

just. don't interact with or promote content about her. let her live in peace.

The thing that bothers me abt posts about quiet on set is that I see a lot of “let’s kill dan schneider” and idk how to put this but that’s not the point quiet on set was making. The point was that this was systemic. And that a lot of people while not outright evil were complacent in what was going on or victims themselves. Remove Dan Schneider great. But what happens when another tv asshole comes in? Where are the laws and regulations to make sure that never happens again? We need to not just be angry for the victims but be wary.
