Ok jokes aside i do find damiens religion thing very confusing to parse thru cause its interesting that he finds a way to reconcile fantasy catholicism w his queerness but. Hm.
#him going to the 'west' (?) for missionary work and getting his ass kicked into a river...#and finding a connection to his saint in his own way. hm.#i do see the threads here that his father was strict abt fantasy bible ig and didnt approve of damien at all#and definitelyyyy got kicked out of that village for being weird abt it#and ig... the way magic operates in this world is also tied w belief so thats how damien is able to do extraordinary things#just by believing in his saint hard enough#and the fact that his saint has his own voice#hm. ig im having trouble w it because i find it difficult to not think of religion as a tool for oppression#but thats not the case for everyone#and ig this is a question everyone wrestles with right?#like what parts to keep and what parts to get rid of#we cant get rid of the whole thing like thats not feasible so how do we move forward#lol. idk. do they do interviews where they talk abt this stuff that is NOT behind a paywall#tpp#LOL i know nothing abt maintaining faith while also being queer sorry bsbsbjdf thats just a different perspective
