Okay, so in my AU (They were made for the BOTW AU, but I could make a version for AoC as well.) they have two kids. Rylo and Prestille. (One day when I can draw humans and kids I will draw them, but for now have a little description of how they look.) I wanted the tradition of every female being named Zelda to be broken because let's be honest, that's just weird..

I made their middle names references to "Wild" and "Silent" (As in the flower, silent princess.) So their full names are "Rylo Wilde Hyrule" and "Prestille Silant (Pronounced more like sil-lahnt.) Hyrule"

(I had to use the royal family's last name because Link doesn't have one. I should make one up sometime.).

Rylo is the oldest, they're twins but he was born first. He has his mom's eye color and his hair color is in between Link and Zelda's hair color.

Prestille has Link's eye color and her hair is a couple shades lighter than Link's.

I was thinking that, depending on how BOTW2 ends, they would have powers carried over like the (Most likely) Zonai magic.

Prestille would probably have the sealing power despite not being named after her mother. I feel like naming them the same name over and over isn't necessary and it just started as a rumor that the royal family listened to. (She probably won't be needing to use it in her lifetime, but at least it'd be carried over for any other future Zeldas.)

Rylo and Prestille are friends with some other OCs that I haven't mentioned (That's a whole other ask for another time.). I will say that they are Zoras though.

Link, Zelda, Rylo and Prestille live in Link's house in Hateno, that's where the twins were born.

One day they found a stray Hylian Retriever puppy and brought him to Link and Zelda. Zelda tried telling them that they can't keep a pet right now, they proceeded to use their own puppy eyes and even Link joined in because IT'S A PUPPY! Zelda eventually gave in and the kids got to name the puppy. Since they're kind of addicted to sweets, and the puppy was a little sweetheart they decided to name him Cupcakes. He wears a little red bowtie instead of a collar. He follows them everywhere.

Their favorite foods are (Like I said before.) sweets. So the fruitcake, monster cake, etc. Actual meals they like though are omelets, cooked meat, soup and apples. They LOVE apples. (Who doesn't stop to pick all of the apples in BOTW?) So they aren't as big of a glutton as Link, but if you place some food in front of them they will most likely eat it.

Link and Zelda have an adopted daughter too. There was an ambush in a Rito settlement (Built after BOTW and BOTW2) and when Link arrived there seemed to be no survivors. He found an egg (I mean, I assume they lay eggs like normal birds. They are bird people after all.) that seemed unscathed and took it back because there seemed to be nobody else around. Zelda tells him to bring it to Rito village, but before they could it started hatching and whoops, now they have a baby Rito. They name her Veena. She looks like a pileated woodpecker. (We had them back home and they are big and so cool! They're like little raptors flying around.)

So now they have three kids and a dog to look after.

Paya babysits them when Link and Zelda have to go do some important stuff. Either by now she has left the village before or they drop them off at Kakariko for her to look after them.

The kids love her and always comment about how pretty, nice and cool she is. Asking her if she also has magic (Again, depending on how BOTW2 ends, they could possibly have the Zonai magic.) because they've been told about the Sheikah and their magic a little bit. Luckily they don't cause too much trouble for Paya.

Their favorite foods that she makes them are pumpkin stew and vegetable curry. (Yes, surprisingly they DO like some veggies. In fact, they only really eat them if she makes the dish.)

They LOVE the horses that Link and Zelda have. They like brushing their hair and they even get to go riding on them once in a while (As long as Link or Zelda is riding on the horse with them so they don't fall.).

That's all I have so far, but that's still a lot. 😅

I love them so much!!! i absolutely agree that zelda would very likely break the "naming the firstborn daughter zelda" thing. because like. if ANY zelda would do that, it would be her. there's no way she would want to pass off that "curse" of a name to her own child. (THO also from what little i've seen people mention about TP Zelda, she might be willing to do the same as well but that's a whole different game i've never played lm a o)

they seem like such a lovely mix of both their parents i aDORE THEM!! and an adopted rito child i- I Am Emotional (AND what a pretty bird to be based on!!)

i take nightly flexeril ( 10 mg ) and motrin ( 600 mg ) and have been for the past week ( ? ) - ish and this is unchanged

i took one 500 mg tylenol 3 days ago, no relief to headache

2 days ago, took 1000 mg of tylenol for the headache, no improvement

yesterday, took a total of 2000 mg tylenol, 100 in the morning and 1000 with my nightly flexeril and motrin after dinner, no improvement

today around 1330, took an aleve ( 220 mg ), nothing

about an hour ago, at like, 2130 ? i took an aspirin ( 81 mg ) just to test if im stroking out or smth from all the bad emo stuff im putting myself through but it has done nothing yet

which is both good ( i didnt have a stroke ? ) and bad ( my head still hurts )

im on the verge of tears, which is making my headache worse again honestly, but i cant help it and im just so lonely and unstable right now

but anyway, to the main ( ? ) point of this post i suppose

ive been stressing over something not within my capacity of control nor is it any of my business being upset over because it physically has nothing to do with me but i am inherently a jealous person and have been since all of my previous friendships ( ? ) have ended the same way and as i have repeatedly grinded in my oh-so personal-online-not-really-personal-and-actually-very-public diary right here, ive never liked who i was, i dont think i ever will, and no matter how much i want to change i do not think my emotions will, lol :3c

essentially, i suppose change makes me uncomfortable

but due to this fact, having been left in the dark to let my brain think whatever bad thoughts it wants, i have become uncomfortable with the people they hang out with the most due to the ... sexual openness the friend displays ( ? ) towards my said friend when said friend never ... mentioned anything ??? about them or this aspect even tho said friend is low key not open about their personal life at all... ( which isnt bad ) which is why i never spoke of this situation at all, up until a point where it became ( too late to ask and ) obvious and out in the open that, wow, ami you big buffoon, this was consensual the whole time probably and is now public, congrats you disgusting shitstain for thinking otherwise and, for being a terrible person because theyre cute together and appreciate each other very much

and to be perfectly honest im just acting like a kid who had their favorite toy taken / given away, and i demand to be treated as such a fool because i deserve nothing but pity in this situation

but uh, point in case tldr i just, had to unfollow a sweet person, whom i actually share a few interests with, i noticed, but nonetheless a nice person who has been nothing but sweet and civil to me, simply because we share a common friend and said mutual is happy while i marinate in envy hell b/c i feel like ive been kicked out of the bff spot ? ? ? Prince.

Prince's music is finally available to stream again, which means that I feel that it's time to do a horribly lengthy writeup of his work. I'm going to go from 1999 to Sign O The Times, because that's the period of his work that I have the most experience with. Let's begin, then.

1999

1999 is a bit of an odd one. It's the first album that truly broke free from the plain funk of the first two albums, although there is a case to be made for Dirty Mind. I'd consider it to be the strangest album he produced in this period. For example, it doesn't have many of the punchy, tight pop-funk hits that would later become his forte. Instead, it focuses on looser, longer funk jams that seem to last forever. It's definitely not my favourite Prince record, but it's one that's definitely needs sustained listening to really open up.

It can also be a very... blunt record. For example, on Let's Pretend We're Married, about 15 minutes into the album as a whole, he lets us know that:

I'm not saying this just to be nasty. I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth.

It's pretty unintentionally hilarious, and something that always sticks with me with I give this album a relisten.

Purple Rain

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.

Purple Rain... where do I start? His first album with The Revolution, and his first perfect record in my opinion. I'd have to say that this album is basically wall-to-wall hits, with 5 out of the 9 songs on the album being released as singles, and 4 of those reaching the top 10 in the UK and US. Although I haven't seen the film that it's meant to be the soundtrack for, it's already completely perfect as a standalone album. Sorry if I sound like I'm gushing, it's just that I am. The guitar work on Let's Go Crazy is weird, as there's a full guitar solo about 2 and a half minutes into the song that isn't actually at the forefront of the song, but is buried in the mix of Linn LM-1s and synthesisers. Strangely enough, although this album is credited to Prince and The Revolution, 3 of the songs (The Beautiful Ones, Darling Nikki, and When Doves Cry) are credited to Prince alone. I think that this signifies the songs that he plays all the instruments on.

Around The World In A Day

Right, so Prince has just released what at that time was his crowning achievement, and people were wondering how he was ever going to top it. Was he going to go and release Purple Rain II - This Time, It's Lavender?

He released a psychedelic pop record, taking cues more from the sixties than the 80s pop that seemed to surround him on Purple Rain. He also asked that the promotional campaign for the album be very low-key, not even releasing singles until a month after the album's release. It receives a mixed critical reception, even now, with the Spin Alternative Record Guide giving it a 4 out of 10, Rolling Stone giving it 2.5 out of 5, and Q magazine giving it 3 out of 5.

When asked about the critical reception by Rolling Stone, Prince had this to say:

I talked to George Clinton, a man who knows and has done so much for funk. He told me how much he liked Around the World in a Day. You know how much more his words mean than those from some mamma-jamma wearing glasses and an alligator shirt behind a typewriter? . . . I've heard some people say I'm not talking about anything on this record. And what a lot of other people get wrong about the record is that I'm not trying to be this great visionary wizard. Paisley Park is in everybody's heart. It's not just something that I have the keys to. I was trying to say something about looking inside oneself to find perfection. Perfection is in everyone. Nobody's perfect, but they can be. We may never reach that, but it's better to strive than not.

Parade

So, Around The World In A Day was a bit of a critical flop, but the fans liked it and it sold well, right? At this point, nobody was really sure what to expect from Prince. This album features a very similar style to Around The World In A Day, but honed to perfection and eschewing the most outwardly psychedelic elements in favour of a more inwardly strange direction. Starting off with a 9 minute suite with constantly changing musical styles before settling down into a more funky groove that we hadn't really heard since Purple Rain, Parade represents, in my opinion, the rebirth of Prince as a godlike genius.

Sign O The Times

Sign O The Times is Prince's best album. There. I've said it. I've lied in bed at night contemplating whether Parade is better than Purple Rain, and if so, if it was better than this, but I've decided it's not.

It's just perfection from start to finish, with no low point whatsoever. That's really saying something on an 80 minute double album. I can't really put into words how much I love this record, as I feel that it would just decrease the impact of this album as a whole. It's an insanely wide-spanning record, with rock, funk, dance, and soul sharing the same stage in the pinnacle of Prince. This album was Prince throwing the doors open and declaring that this was his mind and how he worked.

Overall, then, I'd say that Prince is the greatest artist of the 1980s, and one of the greatest single musicians ever. The power of Prince at his height was almost a match for the power of Lennon-McCartney or Bowie, but strangely, outside of certain musical circles he recieves barely any of the recognition that the others do.

Vicki: The Facebook scandal with Cambridge Analytica and more. What can we, as K-12 teachers, learn about it?

Today, Britt Watwood is going to tackle this topic. So, first of all, Britt, how would you explain, in simple terms, what happened on Facebook and why so many people are wanting to #deletefacebook?

What happened on Facebook?

Britt: It’s a great question, Vicki.

Let me first say I am not a Facebook expert or a privacy expert.

I am a college teacher, but I have been using Facebook in my classes for about the last six years. I got concerned when the privacy scandal broke last March.

In a nutshell, Cambridge Analytica, was a corporation that used Facebook data and had permission to look at about a quarter million accounts, but because of the way Facebook sets itself up, whenever you give permission to Facebook, you’re also basically giving permission for Facebook to look at your friends.

Cambridge Analytica was able to take that quarter million accounts that it had permission to look at from Facebook and mine fifty million accounts to look at trends and how people thought about politics and then potentially use that to move the 2016 election in different ways.

Obviously those 50 million people did not know their data was being used.

Vicki: Yeah.

Britt: So it became a real public relations nightmare for Facebook, but it also raised troubling questions about, “What do we know about our data?”

Vicki: Yeah. So, Britt, did you delete your Facebook, or not?

Britt: Great question. The quick answer is yes and no. I deleted using Facebook in teaching, but I still have a Facebook account.

I think the reason is the same reason a lot of people looked at Facebook. We got so used to using it to connect with family and friends, there wasn’t a good alternative.

Vicki: What are using instead of Facebook for your classes?

Britt: In my classes, I’m using strictly a Blackboard LMS and I’m using Twitter, which I felt was a less onerous use of social media for classroom conversations. People kind of understood that anything you tweet is out there.

When I set up the Facebook closed group, I was under the assumption that people could use Facebook for communication in our class, and nobody outside the group could see it.

But just by requiring my students to have a Facebook account to do that, I was potentially setting them up to have their data mined. That bothered me.

Vicki: Okay, so you’ve moved off of the private group. What else? What can we learn from this?

I think you’ve got a pretty cool acronym that you once shared that we need to consider when we are using Facebook today. What is that?

You’ve got a pretty cool acronym. What is it?

Britt: The acronym is P.R.O.V.E. You have to prove to me that it’s worth using Facebook, or any social media, for that matter.

P is for Privacy. We’ve got to do a better job as educators understanding our own privacy by helping our students understand how to set up THEIR privacy. There are some good websites out there – I’ll share some links at the end, here with you on setting up your privacy.

The R is for Respect. There are multiple viewpoints online. In this age of very partisan bickering online, we need to do better jobs of respect.

O is Observe. That means that, anytime you see something on the web, you need to think about it before you jump in. I like to think about the fact that good citizens pause before they like, comment, or share, and kind of ask “What does this say about me?”

V is for Validate. Before you share something, you should make sure that it’s valid.

Finally, E is for Engage, because I do not think that banning and deleting Facebook or staying off of social media is the answer.

We just need to do a better job of educating ourselves as teachers and educating our students on being good digital citizens.

Vicki: I think that it’s important for us educators to remember that nothing is free.

Nothing is free.

Basically, the commodity is we have agreed to allow ourselves to be surveilled. That’s what we said. You could watch me, you could stalk me, you can see all of my purchasing habits, what I’m doing, and, in return, I will use your service for free – but at what cost?

Do you think people are just starting to understand that their privacy is worth something?

Britt: Well, I think they are starting to understand it better. This is one of those evolving phases. It’s interesting to watch in the last month how Facebook has basically started a public relations campaign to say, “Hey! Come back! You joined me for a valid reason, and that was to connect with people.”

All true, but at the same time, those connections allow Facebook to advertise and share their accounts with other advertisers. I think that it’s a great point. It’s not a free world out there, and we’ve got to do a better job of educating ourselves on what we’re willing to give up to make these connections.

Vicki: Another thing is, if you look at algorithms, they are dividing us.

This is about YouTube: I talked to a teacher who taught kids who came out of Syria, and he was in Jordan.

He said, “Vicki, how do I get them out of the warzone?”

“What happens is they come in, they log into their Google accounts, they’re on YouTube, and they’re getting more and more extreme things. I have seven-year-olds who are being shown videos of beheadings on YouTube because it wants to engage them and show them more and more extreme things.”

Really, Facebook is giving us more of what what we like, and that has always been the big issue that I have, because there is no “Dislike” button – we can’t say, “You know what, person? You are crazy. You just posted something really ridiculous.”

There’s only a “Like” button, and it makes everybody think that their ideas are great and then it gives them more of those ideas. There may be only three people in the world who agree with them, but somehow, they’re going to feel like it’s the majority.

Britt: Right. You and I have both been in social media now for a decade. In the early days, it was a community. We kind of all enjoyed talking with one another.

I think what’s changed in the past couple of years is 1) the community has gotten much larger, but 2) artificial intelligence has begun joining the conversation in ways we never expected.

That’s part of the Validate piece of my P.R.O.V.E. acronym – make sure that you’re talking to a person first instead of some Russian robot that’s out there.

Vicki: Oh, and the bots and the A.I. (artificial intelligence) are getting so good.

So, Britt, as we finish up, do you just have an encouragement or a word to educators as we all make up our minds and shape the conversation around what social media should become?

Britt: I think I saw a term earlier today on the web that I really like. It’s our “connectedness intelligence.”

“Connectedness intelligence.”

I think we need to think about the fact that social media’s going to be with us in the future in ways that we really might not comprehend right now.

The important thing is for us to stay connected, stay talking to each other, and work together to educate our students.

This is something that should start in elementary school looking at your basic ideas of digital literacy, and then move into middle school and into high school and into college and beyond, so we continually retool ourselves as to what’s going on with the web and stay vigilant.

This is going to continue to evolve, and we need to evolve with it.

Vicki: So, educators, as we have this conversation, this is an important topic, and maybe one you might want to listen and want to talk to about – but terms like “filter bubble” and “privacy” and realizing what it means to be surveilled by the social media companies and the ads they send us and also the not-so-positive side of things.

There are a lot of conversations we can have around this topic.

This definitely is going to shape the future of education, just because so many of us educators connect on Facebook as well as other social media as well.

Today was fairly nice. Didn’t get much sleep because of Sonic Forces and my own creativity tho. Didn’t get any sleep at all actually.

I hung out w OG and LM and peeps in the morning and then I joined them for their class. I did this survey abt what we students think about that specific teacher (even tho I don’t have music production class) and then the teacher went out and talked to someone for like 10-15 mins. He said he was gonna be gone for 2.

I was gonna work w AS on our group project thing during history class but that didn’t really happen. I mean we wrote a little but we mostly just talked abt Sonic and Infinite and my oc. Heh. It was nice tho!

During lunch I went and got money for EM (he helped me by swishing the money I owed to EL to her) and I bought a müslibar and somethin to drink ‘cause I couldn’t be bothered with eating actual lunch. That was an incredibly bad idea bc the bar itself made my throat burn but at least I ate something.

After lunch I went and sat in school and first I talked to CL (a bit weird but nice guy) for a bit which was fun ‘cause we both just immediately go into these specific speech patterns and voices when we speak to each other, and then I went and sat w MG and others a while. OG, LM and AX went to lunch and came back and so I just sat with them a bit before religion class and chilled.

Religion class was S l o w. Oh so slow. I didn’t get shit done bc I was so tired and my head and throat hurt. I spent most of the class talking to AS again ‘cause we sat next to each other and then I also spoke to the teacher abt interests and tv shows and stuff. I think she kinda understood no one was concentrating much so she wasn’t too hard on us.

Digital creations went by faster than religion class and despite some joke-bullying from EL, JJ and AS that makes me a bit uncomfortable it was fun. We managed to finish our short film and we’re probably gonna show it in class next week.

I’m writing and uploading stuff about my day now while I’m on my way home ‘cause I’m probably just gonna eat and then go straight to sleep when I get home. That’s all I wanna do at this point honestly. Just sleep. And I mean I also wanna play Sonic Forces but I probably won’t be able to do that today bc of sleepiness.
