i can't be normal about pre-85 saemaji now because like. we see so little of majima before anagura and how it broke him bad, and he is just, profusely impossible to deal with after that, especially during his interactions with saejima in 4 and 5. but saejima prevails. sticks with him. punches sense into him if he must. and i just have to wonder what compels him to persevere and i feel like it must be something that he knows that the players never really will. because he knew majima before everything went to shit, and even though they've both changed he still sees that person in majima, and he can dig that out of him, even if in little pieces. i see just so much love here, maybe even a bit of a sunk cost fallacy in that majima's never going to be that same person ever again no matter what saejima does. i think they're both really unwell here chief

It has been requested (@awfullybigwardrobe44 💛) that I provide an update on How Things Are Going With The Young Man, and there’s so much I could say that it all kind of cancels itself out (I’ve been journaling like a madwoman lately), but yes, I think things are going well. I still can't believe any of this is happening, I am not the kind of person that this kind of stuff is supposed to happen to 😆 We have gone on several more dates, one of them a day-long fishing trip, and it’s been lovely and I just think he's delightful and I really like being with him. I still have a lot of shyness to overcome, but considering how intensely terrified I used to be of him I think I’ve made excellent progress 😆 I’ve seen less of him lately because he’s extremely busy with work and especially school but we text a lot and this weekend we’re planning to go to dinner and then the symphony after that (I bought the tickets and I can tell it's driving him nuts that I finally paid for something myself but ahaha it's too late there's nothing he can do about it now) 😊

Wip dump. I had an idea of introducing a new character to the Drake and Eirenelas story but I’m in a slump right now and don’t feel like finishing anything (plus I have some private commissions to take care of) so it might take awhile for me to finish it. Just wanted to share cause he is currently on my mind and I think he’s a pretty fun character so far

His name is Zhen Liang, a dangerous gang leader who has leads and connections who becomes infatuated with the two and helps them out on their goal.

i've been thinking a lot about march 7th and her new path/form because at first i was kind of disappointed when it was first announced. i, like lots of other people expected her to get a five star, lore drop form like dan heng eventually, and the whole new path/new element really brings a bit into question about how the universe actually works. is march now able to control imaginary? could anyone do that? this new form has occured under completely different circumstances than everyone else's, no big change occured to bring this new march into existence. it just feels kind of anticlimactic, right?

whilei still have some nitpicks with it all, but i've come to really appreciate this idea of march being able to change paths and styles so easily, especially while playing through her event. she has 67 different versions of her life to choose from, after all. she doesn't want to miss out. just as the trailblazer's determination to forge their own destiny has brought them the gaze of several aeons, march's ambition to take her life by the reins has brought her the unique ability to completely transform by herself and bring those futures to life.

it's funny because i think lots of people expected a new version of her based off the remembrance and Fuli, and while i hope we still get that, i think it's important to see that march wants to know and understand her past, but she also refuses to let it change the life she's lived since, the memories she's made and the love she's shared. she's able to forge these new paths all on her own because of the intense passion she holds for living and her desire to experience as much as she can, as long as she can.

Yessss >:3 It was a bit tough to try and keep a lighthearted/comedic tone while these three are inconsolable about watching a 15yo mourn their deaths and undergo crushing guilt and fear, but I did my best asdfsd 

The experiment participants did not expect the week to be so painful, which was mostly a failure on their own part, seeing as this was their first time being dead. 

It wasn’t even their own deaths that had gotten them in such a sour mood. This was their first time being dead, not the time at which they died – there was quite a difference. Dying was a fairly private event, and they each handled it accordingly. Being dead, however, was an unfortunately public affair.

Haruka, Shidou, and Mahiru woke up early (it was rather unprofessional to arrive late on your first day being dead) and made their way to the facility’s grand viewing room. In a normal prison, it may have been called a security room, with screens and speakers revealing every inch of Milgram. Even their old cells had live feeds, recording the empty space in case anyone decided to step inside. The setup didn’t miss a single thing.

By the end of the day, the three wished it could have missed a thing or two. By the end of the week, they had just about as much as they could take. They found themselves in the room after hours with a sullen air around them. Mahiru set down her floral-print bag as heavily as she sighed. 

“That was…”

“Hell.” Shidou said.

“M-more than hell,” Haruka added.

Mahiru nodded. She bowed her head. “I understand Es-kun’s grieving of you both, but I could never imagine they’d shed a tear over me…”

Haruka’s face twisted in horror. “Of c-course they would! Even I-I was sad about you!” He let his head drop. “It’s, um, it’s me that they shouldn’t be so sad for. I mean, it was m-my own fault.”

“I’ll hear none of that,” Shidou looked between them. “Es-kun loved you both so dearly. We all knew this would be very hard on them.” 

He paced the room, turning his back to peer at one of the common room cameras. “Though, they had made their distaste in me very clear, so I was frankly surprised that –”

“Alright, alright.” Mahiru held her hands up. “So we all agree Es-kun is in much more pain than we expected. That’s why I called you here.” 

She made her way to the door. She threw the lock, then proceeded to jamb the knob with a chair. Shidou watched her with increasing concern.

“O-oh!” Haruka straightened. “We’re doing this now?”

Shidou looked between them with increasing confusion. “Doing what now?”

Even in death, Mahiru was extremely adaptable. The pain of thinking about Es had already transformed into determination, with a hint of giddy excitement she failed to conceal. “We’re going to get them out! We’re going to start a jailbreak!”

“Shiina-kun, things like this usually require some time to prepare.”

“Really?” She frowned, crestfallen. “Well, what else do we need?” 

She reached into the floral bag. Out came the complete blueprints to the facility. Then, detailed schedules of the full faculty. Then, a notepad scribbled with what looked like security passwords. Then, a handful of official-looking flash drives and cords.

“I’m sorry,” she said as the group surveyed the table. “We tried really hard.”

Shidou gaped at her.

“Did you two… steal all these?”

“N-no!” 

Mahiru pointed to each item to describe its completely innocent origin, occasionally losing herself on a tangent or two. She cooked some treats for the faculty, and put together a schedule so she could bring a treat to whoever was on duty. It just happened to include the security personnel and the changing guards. When the crew came to fix the filming studio after the electrical incident, Haruka reminded one of them of their son. They let him keep the blueprints he’d been peering at the whole time when everything was repaired. Mahiru’s lunches with the IT woman had left her with a list of birthdays, pets, and travel plans that offered potential passwords. The hard drives and cords may have been useless, but Haruka thought to bring them after borrowing them from the time he dug through the huge lost and found bin to find an earring Muu was missing. 

“Alright, well, that may be stealing,” Shidou told him.

“Only, um, only if I don’t give them back...”

Mahiru directed them to the nearest computer. “Here, we can call into the cells, like Jackalope does sometimes! I’ve never been very savvy with computers, I thought we could ask everyone in there for help before we talked to Es.”

Shidou looked between them. He knew his willpower could never turn down a pleading, young face like Haruka’s. He also knew Mahiru’s willpower would never let anything sway her once she set her sights on something. Thankfully, he wouldn’t be confronting either. 

He reached into his coat. Out came a pocket notebook, the pages filled with his late-night contemplating on how to end the experiment early in order to free Es from this prison.

“Well, then, what are we waiting for?”
