Some sketches because it's been months since I drew these idiots oops☝️🥰
HI THERE. It's been a minute, sorry about that lol. I took a tiny out-of-nowhere and sorta involuntary break from the fandom because I lost interest for a second, but I'm slowlyyyy making my way back. With art, and some news about Tone Deaf for the people who are still wondering about that.
Also I see there's some asks in my box, I'll get to that eventually, I see you ;-; dw
--------------------
As stated, I momentarily lost a bit of interest with this movie- partially because I've recently been ensnared in a new fixation that will not be named right now, but yeah. I'm digging my heels in rn, because the last thing I wanna do is abandon this project. But, also, I've clearly bitten off more than I can chew with this being a comic lmao. In over my head and going through all 5 stages of grief and currently on acceptance.
The story got bigger. Like, a LOT bigger. Too big to capture every thought in a drawing and panel it and put it out as a perfectly polished comic without seriously burning myself out. It really doesn't help that my art style evolves by the second too apparently, so I've reached a middle-ground:
Tone Deaf is going to be a fic with some comic-like segments in it. An illustrated fanfic bc I still love showing and not telling a little too much.
This'll help me not only get stuff out faster, but also to help me fill in the gaps I didn't know how to draw with just text. So I can focus on just drawing the juicy shit. This also means it'll all be collected over on Ao3 in a neat little package, and I honestly prefer that over having a bunch of posts of pages that might be hard to find. So yeah, that's the plan.
Another bonus is that the frames can now be a lot more polished and nice looking [in glorious color] rather than hastily mashed together due to my bad habit of going overboard on singular frames without realizing it.
--------------------
Tldr; Tone Deaf is technically still gonna be a comic, it's just now gonna be supplemented with word-based fic mixed in because I made the project way too fucking big [the first Act has like 20 chapters I'm going to literally die]. Also it's gonna be on Ao3 and I'll probably be posting all the art here alongside any updates I make so huzzah! Help me :>

Multiple interviews with characters VAs I want to keep track of (notably the VAs for Liko, Roy, Dot).
Interview with Minori Suzuki (Liko's VA), translation here.
Lots of interesting stuff brought up in the interview, such as Liko's development and how she started voicing her feelings more. They brought up the scene with Dot in HZ049 when she voiced her concern about Dot passing her test as Gurumin, which made me happy since it's a scene that really stood out to me too, since Liko was trying to convey her worry at the right moment, which highlighted her kindness.
They also talked about Kaede and Chili and their impact on Liko, as well as Liko's relationship with Nyarote (Nyarote encouraging her to pull herself together, and how they show affection to each other since Nyarote is bigger and can hug Liko now).
I'm curious about Liko's future confrontation with Grusha (a sense of uneasiness between them was brought up).
Interview with Terasaki Yuka (Roy's VA), translation here.
Various talks about how Roy is growing as a trainer. They also brought up the fact that Terasaki Yuka was the VA for Corni during the XY anime (I liked Corni, so it's nice to see her VA talking about her), and how her experience as Corni influenced a bit the way she approached Roy at the beginning.
Also, I liked the part when Terasaki Yuka explains the way she sees Roy's approach to dream (and that she brought up the promise Roy made to his grandfather, to go meet him back in the island on Rayquaza!). I also feel like Roy is the type to be fixated on a singular dream, and that his dream to be acknowledged by Rayquaza is his alone. Him and Liko just happen to have shared goals, but I think they're distinct.
They talked about the possibility of Hogator evolving (which will mostly likely happen in Roy's battle against Rhyme), and wondered how Hogator's song would be once he evolves.
Terasaki Yuka also mentioned feeling reassured that kids are enjoying Horizons since she has children who love the anime a lot, so she gets to see upfront the influence of the current anime.
Interview with Yoshino Aoyama (Dot's VA), translation here.
Yoshino Aoyama mentioned that she didn't audition for Dot at the beginning (I wonder who she was auditioning for?). "Fans are happy to see you playing another shy character" may be referencing Bocchi the Rock?
They mentioned the fact that Dot's test against Nanjamo was a two-parter because the writers wanted to carefully depict her change of heart and feelings (Dot really is loved). Dot's relationship with Nanjamo was brought up as well, and is thought about positively.
They brought up the possibility of Kuwassu evolving (just like with Roy's Hogator, I think it'll happen pretty soon, probably during Dot's implementation test). Yoshino Aoyama also talked about Dot's relationship with Kanuchan and the way it gets Dot out of her comfort zone. She also brought up that small moment in HZ044 when Dot called back Kanuchan in her Pokeball because she wasn't sure how to handle her crying (also a moment I really liked for the exact same reasons she brought up).
They also talked about how Kanuchan's final evolution form attacks Armorga! Yoshino Aoyama brought up Amethio, and how she thinks Dot probably knows about the history between Armorga and Dekanuchan. I also wonder if the writers will do something with it eventually (and I'm glad the VAs are also aware of these facts and think about them as possibilities).
They talked about how children don't necessarily realize Dot is Gurumin, which is interesting (I didn't even think about that). Yoshino Aoyama also talked about her view of Dot saying things are a "pain" (very insightful part btw) and how she doesn't want Dot to be seen as unpleasant because she isn't (again, Dot is loved).
At the end, Yoshino Aoyama mentioned that she believes Dot will get a more concrete goal eventually, which made me curious. Perhaps becoming a professor eventually? Who knows.
Interview with Miria Takagishi (Poppy's VA), translation here.
Lots of talk about Pokemon in general. Miria Takagishi mentioned that HZ039 is her favorite episode. Dot's meeting with Kanuchan and the relationship between them, etc.

My parents cats woke me up at 7am on my sleep in day so I'm going to ramble about my vision for dragon age fan game spoilers for all games below
I am overall happy with how the series ended, definitively ended because I'm not acknowledging any games from Bioware going forward. I'm free of the AAA product curse and they gave me many wonderful tools to play in this world with.
THAT BEING SAID. You lose so much in the production of such a large scale project. Which is why the art and lore books for dragon age have always been soooo good because you get the unfiltered creativity of the whole team outside of the singular vision that needs to be followed for a cohesive product.
There's also things that need to be cut just by nature of what the product is going to be and limitation of resources. I'm gonna be so real with you guys. I'm never letting this go. I really wish there was just one dragon age protagonist and the crew mostly carried over between games. It would have never worked because Origins wasn't made with this in mind, too many variables, but IF the initial plan had been set. With the impossible foresight of what the series would be. Also old RPGs inspiring me by having customizable party members that you have a LITTLE bit more influence over than other party members, companion hawke/Inquisitor/rook could've been really cool.
This is all a bit unrelated disjointed it's 8am I think a lot about what could have been but I'm not doing all that. Remaking the games. Doesn't seem productive and is beyond my personal limitations. I want to make very high effort fan fiction about my player characters in what I find interesting in the world.
So the first game I've been planning is set during Veilguard from the Inquisitors perspective. With two big changes I can think of. 1. Mythal's vessel is whoever drank from the Well of Sorrows and 2. In Inquisition, the choice of who to leave in the Fade was between the Warden and Hawke. Because it slays pussy but I still understand why they didn't do that.

Ive been on my Jagged Alliance 2 era fixating on old squad tactic RPGs because that aspect of Origins I think was more fun to me than the current action oriented direction the series took (not that it wasn't fun gameplay I just don't enjoy it personally. And I play keyboard it hurts my arm). Tactic games, I feel, innately have an additional layer of interaction with the game world action oriented games usually don't have. Which is being able to interact in the world in a meaningful way outside of combat. As much as Dragon Age as a series is blood and guts, I have always wanted more when it comes to engaging with the world. And you know what's been set up in the game world, since Inquisition especially, is spycraft.
There's a whole TV show about Heists. The reoccurring fandom favorite characters are all working behind the scenes, hoarding knowledge. There's an entire country who plays spies for enrichment. There's actually like. Two. Ignoring my personal 2010 spy fixation era, it would be kind of cool mechanically to build quests around those ideas. Immersive sims set up some good groundwork (Thief, Dishonored, Deus Ex. Obvious reasons) and series like Hitman, all these examples are still pretty action oriented but I think that's always going to be an aspect of games.
Anyway, squad tactic spy simulator where you organize your factions to defend against the double blight in the South during the events of Veilguard with Mythal vessel Inquisitor working through some weird personal stuff at the end of the world with her new best friend, her ex's right hand man and project manager, tranquil Felassan.
#.txt#I had to decide between being sleepy and actually waking up so I have woken myself up with this.#Unfiltered video game talk for me specifically!!#I didn't include it but this sparked in my head this morning because I was mad about Solas stealing my Wardens vibes (eyebrow scar)#And decided to double down on making them parallel each other even though they'll never meet.#On my dragon age 5 antagonist being the hero of Ferelden blighted and corrupted almost beyond recognition but again. Who's fault is that.

tv tag game
— list 8 shows for your followers to get to know you better. tagged by beloved mootie @michaelmandog
1.Good Omens
This is such a feel-good show for me and cleaning out my drafts made me remember how much I love it. Also a reminder that I need to finish Staged. The friendship between the authors and the ways it impacted the book and show is so important to me...
2. Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul
"oh watch it it's the best show ever" "yeah yeah sure" and then... Meth show for middle aged dads sent me on a *checks calendar* FIVE MONTH FIXATION? I need to be euthanized. Also Michael Mando. That's all.
3.Final Space
SHINED SO BRIGHT AND GONE TOO SOON. This was THE underdog adult animation and though I've separated myself from it a lot it's still one of the best out there. Space fantasy dramedy about a convict out in space that is a testament to all that adult animation can be, but often isn't. If you can stand a bit of exec-meddling awkward humor, this one is the hardest WATCH NOW on this list. Also, catboy above voiced by Steven Yeun and he goes so hard.
4.Invincible
Continuing on the thread of amazing adult animation with a much more popular entry, this is an adaptation that is so far so much better than the source material. I stayed up til 5 am binging this. It has 4 things I love: great animation, (comic) trope subversion, GORE, and Steven Yeun (again!)
5.Futurama
This show is older than me, and I never watched it growing up, yet it still feels like home whenever I watch it. If I need to cheer up and have my TV on, this is the clear choice. It's so nostalgic and has so much heart while also being really, really fucking funny.
7.Gravity Falls
Similar to Futurama: another comfort show!! It brings back so many memories, even though I watched it after its original run. One of the rare things I own official merch of (I loved it enough to pay for shipping from the US)
7.Mob Psycho 100
Obligatory singular Anime entry. This is the one anime I'd recommend to non anime watchers, as it subverts a lot of typically annoying anime tropes and is a rare entry where the adaptation is as good if not better than the source material, and yet it's AMAZING because it OOZES with love of the source material! I'm definitely biased because it's the kind of story my middle school self needed, and that my current young-adult self... also needed. It's about growing up, about how people need other people, and it rewired my brain.
8.Rise Of The TMNT
JUST LIKE FINAL SPACE, SHINED TOO BRIGHT AND GONE ENTIRELY TOO SOON!! I was a HUGE fan of 2003 series when I was a kid and this one completely reignited my love for TMNT. The animation is poppy and dynamic and tastefully stylized, the story goes from monster of the week to the absolute insanity that is the netflix movie, and it has the kind of personality that a reboot of such an old series needs and benefits from (partially also ended up being its undoing because people hate fun). Like Final Space, if you're not averse to a little cringe humor aimed at a younger generation, I have 2 words for you: MUST! WATCH!!
HONORABLE MENTIONS BECAUSE ITS HARD TO PICK
Arcane! because all that can be said about it has already been said about it. But it is fantastic and if you have not watched it yet because "its league of legends ew" and "its a cartoon" quit being a boob and go watch it.
Mrkomir Prvi! Because it's a really funny sitcom set in medieval Croatia, and it's only here because it's incredibly obscure on a global level, but it's really the kind of original TV I love to see and rarely do. They did a pandemic episode in which they called the diseased "influenzers", enough said.
Tagging! @its-me-ej, @djcranberry, @hellomingo, @lemonykleonella, @mediasploshion and @bamsara(long time no talk!! i hope this isnt a jumpscare)
No pressure, and happy reminiscing >:)

For the Fanfic Writer Emoji Ask!
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
💞 Who’s your comfort character?
Hello @serekan thank you for asking!
I do not generally listen to music when I write fanfiction, lol, I get so absorbed in writing that music doesn't register and becomes distracting. Funny you asked this week, in a strange burst of 'can't ignore the sound of electronics in my apartment anymore' I did listen for a little bit while writing last weekend! I listened to 30 minutes of Video Game lofi on youtube before shutting it off.
If I'm writing for work/school and need to stay on taskTM, Lofi for Witches (only) by Homework Radio is a compilation that will always keep me on task. My brain says I'm studying at hogwarts when I hear this and gets tricked into working. If I can't focus because *emotions* Lofi for Vampires (only) melts the emotions into manageable and I can work.
I don't know if I have one singular comfort character. The truth is female lead of my current hyper-fixation is my comfort character. 100%. My comfort character changes depending on what I need comfort based on my life at the moment.
Spending weeks figuring out finances and jobs? Rose Tyler from Doctor Who has my back and is ready to leave the mundane behind and deal with it at the same time, reminding me adulthood isn't heartless.
Is the biggest problem in my life that I can't talk to anyone about the stresses, blunders and (false) life ending crises I experience? Katarina Claes gets it and I love her.
Am I feeling left behind by my loved ones and like I'm stuck and not achieving my dreams? It's time for another round of Pokemon and Misty is my one true comfort.
Am I feeling like the weakest link in my job and do I feel like the oddness of my upbringing prevents me from truly connecting to people like I desperately want? What do you know, Lucy Heartphilia is sitting right there in my 400 pg. rewrite of Fairy Tail with Lucy as Leo and Loke as the celestial wizard.
I lied. 97% of the time it is the female lead of my current hyperfixation is my comfort character. There is one exception to this rule and it's Chat Noir/Adrien Agreste.
