We got an interview from the artists of the second opening recently on the official PR account for the anime (translation by Dephender can be found on this link!), and I found this bit really interesting:

Q2: Which parts of the lyrics are especially meaningful? yama: One of the first parts of the lyrics I wrote has a bit that talks about "the truth of the world". I think everyone has something they pursue, and the Pokémon anime likewise has both kids that have a goal or a dream they embrace, as well as kids that haven't found a dream yet. That's why I wanted to include words like "found" or that talk about pursuing something together.

The italicized bits in the quote above being the part in the video interview during which Amethio is shown! Friede is pictured in the first part of the sentence, and then Amethio is immediately shown when yama-san is talking about how "there are kids that haven't found a dream yet."

So yeah, it was already quite clear before but Amethio doesn't have a dream and what he's been doing from the beginning isn't something he is doing for himself. While his current "objective" is similar to Roy's dream (they both want to reach Rayquaza as of now), the stark difference here is that Roy's dream is his own, it's something he wants for himself, while Amethio is acting for someone else's sake and isn't chasing his own wish.

I also like the juxtaposition of Friede and Amethio shown one after another, too. I feel like this says so much about their rivalry, they stand more or less as equals on the battlefield (which raises its own set of questions but that's for another day) but their dynamics highlights Amethio's emotional immaturity in some ways. Friede is older and has something he pursues and a goal for himself, and Amethio is younger and doesn't have something like that. Friede went through a time he felt stuck and aimless but he managed to turn his life around, so I wonder if that's something Amethio will learn too (through Friede or other circumstances).

Anyway, given how it's stated that some characters don't have a dream yet, I wonder if they will depict Amethio eventually finding one. The series is about "finding" something important through adventure, after all.

08-13 → Second anniversary of 813.

→ Fox Factory posted a bonus clip from their interview with Gong Jun. [subbed video]

08-14 → Hogan posted four photos from their Qixi commercial featuring Gong Jun that was released the previous week. (1129 kadian)

08-15 → The clothing brand GXG posted then quickly deleted a photo ad of Gong Jun, announcing a livestream for 08-29 at 16:40 (kadian!). It's assumed that this was a mistake, as no endorsement with them has been publicly announced yet.

08-16 → The Instagram posted six photos of "Zhang Zhehan" in his native habitat (airports).

→ HZ Baobao, one of the scam's million brands (the one with the ugly leopard mascot), posted an ad announcing sunglasses made in partnership with Zeiss, a high end lens company. Within a few hours, Zeiss responded to a post on Weibo made by a Zhang Zhehan anti, denying involvement and saying they would be taking action against the unauthorized use of their name. HZ Baobao hid the listing for the glasses shortly after, then reposted it with the references to Zeiss removed. Whalers proceeded to harass Zeiss on social media.

→ Gong Jun allegedly sued 100 antis including 34 whalers, with one of the whalers having made posts insinuating that Gong Jun had involvement in 813. The lawsuits are unconfirmed at the time of this post.

08-17 → Gong Jun posted a commercial he did for Hogan. (1129 kadian) This was reposted by Hogan.

→ Hogan posted four photo ads featuring Gong Jun. (1129 kadian)

→ Gong Jun's studio posted six behind the scenes photos of him from the Hogan shoot. Caption: "Seasons go by, and inspiration is throbbing. @ Gong Jun Simon moves with his heart, releasing the free and easy autumn."

→ QuelleVous posted a Twitter thread about Yajing (a livestream host who worked with Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun a number of times in 2021), explaining connections she has to Songcheng and the scam. In July 2022, Yajing posted a photo of herself wearing slippers from the EHz.Z brand only to delete it shortly afterwards when fans mass-unfollowed her, later telling marketing accounts that she was attacked by Gong Jun's fans. QuelleVous' findings suggest that Yajing was involved with the scam early on but likely backed out because of this. Follow ups: [1] [2]

08-18 → Flora began translating an article about money laundering in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. On a similar note, a family from Mainland China were arrested this week for involvement a billion dollar money laundering scam. If you want to know why all of this is relevant, refer to the roughly twenty companies registered by the scam gang within the last year.

→ The Instagram posted eight photos of "Zhang Zhehan".

→ Gong Jun posted nine scenery photos. Caption: "Chasing the sky. ☁️" (in English) He also posted ten photos to his Instagram with the same caption, including four that were not included in the Weibo post. The photographer Sheng Sheng left a comment on the Weibo post complimenting his photography, which he replied to, and his studio reposted the post with the added caption: "The handsome photographer awakening the Chinese bloodline @ Gong Jun Simon is on the line" Fan Observations: - The Instagram post was made at 14:43, the same time that Gong Jun made a post on that date in 2020. The date was the anniversary of the BAZAAR joint photoshoot; it is not known if the time has a specific significance. - One of the photos (below) is of a streetlight at sunrise, recalling the line from Zhang Zhehan's unreleased song Running To Meet You, "hurry to see you before the streetlights go out." 🥺

plz help

ok i’m just gonna. make a post asking for help and force myself to not delete it no matter how embarassed i am. please help me. tdlr: disabled/mentally ill trans system host has been unemployed for over a year and can’t consistently pay for rent and food!!

i’ve been trying to find consistent work for over a year and have had a couple interviews or other promising stuff, but nothing’s turned out. i keep trying to do commissions of multiple types (art, writing, and more), but i’ve literally gone 5+ months without a client sometimes. when i do get commissions it’s usually not for very much. i’m selling things i own online and locally. i’m borrowing money and risking getting into debt. i DO have section 8 now, which pays most of rent, i still have $30 to pay but genuinely even $30 is starting to become. impossible to get. if i’d also like to eat (non-expired, non-trash) food every week. i also work with a place that’s supposed to help disabled people find work but they’ve been treating me very poorly and constantly shifting me around to different workers instead of helping me with what i ask them to do (help me find job experience so i can be more comfortable at work). it’s really frustrating and i feel trapped.

i’m literalyl trying every option and still nothing is keeping me afloat and i can’t fucking live this way anymore so i’m just gonna become the ebeg guy!

i really just need at least $30 a month for what’s left of rent but would like to try to raise $185 - 185 is the average (give or take a bit) amount of bills that i have each month. not much in the long run, but still literally way out of my budget. i am frequently having to just let bills go unpaid until things get threatened to get cut off because i cannot make enough fucking money and i’m so tired. if i could get $185 i’d actually have some breathing room and maybe be able to save money. but also i’m aware that’s kind of a lot. beggers can’t be choosers, anything helps.

Connecting to a new tarot deck

It is important that when getting a tarot deck (either for the first time or for the hundredth time) that you form a connection with it generally before you start to use it. It is however, important to note that despite your efforts, you may not connect well with some decks regardless! That's okay, it's happened to me before. If that is the case, you can always gift the deck to another or return it. So without further ado, here are the ways I'm familiar with connecting with a new deck!

Cleanse Cleansing is SOOO important when getting a new tool that you utilize for tapping into specific energies. Cleansing is always the very first thing that you always want to do. Never forget it!! - You can use incense, selenite, knocking on the deck is a quick way I always cleanse the energy and shake it off. You can use bells or certain hz. This sounds a bit silly but it's a chaotic and resourceful way to cleanse the deck: screaming at it. Yes, screaming at your deck. Not yelling profanities or in any kind of angry way, but the vibrations can cleanse the deck too xd.

Look through the cards -Flip through each card, take your time to study the art, feel each card, and just be present while you're doing so! -You can search for your birth card too! Bring them with you! -Take the deck around with you for a few days in your back, car, purse, etc. Take them to work, school, or errands you may be running. -Along with this, for a few nights after you get the deck, sleep with it underneath your pillow or if that is uncomfortable keep it close by.

Ask some interview questions -This is always an option for me when connecting with new decks, I always like to "interview" my decks. (and when I feel disconnected to old decks, I'll re-interview them too) I like to ask questions like: -What are your strengths and weaknesses? -How are you here to help me? -What is your personality like? -Simply ask them "can you introduce yourself to me?" -What is your first impression of me? -What can I do for you? -What will our relationship look like in the future? -What do you want me to know about you? 5. Shuffle through the cards Simple as that, look through them, get a feel of them in your hands, shuffle mindlessly. It seems mundane but it is a great way to connect with your cards! What I am wearing today to the office.

Today is a court day; I think the first one since I started this blog, so I'll explain a little. I know it's been a while.

Usually, when I'm in the courtroom during trial, it's to assist the attorney in presenting evidence, so that they don't use extra time searching for things. I sometimes even take the stand, if I conducted one of the interviews, and need to present what someone said. That shouldn't happen today, as I didn't do any interviews for this case. There is just a huge amount of evidence to present. We will be basically just meeting at the office, then going straight to court. The hearing is supposed to start at 9:30, and we anticipate being there most of the day.

My courtroom wardrobe isn't too much different from typical office days. I avoid creativity, for one, obviously, and I hardly ever wear prints. If I do, it's something subtle that doesn't attention. I try to be basically monotonic, with only neutral colors, as I want to basically be "in the background". Essentially, professional but boring. I hardly ever wear my hair down, either, just so it doesn't become a distraction.

It's actually been a little while since I've done any styling with my hair, come to think of it. I started wearing my hair down once the weather cooled down, and I guess I got used to it. It's how I most like to wear my hair, but I have fun styling it, too.

With that, it's supposed to be a sunny day today, not really warm, but we've finally got rid of Ian's clouds, so the wall to wall sunshine will be great. I'm in a light color kind of mood, so I think I'll go with a beige skirt suit.

If you own a Sugar Hill record or Bob Marley’s Legend collection or Little Creatures by The Talking Heads you may not have noticed but if you look Eric E.T. Thorngren’s will be credited somewhere. Thorngren sadly passed away on Wednesday, the same day as Steve Albini, his contribution to music engineering, mixing, and production is arguably as influential as Albini but Eric E.T. Thorngren’s death has attracted far less attention. Of course Albini continued to tour and release records and that means doing interviews, on top of that to say Albini was outspoken is an understatement. Thorngren was a studio guy considered too boring for the general public, only serious music journals sought him out for interviews, Of course this is nonsense Eric E.T. Thorngren was really cool

Still in his teens New Yorker Thorngren’s first band was Eric and the Chessmen in the 1960s

“Thorngren founded a band named Bulldog with two former members of blue‑eyed soul group the Rascals — guitar player Gene Cornish and drummer Dino Danelli — in 1972, and it was the recording of a couple of albums with this outfit that sparked his interest in engineering.

After the Bulldogs, it looks like Thorngren worked as a session musician, he contributed guitar and songs to a handful of released put out by RCA in the mid to late 1970s including Take Me To Baltimore by Ruth Copeland which was arranged by Patrick Adams, and the disco album Moving Along by Australian artist Renee Geyer which was produced by Frank Wilson, both albums have some great players on them

When I first got there, there was a guy doing some recording and playing back on the console. On every channel, the bass was turned full blast. He had it at 100 Hz and they were all wide-open. They certainly needed an engineer to work there that time. They were happy to have me in there doing anything I wanted to do in the studio. They gave me the keys, and I would go in there and experiment.

We cut a song for them, with horns and the whole full production. They came into the studio, and they said, “Shut that off.” I said, “Really? Okay.” Then they said, “And shut that off.” They’re muting all these tracks, and it comes down to be this simple thing that was just earthy. I was like, “Wow!” The fact that they shut off a bunch of overdubs really opened my eyes to being able to mute tracks.”

Much of Thorngren’s career involved the phenomenon of one amazing thing leading to another. While in the process of helping Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook mix their lone album as a duo in 1984, their manager introduced Thorngren to Chris Blackwell of Island Records. In turn, Blackwell offered Thorngren the opportunity to select and mix the tracks for the unforgettable Bob Marley and the Wailers compilation, Legend. While working on that project at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, Thorngren met Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, who asked him to do a new mix of the soundtrack to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, which in turn led to him being asked to record the band’s next studio album, Little Creatures.

So I’ve chosen a rarity from 1984 recorded by Eric E.T. Thorngren. In 1984 he had just finished working with Sugar Hill and was remixing Hope Fell Down for Difford & Tilbrook as mentioned above. This led to mixing Bob Marley and Black Uhuru for Island Talking Heads for Sire and he was also working with Eurythmics on their 1984 soundtrack album. In 1985 he would be nominated for a Grammy Robert Palmer’s Riptide album

What do you think the appeal of the Pokémon anime is? I think the way the characters support each other, do their best and try to figure out what they want to do is really cool and feel like it cheers me up. Everyone in the show are really strong characters, and I personally particularly like... well, of course I like Liko and of course I like Roy, I really like all the characters, but what I PARTICULARLY like is the relationship between Explorers Amethio and Hamber. Amethio really shows how much he desperately wants to get stronger, and, well... it's so wonderful to see everyone's honest feelings on display like that. Just watching such scenes makes me want to do MY best too! There are so many scenes like that in the show that make me want to support the characters. This aspect is the one I really love about the Pokémon anime.

TGIWednesday: My brother and March 28th

TGIWednesday News

My brother was funny, smart, gorgeous even and looked like Tom Cruise, only taller.  He wore cowboy boots and women clung to him wherever he went.  Our Mom, Great Granny Ruth was a Capricorn born on Christmas Day, while my brother was Capricorn too born on New Years Day.  My father was a Leo and I am a Leo so plates being thrown during dinner was not uncommon.  March 28th was the date of Kevin’s passing and I’ll never forget the police showing up at our door to notify us.  You never really get over the death of a sibling or someone you’re close to, you just learn to deal with it over time.  Drugs and alcohol were his undoing so working with addiction clients and even recording an Addiction audio MP3 are near and dear to my heart.  I’ve even worked with Ken Seeley who has the TV show Intervention.  Any way that I can give back and help others, I do so.  There is no coming back from some of our life choices so I am reminded to choose wisely and do the best I can for myself and for others and, in the memory of Kevin, I will remember to “be entertained and have fun” which could have been his life’s motto!  I also catch glimpses of my brother in my youngest son Hunter and it makes me smile.  Now when I see Tom Cruise movies I am reminded of my brother and what might have been, but I’m also reminded that what we should reminisce over is the good times.   Wrestling with life decisions?  Get on my schedule and together we’ll create a plan and get some resolution.  Appointments View Availability First, Then Pay 15 mins  | 30 mins  | 60 mins
