I find it interesting how the short movies such as GotNF, Book of Dragon, Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon and Dawn of the Dragon Racers all perfectly adjust in with the cartoon series and keep the characterizations accordingly intact as if they are part of this ongoing continuity but the main movies later on don't do the same. I mean, the 2nd one does but not THW. It doesn't line up with anything that happened in the series, not the events, not the themes or characters or character developments or characters' experience etc. With the second movie, not including those side characters didn't make much of a difference because whatever was going on and the plot and action and storyline didn't go towards that, it wasn't necessary and the movie was great either way. It didn't even ruin the characterizations of side characters that much even with what they were doing.
But THW just... (What was the word? Can't remember) removed everything that happened in rob/dob and RTTE and it didn't make sense with the storyline. Like, what happened to the rest of the vast archipelago? The edge? The VARIOUS habitats of VARIOUS species, so many allies, so many islands, so many characters, so many gained experiences after dealing with villains far more dangerous and smarter than whoever that guy was I don't even remember the name of, what happened to that all of a sudden? It just makes zero sense and the plot was all over the place. No offense to THW fans but, there were just a few good things in the movie but a lot more nonsensical events and solutions which were absolutely ridiculous what with already established canon throughout the rest of the franchise
#like. i get the whole Learning to let go theme. but they did way better with Tuffnut and his favorite mace in a cartoon series than in thw#and turning Toothless into a mindless pet dog. wheni put this Toothless and literally every single other Toothless side by side#it's not the same character. it felt like a random friendly dob was placed inside Toothless' body bcoz ge was the most OOC ever#even worse than badly written fanfics#the one character THW got just Right aside from Hiccup and Astrid was maybe Tuffnut#felt like the characters were done ny someone who saw only httyd 1 and 2 and sae them as 'a dog is a man's friend' movie and#not the horsegirl movie#which means to say. characterizing and displays dragons as Pets who like to play with their humans and are friendly to them#and not like a horse who is not a pet but a loyal companion who doesn't just play and follow orders but is powerfula dn determined#and loyals and stays by it's owners side through thick and thin. through war. and never forgets#sorry abt the ramble. I've just been thinking about the discrepancies between the movies and the rest of the franchise#httyd#httyd thw#httyd rob#httyd dob#httyd rtte#dreamworks dragons#legend of the boneknapper dragon#book of dragons#gotnf#dawn of the dragon racers#riders of berk#defenders of berk#race to the edge#light fury does not even compare to a small percentage of what Toothless and Hiccup have. what they've been through#the one thought that was constant in my head while watching thw was seeing Toothless and going 'He would NOT fucking do that'#felt like they destroyed my one most favorite character for money tbh#httyd toothless#thw salt

Aces and their pets
Most people know of Moritz, Manfred von Richthofens beloved Great Dane (he was most likely a mutt but MvR swore up and down he was a purebred). After MvRs death Moritz got taken care of by Manfreds old friend Alfred Gerstenberg.
Tumblr media
But there are several other pets (primarily dogs) that deserve a mention as well as many of them accompanied their owners to the front.
One of them is Max Immelmanns Great Dane Tyras. Immelmann found him in an animal shelter and his name is technically a pun, as Max named him after the place he got him from (Tierasyl = Tieras = Tyras, which was also the name of Otto von Bismarcks dog). Tyras was very loved, he was regularly sketched by Immelmann and was allowed to sleep on the bed. Tyras most likely stayed with Immelmanns family after his death.
Tumblr media
The great Oswald Boelcke also had dogs. Besides horses they were his favourite animals. Shortly before the war broke out he got Ibi, an Airedale Terrier. He left Ibi at home during the war. Missing his loyal companion he got himself a German Shepherd named Wolf.
Tumblr media
Rudolf Berthold got gifted a small white terrier by comrades, name unfortunately unknown. But important enough to be included in the Sanke card.
Tumblr media
Ernst von Althaus' beloved dog Mousse was with him during the whole war. He seems to be a type of hunting breed. With him in the picture is Otto Bernert with a Jack Russel.
Tumblr media
Josef Jacobs also brought his dog Rolf to the front with him.
Tumblr media
Heinrich Gontermanns dog also had the honour of being included in the Sanke card.
Tumblr media
Richthofens former flight companion Graf Erich von Holck also had a small dog, who he took with them in the airplane during their patrols over Russia. That tough doggy survived the incident where they flew over a burning town and had to do an emergency landing but then got lost on the way back. Holck apparently was also a cat lover. There are several pictures of pilots (from all countries) with lion cubs, so there seemed to be a trend.
Tumblr media
Speaking of rather curious choices of animal companions, Ernst Udet and his comrades entertained a monkey named Betty. Unfortunately, I can't find the picture right now (does anyone have it?).
Ernst Udet tells the story of his comrade Wilhelm Klinkermann whose dog always waited right at the flight strip until his owner returned. On the day of his death the dog was very nervous and when Klinkermann didn't return, they had to force the dog into the car to take him to his family. He did not want to leave without his owner.
Tumblr media
Walter von Bülow-Bothkamp with his dog Tönnes.
Tumblr media
And here some more (I'm not sure if these dogs belong to whom they are pictured with):

Q&A
Favorite animal for all the ROs and Beka.
Hadrian prefers dogs. There's just something about them that naturally clicks with him. He never owned one, but, in those rare moments Hadrian allows himself to dream of a different life, of a house somewhere with a garden on the back and rolling hills in the front, dogs are always a part of that fantasy. Little ones hanging from his lap when he's sitting, and large ones sprawled at his feet.
He can't help but smile every time he sees a dog. Their waggly tails are a joy.
Alessa also prefers dogs. They are reliable, loyal, and smart. If she must take an animal as a companion, she needs one she can trust, and she knows she can trust a dog. That they have big, soulful eyes, and adorable ears and twitch and turn when they dream is unrelated. That her lips quirk whenever one goes running like mad when they see their owner is also irrelevant.
'Tis not important how pure they can be. How cheerful. How different they are from her. A sturdy, reliable companion. That's what Alessa would pick, if she had the freedom to. If she led a different life.
Alain likes all kinds of birds. He likes watching them, likes listening to them, likes to imagine what it'd be like to flap a pair of wings and fly wherever one desires. To have the sky as your home. Yes, he wonders, wine in hand, eyes on the ceiling.
He likes all types of birds but, if hard pressed, Alain supposes he prefers those little sparrows. They're not impressively handsome, they don't have flashy colors or large plumes or wings that take up the whole of the sky. Their song isn't very complex, nor is it particularly beautiful. They are just... little beings, flapping around, but it is their voices he hears first thing in the morning. Every day, without fail.
Alain can count on it. To hear the song of the sparrows.
Ysabella adores horses. She adores them. She could spend hours looking at them, eating grass on a hill, running on a track, or simply laying with their big bellies on the ground, tongue lolling, hooves sticking in the air. She adores them.
She wishes she could ride one every day. She envies those that can, the guards that roam the city streets, the merchants that leave on their wagons, and the peasants who ride with their wares. Oh, how she envies them all, standing near her window, looking out onto the world.
It is in her dreams, in their freedom, that she rides one while wearing trousers with her hair free in the wind and a large, unladylike smile on her face. She jumps over walls and races other riders, and, in the end, she sits with her mare beside a creek and shares the shade and the cold water. A friend, a companion. A soul as free as her, in the depths of this dreamland.
"I have no need for little beasts," The Pirate King would tell you, eyes firmly set on the horizon, beard swaying with the wind. His clothes would be swaying too, long coat tails flapping near his chins and a loose shirt covering and uncovering his chest.
He has no need for pets. He doesn't mind seagulls, for they warn when a storm is coming, but their cries are like knives to his ears. Dogs are too destructive, and horses are a nightmare to maneuver. He keeps falling off the saddle, and they never listen to him, and The Pirate has steady legs, but he turns into an awkward halfwit whenever he rides one.
Fish are fun to look at, especially when he comes across the bright pink and blue coral reefs. The Pirate sees the multitude of little fishes there as well as big ones, and fat ones, and ones so long and slippery, it reminded him of tight ropes. Once, he saw a great shark, skin grey and head as large as a boulder, patrolling the shallow waters, and The Pirate supposes that was impressive enough. But fishes rule the seas, and no man has any right to own one.
He has absolutely no need for beasts. Humans are more than enough, he doesn't need anything else on his hands.
But... but. He's been seen, oftentimes, scratching the heads of stray cats on the various docks he travels to. And he thinks their noses, so tiny, can be quite fond to look at. And their eyes, so round and big on their tiny heads, are like the moon on a cloudless night. And The Pirate would never admit it, but the sounds they make have him biting back a smile.
They make so many strange, nonsensical noises. They rumble like birds sometimes or yell like a babe crying for their mother's tits, and there's this one cat, this one black and white stray who he swears he's heard saying "no" once. He swears on all the rings on his fingers.
And the way they wiggle their butt when they're about to tear the throat of a poor mouse has him cracking up laughing.
The little devils. The Pirate has no favorite animal, he's not a soft-hearted fool. But, if he had a sword to his neck, if he had to absolutely pick one... he supposes he'd keep a cat on his ship. At least, until he could find it a better home.
Neia used to rest her forehead against the forehead of her horse. The horse who burned alongside her, the one whose screams she listened to before she started to scream herself. Her horse, Dawn. Her bloody horse.
Neia doesn't have a favorite species, she cares for individuals. She cared for Dawn. That's who her favorite animal was. To hell with anything else.
Lance likes to think of himself as a lover of all animals. Squirrels, rats, magpies, butterflies, cats, pigeons, worms, and even spiders, hanging upside down from their marvelous webs. Once, the same moth kept coming near his night candle for three nights in a row, and Lance mourned when the little thing — which he baptized as Lucy on the second night — didn't return for a fourth.
Lance likes them all, but only one has his heart and that is, naturally, his dear Chouriça. His old lady, the dog that landed on his lap when she could barely open her eyes, and a younger Lance swore then, that he'd be there when it was time for her to close her eyes for eternity. He'll be there in the final goodbye, with a bleeding heart and a crying soul.
But he'll be there.
Rafael likes them quick, clever, and lithe. The kind that escapes, that uses its wits to trump over those who are more powerful and naturally gifted. Fuck that. It's not fun to have it all, you have to earn it. So, Rafael respects the prey who doesn't fall for the predator.
Whether it's rats, too quick for them cats to catch, or rabbits, twisting away from an eagle's claws at the very last second. Or a little ferret, scarring up a tree to escape from a hound's maul. He likes to sit on the ground when he's watching a building that he'll rob later, and leave pieces of cheese on the palm of his hand.
Sooner or later, Rafael will see the little snout of rats sniffing the air, and his lips will twist in the barest of smiles. A long enough watch will have those little buggers coming closer and, the next day, closer still. Until, eventually, they'll take the cheese out of his hand and scurry away.
And Rafael will laugh, delighted. Cute little bastards.
Beka doesn't like dogs. They're friends of the blue-capped pigs, and they guard the pretty houses with high fences full of coin and food and trinkets Beka can only dream of. She doesn't like horses either because they help the guards run faster than she'll ever be able to. She doesn't like cats, those round-eyed creeps, always watching her when she tries to be silent. She dislikes pigeons because they carry away pieces of bread on their stupid beaks, and Beka can't reach them on top of the walls.
She doesn't like... many things.
But she never hurt one of them stupid animals either. Once, the kids were having fun playing with a snail they caught on some leaf. They were trying to separate it from its shell, and Beka knows she couldn't hear it screaming, but she swears it was. She picked up a rock and cracked the nose of the leader. Beka left that fight with a black eye and a busted lip, but the snail had been safe in her palm.
She also found a white puppy once, so small it couldn't walk, freezing in a corner on a rainy winter night. The thing was full of fleas and reeked like hell, but he was shaking and whimpering, and Beka took him in her arms and curled around him until they both fell asleep.
The puppy never woke up. Beka will never admit to the hot tears she had shed, nor will she tell anyone about the patch of dirt she dug to bury him.
Animals are stupid and worthless, and they don't do anything but make her life harder. But Beka would rather cut off her own hand than hurt any of them. They don't deserve it.
What are the ROs thoughts on children and marriage?
I will admit, at this point in their lives, none of the ROs can seriously think about marriage and children or anything ahead of what is the immediate future. They all live... very unstable lives at the moment, and those circumstances don't allow them to think much of what stability can look like.
Hadrian doesn't think of the future much. He doesn't like to. He also doesn't particularly like to dwell on the past. Which puts him in a difficult position, because Hadrian isn't one of those people who can breeze through life with their heads in the clouds, a shrug on their shoulders, and a smile on their carefree lips. Events matter, choices matter, and they matter because they not only affect others, but they affect himself — they affect his future.

Your OCs have the option of adopting a pet. Any pet. Which kinda pet and would they or would they not?
Love this question! Let’s see:
Morgan would absolutely adopt a cat. She’s such a cat person 💞 I even have a fic concept floating around on Tumblr that’s loosely related to this: the “cat!sav” concept in which Savitar gets turned into a cat and Morgan takes him in, and many feels ensue…though tbh Morgan adopting a cat in general would be perfect
Reyna is also a cat person—she’s pretty reserved and likes a pet who is much the same. (Nora’s more of a dog person, they argue about it sometimes 😂)
Amelia would absolutely adopt a dog. Dogs are loyal and very affectionate, and I think Amelia as someone who’s so very lonely would love a companion like that (omg and if she adopts a little golden retriever puppy during the Blip, possibly as a gift from Otto and Rosie, and names him “Peter”…🥺)
Lucy…hmm I don’t think she’s much of a pet person usually? And I’m not super familiar with how the idea of pets works in the GFFA, and which pets would be popular. Maybe if Star Wars has something like a horse/pony? Lucy strikes me as a horse girl. But fr if “no pets” is an option, she’s picking that one 😂

Aracnoid Lore 4!!!!
The fauna of Scorpia (What it used the be the Aracnoid planet) A part of the horrofying kaju apex predator Dovem Yasude. There were more fauna that Aracnoids has to deal with or were able to domestiacet! Let's start with the domestic pets! Now all the fauna I will show are safe and in alien animal santuaries on earth, except of the firts two who are becoming the new Earth domestic pets.
Tumblr media
Maratus Suruneko are the equibalent of house cats, and share a few things too like; Having litters of Maras (name for baby Maratus) and each baby has diferent patrons of furr or colors. They have the same colors are peakock jumping spiders. The size of a Maine Coon cat. They do a little funny jumping spider dance with their hind legs to show they want atention. By standing in their four front legs, open the flpas of their adomen and tail and move the hind legs like jumping spiders do. They are friendly, playfull and will protect any one of their family till the end. And help a lot hunting any berming like cats do. Their diet is homnivore.
Tumblr media
Linnaeus Gran, the equibalent of dogs. Aracnoids usually train them to help them hunt and company them for expeditions. But can be a perfect house companion! Even if they look intimidating, they are softies and cuddle bugs *ba dum clash*. They are big, 4 ft and 6 feet long. Their diet is carnivore. Btw, the babys are called Plups.
Tumblr media
Bos Vindex. The cows and bulls for aracnoids. Like humans do, they don't only provide good meat, but also milk! The females are calm and peacefull unless provoked, thei have perfect vision. The males in the other hand, they are partialy blind, like if they have cataracts. Only allows them to see movement and depend on smell, wich if you are eating a salad or you are vegan, the males will push you and eat your vegetables or fruit. And when I mean push you, I mean set you flying away. Only males do this so wach out.
Tumblr media
Ovicapra Caelifera. Have whe whool like sheeps but the territoriality of a goat, and the temper too. They are fruitivores, and they usually in the wild, jumpt to the branches to get thier food. Also be carefull with their kicks cus thei can live you paralized. Females are the dominat ones in the herds mean while the males rise and take care of the babys. Even if their baby name looks funny and on purpose, is a full coincidence, the babys are called Jump.
Tumblr media
Tronchilidae Calopterix. They are the mounts like horses for the aracnids. With cian blue metalic glow on theyr light feathers and the same range of vision as a dragonfly. Even with their size, they can be docile, loyal and really friendly cus they consider thier rider and it's family part of the flock. The babys are usually called Cryuxx, that means Fluff in aracnoid. They love eating flowers and small insects.
Now, let's start with the wild ones! shall we?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robo Paraponera. They act like wolfs but in number of an ant colony. The workers are only and only males, there no guard Robos since them selfs are guardians, hunters, ect. Meanwhile the female, ak; The queen of the pack are in charge of asexualy habing babys three months of the year. But when she is not delivering babys, she joins to hunt with her pack. They are only agresive if you are near their colony hide or proboked. But if you don't do anything to them, they will do nothing to you, not even if the queen is present. The babys are called Clum when male and Tikqüe when is female. Also, the queen has a pouch to carry the next queen baby till she fully grows. You can domesticate them if you are accepted by the queen or rise a tikqüe.
Tumblr media
Cyaneo Sumirrodon. A far way cousin of the Maratus Suruneko. Way bigger and more dangerous. Solotary and migratory indibiduals, fearded by their potent venom that can live anyone in to vegetal state. But to do that you have to survive thoes big saber fangs frist. They are agresive and acts like tigers. But if you can rise them, you have a companion for life. Now prepare your self to buy tons of meat to feed them.

Beast Master Ranking (5e)
Guide
1=useless
2=often useful
3=sometimes useful
4=perfect
Primal Companion 4yYour defining feature your companion is equal parts pet and weapon. Unlike summoned pets which other classes might use your pet sticks around all the time. You don’t need to summon it or whatever. However, like any other member of your party it needs food healing and whatever else a member of the party needs
Exceptional Training 4 making your companion’s attacks magical is the only thing you actually benefit from here but it’s crucial. Resistance to non-magic weapon attacks is common and becomes more common as you gain levels
Bestial Fury 4 your beast gets 2 attacks and it still only costs you a Bonus Action to command them
Share Spells 4 this is a fantastic way to share buff spells especially those which require Concentration
Final Ranking 4 Beast Master redefines Ranger by giving them a cool pet who fights alongside them in combat. The image of a rough-hewn explorer braving a dangerous world with a loyal beast at their side is a classic fantasy trope and Beast Master executes on that trope very well
in response to @doodl3's question I shall now list every animal you can have as a companion won't be ranking them though even though a mass majority suck in terms of stats
Baboon, Badger, Bat, Blood Hawk, Boar, Cat, Crab, Cranium Rat, Deer, Dimetrodon, Eagle, Flying Snake, Frog, Giant Badger, Giant Centipede, Giant Crab, Giant Fire Beetle, Giant Frog, Giant Poisonous Snake, Giant Rat, Giant Weasel, Giant Wolf Spider, Goat, Hawk, Hyena, Jackal, Lizard, Mastiff, Mule, Octopus, Owl, Panther, Poisonous Snake, Pony, Pteranodon, Quipper, Raven, Scorpion, Sea Horse, Spider, Stirge, Velocaraptor, Vulture, Weasel and Wolf

CLASS OF HEROES AU: SIDEKICKS
Here’s a bonus post for today, I guess! I finished this two days ago and completely forgot to post it! I added the new characters and decided to post it today! Enjoy, and as always, credit to @imsparky2002 and @artzychic27!
Marinette:
Plagg-Mushu: A snarky feline ‘guardian spirit’ who accompanied Marinette to the school in order to ‘guide’ her in becoming a worthy warrior. His real goal may be to regain his standing as a guardian, but he cares about the kid a lot.
Tikki-Cri Kee: Marinette’s ‘lucky cricket’, gifted to her by her Grandmother before going to the school. She may not be able to talk, but she still manages to keep Plagg in line and help guide Marinette.
Kaalki-Khan: Marinette’s loyal horse. Fiercely protective of the girl, but a bit pompous and gets annoyed easily, as evidenced by her tendency to trample Plagg over the head.
Adrien:
Sass-Pascal: Adrien’s beloved pet snake, who got into the tower when he was a child. Sass can change his scale color as he needs, so Gabriel never found him. He comes with Adrien to the school and often hangs about on his shoulders.
Max:
Markov-Baymax: Max’s constant companion, a large, blue pillow-like robot with artificial intelligence, he was designed by Max’s late cousin who he saw as a brother, though Max was the one who built him. He is kind and gentle, his primary purpose being to tend to the sick and wounded, but don’t underestimate him. He also has some impressive fight programming.
Kim:
Xuppu-Pegasus: Kim’s winged horse, gifted to him as a baby, that has a tendency to act more like a monkey at times. He’s much more mischievous than Pegasus and has a tendency to mess with his nitwit of a demigod. He’s fiercely loyal to Kim, though, and would do anything to protect him. He loves Ondine and often competes with Kim for her attention.
Alix:
Jalil-Abu: (Yes, I made him a monkey, what of it?): Alix’s dimwitted primate companion, named after her brother, who died when she was young. Fanatical and impulsive, he’s gotten Alix into quite a bit of trouble when he can’t contain his curiosity.
Ivan:
Stompp-Hugo: A gargoyle that resembles an ox, Stompp is hot-tempered and encourages Ivan to stand up and strike back against his bullies. He can be a bit much, but he cares a lot about Ivan.
Pollen-Victor: An insect-like gargoyle with a love of drama and romance. Encourages Ivan in romancing Mylene, gushing over the two at any possible opportunity.
Wayzz-Laverne: A turtle-esque gargoyle, and the oldest and wisest of the three. Ivan goes to him for advice or just someone to vent to. Kind and caring, he supports the boy in every way he can.
Zoe:
Mullo-Jaq: Zoe’s most frequent mouse companion, and the leader of the bunch. The one who organizes all the other mice with plans to help their ‘ZoZo’. Sassy and spirited, he loves messing with Chloé as retribution for how she treats his friend.
Fluff-Gus: A pygmy rabbit, she serves as Mullo’s right hand in helping Zoe. As absentminded and spacey as she may be, she loves Zoe as much as the other mice and does all she can to help her.
Sabrina:
Nooroo-Jiminy Cricket: A small anthropomorphic butterfly spirit, assigned by Aurore to serve as Sabrina’s conscience. Unlike Jiminy, he has experience, and is kind and patient with the girl, but firm when he needs to be to help her be the best person she can be.
Ondine:
Duusu-Scuttle: A seagull with bright splotches of color in his feathers, Ondine gets most of her (incorrect) information about the surface world from him. He may not know as much as he thinks he does, but he cares about her deeply and does his best to keep her safe.
Kagami:
Longg-Angus: Kagami’s massive shire horse, and her primary means of transport. While fiercely loyal to and protective of Kagami, he is generally quite calm and serves as a comforting presence for the girl.
Mireille:
Alec-Timon: A wisecracking meerkat who initially sees the young Mireille as a ticket to safety from predators. He grows to genuinely care for the girl and is by her side when she goes to take back the Pride Lands.
Theo- Puumba: A slow-witted but kindhearted warthog who suggests to Alec that they look after Mireille after she flees the Pride Lands. He encourages her to go to the school when she receives an invitation, thinking it could be good for her to meet new people.
Austin T.:
Roaar-Rajah(Obviously): Austin’s pet tiger, who was given to him as a child, she is fiercely protective of the boy, serving as both his transport and a cuddling buddy. It takes her a while to warm up to Jean.
Note: Jagged, Penny and Anarka are Lumiere, Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts respectively, they’ll be detailed in my upcoming post about family!

Hey there folks! I'm back with another fallout prime pokemon team! So I know I did cooper as The Ghoul the other day, but I wanted to do pre-war Cooper and his team too! I think I'll do Lucy next ^^ but yall aren't here for me, you're here for the teams so....
Team Cooper
Tumblr media
1. Rapidash
Tumblr media
Well of course he needs a horse like pokemon during this time. I'd imagine she's been in a few of his movies too. I headcanon that he raised her from a ponyta and was probably one of his first pokemon.
2. Arcanine
Tumblr media
Cmon guys...you didn't think I'd not give him another dog right? Just this fellows a bit bigger and he can be ridden around on. He often challenges rapidash to races, and they're always pretty close.
3. Altaria
Tumblr media
Okay so...hear me out. Altaria was a swablu that Barb got Coop for an anniversary, possibly their first wedding anniversary. She was originally intended to be like a house pet pokemon but Cooper insisted on training her to guard the house. Altaria was a sweetheart, helpful around the Howard household and vigilant in her duty to protect her humans.
4. Duskull
Tumblr media
Duksull was a late addition to the team. Cooper actually caught him to be a companion for Janey, possibly have him be her first pokemon. Despite his spooky appearance, Cooper's Duskull was empathic and generally kind. He was fiercely loyal to both Coop and his daughter.
5. Braviary
Tumblr media
This one I feel just makes sense. Braviary I feel is a reflection of who Cooper Howard was: strong, loyal, caring, and heroic. I had the idea that he actually rescued braviary when he was in the marines, freeing him from a trap, and he just stuck with him since.
6. Excadrill
Tumblr media
Definitely caught as a drillbur, excadrill was the bravest of Cooper's original team. He was also the longest lasting after the bombs fell, accompanying him into the wasteland for the first fifty years after, and staying by his side as his body mutated. Excadrill was protective of his trainer, coming off as guarded and vicious at the end...
And that was team Cooper! If you guys have any suggestions I'm up for it ^^ I plan to do Lucy next, so stay tuned! Thank you!

Favourite headcanons pt. 2
Schmendrick being bi and not shy about it. One of his biggest heartbreaks was caused by another wizard he fell head over heels for. Said wizard was emotionally manipulative and made game of Schmendrick’s efforts to become a real magician, constantly reminding him how he could have chosen a more fitting companion for himself instead of Schmendrick. Took Schmendrick a while to recognize the pattern of abusive behaviour, not wanting to admit to himself that his partner did not respect him as a person. The last straw: when Schmendrick was asked to pretend to not know him while at a gathering of wizards, so he would “have not embarrassed him”.
Lìr being secretly aware that Haggard would not have kept close anything that did not make him happy and this, deep down, makes him hope that Haggard cares at least a little about his adopted son. Too bad Haggard hasn’t gotten rid of him simply because he is curious to see if Lìr is really the one who is going to take down his castle, according to the prophecy.
Up to the moment he had reached for his full power, Schmendrick had carried a pouch of gunpowder around his neck. What for? To quickly blow up in the unfortunate case he would have been sentenced to the stake for sorcery in unwelcoming regions and cities while he was still powerless and unable to free himself by magic, instead of slowly burning.
Mabruk being the one who had taught Haggard how to “train” the Red Bull to do what he wants. He knows about the unicorns being kept captive into the sea but doesn’t lift a finger. When he is let go, he does not talk out of pure spite.
Schmendrick being mildly claustrophobic due to have been sealed in a barrel by other apprentices for almost an entire day and dared to get out of it, in a mockery of his skills and of him coming from a family of coopers. Nothing paralyzing, but he would start to be very uncomfortable and fidgety in constrictive spaces.
Molly and Cully first met while he was trying to steal hens from her family’s chicken coop and she threatened to beat him up with a log, scaring him away. They started to regularly meet at dusk since then, before they eloped after Molly had become known as “the bandit’s wife” around her small village and everyone was afraid to talk to her in fear of repercussions.
Lìr has almost gotten engaged to the princess in distress sent to him by Schmendrick at the end of the book – feeling it was his “duty” to. She was the one to realize they could never be happy together because he was in love with someone else. She becomes a great friend and a loyal counsellor, one of the few with whom Lìr feels comfortable to confide. When she dies after a horse ride incident, Lìr’s mind begins to go adrift.
Schmendrick and Molly never using pet names between them and very seldom saying they love each other out loud. When they do, it means that the situation is god-awful. Lìr knows that when Schmendrick calls Molly “beloved” it is time to seriously worry.
Sometimes Molly feels the need to be alone for a while. She had been surrounded by people all her life and rarely had the opportunity to go on her own adventures. Every now and then she would announce Schmendrick that she would leave for - dunno, a couple of weeks or a month? - and he would just be like “’kay bye, travel safe and please let me know when you are coming back. Have fun!” because they both trust each other so much.

Happy WBW, NL!! "Do many people own pets, like cats and dogs? What about magical pets?"
Tumblr media
Hi, Midnight. Happy WBW. Thank you so much for the ask. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
Pets are very common on the Arathean continent, but I'm going to focus on the region during the time period of Cold as Ice, as there are animal companions in that trilogy.
Tumblr media
In the lower class, their livestock were pets as they lived side by side with the animals in the Dregs. Children would sleep next to pigs and ride cows.
Cats were not the pets as we know them. Their main purpose was to kill the rats in the Dregs and the Olessan Forum. These cats were feral and would run whenever an unfamiliar person approached.
However, it was not unusual for commoners to feed the felines. These cats were not beloved to others and often looked at as the carriers of disease. There are legends about immense cats gobbling up children.
In the noble houses, it is common for the men to have hounds. There was an annual fox, stag, and hare hunting event in the King’s Forest. While there were no horses, these men would allow their hounds to corner the prey before shooting it.
Tumblr media
Exotic Pets
Harpy Eagles (Aquilina)
An illegal fox hunt is exactly how a young Cyras Covelli came to befriend Aquilina. This eagle’s species call Avis their home. Her foster father’s hounds had corner the poor fledgling and was tearing it to shreds.
Cyras would call upon her magick and heal the bird’s wounds and tend to her with such kindness that was withheld from her. Aquilina is very loyal to Cyras and can be seen rubbing her face against the Glorendine.
When she was forced into the union with the Olessan steward, Aquilina came with her. Aquilina would often comfort Cyras as her husband spend long hours in the city Olessa, the capital of the Olessan Empire.
After her husband’s death and her ascension as Stewardess, Cyras would build an aviary on her estate in Olessa. She can commonly be seen in the aviary tended to the Aquilina and the other birds.
People are hesitant to approach Aquilina. It is known that her species can crush a man’s skull with their talons. They have been known to pick up children and fly them off a cliff to drop them.
Wyverns (Aurelius)
There is only one person in the Olessan Empire who keeps a wyvern. If you ask Silas if Aurelius is his pet, he will quickly protest and say that he is his companion.
The Dragon King Brennan had once entrusted the Silvius side of the Arturis family with protecting the lesser draconic creatures. They would form bonds with their human handlers and become loyal creatures. This is how Silas met Aurelius.
Aurelius’ cousins are the dragons rumored to be lurking in the Valerian Wilds. Some say he is a direct descendant of the Dragon King, Brennan, but this is false. He is about 16 feet in length, weighs about 2,000 lbs, and a 40-foot wingspan.
Unlike his draconic cousins, he only has a pair of hind legs. His tail is almost half of his body. Aurelius is very mobile.
Many noblemen and women give the crown prince’s cousin a wide berth when Aurelius is with them. They do respect the wyvern, but they think that he is aggressive and not intelligent.
That’s the furthest thing from the truth. He is deeply loyal to Silas and protects those his master calls friends. Aurelius plays a pivotal character in CAI. There is a place in the book where he rescues her.
Greater Horses (Magnus)
Greater horses are considered sacred in the Olessan Empire. Magnus is Cyras Covelli’s black horse. She would befriend this creature when she was younger and sent on a pilgrimage with Aquilina into the Valarian Wilds.
Magnus is the only greater horse in Olessa. She commonly will tell the tale of how he was descended from the greatest horse on the Arathean continent.
He is very strong, kind, and intelligent as well as gentle. Like all of the other greater horses, Magnus can talk but only does to those who he deems worthy. He lives well beyond the Dark Savior trilogy.
The nobility often is astonished that Magnus would accept the Stewardess as a friend rather than a priestess. They often think that he should be housed in one of the temples that dot the Olessan region.
Fenwolves (Maximus)
Finally, we come to the Crown Prince’s animal companion: Maximus. I wanted a dire wolf to the be the companion of Vaene, but I decided against it and created my own species.
In the Olessan region, Maximus is a rare form of wolf called a fenwolf. He has a larger size and wider skull than a regular wolf. He has shorter limbs relative to his body size. Maximus has reddish fur but with green moss growing over his back. The moss consists of slender stems, bearing alterative thin, curly, heavy leaves about 0.8 inches long and .04 broads, that grow in chain-like fashion. This moss hangs down Maximus’ sides and stops at the wolf’s thigh.
It is rumored that after his wife and son’s death that Vaene went into the swamp surrounding Olessa with the purpose of joining his family in the afterlife. It was here that he found the wolf pup clinging to his mother’s body.
Maximus is fiercely loyal to Vaene, even Vaene’s bodyguard is fearful of him, comparing him to Eastern myths about ferocious devil-dogs.

Horse anon, with more ideas. This time for plot.
The Arbiter could be a role given to the leader of the collective herd, that eventually becomes a mark of shame for horses that are still useful, but also a liability. Riden by equally shamed riders.
Thel still accepts this role, getting branded the same way, except on his flank instead of his chest.
The plot plays out almost the exact same, but it also is kinda like the movie Spirit. With the horses trying to make it back to the wilds of Sanghelios, worrying not for gods or anything. Going back to not needing riders, or caretakers, with a poetic goodbye to their human companions they made in the end.
There would probably be more Kig-Yar, Jiralhanae, and Unggoy allies to humanity in this AU, since they would be the riders, and the horses don't have their own faction. That would add a bit more dynamic to the rest of the series. (Are any of their family members still loyal to the covenant? Any of them loyal to the banished? Do they still hate humans?)
The flood would probably call the Arbiter a  Caisson horse instead of a pallbearer, since a caisson is a cart used to carry bodies in the military.
There would also probably be a lot of scenes showing "good" and "bad" brutes handling the horses. Like Tartarus cracking whips, acting like he's going to hit the horses, or just scaring his own steed in submission till it swallows its honor and accepts being riden. While the "good" brutes treat their horses more decently, calling them stupid or getting mildly annoyed when they have minds of their own.
The great schism could be caused by the horses, instead of the Prophets decreeing a civil war. The horses that find out that the great journey is a lie drag their riders to the proof, and whine, whinny, and beg for their riders to listen. Leading to infighting, many people dying, and an eventual truce between a large portion of the covenant. The horses still loyal to the covenant would be put down like the animals they technically are, this mass extermination being because the Prophets fear these horses are just getting too old, they're scaring people, and bringing them too close to the truth. They don't understand how intelligent these being are, unlike the more skilled riders. They see them as animals that can handle plasma fire without bolting and that's it. They don't care about the horses, or how close the riders are to them. (Which just makes the schism worse, because like HELL are some of these brutes going to kill an animal they treated like a pack member. Sure, it's a dumb prey animal that's too sassy for its own good, but it's THEIR dumb prey animal that's too sassy for its own good!)
To some members of the covenant, the horses aren't these arrogant livestock, they're family. If it means giving up paradise, they're siding on the side that respects their pets.
What could solidify the truce could be "The Demon" giving the Arbiter an apple in front of a heard. Or sugar cubes. Or maybe Sargeant Johnson could do it. Either way, seeing their enemy being gentler with their horses than the Prophets ever were would DEFINITELY lower tension a bit more than in the original halo.
Tumblr media
Arbiter a mark of shame after a rather disruptive dispute between the 'Prophets' and Sanghelios horses, where maybe one particular Arbiter [Fal'Chavamee] killed a Prophet or kicked him in the head attempting to protect his herd. * Arbiter Ripa Moramee, ruthless sangheli-horse with a nature similar to Jega, but larger and commanding other Sangheli-horses around him to go forth into battle despite the cost of their lives. Including their Riders. Marking Ripa as a notorious beast that one Prophet of Mercy seems to take an interest in and attempts to tame him, ending both their lives due to such a cost in war. * Arbiter Thel [present good boi] I like the idea of him being ridden by Master chief at some point and galloping into battle. Killing any who stand in their way and taking out sweet revenge.
Halo 3 might even have Thel shown with a Herd leading from halo 2's assault and fall of the Prophets and Chief is like " Hey we worked as a good team, here's a sugar cube. Now lets go to battle" Yeah I can imagine this one a lot
Halo 5 Thel would be a heavily armored Sangheli-horse and considered like the strongest lead stallion amongst all other herds. So much so no other Stallion would be game enough to raise a hoof. He wouldn't be a mere beast to be tamed but rather looked up to for guidance and only able to be ridden by the most valiant of other tribes, pretty much only Chief.
I really like these ideas :D plus Thel would be such a good boi <3

National Dog Survey 2024: Unleashing the Stats, Facts, and Furry Insights!
Tumblr media
Dog lovers, listen up!  The National Dog Survey 2024 is here, and it's tail- waggingly exciting! Whether you're a seasoned dog owner or dreaming about adopting your first fur baby, this survey reveals eye-opening trends, favorite breeds, quirky behaviors, and even what makes our furry friends happiest. So, what’s new in the canine world for 2024? Let's dig into the details and see what our four-legged pals are up to this year. Ready to uncover some pawsome facts?
What Is the National Dog Survey 2024?
You might be wondering, “What’s the big deal about the National Dog Survey 2024?” Well, it's the ultimate annual report that tracks the evolving relationship between humans and their beloved canines. The survey gathers data from thousands of dog owners nationwide, capturing everything from breed preferences to the latest trends in dog care.
Why Should Dog Owners Care?
If you’re a proud dog parent, this survey gives you a peek into what others in the dog community are up to. Are you ahead of the curve, or is there something new you can learn? From dog food choices to popular training methods, the National Dog Survey 2024 dishes out all the canine info you need to keep your pup happy and healthy.
Top Dog Breeds of 2024: Who’s Leading the Pack?
Every year, the survey highlights the most popular dog breeds, and 2024 is no different! If you're thinking of adopting a new best friend, these breeds are stealing the spotlight:
Labrador Retrievers – These classic companions never go out of style!
French Bulldogs – Compact, cute, and full of personality.
Golden Retrievers – Friendly, loyal, and always ready for playtime.
German Shepherds – Intelligent and protective, perfect for active families.
Dachshunds – Small size, big heart!
Are any of these breeds on your radar? 🤔
Rising Stars in the Canine World
But hold your horses! Some lesser-known breeds are gaining attention in the National Dog Survey 2024. Dogs like the Cavapoo, a delightful mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle, are stealing hearts with their hypoallergenic coats and affectionate nature. You might want to keep an eye on these rising stars if you're considering bringing a new pup home.
Doggie Diet Trends: What’s in the Bowl?
Just like human food trends, dog diets are evolving, too. The National Dog Survey 2024 uncovered some interesting tidbits on how pet parents are feeding their dogs. From raw diets to grain-free kibble, it’s clear that owners are paying more attention to what goes into their dogs' bowls.
Raw Diets: More owners are opting for raw, unprocessed food, aiming to mimic what dogs would naturally eat in the wild. Sounds primal, right?
Organic Options: Organic dog food is booming, as owners are becoming more cautious about preservatives and artificial additives.
Plant-Based Diets: Believe it or not, there’s a growing trend of plant-based dog diets. Some argue it’s better for the environment and can even benefit certain dog health conditions.
But Is It Right for Your Dog?
Choosing the best diet for your furry friend can feel like a balancing act. So, if you’re scratching your head, remember to consult your vet! The National Dog Survey 2024 reminds us that while trends come and go, your dog’s individual needs should always be the top priority.
Training Techniques: From Classic to Cutting Edge
The way we train our dogs has come a long way from simple sit-and-stay commands. The National Dog Survey 2024 shines a light on the most effective and popular training techniques of the year.
Positive Reinforcement: Still the gold standard, rewarding good behavior with treats, toys, or affection is the go-to for most owners.
Clicker Training: This technique uses a small device to make a clicking sound, marking the exact moment your dog does something right. It’s all about timing!
Balanced Training: A blend of positive reinforcement with corrections when necessary—though some dog experts still debate its merits.
Curious about whether your training methods are in line with the trends? 🐶
The Well-Being of Our Canine Companions
When it comes to keeping our dogs happy, it’s not all about food and toys (though they certainly help!). The National Dog Survey 2024 revealed that mental and emotional well-being is taking center stage in 2024. Owners are increasingly mindful of their dogs' stress levels, anxiety, and overall happiness.
How Can You Boost Your Dog’s Mood?
Daily Walks: Unsurprisingly, daily walks topped the list as the best way to keep a dog’s tail wagging. Fresh air, new smells, and a little exercise go a long way.
Mental Stimulation: Puzzle toys, treat dispensers, and obedience training keep your dog's brain engaged and sharp. Bored dogs are unhappy dogs!
Companionship: Dogs are pack animals, and they thrive on human interaction. Whether it's playtime, cuddles, or just hanging out, your dog wants to be around you.
Surprising Findings: Dogs and Social Media
In this digital age, it’s not just humans who are becoming social media stars—dogs are, too! The National Dog Survey 2024 found that a surprising number of dogs have their own social media accounts, with many even surpassing their owners in followers. Imagine that!
Does Your Dog Have an Instagram?
Instagram-famous dogs are often decked out in stylish outfits, showing off their tricks, or simply being their adorable selves. And let's be honest, who doesn’t love a daily dose of cute dog content?
The Future of the National Dog Survey
What does the future hold for the National Dog Survey? With technology advancing, we may see even more innovative ways to care for and connect with our furry companions. From pet-friendly smart homes to AI-powered dog toys, the possibilities are endless! But one thing’s for sure: our bond with dogs will only grow stronger with each passing year.
Conclusion
The National Dog Survey 2024 offers more than just cute facts and figures—it gives us an in-depth look into the evolving world of dog ownership. Whether it’s picking the right breed, choosing the healthiest food, or keeping your dog happy and well-trained, this year’s survey is packed with insights for every dog lover. So, what have you learned from the latest canine trends? Maybe it's time to treat your dog to something new or share their antics on Instagram. After all, they deserve it!

Corgi Dog Breeds: Characteristics & Care Tips For You
The Corgi is an active and intelligent dog breed that was created to herd cattle, sheep, and horses. Pembrokes are excellent companions for children and other pets because they are easy to train and eager to learn. They have four distinct coat colours and markings.
Despite the fact that these are purebred dogs, they may end up in the care of shelters or rescue organisations. Remember to think about adopting or fostering. Do not go shopping if you want to bring a dog home.
Introduction
Corgis, specifically the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, are popular dog breeds known for their distinct appearance, high energy levels, and friendly demeanour. Despite their small size, they have a long history of herding and make excellent pets for a variety of households.
Corgis are becoming increasingly popular for a variety of reasons, including:
Their distinct, appealing appearance is due to their tiny legs, long bodies, and expressive faces.
They were originally trained to herd sheep, and their intelligence and natural herding abilities make them fascinating working dogs.
They are known for their close relationships with their owners, as well as being loyal, affectionate, and protective.
Size: Despite their small size, they are adaptable and can live in a variety of environments, including apartments and larger homes.
Tumblr media
History
Pembroke The breed descended from Welsh Corgis and Cardigans. Welsh Corgis originated in Wales, where they were used to herd cattle, sheep, and other livestock. They have a long history of making a living as dependable and quick herders for farmers.
Differences from Other Corgi Breeds: Corgis are classified into two breeds: Pembroke and Cardigan. They resemble each other in some ways, but they differ greatly in terms of how their bodies are built, what they wear, and where they came from in the past.
Characteristics
Corgis have bodies that are low to the ground, long torsos, and short legs. They have a fox's head, with ears that stand up and an expressive face.
They are intelligent, alert, and quick to respond. They are extremely eager to please their owners and enjoy being a part of family life.
They typically have a warm, loving, and loyal personality. They can be good with children and other pets if taught how.
Pembroke Welsh Theyt are about 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) tall at the shoulders, while Cardigan Welsh Corgis are slightly larger.
Weight: The majority Their weight ranges from 11 to 14 kilogrammes (25 to 30 pounds), with Cardigans being slightly heavier.
Lifespan: A Corgi typically lives between 12 and 15 years, depending on factors such as genetics and how well it is cared for.
Socialisation and education
Early Training and Socialisation: Corgis require early training and socialisation to learn good manners, basic commands, and how to behave around people and other dogs.
Because Corgis respond well to positive interactions, positive reinforcement methods such as giving treats, praise, and rewards work well with them.
Common behavioural issues and how to deal with them:
If they do not get enough exercise and mental stimulation, they may develop behavioural issues. You can help prevent problems like excessive barking and bad behaviour by providing your dog with regular physical and mental challenges.
Maintenance and upkeep
Common Diseases and Symptoms: Hip dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, and eye problems are just a few of the health issues that Corgis can suffer from. Regular vet visits are required.
Dietary Needs: It is critical that they consume a well-balanced diet that meets all of their nutritional requirements. Speaking with a veterinarian can assist you in determining what to feed your pet.
Corgis, despite their small size, are active dogs who require daily exercise to avoid obesity and to keep their minds active.
Grooming and Hygiene: They must be brushed frequently to keep their double coat from shedding. Bathing, nail trimming, and teeth cleaning are all necessary for their overall health.
Breeding and reproduction: Good breeding practises prioritise both the health of the parents and the offspring. Ethical breeders monitor their animals' health and ensure they receive proper care.
Where to buy and adopt: Responsible breeders who prioritise the welfare of the breed and use good breeding practises are recommended. Adopting from animal shelters and rescue organisations is a generous act.
Popular Culture and the Corgi
Corgis are well-known due to their long association with the British royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II.
Corgis in Film and Television: Corgis have appeared in a number of films and television shows, usually as loyal and adorable pets.
Corgis are frequently portrayed in the media as happy and cute characters, with an emphasis on their distinct appearance and wonderful personalities.
Conclusion
Finally, Corgis are popular because of their appearance, activity level, and proximity to their owners. Despite their history of herding animals, they make excellent family pets due to their loyalty and friendliness. Living with one of these endearing dogs will be a rewarding experience if you make a commitment to their health through training, care, and socialisation.

In the H.is D.ark M.aterials series, everyone’s soul is external in the form of a talking animal companion called a daemon. The daemon’s animal form changes in childhood, but during the person’s adolescence the daemon “settles” into a single form and can no longer change anymore.  I think Darkstar’s would be a wolf. I realize that’s such a cliche animal to pick for “what my character is most like” because of the coolness factor, but that’s not why I selected them. I actually picked them because wolves are very communal and, while they don’t run on that bullshit alpha/beta/omega system, are hierarchal, and very loyal. A lone wolf is NOT a happy animal. They work together, from bringing down prey to bringing up pups. They also thrive in cold environments. Darkstar never goes solo once in her career, she seems to always need to be on a team, and she’s extremely loyal, sometimes too much so. It’s the canine loyalty in particuliar that made me pick wolves over any other communal animal, like horses or naked mole rats or apes or rats or any number of other critters. I almost went with a dog instead, servants are depicted as often having dogs of a breed that reflects their position (for instance, a high class butler having a fancy Irish setter, but a guard having a large guard/attack breed) but I ultimately went with wolves both because of her fighting capabilities as a superhero (even if she’s far from a notably vicious type) and because wolves don’t have the same urge to please human beings; even pet wolves won’t do tricks and shit like a dog will. And Laynia is someone who does struggles a LOT with whether to remain loyal and obedient when her conscience telling her NO, and while daemons are reflections of their person, they also often embody like. . .our second thoughts, or things we ignore or repress, or our “true” selves, and many people are shown to bicker with their daemons because of this. Like Lyra is very impulsive, but her daemon Pan tries to talk her out of reckless behavior, or Mrs. Coulter has quashed down all her better human qualities and as a result her daemon barley speaks because he represents that aspect of her, there’s this bad guy who seems to be a very charming seducer, but he’s actually violent and evil and his daemon is a hyena that everyone innately finds repulsive (yeah, I hate the hyena slander, but you see my point) So I think her wolf daemon would be the independent-minded part of her that keeps saying “this is wrong, make your own decisions, you care about your pack but they don’t care about you!” while she herself argues with it because of her conditioning.

What Other Animals Have Pets? A Closer Look at Our Four-legged Friends
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered if other animals, besides humans, have pets? It might seem like a silly question, but it turns out that the answer is yes! It’s true that many animals in the wild share a mutualistic relationship with each other, but some animals actually keep pets for their own enjoyment and protection. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at our four-legged friends to find out what other animals have pets and how they keep them.
Dogs
When it comes to taking care of a dog, there is no shortage of responsibilities. From providing adequate food and water to regular exercise and walks, proper grooming and check-ups, and training and obedience classes, dog ownership is no small commitment. But with all the benefits that come with owning a canine companion, it is no wonder why so many people choose to have a four-legged friend in their lives!
Here are the effective ways to train your puppy
Cats
Finally, it’s important to remember that cats can be sensitive to certain scents and loud noises. When introducing a new cat into a home, it’s best to do so slowly and make sure they have plenty of places to hide if they feel overwhelmed.
Horses
Many horse owners keep their horses as pets and enjoy forming deep bonds with them. Horses are highly social creatures that need lots of attention and interaction. They are most happy when they are included in activities with their owners, such as riding or grooming. Horses require a great deal of care and upkeep, so if you’re considering getting one as a pet, be sure to do your research and make sure you’re up for the challenge.
Overall, horses make wonderful companions if you’re willing to give them the time and attention they need. They offer unconditional love and friendship, and a bond with them is truly something special.
Birds
When it comes to birds, many people assume they are off-limits when it comes to keeping as pets. However, there is a wide variety of bird species that can make wonderful companion animals. From parrots, to doves, to finches and more, there are many different types of birds to choose from.
Parrots are the most popular type of pet bird, due to their ability to mimic human speech and their vibrant personalities. Parrots come in a variety of sizes and colors, so there is something for everyone. While parrots can be quite loud at times, with proper training and care, they can become loyal, loving family members.
Doves and pigeons are also popular choices for bird lovers. Doves are known for their peaceful personalities and gentle nature, while pigeons are curious and smart. Both species can be taught to fly back home after being released, making them great companions for those who enjoy bird watching.
Finches are small and active birds, with vibrant feathers and cheerful personalities. They make great pet birds as they are relatively low maintenance, easy to keep in an aviary, and tend to do well in pairs or small groups.
If you’re looking for a unique pet bird, why not consider a budgie or cockatiel? These small parrots are relatively low maintenance, but they still have plenty of personality and can make wonderful companion animals.
No matter what type of pet bird you decide to adopt, it’s important to remember that all birds require a high-quality diet, plenty of attention, and space to spread their wings! With the right care, your feathered friend can provide years of joy and companionship.
Reptiles
Turtles and tortoises are one of the most popular pet reptiles because they are relatively easy to care for and don’t require much in the way of equipment or environment. They can live up to 80 years in captivity and are often considered a low maintenance pet, though they do require specialized lighting, heating, and food.
Lizards come in many different shapes and sizes, making them another popular pet reptile. They come in colors ranging from green to brown to black and can be found in both desert and tropical environments. Most lizards require specialized lighting, heat, and humidity, so it is important to research the requirements for your particular species before getting one.
Snakes can also make great pets for those with the right knowledge and experience. While there are some species that do not require any specialized equipment or environment, others can be quite demanding and require careful monitoring and specific environmental conditions.
Crocodiles, while rarely kept as pets, can also make interesting companions. Crocodiles need large enclosures with plenty of water and special heating equipment. As with other pet reptiles, it is important to research their specific needs before getting one.
Small mammals
These animals are social and love interacting with humans. They can be easily tamed and will form close bonds with their owners. Not only are they fun to watch, but they can also help relieve stress.
When choosing one of these small mammals, it’s important to research the different types and determine which would be the best fit for your family. Before purchasing or adopting one, make sure you understand their needs such as habitat requirements, dietary requirements, and health care needs.
Whether you choose a guinea pig, hamster, or gerbil, these small mammals can make excellent pets. If you’re looking for an affectionate companion that won’t take up too much space, then a small mammal may be the perfect choice for you. However, there are other animal companions out there that offer even more in terms of companionship. Reptiles have become increasingly popular in recent years. While reptiles do require special care and attention, they often come with lower maintenance costs than many other pet options. Lizards, snakes, and turtles can all make great pets if properly taken care of. If you want a low maintenance pet, lizards like leopard geckos and bearded dragons tend to be easy to care for. Snakes come in a variety of sizes and temperaments, ranging from harmless milk snakes to more venomous species like cobras and rattlesnakes. Turtles are not particularly cuddly creatures, but they provide plenty of entertainment watching them swim around their tank and explore.
When selecting any reptile as a pet, always ensure that the enclosure is secure and suitable for its species' natural environment. Fish tanks can provide hours of pleasure, from watching the fish swim around to setting up stunning aquascapes. Freshwater fish like tetras and guppies are generally easier to keep, while saltwater tanks require careful monitoring of water chemistry and regular water changes. Keeping fish is a wonderful way to teach children about responsibility, patience, and respect for nature's delicate balance. Bird ownership can also be rewarding; however, birds need lots of stimulation and care. They should never be kept in cages that are too small, and having multiple birds increases their happiness and helps reduce boredom. Parrots and cockatiels are some of the most popular bird breeds kept as pets. Parrots need daily mental stimulation through interactive play and toys.
Cockatiels usually don't need quite as much interaction, but they still need time outside of their cage so they don't become depressed or bored. Finally, cats and dogs have long been known as beloved household pets. Cats usually require less attention than dogs; however, cats still need daily interaction to prevent loneliness. Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments, so finding the right breed for your lifestyle is essential before bringing a dog home. Whichever type of pet you decide on, make sure you are able to meet their needs both financially and emotionally before making the commitment to own one.
