The fact that the Httyd gang knows about the effect of dragon nip but they are never seen using it on any dragons throughout the franchise unless it's like a last resort or an emergency to stop extremely out of control, hostile dragons. They know that grass is like a drug for the dragons so they never use it against them even to try and train them. As if it is against their moral code to try the easiest way to tame any dragon.

Like, these kids know all these little perks about dragons that Hiccup learned in the first movie. The dragon nip, eels, moving spot of light, specific disabling scratch spots etc. And none of them uses these to befriend or train any dragons throughout the course of the franchise! Dragon nip is an emergency last resort for when they encounter a super aggressive dragon, eels are an absolute no, nobody used shiny laser light spot on any dragons post Httyd 1.

No, they befriend the dragons with trust. They'll only give a dragon scratches after asking permission that is telegraphed in their body language.

The riders respect dragons and there are so many little subtle things which show how they never treat these incredible amazing beings as if they are animals, they always treat them as individuals. As equals.

I love Httyd so much like you have no idea.

The fact that the HTTYD (movie) dragons are made out of pure muscle to be able to carry themselves is honestly horrifying. Because you see birds can fly because they have hallow little bones to be able to lift their little bodies, look at a finch and tell me you're surprised that its little bones are hallow.

But the dragons? Their bones are most definitely not hallow, by the fact that they're around five hundred pounds despite looking very stick-ly in terms of appearance. That's most definitely because their bones are sold and their whole body is made of muscle to be able to let them fly

The only dragon who probably goes against this are Gronkles (and similar dragons) but that's probably because they're following Bee Physics so we can't really question it

Night Furys are the best example of dragons being made out of pure muscle because Toothless' wing span is made to carry a dragon his size, but as a strike class his body is also fit to match the "vice-like jaw strength" the class of dragons is described for. Even how his face is shaped makes him much more aerodynamic, the fact that hiccup doesn't hinder him much is probably because he's a hiccup, the runt. His small size and probably lighter body doesn't hinder toothless too much

TL:DR - Dragons don't have hallow bones like birds (except gronkles and the like who are the Bees of dragons), and that makes them more horrifying

i bought this from my local library for a dollar. literally went in there and it was the first thing i saw. instant impulse purchase and i'm so glad i did because.

One thing I absolutely love about this franchise is how the characters include their respective dragons into literally every conversation both casual and serious. It's never just, "Where is Hiccup?" It's always, "Where are Hiccup and Toothless." It's never, "The ingredients are in your satchel." It's, "The ingredients are in Toothless' saddle bag." Not just, "How are you holding up?" but always, "How are you guys holding up?" It's not, "How about an impartial judge for the Thorsten challenge? For the love of Thor take me with you." Instead it is, "How about a couple of impartial judges for the Thoston challenge? For the love of Thor, take us with you."

In most other media that involve an animal best friend, this is usually absent or not displayed as thoughtfully, the animal is usually missed in discussion or not included in such dialogue pieces but Httyd never does that. Dragons are always treated and included as equal individuals instead of just pets and I love that.
