Light having a dream that he made the trade and now has the shinigami eyes. He immediately goes to find L, only to find that the name floating above his head is indeed L. Light tries to write this single letter down in the Death Note but L does not die. Ryuk tells Light this is because Light loves him, and cannot kill L. Light considers how one might be able to kill a shinigami despite Ryuk telling him it's basically impossible because that's easier than accepting he might have feelings. He wakes up in a cold sweat and has a very bad day the rest of the day, and resolutely refuses to look at L at all.

Later when Light finds the page Rem wrote L's name on he's so beyond pissed that his first name was actually L.

sometimes I'll think abt rem from death note too hard and make myself sad

#she literally was just in love and it finally gave her eternal existence some meaning after millenia of despair and nothingness #she watched her one friend give his life to change fate and save this sweet bubbly human girl from a horrible violent death #and she decides to honor her friend by bringing his death note to the girl he loved so much #and she sticks around with her because she's curious and she ends up falling in love with misa too #developing this fierce protectiveness and loyalty to this girl that her one friend destroyed himself to save #but because of their interference with her life misa becomes this impossibly powerful and selfish force of mass death and destruction #she's immature and unwell and completely fanatic over someone who is the complete antithesis of what rem loves about humans #about her #and through it all in spite of how deadly and downright cruel misa becomes rem is utterly devoted to protecting her #keep the girl alive. gelus did not die in vain. he did not love her in vain. i do not love her in vain #it speaks #death note

#.txt #trigun #specifically #trimax #i am rotating her in my head always she is so fascinating to me i have so many thoughts i could write a novel #shes captivating to me. as a person #tbh her and tesla and the dependant plants as like. catalysts for so many emotions in the story but we dont get real insight into #their internal lives #and rem captivates me specifically bc shes so complicated wrt her actions with tesla but also the way she talks about leaving earth #and the idea of giving up on her home planet and putting her whole fresh start into seeds and then immediately making #the worst mistake of her life (tesla) and then starting over blank Again with vash and knives and how that all turned out #like!!!! the emotions going on there for her must be insane. i think about it Literally Constantly #and how it all ties into the mangas theme of the potential to be better vs the people you hurt before getting there #im literally obsessed with her #also she dresses like a lesbian electrician and i really like that vibe for her. im not immune #rem saverem #holding her in my hands i just think shes neat #also i have a whole incoherent google doc filled with random scenes from idk iguess the rem pov novel that lives in my brain??#maybe ill clean them up and post them one day that is a threat #also i love fat baby knives in the itty bitty manga screencap i chose. i just know hes the densest baby alive #normal looking baby who you pick up and handles like a bag of wet cement

Anyway I feel like it kinda gets glossed over that Knives was a child when he caused the big fall and idk I think that's kind of important because he's lived with that for over 100 years and just like Vash has lived with knowing the people he loves and fights for don't see him or his kind as anything more than a tool at best or a monster at worst, Knives has most definitely lived with knowing he's the leading reason why this system has remained in place

#knives millions #millions knives #like he can and most definitely does rationalize away conscious guilt by going 'this is what humans would have done anyway'#but like #goddamn alisduflsiafuh he was a child #and for all his resentment toward Rem she was still his mom #and he still initially intended for her to be saved with them #and this isn't me wanting to handwave everything else he'sdone #but i think it's an important part of his character to remember #(especially in the trimax manga where imo he's had a death wish of some sort constantly since he found out about tesla)#(the only thing keeping him going was Vash staying alive and freeing the other plants)#(and when he failed to take the other Plants away with him. he starts asking Vash to just shoot him already)#(like idk man sometimes i just remember that he was a kid when he caused the big fall and my heart hurts)#(he was already building his self fulfilling prophecy)#(and then tristamp has him find conrad way younger than in the manga and the forced witness of a Plant being killed happens as a teen #(and OW)#(like the fact that he and vash experience so many of the same things but have key pieces of formative disconnect...)#(their story breaks my fucking heart)
