#tw vent#ok so. ive never really noticed it before bc it was just another part of everyday life#but my moms always been really adamant about us Not using our left hands for things#and my sister tends to default to left so she gets yelled at a lot#but then tonight i guess i kind of... finally made the connection? like wait damn this is like. discrimination on meaningless things 101#so i made an offhand comment asking my mother Why it was so wrong to use your left hand#and anyways guess who just got an hour lecture that sounds suspiciously similar to homophobic arguments#'i grew up in a conservative family' 'its dirty' 'this is how i think and i cant change it'#and she started asking why i was arguing w her on tbis like lady i dont know why are YOU? i said ONE THING#sorry making you question your lifetime beliefs set you off i guess but damn....#its so weird when you realize this thing youre used to is acrually kinda fucked.
