dude rip to clark his relationship with sex is already like *shrug emoji* and so he doesn't really have the motivation or time or experiences to rectify the harm he's done to his own preferences and comfort in terms of taking a leading role within genuine relationships.

like he is naturally a switch just right on down the middle and even steven and 50/50 preference, it should just depend on his mood or what the vibes are or how he meshes with a partner but he does typically fall into more of a submissive role when he's entered into a sexual dynamic with someone he trusts and is emotionally intimate with and is either some form of romantic partner or friend with benefits ,,,because that's the only time he feels he can be in that dynamic spot.
