Alas, this beautiful dream could not last.

#dungeon meshi #falin touden #dungeon meshi spoilers #better drawn mdzs #(<- my higher effort art tag. I need to get a new one.) While it's different from my usual style I really loved how this came out!#Strolling back to the art scene to remind everyone I am still a lover of botanicals.#I had a blast with the symbolism for this one:#White lilium longiflorum (easter lily) for rebirth. Purple hyacinthus orientalis for sorrow and forgiveness.#Red spider lily (Lycoris radiata) for loss and death.#'Rebirth into something new' is so well done in Dungeon Meshi. She is back but she is not the same.#The last few episodes/chapters gives her this dreamy quality to her. As if she's not quite real. She's so perfect in their memories.#And as we know of dreams - no matter how sweet- they must end once we wake up.#It is so painful to lose someone twice. To see someone you loved in a dream and wake up and remember that loss again.#Dungeon Meshi being a grief allegory is important to me. I'll explain more as the story continues B'*)

Mhmm I sure love thinking of the reality where we did get more time to really know Karai and her dynamics with the bros. Losing her hit hard in the finale, but it would’ve hit much, much harder had we known Karai longer and really saw her relationships develop with everyone.

I especially would have been interested in her dynamic with Leo, as past iterations often have the two of them clash in ideals and the like while still sharing many characteristics. Two sides of the same coin, and all that. Her specifically being the bros’ Gram-Gram also adds a whole new dynamic as well.

Imagine how interesting it would be, to have Karai start off on Leo’s side for once, showing wholly just how alike the two are at their cores and bonding as family without the worry of betrayal or animosity that other iterations suffer through, only to have Karai die anyway. Their parting hug and the desperate look of horror Leo wears later on would have hit that much harder, I feel.

#rottmnt #rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles #rise of the tmnt #rise karai #rise leo #rottmnt karai #rottmnt leo #I think a lot about these two in particular #and how that dynamic could have flourished #the way it was depicted in the finale is so purposefully unique and painful like #that hug man #can you imagine how much more heartbreaking that would have been if we knew her longer #not that it wasn’t already sad but we just simply didn’t know her long enough to be completely attached #also imo having more episodes with her and in general would have presented something I’ve been thinking about since the finale #so like - I like to think each bro kinda immediately leans more toward certain family members #Mikey has Draxum #Donnie has April #Raph has Splinter because this is another one that would be SO GOOD and make the finale moment where Raph sees his memories hit harder #if they had an ep or two more of Splinter and Raph together bc I really do feel like Raph respects Splinter most of the four #and finally- Leo has Karai #and then he loses her #imo? this would align with the movie even more #because it was the act of heroism that kinda killed her in a way - makes sense that Leo would initially be leaning away from that #and yet he ends up exactly like her anyway #haha sorry for rambling I just really love the interesting dynamic these two tend to have #and it’s a shame we didn’t get to see it really explored in rise #but yeah make no mistake while I’m focusing on Leo here I wanted more for all the boys and karai #Mikey’s little moments with her were so sweet and we already know how much he yearns for more family #Karai being from an age long gone would mean she’d be super impressed by literally any invention Donnie has (adult validation!!)#and could you imagine her training with Raph - with this training being referenced in the finale?

Oh, I have lots of ideas for them.

Because I'm drawing them pre/early-relationship, I have a lot of stuff I haven't gotten to yet. I think, despite Rarity falling in love first, AJ is the most outwardly and obviously in love. Like, girl is in LOVE with her wife. The type to take off her jacket and put it over a puddle so her wife can cross. The type to walk around with hearts popping over her head.

Something I definitely wanna get around to drawing is how they were when Rarity first moved to Ponyville, because they would've hated each other, lol. AJ going from, "I can't stand her fake ass. 😒" to, "Yes Miss Rarity. Anything you want, Miss Rarity. 🥴" Or Rarity going from, "What a big, dirty brute. 😡" to "What a big, dirty brute. 🥵"

Anyways, later one comic idea I had for when they eventually get married is Rarity comes home to catch AJ trying to surprise her with a dinner. But things are going awry because AJ is so stressed and nervous about making everything perfect, and she even burns her apple pie. She has a bit of a breakdown because she feels she can't do anything right like she's supposed to anymore, and Rarity comforts her and tells her, why don't they bake the pie together? The comic ends with the two kneading dough together.

#esafagus #ask me #i've stated this in previous comics but aj is a bottom and rarity is a top #rarity does that classic seductress cartoon thing where she grabs aj's collar or tie and pulls her along #i think i've gotten the more suggestive ideas out there already so it's gonna be sweet and wholesome stuff from now on #also gonna use this time to do a mini rant of how the hell were they not endgame #they did an entire “there's only one bed!” routine and fought over blankets in SEASON ONE #there was an ENTIRE episode where the b plot is they argue over useless junk they wanna buy and then argue that they're #the better partner and is willing to let the other buy that useless junk before ending with both buying something sweet for the other #THERE'S AN ENTIRE EPISODE where rarity's mad aj won't take time off work to go on a proper date because she's a workaholic #THEY WERE MARRIED BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTED DATING

Finally catching up on the Horizons episodes I missed 👍

#fluff binges !!!#I've missed out this one and the one from last week that I'll watch once I settle my work for tonight--mainly due from a whirlwind on my en #even if it were just for two weeks I missed these sillies sm 🥺🥺🥺#Diana was finna gonna murder that man you gotta respect that #I think I saw online that not that many people liked this episode because of the main concern that Friede usually saves the day #I do get that though I actually really enjoyed this episode because I think it's one of Roy's best battles (aside from the top one which wa #--the confrontation with the explorers in Diana's hideout)#he got a couple hits in and even thought to send in Wattrel when he realized that he'd get an advantage up in the air which was so so good #the kiddos mainly fumbled this time 'round because they forgot about the foongus/didn't have another mon to counter it #(maybe Hatena could've countered but Liko still needs to learn How to use her in battles--she does want to help though !!! with how she #--moved that shovel on her own - which I thought was a nice lil indicator of a possible battle highlighting her in the future)#I loooved that moment at the end with Diana showing the dude his true self through Bronzor's reflection that was actually very sweet #so yeah it's a simple ep but an enjoyable one - I think people gotta chill with constantly wanting peak sdkjfskndjfs #loads of Horizons content are focused on character moments and a slice of life feeling to everything which is something I love personally #this is a nice breather after the insanity of the last arc methinks hehe #anipoke #pokeani #pokemon horizons #diana pokemon #arcanine
