Well. It’s been a long fight. But I think I can at last put the lil guy to rest

"Happy birthday, my totally-legit-government-assigned boyfrieeeeennnnd~!” Kokichi cheerfully exclaims; peeking his head out from behind a stack of gift boxes and a tower of macaron cake sitting at the very top. The colors portrayed purposely matching with Shuichi’s color palette. Additionally, what contained inside those boxes were articles of clothing and shoes from a premium Japanese fashion brand that created a design similar to Shuichi’s usual attire. The top part being oversized; resembling some type of cape or poncho. Actually, currently, Kokichi showed up wearing that brand so he could match with Shuichi look good for the birthday occasion. The presents and cake looking like they’d topple down to the ground from the way they all swayed a little too far to the right or a little too far to the left each step Kokichi took. His smiling and giggling could make one wonder if he was actually struggling, or doing this on purpose to see Shuichi’s worried face. Fortunately, he successfully sets them down on the floor with no issue. Kokichi grinning at how the result brought relief and concern on the detective and lifts a finger to Shuichi’s lips. “Nishishi! Ssshhhhh. Careful now. Don’t get your hopes up over a boyfoe. If I show up, who knows what sort of misfortunes will befall you...... Buuuuuuuuuut I decided to be nice today and spare you! LUCKY YOU! Have you been trying to get on my good siiiiiiiide~?"

And like the gentlemanly boyfoe that he allegedly is, the short Supreme Leader closes his eyes and bows down like a loyal butler; one hand resting on his chest and one hand behind his back. “Kokichi Ouma... At your service~” He lifts his head up slightly and opens one of his eyes when saying that last part. It was purred in a tone of voice that suggests he will gleefully do anything within his power to cause problems for Shuichi on purpose. Standing up straight now, he puts his hands together; creating a single clap sound. “SO! For your first uber super fun birthday activity, that Yours Truly has oh-so-thoughtfully planned for you, we’ve goooooot...” His hands commence a drum roll on his legs, before eventually pulling out from his back pocket a convincingly-sharp (It’s actually rubbery) pin with a fake plushy donkey tail attached to it.

“Pin the tail on the detective~! ♡” And that’s the cue for Shuichi to start running now, unless he wants Kokichi to poke him in the butt with the totally-super-sharp pin. So much for saying he was gonna spare him, huh? Well, not like he was gonna actually hurt him though. He just wants to chase him around his dorm room. Ya know. As a treat.

Even if Shuichi was pretty used to Kokichi suddenly being in his dorm room by now, he was still surprised when he came back and saw him there, carrying the stack of gift boxes with that macaron cake on top. Widened eyes had been staring up at everything he was carrying, before his voice snapped him out of it. “O-Oh!! Thank you, Koki-uwah?! G...Government assigned boyfriend?! What does that even mean!!” He wheezes, cheeks growing a flustered red as he stammers out:

“A-Anyway!! B...Be careful!!” The way the boxes and cake were swinging almost too much to the left or right was far more stress inducing that it probably should’ve been, with Kokichi’s smiling and giggling not helping. He would not be surprised if it was for the latter reason, knowing this boy.... Fearing any moment he really was going to drop all that, Shuichi had his arms extended, so he could be ready to catch anything that might fall. So when Kokichi had safely set that all down in the end- “Phew...” Relief washed over him, and before he could ‘scold’ him for how much stress he just made him endure, he lets out a surprised murmur when Kokichi placed his finger to his lips. “M-Mmnngh....” He just squints at him when he says. He truly had to wonder how “merciful” his boyfoe truly plans to be.... “Gasp! How did you know that’s what I was trying to do? Will you still continue to spare me today, ohhhh benevolent supreme leader?” He sassily replies and, with a smirk, drills a finger into his cheek.

Then when seeing him bow like he’s a butler, he can’t help the chortle that leaves him. “O-Oh my god. I’m getting such high class treatment today...” He jokes, until he saw Kokichi open one of his eyes. “...Nevermind.” He was tempted to give him a light bonk to the head, until Kokichi had stood back up. “Oh...?” He curiously tilts his head, wondering what said ‘first activity’ was going to be. The moment he thought to himself ‘why do I have a bad feeling about this...’ He saw Kokichi pull out that “sharp” pin with the donkey tail attached. “Oh god.” Is what immediately leaves his mouth, taking slow steps back. “N...N-Not to be a buzzkill, but how about we.... how about we don’t play that. I-I am not particularly keen on getting a donkey tail pinned to my butt! K-Kokichi-!!”

And with that, he quickly turns around and starts running around the room the moment he starts being chased by him. Logically, he knows Kokichi wouldn’t try to genuinely harm him, and yet: as always, he finds himself going along with Kokichi’s antics before he knows it. “Gwaaah, I-I’m not going to let you get me, damnit! Having me run around in my own room like this-!!” Made him feel so silly, as if he wasn’t trying to hop over the coffee table or suddenly push a chair to try making Kokichi come to a forced halt. As if, funnily enough: having fun with their little activity. But the moment he was starting to slow down slightly due to getting tired, his foot tripped on one of the table legs. “Ah-!!” That made him stumble forward, which surely gave Kokichi the perfect chance to catch up to hm and “pin” the tail to his butt. aka: the moment Shuichi finds out the pin is just made out of rubber. “Heek-! .......” Casually pretending he didn’t let out that squeaky yelp when he got poked, he slowly turns around to face him. And then, with a serious seeming look on his face, swipes the pin out of his hand, and simply says: “Payback.” Before proceeding to playfully swat Kokichi in the face several times with the tail part. “God!! Y-You are so...!” And before he knew it, he broke out into a laugh, still not believing he actually just ran that much around the room. Once he eventually stops, he realizes, while catching his breath: he still didn’t even look at the presents Kokichi brought him, nor a closer look at the cake, yet.

“Anyway, dork: let’s see what you’ve got for me.” Placing the donkey tail aside, unless Kokichi wanted it back, Shuichi walks over to the gift boxes. “Ah, let me set the cake down on the table, actually.” He reaches up to very carefully grab it. Once he brought the tower of a cake to the table, he finally gets a much closer look at it. “It looks really pretty... I’ve always seen these kinds of cakes in some of the fancier cafes. I always thought they looked nice, too....” And the fact that they even matched his colors, too, made his heart bounce in his chest. Just that special little detail, made him love the cake all the more. “I love how you even got it in my colors, too. E-Ehehe... thank you, Kokichi: I love it.” He then goes to grab a macaron, and takes a few bites, humming at how it practically melts in his mouth, with how tasty it is. “Ahhh, it’s really good! I’ll look at the other gifts you got me before snacking some more, but I’d be happy if we could enjoy this cake together! If you’d like...” He smiles softly.. After finishing his macaron, he goes back to the gift boxes. As he opens them one by one, seeing that they were clothing items and shoes to form an outfit...

“....!” A soft gasp leaves him, eyes slowly scanning each piece of clothing and the shoes after he took everything out of the boxes one by one. “O...O-Oh!! This... looks so nice! The top part looks kind of similar to my jacket... I-I like that, heh heh. I wonder if.. it’ll look good on me...” Shuichi hadn’t really worn this kind of clothing style before, after all... but it looked so pretty, he hopes it will on him, too. He even goes to take off his jacket, and throw on the poncho part of the outfit, and throws the hood part over his head. He figured it’d be oversized on him, but it really did feel much bigger on him than he expected; it was even covering his hands, too. “S...So um...!” Facing Kokichi, he flaps his sleeves with a shy smile on his face. “H-How does it look on me? Do I...look good....?” He’d be too embarrassed to say it, but he really hopes he’ll look good to Kokichi. Since... it’d make him really happy... “Wait... is the outfit you’re wearing from the same brand, too? Haha.... it’s like we’re matching, now! I um... know I’m a bit late to comment on it, b-but I think you look good in yours!” He giggles, cheeks turning a light red. “I’ve never really worn clothes like this before... I-I like it! Maybe I’ll change into the whole outfit, h-heh... I’m kind of excited to see how I’d look wearing the full set. But before that...u-um....” He could already feel his face grow redder... but with a deep breath, he steps closer to Kokichi, and pulls the boy into a tight hug. Then, as he leans his down... presses the softest kiss to the top of his head. “I hope... that was okay to do. I just... w-wanted to express how happy you made me with your gifts, and that cake. I love everything... thank you, Kokichi.” He gives him a soft squeeze in the hug. “Truly. However...” Mostly to distract himself from how red his face was and how fast his heart was beating, his smile grows more cheeky as he suddenly says: “...For that little stunt you pulled on me earlier, you are now obligated to... celebrate today with me! I won’t hear any objections! Not that my boyfoe surely has any, right? Hmhmhm....“

He was just joking of course, but he really would love to spend more time with Kokichi. Even including the fact he pulled that little prank on him, he was already making today so much fun for him. And little did the supreme leader know, he was the one person Shuichi was especially hoping to see today. He truly was so happy right now, indicated by the beaming smile he looks down at Kokichi with. “Let’s enjoy some cake together now, shall we? And then do some more activities, together! I’m already having such a great time with you: I know I’ll continue to do so with you...!”
