TELL ME MORE ABOUT “The Talents”
ALSO YES I SO RELATE TO LETTING A STORY JUST SIT AND FESTER IN YOUR HEAD INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY WRITING IT
Tumblr media
You- you really wanna hear about it?
OKAY THEN-
So before I start everything, I have important background info on this whole fuckin world. There’s this special race of people called ‘the talented’, and they’re called that because certain mutations in them give them powers. It’s more common for them to have at least 3 or 4, but in extra rare cases one will be born with 7-9 (and they’re already rare enough, about 1,000 spread worldwide). It’s an underground community, nobody knows about them.
Back to story, and we have our main characters: Katie, Molly, and Ivy. They’re all best friends in high school, and PLOT TWISTTTTT, they’re part of the Talented. But they don’t know, because their parents wanted to try and give them a normal life.
Also, plot twist #2, there’s a big corporation that wants to use the Talented blood, because of the special mutations that make non-Talented people young again. So basically, if you juice yourself up with Talented blood, you’ll never die of old age. And the Talented blood is like that because it has to be used to sustain a body with talents, so that the Talented don’t die after they’re 15, or something like that. (Also, they’re the little bad guy I was talking about earlier O_o)
BIIIIIIG time skip, they’ve figure out their talents (they’re all the super duper rare ones with 7 talents), they’re on the run from Big Corporation (tm), and they find a clan of Talented that will take them in. There we meet Nick, one of the healers of the clan, and they invite him to take down the Big Corporation (tm). They also meet Rauschen, one of the fire Talented. At least, that’s what everyone calls her. She never talks to anyone, only ever whispering to herself in German, so everyone just calls her Rauschen, which is German for the word ‘whisper’. And when people do try to talk to her, she won’t answer. Not even in German. She’s always mumbling to herself. And whatever the native German speakers here, it’s all nonsense, saying things as if she was writing her own story.
Even bigger time skip, they have taken down big corporation (tm) and everyone is happy. Except for Katie. It was a long hard battle, but it almost felt easy. And Rauschen? No matter what kind of scrape they got into, she always came out unscathed. When she would watch her fight, it was as if she knew exactly where the bad guy would hit. Coincidence after coincidence happen, bad guys practically falling on their own weapons. And the whole time, during the whole story, she feels as though she’s being watched, even when Rauschen is miles away.
At the very end, Katie confronts Rauschen. And for the first time since she’s been introduced, she doesn’t mumble. She speaks. In English. And for some reason, Katie almost feels free. As if something used to control her, but something had cut her strings.
Turns out, one of her talents is story writing. And this whole plot? The bad guy? Written for her own amusement. ‘But why?’ Katie asks. Because she was bored. Because she reads to much for her own good. Because her life needed a little bit of excitement. And what better way to do that than to make up a special group of girls, who were there to take down a big bad. All for Rauschen’s entertainment.
Yeah that’s all I got.
