I've stumbled upon this channel that does great video about medical history and while I really enjoyed watching it, my silly brain kept thinking about how Utonium would love to hear this with me and nerd out about microbiology until I fell asleep hsksjsksksksk

#anyway the youtuber is Patrick Kelly I loved his antibiotic series its so fun to listen about the days before antibiotic and sulfanilamide #actually all of his videos are very interesting and educational like i love the one when he talks about the plague and spanish flu #like do you know that people before the 19th century believes in miasma theory where diseases were caused by bad air and pollution #so plague doctor used mask with long beaks stuffed with herbs and spices to cover up the smell #and also cuz they believe good smell cures diseases which is one of the main beloeves of miasma theory #also during the spanish flu they thought the flu was caused by a bacteria cuz each time they do autopsy on ppl with the flu they always-#find that bacteria so they named the bacteria as haemophilis influezae #and its not until 1930s when electron microscopes exist and they study back they discored it was caused by virus #and virology is actually pretty brand new it was only abled to be studied when electron microscope came and they could finally-#see the viruses that passes through the filter that can catch bacteria #i think i nerded out too much lol but my point still stands i want utonium to watch this and talks about the ancient tea amongst-#the scientist during those eras #asuka speaks
