like i’m not a teenager anymore so i’m not going to say i’m bothered by current YA books because they don’t “cater” to me or whatever. (I don’t think I’ve read a YA novel since the fault in our stars came out lmao.) but this trend of corporate-cartoon-cover romance novels that are created for the sole purpose of buzzing on tiktok just scream procedurally generated to me. i know that books for teenage audiences can be truly well written (hunger games was the goat! i was personally obsessed with libba bray’s books!) so it’s a bummer to see the homogenization & tiktokification of books, especially books for younger audiences. it’s like the kids only read it to say they read it on their booktok account

So, I have to transcribe a bunch of editing notes into my main Scrivner document and also I’m stuck at home with the whole family having covid, so I have let myself get peer pressured into starting a TicTok.

Right now I’m just making short, unedited videos about my favorite subject- how fictional events that totally alter your relationship to your body- being a vampire, werewolf, brand new mutant, super-soldier, what-have-you is even more complicated in terms of mental health than media makes it seem.

Probably at some point I will wander into showing videos of my cats or gardening or writing process or some junk, but right now, it’s all about scifi and fantasy embodied psychology.

But I’m only making them when I have a minute when I’m bored of editing or whatever, so expect a very random schedule.

But here they are, if you happen to be into that kind of thing.

Thinking about the only OC family I’ve managed to grow over the years

Like sure there’s a gap of 107 years in the lore that I still need to fill... but like there’s multiple generations and actual story around not only the main characters, but their future descendants and more distant relatives/family friends as well

I abandoned it for like two years but then brought them back and they’re thriving

Still no idea what I’ll do with them though :’) I just have an OC family full of fantasy drama laying around
