Actually if your dual option protagonist is kept a vaguely blank slate as a way to ensure that the audience can project onto them then I'm going to take the small amount of information we DO have and craft them their own tragic backstory and also make them queer. My character now.

#anyways No matter how i go about it her gender is weird and she has a monster gf #im sorry im not developing her brother as much but shes my blorbo. so #i have decided that in her 500 year nightmare coma her nightmares gained consciousness and they fell in love #something something they can't exist without each other and they have the power to destroy each other but they love and trust #is it an unhealthy and wildly codependent relationship? yes of course #but thats the beauty in it #the horrors love you so much‚ they cannot help but hurt you‚ but they love you so so much‚ and protect you from much worse #she could burn her away. destroy her utterly and completely. but she wont #and yeah maybe your nightmare gf is a little freaky and not very good at blending in but it took you a while to figure it out so w/e
