Ummm controversial opinion... I kind of liked varians stupid little drawn on facial hair ... It made him look dorky like boy what are you doing?!?!?! I actually wish they fleshed out varian and andrew more because i know they were cellmates but WHY and HOW exactly did they link up??? Like in what way did he manipulate this boy

I LOVE Seapartist Varian's design. And I wanted to do something with symbolism and Andrew rose fore a while. Originally I wanted something where the rose would cover Varian's face but I decided not to. Then I thought it would be fun to make parallels to what Andrew did to Cassandra, Also I don't know who needs to hear this but this IS NOT ship art.

I had a hard time adding the pattern, I didn't know where to add them. They aren't my favorite but theyll do. I added the lanterns just for lighting and contrast tbh

The hardest part of this drawing was definitely the foreshorting and the colors. I drew the pose before the background and had NO idea where to place them. I was thinking to just make it a one off sketch until I realized I could put them on a balloon. Here's some sketches.

On the road to a new hunt, Varian gets sick.

This, in itself, is not cause for concern. Or at least it wouldn't be, if he didn't have the immune system of a toddler.

Because, y'know. Vampires can't catch a common cold.

- Or: the JuiceBox AU where Varian gets sick, forcibly taken to a hospital, and nearly gets vamp-napped in the process. Eugene's having a long day.

So my class today started watching the princess bride and that got me thinking, tangled the series/Varian and the seven kingdoms princess bride au.

Nuru as the mother ( but there gonna be siblings in this)

Hugo as Inigo Montoya

Cyrus as Fezzik (the giant character)

Nigel as Count Rugen ( the guy who kill Inigo father/ both terrible people) (# I hate Nigel)

Andrew as Prince Humperdinck ( there both terrible people it only makes sense)

If you see my vision then yeah. If someone says why can't Varian be Inigo let me say this I don't see Varian as him but I do Hugo and I want Hugo to say " My name is Hugo Rottewage, you killed my father prepare to die." Also I think k Hugo would actually kill someone so yeah.

If you say that oh your gonna kill Donella let me say this she could just be unconscious instead.

Also I made Nigel the person who dies because Nigel is a b if you don't know who he is he's the really annoying edviser to the throne.

neil and andrew are living two entirely different horror genres cause neil is most definitely the final girl in a slasher film and andrew is the protagonist in a gothic horror romance,,,

like we have andrew whose living a bleak and woeful life after being subjected to the cruelty of other human beings and then suddenly he's being haunted by the love interest who for the first book and a half had the high probability of being a figment of his imagination.

and wouldn't that make sense? because neil is the embodiment of all of andrew's fears and desires. if not his actual fears then a catalyst to them- losing control, wanting something again, feeling something again, being seen and understood. and here andrew is grappling with and blindly reaching for balance, but there's nothing he can do to escape the enormity of his desires, nothing he can do but let the emotions consume him despite not wanting them- not wanting the familiar feeling that's only ever been related to the feeling of helplessness and loss of autonomy... but he has no other choice but to love the thing that brings him down on his knees. while neil is slowly and horrifyingly chinking away at andrew's armor that was so carefully crafted to take the grotesque image of a monster.

but neil is also a symbol of andrew's humanity because here he is feeling and wanting- hallucinating a boy who sees past his fangs and claws, who holds up a mirror to andrews face and reveals that once all the armor is stripped away he's only just a boy!!

and then we have neil whose the complete opposite in that this is a manic slasher film where neil has been the repressed virgin all his life, mistakenly taken as the naive and innocent one,,, and to a certain extent perhaps that's true. but the events that lead to the end of the film are just plucking the pins embedded so deeply into him, unraveling his true dented and skewed psyche. and revealing his true inner nature that resembles the monsters we were all afraid of throughout the film. it ends with him stepping into the light and rejoining society with bloody footprints trailing behind,,,

i feel like i’m going crazy— somebody validate my “varian sees andrew in hugo”

just. cocky, pretentious, self-assured, handsome, not that trustworthy (but varian wants to trust him). he lives with this guy for months. (trapped.) there’s an objective that both he and this guy are trying to achieve. varian would risk his life for him (but would he do the same if varian was in danger?) there’s a sense of waiting. (everything is not quite right.)

is he imagining things, reliving memories he hasn’t gotten over, or is history repeating itself? (time is a flat circle.)

i have thoughts on the way varian views quirin vs the way he views andrew and how andrew and quirin are foils in this sense (they don't even know each other lmaoooo) but i don't know if i want to type it right now but the idea is There

So fan fact, in this time Varian’s dad is out of the rock. Varian still hasn’t seen him yet though. Though Andrew acted like a parental figure in the eclipse world (if I continue this comic this will be expanded upon.)

Also Hugo is like Varian’s partner in crime, they got sent to the eclipse world at the about the same age and made a pact that they would not ask a single question their past life on earth. So neither of them know what crime the other one did to get there, so each of them have made their own assumptions.

Nuru is also a particularly close friend of Varian, who tends to ground him. While the Saporians know they r friends, Varian keeps there friendship a bit more secretive from them, because they would totally abuse the power of him being friends with a princess.

(Nuru’s whole kingdom got stuck in the eclipse world)
