What are the dietary staples of one culture/region in your word and how do they affect the geography, politics, culture, religion and/or economy?

it is not a saturday by date but every day is a saturday with the right mental attitude :)

in all my wips, they [the world's inhabitants] mostly just eat the same stuff as what people have eaten throughout history so i will use this post as a way to talk about the echovores from Anechoic.

echovores are set apart from other predators in the way that they consume the essence and memories of a person, whose culmination of all that is called an echo. there are three classes of echovores, classified using the same names and terminology as types of radiation.

class alpha (α) category are for echovores that subsist mainly on the background echoes scattered and dispersed throughout the real world and the astral realm.

class beta (β) category are for echovores that seek out and consume remnants of echoes collected in items of sentimental value and the like. they also consume echoes of those who have departed. these echovores are a constant nuisance to curators like Vitro.

class gamma (γ) category are the most dangerous kind of echovores, actively seeking out living persons and consuming their echoes, leaving the host to evaporate without their essence. while these echovores can cause catastrophic damage to species and civilisations alike, they are thankfully very rare.

this is still up to change and edit, but i like the system i have so far with this
