dev log - april 28 2024

good evening...everyone.....here to report that this guy IS DONE THEIR FINALS AND IS BACK HOME. meaning i will be working on Vanguard much more frequently <33 it was a crazy year for me, and i am so glad to be back home man wow i don't know if it's legal to have five finals but who knows. i've had lots of ideas for what i want to accomplish this summer, so i thought i'd just give a general update on where i'm at/what's really going on since Vanguard has been sitting woefully in the corner of Twine for like four months (mostly) untouched.

IN PROGRESS - hope to complete by the end of summer latest

character voice claims / head canons! think i've mentioned this briefly (maybe), but i've been slowly compiling voices i think fit the VG bunch. i still have Charles, Vio, and Kiera to go, and i need to find a better voice for Vera. but. stay tuned.

reworking the entirety of the game formatting. this includes fixing font colours to be more readable, revamping the character creation, and solving the mystery of why on EARTH the sidebar covers the screen on mobile.

also just drawing more in general lolz... there has been a severe lack of Nia and Kiera content and that is NOT good!!

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they’re in love?

Cirrus: oh GOD they are so obvious and they know it. very very noticeable if they love you; will straight up just tell you if the circumstances are right. honestly Cirrus' platonic love and romantic love isn't too different. he just. is like 100x more affectionate and will NOT let go of you ever. definitely a PDA kind of guy.

Vera: kind of coy about having crushes; if she thinks there's a sliver of a chance of you liking her back, you probably won't even know she has one. but if she knows the feeling is mutual..? lots of teasing. when she's in love she becomes kind of stupid..she will defend you like a lawyer even if you're in the wrong. fiercely loyal.

Nia: tries not to be obvious...but she is SO obvious. gets so flustered she just keeps talking and talking...and talking. you will 100% know if she has a crush on you. she still gets all flushed even if you're in a long term, loving relationship with her. she loves buying/collecting things for you, even if it's something small like a pretty flower she pulled from the castle gardens.

Emilio: he thinks having a crush is one of the most torturous things that could happen to him. he's also pretty noticeable, although it kills him whenever someone points it out. straight up you'll have to kiss him to convince him that you also like him back. when he's in love he gets significantly more relaxed around you, and touch comes easy. becomes much more comfortable, and communication comes easier to him.

Charles: in denial. heavy. HEAVY. denial. he will hide this crush even if it kills him. makes up a thousand excuses to convince himself he doesn't have a crush on you. if he's in love, he'll treat you like the most precious thing in the world. always wants you to be in his space, even if it means napping on his shoulder as he quietly works in his lab.
